Hello everyone!

For those new to us, we are a group of people who are planning to participate in walking/running events throughout the year. For most of us, the ultimate goal is to train and compete in the annual WDW Half/Full marathons. We'll also be posting news and training for various other events throughout the year. We range from non-running beginners to triathletes. Come join us, whether you're training for an event or walking/running for fitness!

Quick unpack, then I'll get things going again!

Welcome back to all Marathoners and Congrats. So proud of you all.

Can't wait to join in next year.

Kim

Holy cow. Am I first?

The Half was great. A little crowded in spots where the course was only 1 car-lane wide, but great nonetheless.

I saw several WISHers as they passed me or I passed them. If timing was right I'd say hi, or at least wave with my green bracelet hand. :wave2: Does anyone remember seeing me?

A BIIIGGG thank you to the WISHer who picked up my cell phone under the white/scafolding/light-up canopy in Epcot. I wish I was on the ball enough to ask for your name. But, at nearly 13 miles I just wasn't myself. Sorry. And, thanks again.

I finished in 2:53:55 for a 13:16 pace. Not as fast as I had hoped, but I'm pleased, especially considering the congestion on the narrow portions of the course. I walked all but the last quarter-mile when I thought I could make up some time and finish at my target pace. No such luck (and another example of how I wasn't thinking straight in Epcot).

Here are some pictures:

Oh, and despite seeing the condition of today's Full participants as they passed the Boardwalk at mile 24+ and 85 degrees hot, I've decided to do the 2008 Full. It will be my first Full ever.

See you then!

I finished in 2:53:55 for a 13:16 pace.

That seems to be quite a pace for walking the whole race! Thanks for the post, those of us who could not be there are feeling a bit deprived. I hope to see you there next year.

Kelley - Congratulations on a great finish! And thanks for posting. Those of us who were left at home have been anxiously waiting to hear from you guys. Hope to see you next year!

Mel - Welcome back!

Jackie

The weekend was great! My race time was not :sad1: I posted a separate thread for all the race reports to fill in as folks start coming home. There is a fabulous photo of the group from the Pop dinner!

I wanted to thank everyone on the WISH team for making this possible. I am constantly amazed at how well the team has come together. I think we're making an impressive presence at these races between competing and cheering each other on. Thanks to everyone for the support, encouragement and advice. The shirts continue to be a huge success...I had several people come up to me during the half and say how much they like it! I definitely think we should keep it for the future! Special thanks to all who contributed to the shirt design and to making it happen. Additional thanks to everyone who helped make the weekend such a success!

I'll definitely be back for 2008...just trying to decide between the half and the full. Definitely doing Minnie, hoping for RFTT. Looking forward to meeting all of you who'll be joining us then! As everyone makes their decisions for 2008, I'll highlight your name in lime green on the front page. I'd like to clean up the team list a bit.

Kelley...congrats on a great race! Sorry I missed meeting you!

Welcome back from the Half & Full Marathon to those who participated. I am so proud of you all. No events on my schedule as of now but do plan on getting back into my walking. You all are such an inspiration!!!

I have not posted since March 24, 2006 and I feel like I've been gone and lurking for soooo long.

I was assigned the job of PM for that HUGE Telecome merger that just happened on after Christmas & my spring/summer/fall fell into an enormous pit of work. :scared1: I have never been through something like this before in my life and it was amazing. My excercise fell apart - but i did still lose 40 more pounds in the meantime.

I obviously didn't make it to the marathon since i couldn't train - but I'm back on track now and plan to register for the half with my bonus check in March.

I'm thrilled to be back and love reading all the posts here. I will never catch up - but will try to read as much as possible about everyone's life!

Just checking in. I did 7.5 miles this weekend and maintained a 16 minute pace. I have a ways to go - but I gotta say. Life is sooooo much easier with those other 40 pounds gone.

Things that used to be hard are just coming to me easier and easier.

Anyway - DISNEY in 2008!

WELCOME HOME TEAM!!!

I hope you all had a great time and safe travels. Even though I've only been lurking for the past few months I had a really hard time Friday night knowing that my team was at Disney without me. I was so depressed I woke dh up and made him go walking with me at 3AM in honor of you all. (I'm sure he thought I was nuts, but he went with no complaints!) It made me realize just how terribly bad I wanted to be there with everyone. I'm praying I make it this year even with the new baby coming in July. I have a new determination that I've never felt before. I can't wait to share in a taste of the celebration by reading all of your experience stories. I'm so happy to be a part of the WISH Team. Thank you all! :grouphug:

WELCOME HOME WISH TEAM!!!!!!!!!!

NO MATTER how your individual race went we are all soooo proud of you all for making it to the starting line!!!!!!!

Please come tell us all about it even if your race day wasn't what you imagined. WE ARE SOOOOO PROUD OF YOU!!!!!!!!!

Well, despite the fact that I almost did no training at all, I was able to finish the Half yesterday morning. My DH was nice enough to stay back with me (and push me everyonce in a while). My time was ssslllllooooowwwwww, but we finished and that was really my goal (chip time 3:14:51).

We jogged a little and walked a lot. It was really hot, but there were so many water stops--that really helped.

I want to be more active in posting here and that means being more active in my jogging/walking/(hopefully someday) running.

We watched the marathon runners at a couple of different places today and I got so emotional everytime someone would run by. It is such a great experience and I had a great time. It was my DHs first Half and he is ready to sign up for the Full next year (and is even thinking about the Full).

I can not wait to hear more reports of the race! I hope everyone had a great time!!!

Christy

It is so great to start hearing reports from the weekend!! Congratulations to everyone who raced this weekend! Like some of the others who have posted, I haven't really posted much this last year, but I have decided that I am doing the Full next year.

I started training this past week and put in about 11 miles...with a long run of 4 miles on saturday. I am really psyched for this upcoming year and I plan on registering for the full this week!

I look forward to hearing more reports from the weekend's events!

Laurie

Welcome Home Team!!!!

Can't wait to hear all the details!!! Congrats to everyone!!:cool1: :cool1:

Way to go! I can't imagine how much the heat changed the race. Last year it was COLD.

Mel, you can put me down for next year - half.

Hey Everybody!
I have been lurking a bit over the last few weeks. I've been off the boards for a while b/c I was pregnant then having my baby.

Lucas is now 2 months old and I have officially started running again. Mel put my name down for next year's full!

Welcome back to everyone that ran over the weekend. It is such a fun race, with great medals to add to your collection.

I will have to start running from the beginning since I totally quit while I was pregnant, but having a goal will give me motivation to pound the pavement each week. Plus Evil Queen Christa will be motivating me by kicking my tail if I don't get out there

Going to run this afternoon. Maybe this run will be better than the one last week which almost killed me I'm so out of shape!

~bree~

Congratulations to all the WISH runners and walkers returning from the marathon!

According to my Nike+ I ran 21 miles last week (but that includes my warm ups). Once was outside on a track for the first time in over a year. That was a real eye-opener.

It's so nice to find some fellow runners/walkers. None of my friends run.

Got in a good training run today--did some speed work:scared: It was a 4 miler in around 36:40--the gym got new treadmills over the weekend! And they are wonderful! Glad my money's going to good use!!;)

Oh, and here's some advice for the soon-to-be or new mommies that are training (guys this might be TMI--so just skip this part! ) Keep up with those Kegel exercises--I, unfortunately, didn't take this great advice from a trainer at the "Y" after DD was born--now I have, shall we say, a little bladder issue when running--Good thing I REALLY sweat, so it's not embarassing (but posting it here now, probably should be! )

Stephanie

Count me in! I'm training for the Minnie 5K and 15K. I am so excited, as the first week of the new year was my first week for 20 miles total! I'm sooo excited.

I have several questions about the 5k and 15k, should I ask them on this thread or the Minnie thread?
