So tonight I did BodyFlow - combo: yoga, pilates, back -- perfect for my continued recovery. I would much rather be getting off the treadmill a sweaty mess, but ya know what can you do? Tomorrow night I will ease my way into an easy 3 miles. I will repeat the easy runs I did this week into next week and then I hope to slowly start notching it up into MINNIE training mode.
Angie: I have to say that the XT is what helped me IMMENSELY while recovering from an injury. Now i run less days (only 3 to 4) and do cardio XT two to three times per week AND core work six days per week. My last year of training was a HUGE difference from the previous year where I was wrought with injury. I also felt fantastic after running Goofy this year...so I know the XT really helps. It sounds like you're doing great with the core work for your back. I just taught a body flow type class (fusion flow) this morning...but let me tell you...my clients leave a sweaty mess

. After somebody subbed for me a few weeks ago in a different class they said "we want the easy instructor back". Hopefully they were kidding LOL!
Anyway...the key to XT is finding something you love. I dread the elliptical...but enjoy the bike (the real outdoor one not the stationary type lol). That's why I can't wait for this crummy winter weather to pass so I can back outside. Maybe some cardio classes would work for you?
Shan: CONGRATS ON A GREAT RUN!!!!

Speaking of XT...did you ever try that pilates class we were discussing? Just curious if you ever had a chance to visit that studio

.
Bill: You can do it....don't look at the big picture, just start small and make sure to keep yourself healthy! Get your core work in so you can protect your back and just start moving. As I've been told by my mentors in training...."movement heals". It truly does...just take it at your pace and don't look at the whole big year of training. Just look day to day

. Best of luck!!!! Oh and....we must have a friendly little Super Bowl competition here. I'm a giants fan...it was a birth right and curse depending on the year. Anyway...best of luck and let's hope for an awesome game Sunday!
Amy, I wish I could have taken your mat class--there one at my gym is only once a week at a time I can go.
Ms. Ducky: C'mon on up. We're both in NJ....how far could it be LOL! Great job on the workouts...you're doing awesome girl!
Sooo...was planning to run today....but the weather is NASTY. Icy, cold, windy...schools shut down....I did have to teach this morning and 6 crazy ladies actually showed up for my fusion flow class. Not sure I want to slip and slide to the fitness center to hit the treadmill this afternoon....so I guess I'll log some miles on the ski machine later. *sigh* So much for a solid week of running. At least it's supposed to be 50 here tomorrow. Should be perfect for a nice 6 miler

.
Have a great weekend everyone! Here's to the snow melting, the ice melting and the warm temps returning
