Hi All, well I did my 1 hour 10 on the exercise bike Sunday, I tried to go on my real bike. Tim pumped up the tyres, I got it into the back of the car (we live at the top of a very big hill and I wasn't sure that was a good plan the first time on a bike in nearly two years!!) and drove down to my nice flat starting point. Got it out of the car, strapped on my little helmet, started pedalling - and nothing. Someone, mentioning no names (TIM, TIM, TIM) had forgotten to check that the chain was actually connected to the gear thingies - and I don't have a clue!!! So, I popped the bike back in the car and drove to the gym.
Thanks for the link to that sports injury site, apparently I have a fat pad contusion - and I must build more fat under my heel (where's the biscuits!). Annoyingly it repeats the words my physio keeps muttering 'this is a very difficult injury to treat' but does suggest heel pads so that I'm not pounding it when I walk generally so I'll be off to get them today. Tim keeps reminding me that it's less than a week that I've been resting it and they told me 2-3 so I shouldn't panic yet that I still feel it. It is improving slowly
Diane: yep, subject to the above healing at some point in the next 3 months, I'm going Goofy. I'm already planning the trip as a whole, though Tim won't join in as he points out that maybe we should concentrate on the whole emigrating thing first!!! Which brings me to Mel's question, we're off to Sydney, I need to live in a big city for a while. So, that's my lot for today, enjoy this weeks running (weep, weep). Helen

and I am in charge of the DDs for a while. He's been gone 1 hour and counting so far.
If it's too hot for the Minnie in May, I'll be ready.
I have also heard that it is one of the more fun runs.
So we stopped, picked up a cake, and downed the entire thing, then continued on to the race. I woke up before we actually started the race, so I have no idea how effective the ice cream cake was for "pre-race fuel." I'm guessing not so good.
that the when isnt for a very long time. And I agree with the others
Yes, you are an athlete! and an amazing one at that!
Ive also been dealing with that nasty stomach bug thing so that probably hasnt helped either. Got to the gym on Tuesday night & since I wasnt feeling too great decided to walk on the treadmill at a comfortable pace for 35 min. (including warm-up & cool-down). Went to the gym again on Friday night. Did 25 min on the treadmill at run 3 min @ 5mph / walk 2 min @ 4mph (plus warm-up & cool-down.) It was hard adding the extra min of running and the 1 less min of walking, but I survived. When I finished I saw John wasnt ready to leave yet & I really didnt feel like doing anything else, so I stayed on the treadmill. Plus, the gym has little tvs on most of the treadmills, ellipticals, & bikes and I was really getting into the show I was watching.
So
for the next 30 min I walked. Started at 3.8 mph and slowly increased to 4.3mph. It sure was tough trying to walk at 4.3 mph.
If I can do it, I think pretty much everyone else can....true I didn't finish in the time I wanted, but I did it and that was a huge accomplishment.
, unless I can get to the gym around 6pm it's not going to happen
