Hey, what are friends for?
Maggie, YES you do need a Garmin and TM! You will be amazed that you did without once you have acquired these toys er I mean tools. (I hate my TM, but was grateful I had it when I did the 22 mi. LR indoors instead of the slippery snow.) Garmin is the BEST toy I own!magslite said:Pace - I seem to be at a 13.5 min pace. Listening to all of you, I realize I am pretty slow. BUT, I am enjoying myself and meeting my goals. Oh, and my knees don't ache if I take the time to stretch enough!
Thoughts on free sport & WISHers: I am daily telling myself that I don't NEED the Garmin and a TM is not necessary!![]()

Maggie - You are doing GREAT! 12 hour shifts!magslite said:Good Morning,
I started working 12 hour shifts this week at the hospital and worked the last two days. I can't believe how many pages of threads I missed! Wow, so much talking.I had to put on a Barney DVD for my boys so I could get caught up.

Thoughts on free sport & WISHers: Being a nurse, I have always had good shoes, so not a big deal. I have a free membership to a great workout facility/wellness center at the hospital I work at. However, I have now bought underarmour cold gear for running outside, running pants, socks, & top from target for my indoor runs. Not to mention the registration fees for the 3 events this year, plus the cost of a trip to Disney in Jan. I am daily telling myself that I don't NEED the Garmin and a TM is not necessary!![]()
Off to spend some time with my boys. I haven't seen them in 2 days!

You are the WOMAN! You are not slow! About the Garmin - I have never trained with one and I have been running about 4 years. But I do have a Ron who I run with. He has a GPS program and has run 60+ marathons, tons of tris and a few ultras.
Craig...have you dropped off the face of the earth?
Will trail run tomorrow for 2 hours with the NC group. It is calling for snow.....Don't laugh all you people in the north. If we southerners see just 1 flake, we get excited and panic!

I probably won't be on line all weekend. I'm supposed to get my new horse tomorrow but we'll see about this ****** winter storm coming our way! We are also supposed to go on a hike on Sunday at the new Nature Preserve down the street from our house. I was really looking forward to that but I don't know about doing it in 12" of ***** snow!

Oh, and by the way, as far as your DD acting like a teenager getting ready? You ain't seen nothing yet -- just ask Sunny or me!
I hope there was some dinner left for Tim when he got home! Wine makes me hungry, too!

Actually, I think ending the session in the fetal position was pretty soothing, too! The good news is that I finally think I have "hands to heart center" down pat!
That's about what I can manage at this point!
<--- Hey, maybe there IS a use for the ciggie guy!
and I hope it will carry her for the next 5 weeks until she hears from her first choice.donac said:Amy, where in Nj do you live? I am in monmouth county just down the road from Long Branch, but I have relatives throughout the state.

You dont have to be in first place. It is ok to take 7 hours. I trained to do 7 hours and managed a pace to clear my full in 6 ½ hours. I didnt over do and I had the most fantastic time!
Anyone else need the nudge? You can do this and it is early enough in the training that you can complete whatever you choose. I registered last year for both races thinking I would do the one I felt most trained to do and whaddya know the rest is now history. (Actually, I hoped Id be doing the full but DS caused me to register down to the half b/c I wanted to run with him. I wanted that full so bad I worked for it.) Dont over train, just train and XT. Build your base now and put in those steps too.
Commit to the registration. It is part of the journey. The roller coaster ride will really begin when you make that commitment. Take the full experience.
I have this HUGE mental block about the Full Marathon though. It seems like some kind of alternate reality for me. YET...I really have this itch to do it. I don't know.....I'm really torn right now?!
. But were you guys in any serious pain during the run or did you feel good? I know that may be a silly question...and maybe I don't want to know the answer LOL....but I guess I'm mentally preparing myself for the journey!
I am soooo excited. I love it
Too bad we are going to have cold, windy, rainy snowy weather all weekend. Not good for riding. I just rode around the cul-de-sac & up the hill with the kids (we're at the bottom of a hill , so I get hill work right off the bat) Cant wait to hit the bike trails.
for Stephen.

All right, so here's the deal with me, and some of you have heard bits and pieces of this. I am definitely considering the full. I've always had a dream of running a full marathon, and that's what I would most like to do. The reason I haven't signed up is not so much because of the race and distance - it's more because of the trip to Florida in January. I think I can do the distance, and with the support of everyone here I know I can make the full.Posted by AmyBeth68: So Dave....what are you planning to run? We are definitely in the same place in terms of training. Are you considering the full yet???
birthday is the day before the race (Jan 6th). If you want to do a marathon why don't you do one closer to home? What's wrong with the Rochester Marathon in September (I was actually thinking I could do the 1/2 in Sept for training)."
birthday, the holidays right before, and school and stuff).

He doesn't know yet. I'm hoping my subtle plan of coersion over the year will get him there (and he'll think it was his idea if I really pull it off!). But seriously, I feel a constant pull between my heart's desire to train and race and my family, work, etc. I envy the couple runners/walkers here sooooo much!
