Wk of Jan 7--WISH Walking/Running Club

Of course, my fuel belt also had one area in the middle of my back that caused some chafing, and I now have a permanent Mickey scar right there - three perfect little circles forming a hidden mickey! :lmao:

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Happy training!

--Lynnda

Okay Lynnda reading your post just made me realize that I am into this Disney Marathon stuff waaaaaaaaaaay too much. When I read about your hidden mickey scar my first thought was "HEY, I WANT ONE OF THOSE!!!" :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I see you're doing the preggo thing too! Congrats! When's your due date? I'm due on the 4th of July so that doesn't give me much time to get in shape for the 1/2 in January. I'm trying to figure out what exercise I should be doing now during the pregnancy to help make it easier post baby. Might I ask how you're handling it?

Hey, you all just reminded me that my DW's step-mother and step-sister run an embroidery/silk screening shop. I forgot about that. They can get any type of shirt we want. I can look into whether they can do silk screening on a cool max shirt. Does anyone have an electronic file of the front and back of the shirt? Sunny do you still have that?

I'm due on the 4th of July

My DS was born on the 4th of July. Being Canadian he thinks that is funny because he says every year millions of American celebrate his birthday. He feels so special:hug:

Hey team how are you all doing today?

Still haven't decided what race I am doing but that is in the back of my mind right now and concentrating on training and eating clean which is going really well for me.

How are all the injuries healing up? Hope you are all feeling great soon.

Kim

Morning team!!

Today is a REST day for me!:cool1: Gotta love those! The weather here is to be horendous this weekend--rain, rain, rain!!! I'm still debating whether or not to try to get outside for my LR tomorrow. It might turn into SWOGing than running!:rotfl:

MelR--have you made it back yet!! If so, be careful with that ice storm a-coming for ya'll!

Quick post from me since I leave on Monday for Reno (convention). I have lots of work to do. I was browsing through the Kids Race pics and found this...

KateRunning0107-1.jpg

That's my 3 year old flying through the course. I wasn't able to find one of my 6 year old tho. I just love this pic but sad that they cost so much to get a copy.

Oh and I just found out that there is a new 1/2 marathon being organized here for May. Not sure I want to subject myself to it already. They are expecting 300 for the first year, but who knows if that is a true estimate.

Since everybody's talking about shirts, I'm trying to figure out what to get for May for the 5K & 15K. I just work out in cotton t's now. Of course, I'm in super cool/low humidity CO. I sweat alot even when the temps are 1-25 degrees! So, any suggestions about shirts I can check out?

I'm reading MFM now, and really enjoying the insights. I'm just getting to the training programs now. It has already mentioned that in a training program, if you miss a day, you miss it, you don't try to make it up later. I understand the concept, but my schedule for exercise changes weekly. Can I make a week by week plan as long as it includes the recommended runs or will that mess me up?

A total drive-by post on shirts. Check out soark.com and click on the club/team link at the left. They have lime green singlets and the prices seem reasonable. I have sent an e-mail to find out how we could set up the WISH team shirts on-line. I will post as soon as I hear something. If this works, we would all be able to order on-line directly from soark year-round and not have to wait to place shirt orders or get our WISH team shirts. :yay:

Definitely make the plan work for you! I also, b/c of my kids, have to alter when and how many runs I get in a week (but, hehehe, I always seems to manage to get my rest days in!;) ) Like some weeks, my LR will be on the TM in the middle of the week if I don't have anyone to watch the kids on a weekend morning. Unfortuantely, life does get in the way--so you do what you can, and don't feel guility if you miss some days! Good luck!

Jen--where is the new race being held??? I really want to get back up north and do the Fox Cities marathon in Sept--the course goes right by my old house--and it's as flat a course as you can get--we'll see though!

I just got the email today about the race. There isn't much info on it yet. All I know is that there is a 5K and a 1/2 marathon. It is here in Wausau. I would love to do either the Green Bay 1/2 or the Fox Cities one also. The Green Bay 1/2 is awesome because you go through Lambeau Stadium (Packers). I heard it fills up fast tho.

OK... I swore that I was done with 1/2 Marathons except for Disney and here I am talking about doing others. Oh Man... I am addicted!!!!

Oh good idea Heather. I just remembered that my step-sister in law's company can do this too. I have to say her prices are always incredibly reasonable if people can wait for me to hear from her.

Hey you guys!

Went for a run....well wog this morning with the EQ. She must either still be out of her mind from running in the heat last weekend or maybe she took a little sympathy on me since I just had a baby 10 weeks ago. It was tough, but I managed about 3 miles or so. It did feel good to be back out on a familiar route, and my attitude is better about it than it was a few days ago.

One week down and 50 something more to go until Mickey '08!

Wow! What an incredible experience! I will post a trip report later, but just wanted to say a few words.....

first of all to the 2005 WISH team, it was your excitement and enthusiasm as you returned just two years ago that started me on this incredible journey. Thank you so much, I would have never dreamed that I could complete a half, much less a full marathon, and your enthusiasm just carried me away!

To my fellow WISHers, both those I met and those I didn't - your support and encouragement made all the difference in the world. I do wish though that I had the chance to actually meet more of you....the time just flew by, but seeing the WISH team shirt was always exciting.

Finally, to those reading this thread and wondering....yes it really is possible! And, you don't have to be a runner to get 'er done! I completely walked the half last year, and mostly walked the full this year. It is still an amazing experience, and my Donald and Mickey medals still shine as brightly as anyone else's!

I mailed in my race app this morning. I am now sporting a nice new clippie.

Thanks Dave! That sounds great. I did not get a chance to read your first post about the shirts before I posted about the other site. If your SIL can do it, that would be fantastic. :)

I noticed earlier in this post that someone was talking about an MP player falling apart.

I thoght rules said no headphones. How are so many using headphones? How does it work?

Dawn- Headphones are discouraged, but no one will take your MP3 player away from you. Many people train with an MP3 player and feel more comfortable having it with them on the course. I used my ipod until the batteries died around hour 5 in the marathon. The last 2 hours were pretty boring without it. I guess I better get faster this year so that my ipod will last the whole race. ;)

Pat- Congrats on the medals!!! :cool1: I'm rereading MFM and I really feel like I should try to walk the 1/2. I don't care about trying to beat other people, but I am super worried that I won't be able to walk fast enough to stay in front of the sweepers. Did you have to walk super fast? I'm just scared because I have really short stubby legs! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Kathy- :cheer2: Congrats on making that Mickey committment!!! :cheer2:

Bree- 3 miles 10 weeks post baby. Oh my gosh! I think I was still hobbling around at that point!! :thumbsup2

Dave- Hey! How are you doing? I haven't talked to you in forever. You looked super sporty in those Marathon pics! :woohoo: Congrats on a great race! I'm so glad the shins didn't stop you. I remember when you were having such a tough time with them. Hate to admit it, but I probably would have given up. I so glad you didn't!!!

I completely agree with Stephanie. I did my SR on Mon and Wed because that's when DD14's soccer practices were. I think MFM suggests Mon and Thurs. I also changed my LR to Friday on weeks that we were out of town on the weekend.

Kathy...that clippie looks really good on you! I'm still trying to decide which race :confused3

Jen...it is quite addicting!

Dawn...I think technically the rules discourage headphones. I did the entire half with mine and no one tossed me or the several thousand other runners wearing them off the course.

Pat...welcome back! Can't wait to read your race report! So Goofy for you next year? :thumbsup2:

Dave...you looked great during the full!

Teri (outonarun)...are you back yet? I think you've been holding out on us. I was checking out some of the finish photos since I didn't remember seeing you on the course. Your clock time for the full was amazing...3:38:52! :worship:

Total drive-by here since work is super busy, but I just want to say....

COME ONE WITH THE HALF PICTURES, ASI! You're KILLING ME!
