WK of Jan 25 - WISH Team Walkers and Runners

Hey Jeff or Carrie, Could you give like a specific explanation of how you tape your toes? Like what you use, brands and maybe a photo of what it looks like after you have taped it.

Thanks, New member of the Order of the missing toenails and Toenails are for sissies Clubs.
Toenail Losing Tracy

Tracy - I lost a toenail once after dropping a Scuba weight on it, doc said it would not grow back, but it did, a little funky now, but I still have a toenail!

Debra - Yes, I try to get outside almost every day, I have 2 malamutes that think I was put on earth to walk them! Some days we do not get very far, but we do get out. Right now it is my knee not the weather that is cutting short our walks. Wind was not too bad today, but knee was killing me, so only made it 4 miles (I was trying for 6).

Oooh, the Princess medal is pretty! Can't make it this year, but I'd definitely like to do that one at some point.

Allie's son's blister problem? I can't help but was afraid it might have gotten lost in the conversaton. Her post is # 54 on page 4. Allie in case you didn't see Jeff's suggestion to Tracy about taking up swimming...err I mean her foot issue his post is # 21 on page 2. Allie I hope you find a solution for him

Thanks Diane! I actually did the next best thing. I sent a note to Jeff on FB. Let's just say I got a whole list of things to help DS. ::yes:: Actually his feet are healing nicely. They're not pretty, but they are healing. :rotfl:

Allie: Can your DS avoid playing BB until his blisters heal? Probably not.... He probably should use antibiotics on his feet if he's going to continue to play with blisters. :confused3 I like double-layer socks (I use Wright) for blisters. Jeff had some great suggestions earlier in the thread--did you read those?

Uhh, yeah, I'll let you come down here and suggest that to him! ;) :duck:

I didn't, but plan to go look now. Plus he gave me several on my new addiction FB! :upsidedow BTW, Thanks Jeff!! :goodvibes

Tracy - sounds like you are on track with your feet. I lost my BIG toenail a couple of weeks ago. Losing my toenail actually started months ago when I wore a pair of socks that had too much bulk (for me) in the toe area. After one long walk (9 miles) wearing them for the first time, I knew I was in trouble. A good learning experience for me.

My 5 mile walk/run yesterday turned into 4 because I'm a woos. By the time I made it out the door, the sun was blanketed by clouds and the wind was blowing. It was a good 4 miles though. Today was treadmill and cross training classes. Tomorrow it is supposed to be 60 and sunny (that's unreal for this time of year), so I will definitely be wogging outside. :)

Toenail Losing Tracy

Next time I tape up, I'll do a photo essay (someone else requested that as well, er, actually they wanted a youtube video).

Tracy & SamSam, this is for you! :lmao:

So when one gets into work at 6:30 am, what does one do? Post to WISH'ers, of course!

I am getting so sick of the cold/gray/snow/unicolor days (sky--gray, snow-gray, etc--gray) that I found myself smelling my "tropical paradise" deodorant this morning just for a little boost!:rotfl:

Before I forget......Go Steelers!

Okay, back now. Today is a needed rest day for me. Training (for that ever popular "TBD" event) was good this week, but yesterday took all my mental mojo to keep it going.

Tracy RIP for your toenail. I haven't lost one---yet.

Debra I can't imagine running outdoors in Pittsburgh during winter. I keep picturing this hill that I went up and over this past Thanksgiving on the way to the Dormont Diner (from Diners, Drive-Ins, & Dives). How anyone would drive down the hill to the BIG intersection at the bottom in the snow and ice? :scared1:

Time to get to work, I suppose. But hey, TGIF! or is that TTFN?

Maura

Good Morning Folks!

Looks like it will be a nice day here - sunny, high 47 degrees and "breezy", which is better than "windy". Hope to get out again with the dogs and enjoy the nice weather.

Have a great day everyone!

Debra, sorry you're feeling under the weather. Hope you feel better soon! :goodvibes I'm clueless about any races right now. My next surgery is in three weeks. Everything is kinda on hold until I see what happens. Only race I know I want to try to get into is the Peachtree in July. Marathon Weekend is out for us, hoping I can talk DH at least into the TOT. Toying with the idea of the VA Beach Half on Labor Day...

I lost a toenail when I trained for my first half. This second time I didn't lose one, matter of fact never had any issues with blisters or anything.

Trying to get motivated to go out. I'm just not a cold weather person. I need to get by behind moving, though cause it is early release day for the kids. I'll post back if I make it out!

Good morning all!

I have a training question.

My next half is Febuary 14th. Got the email from Galloway today saying we are doing 14 miles Saturday. Personally I think that's too close to the half for me. What are your thoughts? I wish it was more like 9 or something.. just not sure what to do.

So far I have been lucky and get to keep all my toe nails! I have a wide foot at the ball area so I have always had to get shoes with pretty wide toe boxes. That could be why.

Was in a WARM location earlier this week and did 5.2 miles and last night did 2.5 miles on the treadmill.

:rotfl: Great start to my day! :rotfl:

Got the 6 miler in. Not too bad a pace for me either. Glad that is done. I was procrastinating this morning.

Carol, Galloway has you running a 14 miler for a half? I wish I could find a group closer to me for when I ever do a full. What run/walk intervals does the group have you doing? Enjoy this weather, they are talking snow for us next week! :scared:

Carol - When our Galloway group does anything over 10 miles, we always come back to our base location at 10. That way people have the option of doing different distances. Any chance yours does the same? If so, you could just do 10 this weekend. Or you could come to Raleigh tomorrow and do 10 with us... but that would probably be just as tiring as staying home and doing 14!

Yes, they have us doing a 14 miler. The current group is very small and has just a couple of intervals. I know theres a 2/1 and a 3/1... The group I was with last was bigger and has LOTS of groups. They have started up in training for CMM and I will proably swap back to them.

I fly out late Sunday so I should miss the SNOW! Back to Southern California.

Turns out we have an "out at 8" option which I am going to take. I think two weeks is too close to the race for 14 miles. This group is suppose to be gearing up for the same half I am running, but most of them are younger so I guess they recover faster!

Carol, are you running with the group over in Sandy Springs? Did they do a Disney Full group? I might drive over for the LRs if they did when I finally get around to running it. It is looking like 2011 will be the magic year.

Hi, friends....

Sorry I'm missing. I came down with some kind of flu this week (and of course it's the end of the semester so I have to go to work). I'm off to take some meds, get some rest, and maybe stop by here later.

Hope everyone else is having a good week....

You know I don't know where we are "based" but it doesn't seem like Sandy Springs. Saturday we are in Decauter.

I am in the half group. But I know there is a full group. They are building towards the Breast Cancer race that's the middle of Febuary so it wasn't perfect for Disney, but since I transferred from the "fall" race group it was a good way to stay in training.

Tracy - those look like they would be good for my son, and his blisters. Would I be able to get those at my local running store?

Ya, I'm pretty sure there is one in Sandy Springs. I'll go check out his website again out of curiousity...
