Wk of Jan. 20th-- WISH Walking/Running Club

Evening all! Well, had my first "real" workout post marathon. 3 miles in 27:something and then some arm weight work. Felt really good--almost to the point of wanting to register for the LR Half in March. Okay, so I really want to register, but don't know.......I'm hearing all these members at the club talk about their training and I want to jump in. I'm such a junkie!;)

Angie--:sad1: This is me about the Minnie this year. We had a great time last year, didn't we? So, you and Bobby want to drive over for ToT in the fall? Huh, do ya? Do ya?????:rolleyes1

Christa--I know how ya feel about crappy marathons! Luckily the great time with the WISHers overshadowed the not so good race, so I'm ready to back next year. Like I said, I'm a junkie! Good luck with the tri-training

Krista--LOVE the new ticker!!!!! Ditto what everyone else said about the tiredness (hey, just think of it as training for what you'll feel like AFTER the baby is born;) )

Okay, crazy kiddo needing me. Have a great night all!

I did 7 miles today and I'm a little worried. I feel better now (other than a sinus infection) than I have in months. Is it just the high from the Marathon? I feel like I could run forever. I even got it up to 10 minute miles today and could have went faster, but held back.

I only "WISH" I lived in a warmer climate so I could do a February/March race. :rolleyes1

Krista - I felt most tired during both the first and third trimesters. Second trimester was better, but I still got tired more easily than usual. And I was really lucky - I only ever had a couple of coworkers try the unsolicited belly rub. Hopefully you'll have the same luck!

You know what I'm enjoying the most about not being preggo anymore? The ability to bend over and tie my own shoes. :lmao:

Gotta go grab a quick bite while the little one is sleeping!

Evening everyone!

I did a short workout this morning: 30 min cardio. Yesterday I did 30 min of cardio and then weight work. Boy, that really felt good. I'm treating myself to only 4 workouts a week for a little while. Surprisingly, when I was on the elliptical, my IT bands were tender but not like they were on Sunday. Maybe they are getting better.

goofyinohio: :thumbsup2 on the 7 miles!!

Stephanie: glad to hear the 3 miles went well. Let us know what you decide about the March race.

Mel: hahahahaha!!! Aren't you a good do-be for getting up on a holiday and go to work without needing to!!!

To everyone who has posted pictures from marathon weekend: THANK YOU!!! They are great and I love seeing them (well, except for the ones of me; I wasn't doing so well.....).

Have a great weekend everyone!

Great job on the workout, cant wait to be back there. And I am so pathetic I am the poster child of junkie right now acting like a crazy person because I cant run yet :scared1:

Also we were already planning on TOT :yay: I am not missing that fun 2 years in a row. It will be hard for me to give up RFTT it has sentimental value - it was our first race together where my addiction began :rotfl: Maybe we'll do both :rolleyes1

No training today, had to go to the county fair DS -11 Science Fair Project went to districts. So tomorrow will be Pump and Bodyflow. I think Friday evening will be my first run back. Today is the first day in 2 weeks my back doesn't hurt :dance3:

Mel- Here is another web site that will make and sell team apparel: http://www.soark.com/clubs.shtml They only have singlets for men & women, but they do have lime green. Also, the women's singlet has a lower neck. They can also make team shorts. The best part is that you can order from the site directly and Carrie will no longer have to take & ship orders. That way as new Team members join, they can always get WISH gear and not have to wait for a group shirt order. They make t-shirts also, which would be great for the scream teamers.

please add mkymsehi, and mushu pork

Hey everyone :wave2:
I just joined the W.I.S.H team last week (Do I have to do anything to really join? Or do I just keep posting?) and also decided last week to start training for the 1/2 next year :woohoo:

I have Marathoning for Mortals waiting to be picked up at the bookstore tomorrow, I'm so excited to start reading it. I've also been reading the Couch to 5k plan.

I want to start training so badly, but I really need to get some real running shoes this week. Any advice on good shoes would be awesome :thumbsup2

Good Morning TEAM: :surfweb:

Wow, everyone is sooooo chatty this week. Must be the runners high from the marathon weekend. Not much news for me. I've been nursing my hip which has a tight ITB. I've been using the stick on it which really, really, helps. Yesterday I did 10 min on the exercise bike, 2 mile on TM, 10 min on bike. It was a good workout for me, and the hip felt OK. I'm not going to push it too much because I don't need to at this point.

Everyone is doing so well getting back into their training.

Krista- I just wanted to say Hi, and hope things are going well for you and the new Steeler fan. Say Hi to Steve for me.

Welcome Mkymeshi - I think we have some WISHers in Hawaii or heading there this year.

Welcome ArelysAdriana - Marathoning for Mortals was such a great book for me as I was training for my first marathon (Disney 07). The book and this team got me to the starting line. As far as shoes go - the best advice is to go to a good running store, have them analyze your feet and running style, and have them fit you. A good running store will let you try out shoes to make sure they work for you. It's the most important investment you'll make.

goofyinohio- Great job on the 7 miler. Are you joining us for the Cleveland Marathon in May? We're getting quite the WISH team together for that one.

Mel- Thanks for working on the Race Ready shirts. I'm excited for them.

Sorry for those I missed, but I'm just trying to keep up.

OK, here's my blatant plug for photo votes. Thanks to my teammates who already voted. Can I get some more to vote?

Nope - you in are in & part of the team if you post here!
I think everyone here will tell you to go to a local running store and getting fitted properly for running shoes.

Krista - (More advice that you probaby don't want ;) ) But no one ever told me this, and I know you love your heels.... My feet permanently grew! I kept waiting for them to go back down after having Zack. Nope! I had to finally throw out all my old shoes and start replacing them one one by one. So, maybe don't go buying any nice new shoes you plan to wear afterwards, just in case. Apparently, this is common - who knew? I went up about .5 to 1 size and haven't gone back in over 4 years. Then again, I got as big as a house, and I know you are not going to do that.

My big plan to get going this week is majorly derailed and I am bummed.
It started with a cough thing last Monday and now is a sore throat, feverish thing. :sad2: I took yesterday off from work to get things done around the house and ended up on the cuoch all afternoon. I am still sick, but had to come to work today since I am alone the rest of this week.

On a good note (sort of - this screws us up majorly with Zachary), Chad is working the early morning shift here too today. So he brought me a hot chocolate from DDs! :cloud9:

Good morning everyone! It has been hard to keep up with this thread!

Today is another running day for me. At the end of this week I'll complete the 21 days it takes to create a "new habit." It helps to know you guys are cheering me on.

Krista - Congratulations! I have 4 kids, and pretty much echo what others have said about what to expect during pregnancy. I was exhausted the first trimester, felt great during the second (actually, I felt as good as I've ever felt in my life!), and then in the third you start to feel the stress on your body as the "beached whale" phase of pregnancy sets in. It is an amazing adventure, and truly transformed my relationship with my body in a good way. My life wasn't just about me anymore (something I guess I'm still making my peace with)! I look forward to celebrating this journey with you.

Mouse Skywalker - I don't think I will be doing Cleveland this year. I'm planning on doing the Flying Pig in May down in Cincy. Although I haven't registered yet and may just end up in Cleveland.

WHAT??!?!?!?!!!?? I'm not going to be able to wear my beloved shoes anymore??? :faint: :faint: :faint: :faint:

Hope you feel better soon!

Krista

Krista: I guess I was fortunate not to have much swelling and foot growth during my pregnancies. The only time I had an issue was when my SIL was graduating from Northeastern and I was about 6 months preggers and it was 90+ in Boston where we had to sit at the top of Boston Gardens. My feet, however, have grown since I started running, go figure. Here's hoping that you get to keep all your shoes!!

Kristi: Are you doing the More marathon? I found the Vermont Marathon on 5/25 and we could enter a lottery to be a 2 person team (each running a half)...:rolleyes1 You can find the info under runvermont.org. There is a lottery to choose teams for the relay.

Is anyone interested?

You are not going to get as big as a house (like me) though!
Maybe just don't buy more shoes now, just in case.
Oh, and buy slip on ones for this summer... :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

I was very sad when I had to throw out some awesome new sandals and other shoes I had just bought the fall before. Even my every day sneakers never worked for me again. And once I started complaining about this - everyone told me that I should have known that happens. Huh?

You are going to be fine. You are such a little thing and probably will be one of those women I hate that just get that 'basketball belly' and are back in normal clothes in a week....(CHRISTA!!!) ;)

And shouldn't you be laying off the heels now anyway, missy?

Lisa - Umm.....you run alot faster than me. Heck, you RUN! I mostly walk.
I don't think a team would work with us, but thanks for thinking of me. :goodvibes

Not necessarily! I am an 8.5 narrow still after 3 kids. My shoe size NEVER changed!

Awww Kristi, we still love ya!!! ;) You are not alone in the bigger than a house category. I clocked in at a whopping 182 the day I delivered my DD. Yep, that much. I ate right, took care of myself, exercised. I was in maternity gear by 3 months and it took me 2 years to take off the weight. Hence, the 7 years between children. The basketball belly fascinates me, how do you do it?????? :confused3

Also, you need to give yourself more credit. I think you would do just fine as part of a relay team. :flower3:
