Wk of Jan 21--WISH Walking/Running Club

Hey, did y'all get these brightly-colored bras in the sportwear section of Target? I saw them, but didn't try them on because I was afraid they wouldn't hold everything in and secure (TMI, perhaps?). Should I go back and give it a try?

Yep, that's where I got mine. I am very modestly (B) endowed, so it's not an issue for me. I don't think they would work for a larger cup. I think things might be flyin' all over. :rotfl:

Hey all, I got to the gym at lunch and did a 30 minute power cross trainer workout. It feels great to back in the grind!!! The scale is 6 pounds down... CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?? I am so stoked. I lost nada during the last 3 months while training for the 1/2, now it is falling off. AWESOME.

Judy - I am PMing you!!!!

Have a great day all and happy training. I have spent way too much time playing and don't have my work done at all. Shame on me.

Yup, those are the ones. I've decided I can wear them OVER my real running bra unless it is wayyy too hot outside.

Oh, that's what I thought. Maybe I'll be able to lose some of this extra weight and then wear one of them. Believe me, right now, NOBODY wants to see anything of mine flyin' around! :rotfl:

Hi everybody!!

I am going to have to go to Target and check out the cool sports bras.
As a C they hold me pretty good, nothing flapping around at all.

Did a really good 10 mile LSD today with wind walker.

Ok, a serious question. The Capitol 10K here in Austin is being held on March 25. DH and I are thinking of participating - ideally we'd like to walk/jog it. Do we have enough time to work up to 6.2 miles? We've been doing our walking program for 3 full weeks now, and we're both feeling pretty good so far. I just don't want to push too hard, too fast.

10% increase per week is the goal.....don't know where my marathoning for mortals book is--but it is feasible. the race is less than 9 weeks away (but who's counting???? :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 ). A half marathon training program is about 12-14 weeks and that is for 13.1 miles. So it is totally doable.

Just do not increase total milage per week by more than 10% and you will be okay.

Carrie, if you are interested in hooking that paragraph that would be great. I'm glad I could spark a few folks into joining in the posting for the time of our lives! It really does make this whole training thing much more meaningful.

:confused3 My brain is slow. Can You explain?

The ones that are on sale this week? I always stock up on those when they go on sale. Here's what I do for running, I wear one of the long ones over one of the short ones - works like a charm. I love the exercise clothes at Target - they're so cute and inexpensive. And with the beating my exercise clothes take, I hate to spend too much money on them.
I squeezed in a short 3.5 mile run before my doctor's appointment today and now my IT band is tight. Luckily I got my podiatrist referral so hopefully I'll have all these gait issues addressed in the next month. I can't believe I've waited 1 1/2 years to get this taken care of. :)

wow--I can't keep up with all the posts!! But, I love reading all the posts, even if I don't have time to post myself.

I was able to get outside for a 3.5 mile run this afternoon. I finished in 33:46 which I was very happy with. It is quite cold out today, and very overcast. But, I got out and finished my run!

Welcome to all the new WISH members, I am quite new myself, and the support here is wonderful!!

To those that responded about the GU shots--THANKS!!! I am going to try them during my next long run.

Laurie

You're not going to believe what I've been doing all afternoon.... WORK! I'm so ashamed to say it's the first time I've engaged my brain since Goofy... Hmmm, is it possible to engage one's brain post Goofy?
Anyhoo, I'm finally biting the bullet and trying to be responsible and all. Boring.

Judy-- Charlie is soooo lucky. In 2002 we did a big full family 9 night trip to WDW and I looked into the RPDE for Paul and just couldn't swing it. Probably a good thing, though, otherwise we might be stuck with a less "hunky" hero:lmao:

All the pre-race talk of green bras had me worried. I was afraid that might become mandatory WISH uniform and I'd have to be out:eek: Lime green bras and zebra pants just don't work on me:rotfl2:

Welcome Maria and Erica:yay: and everyone else I've missed. It takes me a while to start recognizing new faces... um avatars.

Kristi-- please don't push too hard to fast, it really isn't worth it. Stay in touch with your inner penquin ;)

Sunny

In regards to the bras, which one's did everyone get? I got a green one but it is not as bright as the wish shirts. Did other people get that yellow that was really bright??

Sunny - also related to the bra topic, could you email me the wish graphic w/o the lime background? I was going to print it out on my computer and try to iron it on the front of that bra.

Sure thing, I have it at home. I can also put it on my website so anyone who wants to print it out can. I just have to remember when I get home...

Man, you guys are a bunch of "Chatty Cathies." :)

Cecilia and Lisa - Goofy! Cool!

Maria - :welcome:

Jen - Way to go on the workout and weight loss!

Judy - I did the RPDE in 2005. It was cool!

Glad I don't have bra issues. Well, if I don't start doing some upper body work... :rolleyes1 Of course I'd have to get a "Bro." :lmao:

Wow - didn't this thread just start yesterday? Lots of talking going on here!!

Maria - welcome! I am new hear again.... :goodvibes

It doesn't matter that you have started before. This is the time you and I will finish!

So, I did 3 miles at the track today. Pace was around 15:30. I'll take it!! Did lots of stretching.

Off to make dinner. I have to work tonight. Don't think I will fit in a workout tomorrow. Kids activities win out!

Here's to a great night!
Maggie

Ok, so I'm back again for a short post. I just wanted to proudly proclaim that this is my first soda-free day!!! I've decided that in order to get in better shape, I am laying off all carbonated beverages. Which is hard for me, because I'm pretty much addicted to all Sprite and Sierra Mist. But I've made it through today, and I'm just gonna take it day by day by day.......

Also, does anyone have any tips about getting rid of bile in your mouth?? I run on our treadmill and so I can't exactly spit.......I don't think Mom would appreciate it. I normally keep a bottle of water near by, but I use that for drinking so I can't rinse my mouth out with it. Or well, I technically could, but it'd gross me out. So any ideas?????

:lmao:

Ok, did someone say the lime green bras were on sale at Target this week???? :yay:

I am worthy of posting! I went to the Y and did 3 miles on the track. Here's the rundown (w3/r1):
11:56
11:43
11:59
35:40 All 3 miles were sub 12s! :woohoo:

I did sort of have an asthma attack since I pushed it.
But it was worth it to know I 'still got it!'

And to be honest, I mostly skipped any xt in the past, except for the bike. I never do any strength training. I need to do strength training of some sort. Esp. now that I am in this wedding in October and all the bridesmaid dresses they are looking at are sleeveless. :scared1: So, I should do some serious arm work so as not to knock anyone out with my flabby upper arms! I am really bad at sticking to a weight routine. I am going to see if I can get into a body scuplting type class at the Y.

Oh, Mom, Chad & I are signing up for the 1/2 in NH on April 1st. I have to go plot my training on my calendar now...
