Wk Of Jan 6 - WISH Walking/Running Club

OMG! You guys are teh greatest! Not htat I haven't known that, but now I knw oyou're even greater than great!

Worried that I may have offended someone after I shut down my PC last night. :sad2: WHat I should have said is forgive me if I skim, concentration is zilch.

However, you have done a wonderful job of keeping with my conce span! :grouphug: I, of course, failed with this post. :rolleyes1

Kevin - Welcome back!!!! I've been MIA alot too, but I;ve missed you! When will we see you?

Keeping it short for Carrie ;)

Cam -

Guess what?

I found 6 more COWBELLS!!!!!:cool1:

I now have 9 bowbells and 4 pom poms. Only have 9 in my party, so I'm willing to share!

48 hours from now I'll be airborne!!:)

Terri

I wonder what the Target folks must be thinking, when green cowbells are one of their best sellers?

:rotfl2:
this crazy dis server!! It's curious too!!

I'm thinking our Target will start selling them!! :rotfl2:

60 deg F here near Chicago, and the weather is supposed to get warmer!! All part of my training!! :rotfl:

We should get in around 3'ish. But, we can wait on the other oldsters, when we'll eat manly food, drink, and scratch ourselves. :lmao:

Big Vic and Craig-- The more you talk about this, the more upset I am getting I will miss this unique gathering this year. You two are making it sound more and more like an early bird special dinner with the old guys who have have table manners like Uncle Louie. Can't wait to see what 2009 Marathon Weekend holds (and whether the table manners digress more as the age creeps forward).

Spcial post for Carrie (if she makes it this far):

Vic

You forgot to add "spit and belch." I'll see you and the others Friday and we can set it up.

Bill

No problem, next year it is. You'll receive an gold-plated invitation.

Short and sweet for that Michigan woman.

Craig

shhhhh - I am in the apple store in the mall of millenia sneaking online! hence the typing! Anyway, I obviously danced too soon as the cold snap seems to be moving to hot hot hot - sorry guys, off to miami tomorrow but will try again while Im there. Can't believe it's 5 days away till we run - weeeheeeeee. Helen

Greetings fellow Race Team members -

Well, IBM isn't getting their money's worth out of me this week. I'm so scattered! I can't even think straight. :upsidedow This morning at breakfast I was eating away, minding my own business, when suddenly I started crying like a baby, jabbering away. Poor Charlie was like "What? I can't understand you. What about Lily??" I was trying to tell him I was scared of the start so I have to find Lily because I don't want to be alone. Ten minutes later I was washing dishes singing away. If I wasn't tapering I'd be getting a diagnosis for some mental disorder I am sure.

Here's a short story of my weekend. Friday night my stepdaughters came up (Emily,12 & Lauren,13) Emily had a wicked head cold and Lauren had a violent stomach virus. :headache: As much as I wanted to send them both back home, I could not. So I started downing the fizzy Airborne. On Saturday I was getting a bad stomache ache so I put off my L/R until Sunday. I was really sick and thought I was getting what Lauren had. Until I realized that Airborne has Sorbitol, which gives me serious...."gastric distress". So I stopped with the Airborne fizzys and started on the vitamin C and Airborne gummies. I feel much much better now and think I have staved off the cold too. But I'll keep megadosing the C just in case.

I got in six miles on the TM yesterday, while watching Wild Hogs. OMG that was a funny movie! :lmao: Anyway, guess I'm as ready as I ever will be. Three more TM sessions of 30 min each and then BRING IT ON!

"Ain't no stopping us now, we're on the move. Ain't no stopping us now, we got the groove!"
:woohoo: :woohoo:

Carrie - I am breaking your Short Post Rule. ;) I'm not even going to bother trying to do any work so I'll just DIS all day!

Terri - It will be my pleasure to be twins with you this weekend. I'm going for comfort, so I won't win any style points, but who cares, I'm going for the bling, whatever it takes!

Dana - OMG! I'm glad everyone is OK.

Martha - Continued and multitudinous

Craig - Oh I'm so happy to read your post! Come on Craig, I NEED you there! You're my running mentor! I need you to be well. (OK, how selfish is that?)

Kristi - OK, well, when I see you in a couple of days you can tell me what REALLY happened in Vegas. popcorn:: Of course I remember how you got me a medal! My goodness I would never forget that! In all my life I don't think I have EVER encountered as much kindness and concern as I did immediately after my first ever long-distance event!!

Awww Howard, thanks for trying to make me have a happy taper. It's kinda working. :flower3:

Matt - Thanks for making the corral thread. :thumbsup2 Charlie keeps asking me who else will be in his corral. I told him to get a DIS screen name, for crying out loud! What am I? His coach? Geez. Anyway, thanks!

MSDave - Thanks for the DC report! Great run! :thumbsup2

Oh Vic, there you go with the visuals again....:upsidedow

Oh CAM! :grouphug: I got goosebumps reading that...

Pat - Oh Pat! I hope you are OK. Ouch!! And Pat??? Can we see a picture of Holly please??? paw:

KEVIN! YAY! It's Kevin! Ohhh am I finally going to get to meet you!?!?!? :yay:

Krista - OMG "Zebra butt". :lmao: I am in no way to blame for that. Krista, thanks so very much for you-know-what. I can't tell you what this means to me. My goodness you are SWEET!

Steve - :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Helen - Oh I was thinking of you this weekend, figuring you were already here. So cool! I can't wait to finally meet you!

Morning guys! I am finally back home. After 30 hours of flying, one lost suitcase (with my good Aussie wine) that luckily showed up the next day....finally I'm back. I got some good runs in on my trip to Singapore and Perth. I'm not sure how much running I'll get in this week - maybe just a light jog tomorrow. My mom was coming down with a cold when we left Perth and now I'm worried I caught it too. Sore throat a bit, so I'm downing Vit C. May go buy some Cold-FX today to be safe.

Leaving on a red eye Wednesday night so I can be in line and at the expo when it opens on Thursday. I won't be able to make the POP meet on Friday as we have dinner ressies at 5 pm, but I'll look for you guys at the start on Saturday and Sunday!

Krista - OMG "Zebra butt". :lmao: I am in no way to blame for that. Krista, thanks so very much for you-know-what. I can't tell you what this means to me. My goodness you are SWEET!

Judy--   Stay healthy!!!

Krista

I think Angie must've bought all the cowbells around here 'cause I can't find them :guilty:

Where's Dave's EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK thread?

Keepin' it short and real...

Can see everyone is in taper madness - can't believe the big day is just 5 days away. I am sure everyone will do wonderfully!!! Sorry I will be missing it this year but definately plan on being there next year.

Cam - What an inspiration you are. Its people like you who help me get through the rough times when I am ready to quit running.

I am going to keep this short for those who are having a hard time concentrating!! Just wanted to report my weekend training - as I am excited that there actually was some training as well as a race but I detailed that on the Race kudos thread. On Saturday I walk/ran 4.3 miles in about an hour. Taking a rest day today and hope to get back out tomorrow.

Can someone give me the link for the thread where Matt listed which WISHers will be in which corrals? I can't find it.

Thanks!

Terri

Where's Dave's EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK thread?

For that matter, I haven't seen Dave on the weekly thread for a while either. I guess either taper madness caused him to collapse or be non-provocing this week.

Bill

Big Vic

Will you be there in time for Wednesday dinner? I'm staying at the Boardwalk, but I'll have a car and can be anywhere, any time. Of course the ESPN Club is a manly place for manly men, who do things in a manly manner. On the 9th there will be no football so I suspect no mobs.

Or would you prefer to delay until later so the other over-that-magic-age men, like WW Dave and Duane can make it so we can all get together?

I'm good with either alternative. What would you, and our age-peer-group (translation: older but still going strong) like to do? Dave? Duane? Just let me know.

Craig

Unfortunately I don't get in until Friday afternoon. I'll have my wife drop me off (manly, yes?) to pick up my packet then she'll go check in at the Pop . Buy the time she is done and gets back I might be close to the front of the line :)

Then it's off to meet ya all at the Pop dinner :yay:

see you guys soon,
Duane

Steve – OMG!!! You literally had me LOL!!! :lmao:

Krista – right back atcha, sweetie!

Helen – YAY!!!!! I cannot believe we are finally going to see you!

Judy – yeah, sure, NOW you tell Charlie to get a screenname. In the meantime, SOME of us have spent the last 6 or so months TERRIFIED that he would get a screenname and stumble upon your “surprise cruise” thread. I had some sleepless nights over that, my dear!

Tricia -- :woohoo: on the additional training this weekend! WHERE do you find your energy?

I got in NO training this weekend! I worked Saturday and Sunday in the hopes of making this week more manageable, and we got in some cross-training with packing up all the Christmas decorations and the Spode. The house is now in good enough shape so that I won't be totally embarassed when our adopted daughter comes to stay with Andrew. YAY!!!

Oh, and the other bit of cross-training this weekend was trying NOT to laugh during the "karaoke" portion of the bridal expo Howard and I attended yesterday -- our very first one!! :bride: I am thinking we'll both enjoy the EXPO we attend later this week SO much more!!!

Oh, and happy, happy news!!!! DD19 has decided she will train this year to do the 1/2 Marathon next year!! :woohoo: I am sooooooo proud of her for deciding to undertake the challenge. She has NO illusions about the time commitment and I am really excited that she is doing somethign so awesome at her age. She is going to train and wogwith her best friend (since before they were 2!), who is said "adopted daughter." Jenn is really even more excited about this weekend, now that she is thinking about what she will be working towards next year. :cool1:
