Wk Of Jan 6 - WISH Walking/Running Club

Hmmm.... I know I can't win the traditional marathon, but if I trained enough (and it would be a hardship;) ), I think I could do pretty well in the chocolate eclair marathon...

Jen in GA

Feeling better, by the way. Thanks WISHers.

Do you think they'd let you use the stroller for eclair carrying purposes only? I might work on training to your pace if they do.

ETA: I think my docs would be happy about the walking/running training part, but let's keep the eclairs our little secret.

Only here could a person ask this question: Is is unhealthy to have cow bell envy? I am cowbellless..... :upsidedow

30 min this morning and it didn't feel worth getting up early for. 30 min. Hu! That's nuttin'! :lmao:

As if tapering isn't enough to make me go postal, my tinnitus is raging and it's making me crazy! I really really hate this. I really do. :headache:

Stephanie - I got my hair cut this past weekend and asked her to cut my bangs a little shorter. She asked me why and I told her because I didn't want to have to wear a headband in the race and look like a dufus! You can see where my priorities are right now! OMG be safe!!!!

Jackie - I'll be easy to find Saturday morning. I'll be the one balling her eyes out with the shaking hands. :scared: OK newbies, don't read that! I am suddenly petrified that I will not have my husband with me at the start. Last year that was THE hardest part, the time between when the gun went off and we FINALLY crossed the start line. I panicked and told Charlie "I can't do this, I can't do this!" He told me to shut up and get going. God, I love him!

Vic - I was high and tight once, but I was much younger then....

MSDave - Call me on Friday when we are at PC and I'll pass you around! We'll all be WISHing you were there, but use your time at home wisely: start planning for the 2009 race! :thumbsup2

Heather -

Howard - You did 10:10 and only had to push it a bit? I'd be pushing it to death to get to that pace! You totally rock, Howard! But then, I already knew that. :thumbsup2

Kristi - Yes, that's it exactly and I said those words just last night. It is what it is. There is NOTHING we can do now that will make any difference. BTW I was going to bring a towel or something to sit on at WS#2. Since most of us will have done the Half the day before, and one of us will be standing for two, I kinda hope we can take turns sitting down for a few minutes at a time. I'm old, ya know. ;)

Christa
- Thanks very much! WISH you were going, but think of me if you're in the dairy aisle on Saturday! :rotfl:

Jen in GA - Welcome to the BMZ. I've been here about a week already.

Angie - You're going to be with us Sunday morning???? YAY!!!! :yay:

NEPBill - You can take that bouncing Santa out of your signature any time now. popcorn::

Okay, so we're all clear here. Looks like the big storm just missed us--we've not even had much rain. What bizzare January weather, it was 68 when I dropped DD off at school this morning and it will be a high in the low 50s tomorrow.

And, now, so of course I put off packing till the last minute and now I'm freaking out. Okay, so my running stuff is all together--but can't seem to find cute comfortable clothes for the rest of the trip. But guess I'll sacrifice some comfort as long as I look cute..hehehe gotta have the priorities straight. But I did realize that I have no vaseline (I'm not a body glide person), can't find the ponchos, and no travel detergent--off to Walmart I go this afternoon.

Vic, that is exactly how I feel, but just couldn't put it into words.

DD8 has been home sick from school both yesterday and today and I am dying to run! It has been 3 days.

Bad thing is that I can feel a tickle in my throat!

Angie, yeah for joining the volunteer group!:woohoo:

Stephanie, glad the threat is over!

Heather, sorry to hear about your FIL's passing.

Jen in GA - Now you are talking!

Judy, cute story about you and DH at the start! You are a pro at this now, you will do great!:thumbsup2

Bill and Lynnda, can't wait to see you to again, SOON!

So who is leaving tomorrow????

Colleen

Us!

Have to take the boys to the kennel first thing in the morning, and then we hit the road for the 6-hour drive to the mouse's house.

WooHoo!!

Colleen: Me too. Flight departs at 2 and into MCO around 5:30 tomorrow direct flight (yay me). Can't wait!!!! :woohoo:

Safe travels to those leaving tomorrow--we'll be out the door at 4am on Thursday. Should be in Orlando before lunchtime!:cool1:

same time here (4am Thurs) - only leaving from Ohare - and they have a habit of cancelling 100's a flights a day these last few weeks!!

Kelley - I think most of the WISH volunteers are going to be at the red course water stop #2. I am actually planning on dropping back to the red start just so that I can see everyone!!

Judy - I think I have some extra cowbells. I have grabbed them every time I saw some at Target. I don't know how I would get them to everyone though. I am not going to make it to the Pop Century meet (again) because I have the A-T dinner with Michael, and it's really important to him that we go. We are staying at All Star Sports, and would be more than willing to meet with someone who is going to the meet to give them to you. Let me know and we'll try to figure something out!!

I am so excited and nervous and nervous and nervous and did I mention nervous?!I feel like I can't concentrate long enough to get anything done. I have laundry to do, floors to clean, and I haven't even started packing yet. We leave Thursday morning. Looks like I need to get my behind off the computer and get started, huh?!

What's up with the Bah Humbug attitude *Judy Witchy Poo**. The Epiphany was just two days ago (i.e., "Little Christmas".) Plus, there's only 352 days till Christmas.

We are looking forward to seeing you again as well. We will have an additional member this time.

We are leaving tomorrow as well. ETD 12:30, Closer to Actual Departure (after 10 trips back to house to get things we forgot :rolleyes1 ) 1:00, hopefully arrive at SSR about 80 minutes later.

Bill

Krista - Yeah, Sean & I are close, BUT.....Not that close.:lmao:
Cam - Very cool that Jenn wants to do the half next year.:thumbsup2
Pat - Holly is sooooo cute! :wizard: that you are healing up from the fall.

Since it looks like some are already on there way to WDW or are heading out tomorrow....I just wanted to WISH everyone safe travels.

Thank you WISH TEAM for all of the motivation, encouragement, & support again this past year. It is an honor & privalege to be a member of this team!

Back to packing....will check in again later.

So who is leaving tomorrow????

Colleen

We are leaving Friday morning! Our flight takes from Cincy at 7:44 am and we should be landing at MCO at 9:44. Please tell me that Stephen and I aren't going to be the only one's on the thread on Thursday. We talk enough at home, we can't start talking on-line too!! :)

Safe travels to everyone leaving tomorrow and Thursday!!!

Krista

JUDY I have a cowbell for you with your name on right here! Along with a set of pom poms if you would like! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to be sure to say Thank You and to let everyone here know what a major part you've played in getting me ready for this marathon. When I started my training a year ago I wasn't sure if this old body would be able to handle the training or that I would have the time or motivation to get me prepared to run another marathon. You didn't exactly help me with the time, since I've spent a good number of hours reading these boards, but boy did you help me with the motivation!!!!! I'm not nearly good enough with words to describe how grateful I am to have found this thread. You have motivated me, encouraged me and inspired me. I haven't been able to keep up with all the posts nor have I had time to post as much as I'd like, but I've really appreciated being a part of this team. I'm disappointed I won't be able to make it to the Pop meet nor the Bakery, but I am hoping I can meet many of you along the course on Sunday or perhaps the party at Pleasure Island. Good luck to all of you in your races and travel safely to and from WDW.

It has been wonderful training with all of you.
Cindy

Just wanted to say good luck to any WISHer's heading out tomorrow. I know you will do great. Safe travels and best of luck!!

Cindy --

Bill -- Jenn is very excited about meeting Timmy and Billy. DS14 already reminded her that I am a "baby hog" and she may have to fight to hold Timmy.

Jackie -- I told Jenn about your DD17 and we will look for you at POP.

Angie -- so glad you were able to work out the volunteering! Man, that water stop is going to be such fun! I wonder how I'll bring myself to keep going when I'll want to just hang out with you guys! ;)

I still have my lime green clappers that Carrie brought for all of us last year and I am bringing that, so we will certainly have a cacaphony (sp?) of sound scream teaming on Saturday and Sunday!

BTW, I know we have water stop #2 covered and I am counting on seeing Anne around miles 9, 12 and 18 & at mile 24 with all our other Y/BC scream team members, but I am really, really worried about miles 19-24. Is anyone going to be in that stretch that I can add to my "motivation list"? Knowing that we will be seeing WISHers at a particular point gave me so much to look forward to last year. :grouphug: I remember the stretch leading out to WWoS and then to MGM being rough. Am I remembering that correctly? (sorry, I hope I'm not freaking out any marathon virgins. ;) )
