Celeste - yes, I am still doing it. March 19th. It will be my first event. I hope it isn't too cold.

Wow nights - that's tough. I could never do it. These 12 hour days are rough enough. I am worthless when i get home.

I am glad you are still lurking. I had been thinking about you.

Off to work....
Maggie

I don't really have a choice about nights: we have to rotate every few months. 4 more shifts left: not including tonight, and yes I am worthless when I get home. Got a speeding ticket in Mundaline this morning- totally not fair. I was accelerating because there was a 55 MPH sign 100 feet in front of me- he cited me for doing 53 in a 40- jerk.

I almost decided to do the Shamrock shuffle: but the registration closed early. OH well.

I've been lurking and will not even try to keep up but...

MDM- :grouphug: for the difficult times ahead. Hospice can be a real help though.

Sunny- I'm here; I've been training and reading but not posting. I'm really hoping for a 40 degree or warmer high for that day though.

I found the cure!!!!
"For what?" you ask. I'd really gotten sick of getting dressed to go run outside in 20 degree weather so I did today's 3 mile tempo run(5.6 mi w/ w/u and c/d) on the dreadmill. I will be getting dressed to run outside tomorrow and will like it because I tasted the alternative today. Yuck, yuck, yuck. Physically, it was great- zone 1 HR for warm up and cool down, zone 2 creeped into low zone 3 but averaged zone 2 for tempo. Never really breathing hard or working super hard but mentally? Ack. :crazy2: I may still complain about the weather but you better believe I will be training outside. I think it is partly the enviroment though because I don't mind doing Spinervals sessions on the bike. But I'm following the coached workout and often times Maureen does it with me. (We are hoping to ride outside this Sunday though. The cut off is that it has to be at least 35 degrees.) At the gym at school, they have the dreadmills against the front wall so all you can see for the duration of your workout is your head and shoulders in the mirror. You'd fall off the back of the dreadmill trying to see the TV.

Oh, the real reason I actually decided to post. I've been saying that I can't make a decision about the WDW marathon(s) next year until after lottery April 7th. Not true, I found out yesterday. The track selections for the clinical year came out and our Winter Break is 12/23/06-1/8/07. It starts a week later than the past 2 years but... it includes the Marathon Weekend. My first comment to Mom on seeing it was "I'm going Goofy." I really regretted not going Goofy this year and am sure I would next year too if I 'just' did the marathon again. I will have to fly back out the night of the full though so I can be back for clinic Mon morning. If I get the location and track schedule I want I will be doing OB/Gyn for that block.

Back to lurk mode.
Keep training hard everyone.

Hi everyone. I took yesterday off because my ankle was hurting. Tonight after work I did 35 minutes of wogging (did I say that after reading these posts that I just LOVE that word!!) I am assuming that means walking/jogging. I am at a 2 minute jog, 3 minute walk. Still a newby and still have a bunch of weight to lose. Just weight until I am a lean mean jogging machine. Ummm... OK, that may never happen, but I can dream!!!

So my question of the day is... do any of you seasoned runners walk while doing a 1/2 or full marathon. I am just so new at this that I am having a ahrd time believing that I will eer be able to jog the whole thing. Heck, I am starting to wonder if I will ever be able to jog a whole 5K. It is hard work to get started doing this. What am I getting myself into???

OK, my tired self needs to mosey on towards the bedroom for a post wog shower!!! (love that word!!!)

Jen - I pretty much walk water stations in every race! I just did a marathon (aka 26.2 mile training run) and I walked mile markers/water stations and hung out w/ a couple of men who were doing 7/1 intervals. Their jog interval was too fast for me so they left me after about 1 hr. They fininshed 4 minutes ahead of me. My time was 4:45

I just checked the results and Me, Sarah(EC) and On-yee (Sarah's exchange student) each placed 5th in our respective age groups!!! Obviously mine was not as competitive as theirs, but that was so cool!!! Also, we all made the top 100 female runners, I was 67th (I don't know where they were, but they finished in 4:11) Oh, yeah, and On-yee has been having foot pain and she just found out she has a stress fx.!!!!! YUCK

I can't even begin to tell everyone how cute their pictures are! You all have great kids. One day I'll get DD's pic on here, but don't hold your breath. DH takes 2000 pix every time we go to WDW, but do I ever get any of them?

Mom is 3 slots away from a great Hospice home, so we hope that tomorrow or the next day we can move from the hospital. Thanks for all the hugs and words of encouragement. It's amazing how much better complete strangers can make you feel!

This morning I actually left the hotel early and got to run, and it was SO frustrating. I haven't run in a couple of days, and I felt like it was the first day again. But I got out there, and that has to be what matters, right? Each step I kept telling myself the DIS guys would say this is good!

66 days to the Minnie?

Keep the pics coming! MelR I have one of DD around that age dressed very similar!

I did my own little tri at the Y tonight. I thought my swimming lessons were tonight. Actually, I thought they were Monday and then I checked the receipt they sent me and it said Wed so I went tonight and found out they started Monday :( But I did 1500 m on my own, then a 5K on the TM (31:10) and then 10.5 miles on a stationary bike. I think I'll sign up for a spinning class soon. This wasn't half bad! The run wasn't totally awful, either. I still didn't really enjoy it but I didn't hate it either.

Time for bed. Tomorrow I'll find pics of my kids.

Sunny

 MDM...More hugs to you!!! I can't begin to imagine what you're going through. I have to say I'm so impressed to hear that you got out there to run. I know it may be frustrating that your run felt so hard, but keep in mind that you are running with the weight of the world on your back. Please don't underestimate the physical challenges of stress. You should be so proud of yourself for putting on your sneakers and taking a few moments for yourself, even if it wasn't your best run. Again (((HUGS))) to you and know that you are in my thoughts daily! Take care!!!

Good Morning Everyone: :surfweb:

Hey I wanted to let everyone know for the month of February I exercised 21 out of 28 days! :cool1: That's in large part due to the support I've gotten from this group. Thanks WISHers!

Yesterday, I did 3 miles on the TM at 14 mpm pace. I ran 0.25 mile for every 1 (ok - 1 lap out of 4). So I ran 3 laps all together. I'm still working on strengthening the legs - I felt a little discomfort in my shins, but my breathing is feeling a lot more comfortable.

OK, back to read all the posts now.

It's fun seeing all the pictures on the thread. Everyone does have really cute kids. I liked MelR's sentiment that our families do so much to support us - it's nice to put some faces to them.

MelR - I don't know if I ever said this, but congrats on your 26.2 training run! Sounds like you had a great pace for the training too! That would be really cool if you were at the CRIM. It is definitely on my training calendar for this year, but I just haven't signed up for it yet. Baby plunge?!?!? Whoa... too much information for me...

Monte - WTG on your TM workout! :thumbsup2 You're out there moving! Great job. :woohoo:

Hey Lynne - Great to hear from you again! Hey, if you have to buzz out right after the WDW Marathon next year - just make sure we have a chance to meet up with you and thank you for all the help and support you've been.

Jen - Rest days are good. I find my body dictates when they are at this early stage. Your workout sounds awesome!!! :thumbsup2 You're doing a 2/3 pace for 35 minutes, wow! WTG!

MDM - You did great! You're out there and moving and that's what counts. You have so much going on right now. Don't worry about the "quality" of your runs. Just give yourself some time to be by yourself, clear your mind, and focus on something else. :wizard: :wizard: Pixiedust to everything you have going on right now. I totally agree with everything that Amy said.

Sunny - Congrats on your Y-tri! :woohoo: Did you have the shorts with the little fuzzy pad on the bottom?

Yesterdays run is done :cheer2: :cheer2: I was not able to maintain 3 to 2 the whole time, though. I will be trying the same ratio on my next run and hopefully I will get closer and closer to my goal. pixiedust:

Tomorrow I will do todays cross training (thank goodness Friday is a real rest day and I can get back on track).

Am I the only one with only boys around here??

Here is a picture of Braden (4) and Brennen (2) from January when we were in Gatlinburg with DH's family

I have 2 boys too. They will be 4 and 2 this month. I also have a 15 year old daughter. I will post pics as soon as I learn how to do it. :sunny:

Doesn't that police officer know we are on the same team!! :teeth:

You must be exhausted. Hang in there.

Bummer about the registration. But, when I am out there freezing you can send warm thoughts my way. :sunny:

Well yesterday was my "day of exercise" I did my 40 min of wogging in the a.m., then ST at the gym. Then when DH got home, I had promised DS that I would go for a bike ride with him , did about 2.5 miles (mostly coasting so I could stay with him) and then swimming lesson last night. The swimming went great! The first time I've ever done 1100 yds :cool1: and I am about to the point of doing 200 (tri distance) without stopping at all. The coach is great.

I'm going to figure out how to post pics too, my DS's are cuties! Although I am still having to wrap my mind around the fact that my baby is now 5

Dave-WTG on Feb exercise! :woohoo:

MDM- 66 days to Minnie!! Aggh , got to get the eating better under control.

Jen-I know what you mean. I can't weight until I look like the athlete I'm tryng to turn into :cool2: I'm not a seasoned runner, but I walked most of the 1/2. I did run some & plan on running more for Minnie, but mostly walking. Keep up the good work. You'll get there!

Good morning everyone!! :sunny: I am so excited, I took Hines out this morning before I left for work and I swear I could smell spring. I think it's just around the corner. Okay, so it's 66 days until Minnie? That means that it's 67 days to the Pig. :scared: Stephen and I are putting are marriage in jeopardy this weekend, we are going to attempt to run 5 miles together. I know, I know, what are we thinking? Well, Stephen is still nursing a knee injury from the marathon and plans on taking the Flying Pig 1/2 very, very slow. And since I run very, very slow--there you go. :teeth: I'll let you know on Sunday if we are still talking!! :hyper2:

Yesterday I didn't do much training wise, just a couple of ab exercises and push-ups, I'm really trying to strengthen my core for the marathon. Wednesday's are so hard for me because of choir practice at church. I work about 15 miles from home, but church is about 5-7 miles from my work, so instead of driving 15 miles home and then 45 minutes later, driving 15 miles back down to church, I usually just go to the mall until it's time for choir (which Stephen loves :teeth: ). By the time I get home from church it's 9:15 and I'm starving, so by the time I eat dinner, it's close to 10:00 and I don't know about you, but I don't feel like running on the treadmill at 10:00. I was going to do pilates last night, but ended up just going to bed. I'm going to have to figure out a better plan!!

Can you tell I'm loving the smilies today?? :thumbsup2

Melissa--the boy is SO cute!!! And that picture definitely shows he's got some spunk. Does he take after Mommy?? :goodvibes I have to get a picture of Hines on here, actually Stephen will have to show me how to post pictures. That would be very, very bad for you guys, because I have lots and lots of pictures!! Oh, and I can I tell you that I think it's funny that you talked Phil into running a marathon in a few weeks. Most people train for months to run a marathon and you guys are like, "Honey, what do you feel doing this weekend?" "Oh, I don't know.....I know, let's run a marathon!!!!" :rotfl2:

Christy--Your boys are very cute too. Grrr, you guys are making me want babies!!

Christa--Wanna run the Flying Pig with us??? Stephen's cousin is coming from Ashville, you could car pool!! :moped:

I better go, I have some work to do. With spring coming, things are starting to pick up again, I guess the carnies want all their concession food for the carnivals!! Talk to you all later!

Thanks for all the great pics!!! What cute kids! (I may have to torture you with the niece and nephews soon to keep up. ;) ) I won't mention indviduals, because I know I'd forget someone and feell really bad. They were all very cute!!!

Amy - FYI - There's an edit option that lets you resize in photobucket if you're worried about the pics being too big when you put them in your post.

Dave - WTG on all those work outs!!!

Jen - Many people here do r/w.

MelR - I do not count walking through teh water s tations as walking. That's hydrating w/o spilling. PLease don't tell me that doesn't count as running the whole way! ;)

Krista - Been wondering about you. Good to see you!

Hi, everyone! Glad to report I did 2 entire miles this morning on the dreadmill in intervals of w3(at 4.2)/j2(at 5.2) so that I finished the 2 miles in 26:10 (13:05 pace!) I know I couldn't sustain that at this point, but I do think the jogging improves my walking pace, too, so that is an improvement. It used to be that after jogging for even a minute at a slower pace, I'd need to recover so desperately that my walking pace slowed tremendously, wiping out the benefit of the jog interval.

So, for those of you who are struggling or wondering if it gets better, I promise it does.

For everyone who is struggling with their weight, can I just say "I feel your pain?" I am nearly in tears when I step on the scale each morning. I am following weight watchers religiously and working out 4-5 times a week consistently and my net weight loss since August 1, is 8 pounds. I can't tell you how disheartening that is. I just keep admiring the smaller size pants and skirts in my closet and the piles and piles of clothes in almost 6 sizes in my guest room that I have to get rid of, and that is the only way I can keep doing this watching every bite I eat routine.

I'm glad I skipped the gym last night. Howard and I had a relaxing evening (after delivering tax stuff to the CPA -- YUCK!! ) and watched a lighthearted movie. Glad to say I did not eat chinese with him. :teeth:

Happy training all! Keep up the great work! You keep me inspired and motivated. :grouphug:

Cam - Some of that weigth has to be in muscle. Have you taken measurements? It really doesn't seem fair that we are exercising so much more, but still have to watch whet we eat. :grouphug:

Carrie -- I swear, I want to chuck it all and just eat whatever I want for a while since it doesnt' seem to make a difference anyway. But, unfortunately, I am only done 51 days of my 100 day cheat free challenge (which I am hosting so I really can't blow it! :crazy2: ), so I am determined to stick it out for another 49 days. At least that challenge is done before the Minnie, so I am definitely going to splurge when Rhonda and I are there that weekend.

Good morning all!!

Xterratri- Yep, one treadmill run will make you long for your long johns. As will the 1/9 mile indoor track here :crazy2:

Jen- I do intervals for almost all of my runs with almost no change in my overall time. I certainly did intervals for all of my long runs during training. That's why being able to run for so long during the marathon suprised me. Oh, and I walked through every single aid station as well.

Sounds like everyone else is doing really well with their training also. :thumbsup2

I did my speedwork last night: 10 laps around the indoor track- 1/2 leasurely walking, 1/2 full out sprint. It was incredibly crowded by the time i got up there... and WHY OH WHY won't people glance behind them to see if anyone is coming up on them before stepping right in front of you?!?! GAH!

I'm supposed to run today but I'm not sure if I will. :worried: I'm supposed to get 3.5 miles in, but I'm honestly completely burned out. Between work craziness and midterms, I'm feeling a bit :tilt: I should find the time to get it done--- maybe sometime this evening when the ice will have melted off the streets. I think this is the danger of not having an event anytime soon... it's SO easy to blow stuff off.

OK, back to work here--
Happy training!
Kevin (Solotraveler) :earsboy:
