Dena-with training, you could do it without losing any weight. Trust me, there are some very skinny people there & some very not skinny people there. You will not even be close to being the biggest there. I can guarantee there were thousands of people there over 200 lbs. It is a very accepting, supportive atmosphere. Everyone (even us little dogs) are made to feel comfortable & that we belong there (because we do
) If you are wanting to lose weight, go ahead & start working on it now. This is the time when you "train to train" and work on weight loss. Then in the fall is when the serious, scheduled training goes. Someone here said before that for every pound you lose, you take 5 sec. off your time automatically. Plus less weight is better on the knees. Good luck! You can do it!!!!!

You could probably see the cramp because since your such a small size 4 now, the muscle had now where else to go but out
Maherae-if you are going to the chain athletic stores, their sales people probably dont know what they are talking about. Find a running store & you will find plenty to chose from. Welcome! You have plenty of time to work on that pace. Just keep in putting in the steps & you will get there.
I'm going to try walking again today. However, its going to be on the dreadmill so I'm not looking forward to it at all. I am have also narrowed down my choices for bikes & am trying to make the decision. Do I get the cheaper bike that is good & I know will be good for what I'm wanting it for or do I spend a couple hundred more for the one that is really good & I would have more fun riding. Being a SAHM it's hard to justify spending so much more when I already spend so much on this far from free sport. DH is great & has said to get whichever I really want. Decisions, decisions........
