Wk of Jan 14--WISH Walking/Running Club

I'm back!

HOly cow, I'll never catch up. I got to about page 6 of last week's thread, but if I wit to post unitl I completely catch up, I'll never make it.

I had hoped to do my trip and race reports today, but seem to have had a relapse of my cold.

Have we seen Kevin yet??????

Since I got home bery late Friday, I am still in withdrawl. However, it's been eased greatly by Registering for the Minnie! Huge thanks to all that convinced my dh he should make me do it! :D

I miss everyone already. This was my best WDW trip ever. meeting so many and rooming with Cam and Howard so I had someone to share my DIsny stories with was great.

The race started great. Nothing hurt! Unfortunately, as you may have noticed by the fact taht I was so hot that I bared my belly (yuck! My apologies to all who saw), it was wayyyyy tooo hot for me. I'm just glad that I made it and did not bneed medical assitance after teh race. More details when I do my race report. Huge thanks to all teh WISHers who encouraged me from the sideline or when they passed me. You are all wonderful!!!!!!!

Kim - If you can't do Amazon, let me know and I'll get a copy of MfM and ship it to you.

Heather - Goofy? Really? You are insane! Way to go!!!!

PS - We are doing the full next year. Still not insane enough to do the goofy. ;) However, dh is talking about doing Deteh Detroit full in laste October. ??? ANyone know if 10 weeks is enough time to recover adn prep for anohter one?

Finally, my apologies and congrats to Mel on teh Gators win. I don't know what happened to U of M adn OSU, but they make me hang my head in shame for putting down the other teams. :sad2:

Anyone else in NW Florida going to run the Bridge to Bridge on Sat Feb 3rd? It's a 15k (same as Minnie) and goes from downtown Pensacola across two bridges to Pensacola Beach, DW and I will be there! Just done a couple 2 milers myself in the last few days, taking it easy post marathon. No injuries or blisters or anything, just general tiredness.

Matt, won't be able to make that one.

It was great to meet everyone at the EPCOT desert function. I am looking forward to learning more about everyone this year. What an awesome group of people!

Susan

:drive: by post:

Walking Report: Did 1.2 miles for my 9th consistant night! Doesn't sound like much does it? Especially when I add that it took us 23 minutes. Oh dear... But luckily that includes a dd2 bathroom break. :upsidedow

Mel-I thought the POP meet was awesome. I didnt care for Trail's end last year. I ddint really get to mingle since I got there late & I didnt really like the food. POP had a great selection & it was good to mingle before, during & after we ate. It was also perfect if you had kids in tow. They ate before I did & watched cartoons. I also loved the Boardwalk Bakery. We had never been there & the kids want to stay there next year. The boys could entertain themselves while I talked. And the food was great!

Carrie-Glad your coming to Minnie!!

Terri- I think an Ironman in Feb. is a great idea!

Krista-great pics! During the race I said I would probably not do another one. I was thinking the whole time- why the heck am I doing this?! But its like childbirth, you forget the pain & remember the pride & joy of it all. Otherwise you wouldnt have any more kids or sign up for any more races ;)

Well we are finally unpacked & have put up all the decorations. I am now preparing 2 rooms for new furniture that is being delivered. Boy my house is an unorganized mess & its getting on my nerves. I am re-doing 3 rooms :crazy2:

I am going to be working too much on the house & kids stuff this week so next week will be my official "get back into it" to train for Minnie.

Tiff - What does this say about me???? I've done lots of races, but I was only brave enough to have 1 kid:confused3 :rolleyes1 :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

We did not get any major icing, but unfortunately, they cancelled school, so that means no preschool for the boy. He has not been in school since b/4 christmas as he was out a week for disney. It's not that i think he need to attend preschool to be smart, its that i need him to attend preschool for my sanity!!!!!!!

Happy Monday to all!

Hey Christa - I would love to run with you and Bree but I am really way too slow to keep up. This morning I did 2.13 miles in 30 minutes so you can see I am far from my 10 minute mile goal. I hope to get there in the next couple of months and then build out the distance so I will be ready to train for real this summer. I might try for the Thunder Road (just the half in Dec.) Great pic of you and the Mickey bling by the way!

Krista - What a nice picture of you and hubby post race. I would never have known you were in pain from the big smile on your face. And by the way, thank your Steelers for the spanking they put on my Panthers. I was there and it was not pretty! :sad2:

Back to work I guess. Have a great day everyone!

Good Morning TEAM! Hey, I just got some photos from my SIL (Cool Aunt) that I thought I would share with everyone.

Nearing the finish at mile 26.

Just wanted to stop in quick and say hi! We got home just before 2am this morning, ugh! So, I have tons of unpacking & errands to do since we've been gone over two weeks.

Also, did anyone else end up with a horrible stomach bug from WDW? I started getting sick on Thursday and it went from bad to worse. Yesterday all day in the car was horrible, but I think I am starting to recover now. (fingers crossed, knocking on wood) At first I thought it was my achalasia / swallowing problem. Then we thought food poisoning, but we can't nail down anything it could have been from. I am going with 'crazy-virus-from-kid-a-Mom-let-pee-over-side-of-monorail-platform-at-TTC.'

I'll catch up later! :wave2:

Dave I love that picture of you and your family walking away at the end of the race....makes my heart melt.

Welcome home also to everyone who came home this weekend.

Kim

Kristi - my mom got that stomach bug there. I saw a ton of people hurling in the bathrooms this week. In fact, it made me think of Judy's advice to sing the birthday song every time i washed my hands!!!!!!

Carrie - Glad to see you back!!!!! It sure was fun seeing you on the course this year!!

Melissa - You are so funny! I don't think I'll ever be able to think about you w/o giggling now.

Hi WISH team,

I don't know if you remember me, I use to try to keep up with all of you last year, but I dropped to lurking for the past 6mo or so. Anyway, mid last year I injured my hip, and after 8months of PT and going back to a sedentary lifestyle, I am back to try again. Still not sure what happened to my hip, but it feels okay with just a few twinges here and there.

I actually was at WDW with my kids Jan1-5 and saw some of you at PORFQ. Boy, did I feel low. I totally wimped out! :) I realized how much I felt like a part of this group and how much that I needed that to keep moving.

So, last week I pulled out my WISH team shirt and walked 3 times at 2-3 miles each. I took it really slow and stretched my hip tons! I also took a yoga class with my dd16.

I am off to walk again today planning on 2 slow miles.

I must say that I am amazed at all of the teams efforts and stories. Thank you for sharing them.

Maggie

Melissa - You are so funny! I don't think I'll ever be able to think about you w/o giggling now.

hee hee:) I'm thinking of all kinds of funny things that I just can't bring myself to type!!

Maggie - welcome back! I'm glad you hip is feeling better!

Good morning Team. :)

It's another totally miserable day here in New York. It's positively gloomy. Plus it's Monday morning...Grrr...However the good news is my work email is down so now I can catch up on everyone's race reports! YAY! :yay:

Yesterday I did five miles on the TM. In an attempt, no, in a plan to increase my speed, I have stopped walking and started doing a slow jog. So I jogged the entire five miles at 4.0 This morning I did three miles at the same. I figure I've got a year to get faster......

I have so many posts to catch up on, but here are a couple of thoughts....

I am so sorry many of you had stonker runs at Disney. :grouphug: Being my first ever long distance event, I was happy just to finish it and not get swept. But I feel badly that so many of you are disappointed. Don't be too hard on yourselves please. Look, it was HOT. Really darn HOT! Please cut yourselves some slack for that. You finished, doesn't that count for something? Well, I'm proud of every one of you anyway. :thumbsup2 Especially those who struggled and kept going. :woohoo:

To all of your newbies...:welcome: I'm certainly no expert, but I just want to give you my two cents on something I have been reading about here lately. If you are right now just starting, please reconsider going Goofy in January. Those folks who just went Goofy last weekend have worked long and hard to get there. I'm pretty sure they didn't just start running last January. I'm not saying you can't do it, I'm just saying RESPECT THE MILES. 39 miles is a LONG way, It's a heck of a commitment to training. It's time consuming and hard! Don't take the Goofy lightly. That's all I'm saying.

Cam - If you could email the pics you took before I hit the ground, that would be great! Honeibee@yahoo.com. Thank you so much! As soon as Charlie send me the ones he took of you I'll forward them on.

Anyone hear from Kevin? :confused3 I hope I didn't scare him away.

Laurie - We go to Westchester Road Runner all the time! We live about 30 min north of there. They are great there, aren't they? It's a dangerous store, though. I notice my paycheck kinda dissipates there....:rolleyes1

Melissa - I THINK so! I had to keep asking Karen "Now, who was that?" (Im getting old, ya know...) Next year we are definitely staying longer so I can spend more time with everyone! I felt cheated! Oh did you remember to NOT sing Happy Birthday out loud? Hee hee. :rotfl:

Kristi - Oh no! I'm sorry you got sick. :guilty: We didn't catch anything. Except a severe case of PDD.

Dave - Great pictures! What a cute family! That one at the end is a classic! And may I just say, you still looked totally fresh at the end of the marathon. You look like you could have gone another 26!:thumbsup2

About the shirts...I agree with Pat. I love our WISH shirts, I love the design and color. However, maybe different options would be a good thing. But man, you have to agree, you can't miss that color in a crowd! While we were cheering on the Full in front of the BC, some lady was sitting on the rocks behind us and asked me if she could take a picture of the back of my shirt. We got lots of compliments on them during the Half.

About the meets for next year - I loved the PC meet! What fun and what a great place. As for the other events, I can not comment since I had to go home....Grrrr.

Speaking of next year...any thoughts on where you're staying yet? Cam, will you guys be at the BC again?

Charlie's birthday is at the end of this month. I asked him for some suggestions for gifts...Here's his list: A Forerunner, new Sauconys and an AmphiPod. Think he's been influenced by you guys? Not much! :rotfl: HA HA HA!

No fair keeping secrets!!! What's the joke?

OK, but you have to promise you won't think we're odd if I share. ;)

Melissa, Steve, Colleen and Dave caught us at around mile 9. Melissa tells me that she was going to grab my butt, but did not know how I'd react. I laughed and sauid, "I probably would have hit you, but would have apologized later when I found out is was you." Anyway, when you guys walked teh Contemporary Hill, as you promised Colleen you would, I caught up and got Melissa's butt. Not as funny if you weren't htere. The really funny part, though, was Scott had no idea why I was grabbing this woman's butt until well after the race was over. He thought it must have been "something you guys do on the boards." lol. :dance3:

BTW Dave, that's why I made the same comment to you when you said you were going to yell Go USC.

Training - Scott and I attmepted our 3 miles on Friday morning, but my kne was not happy about it. I think we'll probably hit the TM tonight, as winter has hit in MI again.

Shirts - Please put your comments on the shirts thread I started, so they are all together. I cannot find anything singlet-like that is safety lime. So, if we go that route, they won't be as bright.

I have no idea how I missed this. I must have been totally out of it. I do remember you making that comment about you would have hit me but apologized for it later. Now it all makes sense. I still can't believe I missed you grabbing Melissa's butt. Guess I was in the zone.... (more like just zoned out).
