Wk of Jan. 20th-- WISH Walking/Running Club

I HATE THE COLD!!! :scared:

Got out this morning and froze again. My toes were numb.

Ran 3 miles at an average pace of 10:17. Decent enough for me, was supposed to be a moderate paced run.

OK, off to shower! Hope everyone has a good day! :goodvibes

Oh, is it my computer or is the DIS running slow??? :confused3

It's still slow...seems to bog down every once in a while...I'm sure they are still working out the kinks from the upgrade a few weeks ago.

...at least we avoided that freezing rain this morning...supposed to be 60 again in a few days :sunny:

Kristi--   I could never hate you!!! I have already gained 5lbs (all in one certain region  ) and some of my clothes are starting to get tight. I think I'm going to have to invest in some clothes in the next few weeks. I still can't figure out how Christa got back in her normal clothes a week after her baby was born. I'm hoping I'll get that lucky!!

Krista

My DH was very happy when I gained there. I think he wishes I still had it!!! I was playing competitive volleyball at the time and had to make some major adjustments with net coverage though!!!!

I was definately not that lucky. When I got pregnant I was 21 and was never really into exercising but had managed to stay relatively small and eat whatever I wanted. I thought I could continue eating Taco Bell every night and not gain any weight - as before :rolleyes1

WRONG - Gained 60 lbs with first one. Yeah that didn't look to good on my 5'2" frame :scared1: DH likes to tell everyone I looked like a linebacker :lmao: Tried to better with second one, did a little but after Seth was born was where my quest to get fit started which evolved into running marathons 4 years later :confused3 How did we go from I will do step aerobics to lose my baby weight to hey honey lets run a couple 1/2 marathons.

I wouldn't have it any other way :)

Greetings Race Team -

I think I have a dominant hibernation gene. In this cold, all I want to do is sleep. But...I didn't. I got up this morning and did my little 22 minutes on the TM. Next week I start my MFM plan for the Minnie. Which is kind of good because it just doesn't seem worth it to get up at 4:15am and trudge downstairs to do 20 min, KWIM?

Mel - Umm, OK, I'm sorry but...... :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:  :rotfl: :lmao:

Martha - Even in the pictures where you think you weren't doing so well...you still look really cute! :cutie:

Dave - You anywhere near those three feet of snow that just came down? I suppose we shouldn't vote for the same picture more than once, should we? :rolleyes1

Kristi - Oh no! I'm sorry you aren't feeling well but the DD hot chocolate will definitely help! That Chad....:cloud9:

Angie - I can't imagine you with 60 extra pounds. You're a little reed! :goodvibes

Count me in as another that was a big as a whale during pregnancy....I was giving Scott a run for his money there for a while. I remember getting on the scale the week before Matthew was born and thinking, "I better be delivering a 40lb baby!" He was a tank at 9lbs 1 ounce but somehow the other weight didn't just magically disappear (along with those lovely stretch marks) Oh well, it's gone now, and I have to admit that I'm much healthier now than I was before either of my kids were born. And what's this I read about Christa being able to fit into normal clothes a week post-delivery! I took my "skinny" maternity jeans (what an oxymoron that is) to the hospital to wear home, and they didn't even fit!

Okay, enough of scaring Krista.....good thing we didn't start these discussions before she got preggers!;)

This is my 500th post on this DIS boards (I think I had about 25 in 4 years on DIS at this time last year prior to finding this WISH sub-forum) and I just want to express a few things to the WISH team.

I know, in general, that most of my posts have been devoid of any helpful advice as to training or participating in events. Hopefully some day I will be able to share such information as my goals still include completing a half marathon, a marathon and maybe even a Goofy, including accomplishing all of these at least once at WDW.

I have mapped out a training plan for 2008 which starts tomorrow. I am beginning again at ground zero and am starting with an 8 week 5K training plan and increasing from there. By January of 2009, I intend and hope to make it to the starting line, trained and healthy, for the ... time will tell.

The main thing I want to say in this post is THANK YOU to the WISH Racing Team. Since I started posting here, you have all motivated and inspired me by your training, events participation and overcoming of injuries and other set backs.

WISHers have also been extremely generous as to, among other things, providing advice, answering questions from me and other newbies, giving time in organizing shirt, hat and other WISH merchandise orders, organizing group meets and events, bringing gifts to share with the team, pushing us when we have doubts, picking us up when we "fall" down, cheering team members when not participating in or after completing events and making everyone feel like a part of the team.

To all new team members -- welcome. I was disapointed in not being able to participate at this year's marathon weekend, but I did have a chance to meet many WISHers for the first time at the ToT event in October. Although, because of other commitments, my time with the WISH team was all too brief, everyone I met seemed to express genuine concern, friendship and happiness that I made it to the start line and, albeit slowly, also crossed the finish line of my first event.

There are too many people to list individual names, but THANK YOU all. I look forward to seeing you at the 2009 WDW Marathon Weekend at various WISH meets and in the starting corrals as well. I also hope I am able to see some of you at other events before then.

Does it count that I gained a bunch of "sympathy" weight when my DW was pregnant with DD6 pooh:? It's taken me all this time to finally lose it.

Dave - You anywhere near those three feet of snow that just came down? I suppose we shouldn't vote for the same picture more than once, should we? :rolleyes1
Wow, no I missed the news about 3 feet of snow coming down. Was it near Syracuse? I'm an hour west of there, but that's Kathy's NYCPA and Erin's home base. Judy- I don't think you can vote for a photo more than once, can you? I guess I haven't tried.

Thanks everyone for voting for the photos. I really appreciate it. OK, here's my blatant plug for photo votes. Since I can't add anything more to the pregnancy weight discussion.
DIS UNPLUGGED PODCAST PHOTO CONTEST
I'm begging for HELP from my WISH teammates! Please vote for my Podcast Photo Contest Pics! Could I recruit some of my friends/teammates to check out some of my photos and vote if you like any. Thanks. If you want to vote for a photo, I think you need to log into the photopost site. Click the login link in the upper right hand corner of the blue box.

Krista--I forgot about the growing foot thing. When my DW recently recounted her change in shoe size to DD#1, that was what finally put DD#1 over the top and she expressed proud and strong: "I am definitely going to adopt then!"

NEPatsBill - OK, I was going to be really mean and say "Look! A lawyer with a heart!" but I won't, cause, well, that would be mean. Although funny. :lmao:

That was a very nice post you wrote. I agree with what you said and I too feel very lucky to be a part of WISH. :cloud9:

I met some of you at Disney last week!! (Did the half marathon). Please sign me up and how do I buy a WISH shirt??? You guys were so much fun! Thanks for the encouragement and support you've given me already! I can't wait to get active on your discussion boards--I have so much to learn!

off topic, but I don't have a final chip time, it stops at mile 20. Does that mean that I didn't finish in the required 7 hours? When I crossed the finish line the large clock read 7:16, but I thought that wasn't "Your" official time?:confused3

I didn't get on the TM last night. It took me 1 1/2 hours to get home. They shut down the highway, while I was on it, because of a pile up. So we dwaddled our way home at a snails pace. If the weather would have been better I could have ran home faster. I know were weren't 26.2 miles from home, so that would be a piece of cake right!! Did I mention our temps haven't gone above zero this week????

Dave - I hope I did it right, I rated the pictures. I didn't see a place that said Vote. Let me know if I need to do something else.

Krista - My hair changed too! My color is now more like it was when I was a kid. And some people get curlier hair. Being PG really does weird things to your body!!!!

Bill AWESOME 500th post!! :wizard: I think you have started - and I agree wholeheartedly with your post - thank you for putting it into words!! :goodvibes

You are also an inspiration - and I'm hanging on - I wont make it '09 - but I do hope all will be there for 2010!! :wizard:

Don't the feet have to grow to help compensate for the growth up top? Otherwise they'd tip over? :confused3 ;)

Bill - ((hugs)) Great post. WIshi I had met you at ToT. :(

Mel - That stinks! WHat a bummer to go in unnecessarily! BTW, My year starts with Marathon. Actually, I think it ends that way, because I already want to lsay last year's marathon. But no, a new year does not begin until after amrathon.
