Wk of Jan 21--WISH Walking/Running Club

Hi Harpoon Enthusiasts!

The race is actually in June (my bad). I spoke with DH and he will call them, so I should be able to post more information tomorrow. He has an inside track, so we may get the scoop!

Wouldn't that be cool if we could have a *WISH* running group? Y'all are all alot faster than I am, but it would be neat to know we're all out there.

I promise, as soon as I have more info, I will get it up here!

Maria

Thanks to all for your B2B marathon advice. Funny, Hal considers 8 weeks or less B2B and I'm worried about 11. lol. Holy cow, Hal' sprogram seems intense. Putting 16-milers on either side of 20-milers. I need to compare his regular plan to MfM and then perhaps scale it down a bit. He runs you hard (and no 3-day run weeks?)

mpgulskr - :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Sorry, I just noticed that you actually eidt your posts and correct spelling. See my sig. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: (OK, I'm lazy, what can I say?)

I also found out that Manchester is bringing back the marathon this year. It also includes a 1/2. I think it is October 4th. I was thinking about doing the 1/2, but I will have just completed the VT50 bike ride the weekend before and I'm not sure if I would be able to run.

The Manchester race is Nov. 4th - I was tentatively planning on that one too.

Maria - I am a John Bingham "Penguin" - not what anyone would consider fast!

Good morning Team.

I am not worthy of posting this morning. Today was suppoed to be a XT day, but, well, it was so cold and our bed was so warm, and I was tired.....:confused3

OK so I did nothing. I'll do it tonight.

Judy-- Charlie is soooo lucky. In 2002 we did a big full family 9 night trip to WDW and I looked into the RPDE for Paul and just couldn't swing it. Probably a good thing, though, otherwise we might be stuck with a less "hunky" hero

Sunny - RPDE was my wedding gift to him. It was a total surprise. It's a great story and some day when the boards are quiet (OK like THAT will ever happen!) I'll tell everyone about it.

All this talk of brassiers....no wonder Dave, Paul, Craig and Kevin are MIA. :rolleyes1

Vic - Did you ride or drive? I really want to do it. Maybe in January. I heard it may go away so I'd better do it soon! Charlie had the BEST time!
50 pushups, 100 crunches and about 6 dips
Only?!?!?! I can't do ONE pushup! Sad, but true. Hey, really nice gym! Charlie has a punching bag downstairs. He is a Master Black Belt and sometimes I hear him downstairs punching the stuffing out of that thing and I think "Gee, don't ever get him mad!"

Kristi - Calling the Tag Fairy on Vic? That's just cruel! :lmao:

Lynnda - I'm so glad you guys are coming to the Minnie! :yay:

Krista - Whoo hooo! 1000 posts! :woohoo:

Steve - Yeah, it's time to stop carbo loading. I officially stopped yesterday and immediately dropped two pounds. Only 38 more to go! :scared1:

Bill - Wow! Running in smoke! That's one issue we haven't discussed here yet! And geez, thanks for the visual of Vic. :rolleyes2

Jackie - That's too funny! :rotfl2: I hope I keep up my side of the conversation. But, ummmm, what Donald medal picture in my signature??? :confused3

Paul - Oh there you are! Yay! :upsidedow

Actually, many would look at the paces you just posted and argue with that!

Maria - We are all shapes, sizes, experiences and paces around here. I bet we have at least 1 person who runs oyur pace.

I did it! I just went to the website, and signed up. DH and I are officially registered for the Donald. There's no turning back now! I think I had to do it, just to make it *real*.

I hope those are butteflies of excitement, but I think I'm feeling fear! Just committing to this is huge for me. I am on my way!

Maria--Congratulations!!!! :dance3: :woohoo:  :cheer2: You are getting ready to go on the greatest ride of your life!!!! You will love it!!!!

Colleen--~cough~ Flying Pig 1/2 marathon on May 6th~cough~

Carrie--Hal Higdon's plans are HARD!! Reading them doesn't seem too bad, put when you actually plug them into a word document for a schedule. :scared:  Stephen and I tweaked his novice/intermediate half program for me for the Pig. I got the mileage up to 12, but I'm doing less speed work (I'm doing the 3/1 approach vs. running 400 yards at a sprint) and I gave myself a one week taper.

Judy--I always love to hear a good story. ;)

My thoughts, exactly!!

OK, after a year of posting, I finally figured out how to work "View First Unread." If you go to a page you KNOW you have been to, and THEN hit "View First Unread," it really does take you to the first post you haven't read. I was always missing posts, or going to the newest page (as someone said would happen) when I used it..so, hope this helps others to keep up here! :goodvibes Anne

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Don't forgrt VIc too! I say THAT's the sign of a real man! ;)
OK, I'm here, I'm here... sheesh, I guess I have to post even when there's just pages and pages of sports bra talk. Hmmmm, maybe I can get away with wearing one of those sports bras. They'd be just like a crop top tank top right? Hey Carrie, can you cut the bottom off my WISH tank top before you send it to me, and I'll wear it as a sports bra. There's how's that for sports bra talk?

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I'd love to DAve, but Scott helps me ship. After teh booty incident, I don't think he'd let me play here any more if I was sending you a sports bra. :p

Krista - I just called the Embassy Suites in Covington to see if they had any rooms for the Flying Pig 1/2 on Saturday, May 5th, and they said they were sold out already. OK, not too surprising, but then the receptionist sounded really bitter and said "besides, the Flying Pig decided not to use us as one of their hotels." Uuuum, OK, I guess I won't be staying there then...

Yay! you will LOVE this ride. Yes it is excitement, fear, and all the rest knowing you are doing this. We will enjoy your training as you go through all the ups and hopefully notsomany downs of all this. You will do it!

YIKES!!! That sounds like great customer service!! If you are having trouble finding something closer to downtown, look north (VERY IMPORTANT: above exit 14 ;) ). There are some hotels in the Sharonville/Evendale area right off 75--exit 15/Sharon Rd. (very safe, I work off Sharon) and you are still really close to Downtown. There is also a nice Marriott off exit 19/Union Centre, that's considered West Chester. I don't know how $$ that is, but again right off 75, a really, really safe area (we used to live off this exit before we built our house), and still only about 20 minutes from Downtown. Both exit 15 and 19 have lots of places to eat at the exit and within walking distance of the hotels, if you want to gamble crossing Sharon Rd and Union Centre Blvd--both pretty major road ways. There is a Rave Theatre and a little outdoor shopping area at exit 19, that's maybe 5 minutes from the Marriott if you are looking for something to do and relax on Saturday.

We live above Union Centre, so we'll be coming down 75 on race morning, we could always stop by your hotel and have you follow us down, if you are unsure where to go. I'd offer you a ride, but I drive a Saturn Ion and Stephen drives a Chevy S10, so it would be a very tight ride!!!

And yet, Stephen is still here. Hmmmmmm. ;)

Leave it to my DW to drag me into the sports bra talk.

Actually, the only reason I've been silent on the matter is because I don't like the lime green ones. They rub my in all the wrong places. TMI....

Funny, though, when I wear my heart rate monitor, I'll get about a mile into the run and have to reach back and adjust the back strap because it keeps sliding around. Can't imagine how bad it would be if it was a real bra. So ladies--I feel your pain! :)

Steve

Krista - i think i used hal's program like you are going to. I end up getting injured every time i try to do speedwork and besides, its not like doing it is going to make me win the race:rotfl2:

BTW - Krista & Stev - There's a year-round campground in Cinci, around exit 10 on 75. Is that any good? Would my parents be safe there for a night?

OMG. I saw an thread on MiceAge, as it tied to an article about the half there. It was so mean, elitest "runner". Have I mentioned how much I love WISHers?
