Carrie -- I swear, I want to chuck it all and just eat whatever I want for a while since it doesnt' seem to make a difference anyway. But, unfortunately, I am only done 51 days of my 100 day cheat free challenge (which I am hosting so I really can't blow it! :crazy2: ), so I am determined to stick it out for another 49 days. At least that challenge is done before the Minnie, so I am definitely going to splurge when Rhonda and I are there that weekend.
I htink I chucked it most of last year and that's why I am wher I am. :crazy2: I still have those days, but when I think I'm doing well and the scale does not go in the right direction it's sooo frustrating.

Kevin - If you're body's saying it's tired, you may want to listen. No good injuring yourself now. Or maybe just walking instead of running?

YOU MUST NOT MISS MORE THAN 1 RUN, THOUGH! (Where's that drill sargent smiley when you need it?)

Hi all....snowing like crazy here today. :crazy2: So much for my run. I guess I really need a dreadmill....I was supposed to get a 30 minute run in today. So now I'll mess with my schedule and do XT at home. Tomorrow can be a run day.

Kevin: Good for you for listening to your body. Maybe a walk would feel good though to clear your head of the stress! :goodvibes

Cam: Going back to the DL picture :sunny: . We fell in love with DL. I know I sound like a broken record but I really wish I was doing the DL half. Any excuse to go back to DL!!!! You guys are going to love it! pixiedust: Also GREAT run yesterday!!! How was your breathing?

Carrie: We'd love to see your nieces and nephews :). And pics of you guys too! LOL....I was going to post a picture of myself that my DD took before I went running the other day. But ACK!!! :scared: Wouldn't want to scare you all!!

Aladdinsgirl: :rotfl: Good luck with your weekend run. Hopefully you won't need Dr. Phil by the time it is over ;).

Tiff: WTG! Great exercise day!

Now I have a funny running story for everybody. Sorry this is gross! You've been warned!!! :scared: Last week my sis and I were going to run (she never ended up going with me) BUT...she warned me that she spits when she runs. I was sort of grossed out...but she said you HAVE to spit sometimes when you run distance. So I kind of thought ewwww my sis is disgusting and then promptly forgot about it. Well....fast forward to my running day on Sunday. It was FRIGID cold as usual. I am all bundled up, even had some ski gear on LOL. So I get out there and begin my run. At some point I realized...OMG she's right I feel like I need to spit. But I decided that I'm WAY too lady-like to spit. So I don't. But again it happens, I feel like I need to spit so I say....what the heck...if my sis can spit so can I. Who cares if it's gross. And so I turn my head to spit and ACK  !! I forgot I had my fleece neckwarmer pulled up to my nose :rotfl: . OMG....now I've got spit inside my neckwarmer. YUCK YUCK YUCK!!!! That didn't go well at all. So now I don't think I'll ever spit again :guilty: . Guess it serves me right! :rotfl2: Now you guys can tell me....do runners really have to spit????

OMG, Amy, I almost spewed my coffee on my laptop! :lmao: :rotfl:

Thanks for asking about my breathing. Still the same. No improvement. Gonna get a book on running physiology and try to figure this one out, as well as checking with the doctor.

It seems so basic, doesn't it? But last year I was having a real issue with my foot strikes and a bunch of people here responded to my pleas (I remember Carrie & Craig and Helen and Lily and Sunny among many others) and advised that my feet should hit heel first, then roll forward and that the placement should be as if my feet were parallel on either side of a straight line running between my feet. It made a WORLD of difference after I'd spent many wogs on the treadmill concentrating on striking heel first (instead of the balls of my feet) and keeping my feet parallel to each other.

Thanks again, everyone! :grouphug:

Now, I just need to learn to breathe!

Amy- That was hilarious!!!!! :rotfl: I was wondering why I have seen so many runners spit. Luckily I havent had that urge yet. :crazy2:

Cam- I am trying to be good until May too. I keep reminding myself of how hot it will be then & I will be less hot if I have less "insulation" However, once I hit DTD, all bets are off :thumbsup2

Krista-sorry I wont get to hook up with you at the CMC , but have fun at the Flying Pig. Do you get a pig medal?

Today is an off day since I did so much yesterday. It is so beautiful outside here. We have had wonderful spring weather this week. After today, its going back downhill though. I feel for those with snow :wizard: for you some spring weather soon.

Amy - I actually realized the use for the "farmer blow" on my 2nd 20 miler b/4 goofy. I perfected it on the 50k. Not pretty, but necessary

The pics from cowtown are up. I think i have some physiological issues. I look so funny running. I'm going to try to post the most normal looking ones.

Today we were suposed to orienteer (Sarah -ec- and I) and mt. bike, but it took us so long to find the checkpoints, that we only did that. It was still a good workout. we probably covered about 5k but i'm not sure. I'm going to try to sync the gps later to see and to help us learn from our mistakes!

OK - forget posting the pics, I cant figure out how to do it from brightroom!

:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao:
Amy - way too funny. I laughed out loud at that one! Ummm, you are throwing that neck warmer in the wash right? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

OK, I'm off to the gym to work out. Gotta get done so I can pick DD5 princess: up from daycare. Usually DW picks her up when DD8 princess: gets off the bus from school. However, DD5's princess: class were acting out nursery rhymes today. DD5 princess: went in dressed up as Little Miss Muffet, she had a spider, tub of cottage cheese (curds, eh?), and a footstool for her tuffet. Anyhow, DW couldn't tear her away without doing her skit - so I'll go pick her up when I'm done with work. We consider ourselves lucky that the girls have had such good daycare they don't want to leave. It lets me go exercise - which I will do now!

Stephen and I are putting are marriage in jeopardy this weekend, we are going to attempt to run 5 miles together. I know, I know, what are we thinking? Well, Stephen is still nursing a knee injury from the marathon and plans on taking the Flying Pig 1/2 very, very slow. And since I run very, very slow--there you go. :teeth: I'll let you know on Sunday if we are still talking!! :hyper2:
Christa--Wanna run the Flying Pig with us??? Stephen's cousin is coming from Ashville, you could car pool!! :moped:
Please don't tempt me..I would LOVE to do it! DH would have a cow! I think he is so over my working out and races! Mainly races b/c they cost $$! But to encourage you, DH and I ran most of our marathon training runs together and it really strengthened our relationship!

Amy - :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: Most of my running buddies do spit or just blow their noses into the air. :crazy2: "Farmer blow or Irish luggie" (SP?) is what it is called. I cannot bring myself to do it though!

OK..I have done NOTHING today! I am taking a rest day and I won't be able to work out fri or sat b/c I am in Mississippi doing a Women's Confrence. So there! :teeth: I think I am supposed to be tapering for my tri. Ha Ha...I am not sure it is far enough distance to taper for.

Amy - ROTFLMBO!!!! Yes, many runners spit. I've never had that need, though. SOrry about your nexk warmer.

That reminded me. I heard a new term that you guys will love. Instead of teh Farmer Blow, my BIL calls it "Snot Rockets." That one about killed me! ANother thing I don't do. Likely because I would do an AMy-type thing and have snot frozen to my face or somthing. Get my hood..yeah, I'd do that!

ARGH! Sorry guys, gotta' vent  . Talk about an ego blow. I would like to lose a couple of pounds. Not a bunch, but definitely a few so that my pants fit more comfortably. Otherwise I'd say that I feel pretty good about my body. UNTIL......I decided to do the unthinkable. I decided to take measurements thinking that maybe the reason I can't lose these extra pounds is muscle! I mean heck, I worked out nearly 6 days a week for the past 4 weeks. I should be buff, right?! Well my waist is ONE INCH BIGGER than it was the last time I measured. HUH???? Can somebody please explain. Then I tried on my swimsuit...the one that fit me nicely in December and I thought would look even BETTER now. Nope. I'm bigger. I swear, my body got bigger with all this exercise!

:confused3 Soooo.....what am I doing wrong? Please tell me b/c this is ridiculous! I knew I'd get muscles. I tend to build muscles quickly which usually is a good thing...unfortunately I have seemed to become, um BULKY instead of BUFF! :guilty:

okay...vent over. Sorry

And Carrie.....snot-rockets LOL! :rotfl2: Thanks....that made me laugh!!!!

Well look at this... I leave the board for a few hours to write a paper and here you all are talking about snot...... Sheesh! :teeth:

AmyBeth-- I'm a boy and all, but maybe it could be err... water retention?? Since you are exersicing more, you will need considerably more water, otherwise your body will start to hold onto it like a sponge..... or so I've heard.

OK, pretty cool thing... I was sorting through some stuff today (and not at all trying to avoid writing said paper...no siree! ;) ) And I came across the February issue of Runner's World which I hadn't seen since it arrived when I was running Disney. Anyhow, I had to do a double take because... I know the guy on the cover! He used to run track at the university I work at now. The issue is the one with "Great Abs" written on the cover. (Which... indeed....)

Ok, off to a lousey banquet-
Kevin (Solotraveler) :earsboy:

Kevin - What University do you work at in Michigan? Is that Grand Valley State in Grand Rapids, or was it Ferris State? If you don't mind me asking, what do you do? What type of paper are you working on?

OK, I did another 3 miles on the treadmill today at a solid 14 mpm pace. My legs are feeling pretty good, and my breathing has been good too.

Have a good night everyone.

Good training everyone. I have been lurking since the WDW half. i an supposed to be training the the Minnie but have become sidelined.

I have had trouble with tendonitis in the top of my left foot off and on t=for the last several years. It flared up after the half. I am currently in a surgical boot after having a cortisone shot in it this afternoon as it has been hurting most of the time lately. If the boot doesn't restrict the movement enough, it will be casted next week to allw it to heal. The problem with that is we leave for WDW in 2 weeks and she normally wants the cast on for 3 weeks.

She is attempting to get my foot healed enough so I can enjoy WDW without being in pain. I also met with my neurosurgeon today and discussed the nerve block they want to do on March 31 to get rid of the headaches I have had for almost a year.

I told Lynne earlier this week that I hate my body. I am getting frustrated with all the aches and pains of getting older. The mind is willing but the body isn't cooperating. I want to do the full next Jan but am not sure I will be able to get the training in.

Enough negative thoughts. I will go back to lurking and try to heal my body so I can start training again.

Kathy - so sorry to hear about all of your challenges. It is good to hear from you though! Is there anything in the way of exercise you can do in the boot or cast? Phil broke his ankle rock climbing a few years ago (almost 4 years and 9mos. to be exact) Anyway, he had surgery and had a cast and was non-weightbearing for 8 weeks! He did a lot of weight training (and obviously other crosstraining :teeth: ) He got pretty buff :-) Did I mention that the boy is almost 4? Sorry, I couldn't resist

Colleen - I use some shorts w. a really small fleece butt pad to do tri's and adv races. Are you doing a tri???? You wild woman!!!!!! Oh, bummer, I can't give you a web address for my cheap tri shorts, I bought them locally! If you want some, you'll just have to come visit me!!!

MelR, well thinking about doing a mini tri next month. My friend who is trying to get me into it keeps telling me it is not a mini tri but a "sprint" tri. AHHH, :confused3 there will be no sprinting at this end!

As for coming to visit, be careful, you never know when I just might show up for one of those crazy adventure races you do!! :thumbsup2 That would be great if we could get a WISH team out your direction for those intense races.

Rest day for me today. Mowed my lawn yesterday, put down 500 lbs of lime on the grass and fertilized. Whew, I thought I was in semi-good shape, but using those muscles I don't usually use really beat me up.

Cam - Some of that weigth has to be in muscle. Have you taken measurements? It really doesn't seem fair that we are exercising so much more, but still have to watch whet we eat. :grouphug:

I'm glad it's not just me. I've been on a wicked plateau since WDW...even with training for another half. I lost 20lbs last year, but I've got another 20 to 30 I dont want to be wearing for next year's race. It is soooo frustrating :furious:

My training's been a lot more inconsistent for this half, which may explain my weight issues. I'm starting to get a bit more excited/nervous...realized today that this half is on the anniversary of my first race ever last year...a one mile race that I finished in 16:02.

Cam...standard disclaimer...what your cardiologist says goes, but if it helps, I had a lot of breathing issues when I moved up from W3/R1 to W3/R2. It really took me several months to feel comfortable at that interval. I think someone already mentioned this, but you might try turning your pace down a bit and see if that helps.

Kathy...good to 'see' you again, but sorry to hear about your foot. pixiedust: for fast, complete healing.

Krista...Happy Birthday! Sorry I missed it...been really slacking on the list :(

Kevin...Happy Birthday to you too!

Dave...congrats on your workouts in Feb! 21 out of 28 is pretty impressive :worship:

Monica...great job on your walking! :cool1:

Amy... :rotfl: I generally try to keep my secretions to myself, so I can't say I've ever spit when I run. ;) I don't have to deal with cold like y'all though...my issue right now is sweat running down my face, which may be equally as attractive :scared:

lilLAgirl....welcome! Love the tiger eye on your field, but was dreadfully saddened by the results of last year's game (I'm a UF grad ;) )

MDM... :grouphug: my office manager's going through a similar situation this week. Glad you were able to get out and run a bit...might help to clear your head.

Just wanted to tell y'all how cool you are. Seems like when I'm worried or frustrated or don't know about something, someone else is going through the same thing and mentions it on the thread. Since I train by myself, I dont' really know how all of this is supposed to work. Nice to know I'm some of my issues are normal. Thanks! :grouphug:

'lousy banquet', isn't that an oxymoron???

Reminds me of DH when he complains about having to go out to a 5 star restaurant for business.

How can you tell I am sick of preparing meals at my house! Ah the life of a SAHM.
