Wk of Jan 14--WISH Walking/Running Club

You know what I got from my manager when I came back to work on Tuesday?

Him: "How'd it go?"

Me: "Oh it was fabulous! :hyper: We had the best time! :yay: We had so much fun. :yay: I can't wait to do it again" and so on and so on....

Him: "Well, you're back now."

Umm, OK, gee thanks. Can you rein in that enthusiasm there? Don't get too excited for me now, will ya? I mean, just take it easy.

:rolleyes2:

Dave--Regardless of what I do, Stephen is pretty much committed to the Flying Pig half, so we will be there for sure.

OK, so I'm lucky. My boss adn teh vp and my branch manager are all into Disney. My friends that aren't, pretend to be for my sake. ;-) It was hard to go from running the whole way last year to having to walk this year (not hat I personally discredit walking by any way shape or frm, bu I know tha tothers do.) Anyway, several co-workers had my tracking info where I said I wanted to do it in less than 5. We had the company holiday party Saturday and everyone congratulated me. You made it! was all they said, but at least they did not comment on my time.

Krista - Maybe you shoul dcome down for teh Minnie instead of teh pig this year. I'm sure 9 miles would be much easier on teh IT band! ;)

Stephanie - That kind of attitude caused me to gain extensively before my first marathon. :rolleyes1 LAst year, I lost a whopping 2 pounds over a year, partially due to being sick after CHristmas. Thi syear, I want to lose 10. It won't be easy, though. The "I jjust ran X miles and I can eat whatever I want" syndrome is a tough one to overcome. Good luck!

Wait. So you're saying we are NOT still carbo loading? Geez, I haven't stopped! :confused3

:lmao: Yeah, me either. Luckily I walkedit off last week. Need to change my ways soon, though.

Gosh, I'm gonna go register for the full so I can get in on the booty-grabbin' action :thumbsup2

Where was I when all of this was happening? :confused3

I am definitely going to make myself available for this in 2008. ;)

DUDE! I missed the booty grabbing!;)

Dave, Heather, Steve, Judy, and everyone else who has had people say stupid things to them about the race...SO SORRY! I hate it when people say, "Oh, did you run the whole way?" And then act like 26.2 wasn't a big deal b/c I didn't run every step. So now I just say Yeah, I pretty much ran the whole way....b/c they don't understand....I mean I ran like 4 something hours and walked around 5 min the whole race...so WHATEVER!:headache:

Melissa - You are too funny! Thanks for the encouragement b/4 the race...I almost chickend out of giving it my all and when you said, you only have to shave 1 min a mile off your time, that really helped me the whole race. Even though I did not get sub 4, I did my best...and there is always the next marathon....:scared1:

:cheer2: :cheer2: WISH TEAM!!!::cheer2: :cheer2:

and that INCLUDES all of the newbies and lurkers (:wave2: ?elmo! I met you on the course of the full!)

You've heard of taper madness? Mostly, people think of it as winding down until the actual event. THIS taper madness is winding down AFTER the event! Love those new siggie pictures!!

CAM, I agree with Carrie. If nothing else, they should be able to relieve the pressure and make it more comfortable for you!!:upsidedow

nucpharm29, You are doing such a good job with your routine!! Keep it going!! 16 miles in the raine..AWESOME!!!
sap1227, Didn't you do the Minnie last year? Wasn't it YOU that kept me going? It drove me crazy because I met two Christy/Kristi's at that event!!
Maggie, yea!! I remember you! :) I'm so glad your hip is doing better now! Just take it slow and easy to get back in! You will get there!!

And I was just calling Chad crazy - now I can call him Dopey! :rotfl:

Ok, off to fix the flat tire we woke up to this morning, in the ice storm. Thank God it did not happen at midnight driving home last night! I will head out to dodge the falling trees and report back tomorrow.

Will someone PLEASE tell me why I don't live in warm & sunny Florida??? :confused3 :sad2:

Mel, that's too funny! My sister and I were talking about my race plans for next year at lunch today and I was explaining what you have to do to get the Goofy medal. She said that sounded pretty Dopey to her!

Anne - the temp changes are definitely crazy!! It seems like all i can get are extremes for temps!! The one good thing is that I can work out the kinks in what i need to wear/eat, ... for really cold conditions and really hot conditions! I did a lot of heat training this summer and was able to find a good combo of clothes, hair styles and nutrition!

For all you booty grabin' wanna be's - so sorry, it's not something carrie and i just give away! The moment has to be right! (don't worry, we are not trying to come up w/ a new official WISH greeting or anything!)

Judy - I'll bet the whole booty thing is worse than all the virtual kisses we gave you a couple of weeks ago

Does that mean we have to go back to the boring old secret handshake?

I did do the Minnie last year, but I don't think I kept you going, my friend Sara had to keep me going:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rotfl: :rotfl: . I do remember meeting you though!!

Christy

Hi everybody!

It was really cool meeting everybody at the Pop and all the cheering during the races.

Dave (windwalker) and me are already signed up to do Goofy in '08!!!

The weather here has put training on hold until tomorrow! We are one of the lucky ones who only got rain! Hopefully all the WISHer's who got the ice storms are okay!

Erica

That is referred to as the "Dopey" :lmao:

Oh, I LIKE that!!! :thumbsup2 When you look at Wendy's pictures, you would never know.

Kristi, So, Chad did that, too?? We should start a club for them...:dance3:

Gosh, I'm gonna go register for the full so I can get in on the booty-grabbin' action :thumbsup2

Oh, yeah, Mel, go for it!

I was going to mention the butt grab episodes but I thought, "what happens on the marathon course, stays on the marathon course!":lmao:

Good afternoon, WISHers!

Welcome back for the last few people returning from the marathon weekend!

I made it to the gym today and did 4 miles of speedwork on the TM. I started reading MfM last night. It's really inspirational. And it's helping me put together my training plan for this year. Since I know I can run 15K already, I'm going to work until May (Minnie) to find my race pace. Then I'll spend my time until the fall adding mileage to that pace for a half marathon and beyond.

That seems like pretty sound reasoning, right?

In other news, it's supposed to snow AGAIN! I broke down and bought some new snow boots on clearance at REI. This way I'll at least be able to walk outside without worrying quite so much about losing toes to frostbite or falling on my butt. You people from places that normally get snow are probably laughing at my consternation over this stuff, but I promise you this is really unusual weather for Seattle. I live at sea level - we never see snow this far down from the mountains.
