Hello everyone!

For those new to us, we are a group of people who are planning to participate in walking/running events throughout the year. For most of us, the ultimate goal is to train and compete in the annual WDW Half/Full marathons. We'll also be posting news and training for various other events throughout the year. We range from non-running beginners to triathletes. Come join us, whether you're training for an event or walking/running for fitness!

This week they got their little paws on Paula Creamer's check from the Fields Open at Ko Olina Golf Club. This one is for $195,000.00.

Once again, the DD's didn't offer to pay for any of my race entry fees, instead they spent it on candy. That's it, I'm cutting off their allowance.

Those that have provided email addresses at this point have committed to 104 hats or visors thus making the cut for the 100 item pricing. The total stated interest is currently at 114. Thank you:)

Down to just six weeks of rotations left- two more here in ME and then 4 of pediatric pulmonology at home. Training is going well with 4 swims, 3 bikes, and at least 5 runs a week. Really looking forward to being able to bike outdoors but don't see it happening for a while yet.

I have not seen anything about this movie but from the responses here I will definitely have to look into it. Does anybody know if it is out on DVD by any chance? We don't get many (acutally we don't get any) first run movies over here so if its in the theaters I will just have to wait until I get back.

Will finish up a 24 mile week tonight with a 6 mile run at a comfortable pace. We are starting to get a little warmer (sorry all of you with snow up to your armpits) with highs in the upper 70s, lower 80s - very comfortable. I should be leaving about the time it gets to the boiling stage which is a good thing!

Jeff - Great pics!!! First Annika's check and now Paula's? How on earth are you even able to get your hands on it?? Looks like you had a blast there...thanks for sharing!

Good morning everyone.

I'm still sort of new here and it can be a little overwhelming to try to read all of the long threads, but I'm trying!

I'm very new to running (just started in Jan) and I'm planning to run the Marathon with DH. Things started off well. I worked my way up to 3 miles, 3 times per week and my time, although slow, was improving as well. Last week, my ankle started to hurt while I was running. I cut the run short and walked the rest of the way home. Unfortunately, it hasn't gotten any better, so I haven't run in over a week. :sad2: I know I should probably be icing it and keeping it elevated, but with three kids ranging from 8 yrs to 15 mos, that can be tricky.

I think my shoes may have been part of the problem. I think they're more of a running/walking shoe than a true running shoe, so I went to a store the specializes in helping you find the right shoes. They watch you walk and run and then help you to find the right shoe. The shoes I got feel a lot lighter and bouncier than my old shoes, so I'm hoping that will help. Plus, the shoes are a gray-ish/white color with lime green trim, so that has to be a good sign, right? :rotfl:

I'm really hoping to get to know all of you WISHers better as time goes on.

Good morning Wishers...

Lynne...I pm'd you. Sorry about being a slacker on the hat order!

OK OK OK...will somebody PLEASE come to my house and boot me out the door to run. :p It's frigid cold...and my roads are still covered with snow...so I *KNOW* it's going to be a long, slow, trudging 6 miles. I'm motivated to run...just not in these conditions. And I don't have access to a treadmill this morning...even if I actually did want to use one ;).

Ok...I'm going....honestly....

Happy training everyone.

Oh...and Carol...congrats on the 10K!!! :goodvibes When do you find out about a seeded placement for the P'Tree? What are the cut-offs etc. I know a little about the race from Scott...it sounds awesome! And wtg to Randy...47 is a smokin' fast time! :thumbsup2

Aloha Jeff...AWESOME PICS!!!! Wow...that's so cool :). And your DDs are ADORABLE!

Ok...I'm going now...for real this time ;)

Today I just finished 30 minutes. I did house-walking then stood for some calf raises and other low-stress leg sets and triceps work, sat for some leg extensions, sat for some arm curls, and arm raises. Whew! I'm feeling good with this.

Julie, good for you to listen to your body. Try not to do too much too fast. Build it slow. Yay for those new shoes.

Jeff, great pics and Oh yeah for that check.

Z, the movie was offered to runners via Active.com emails. That first showing was successful enough that they offered a second showing. I too look forward to the DVD version. I enjoyed this movie.

Happy training to all. Hope to "see" everyone more on this week's thread.

Good morning WISHers!

Hoping everyone is have a great Sunday.

Got out for 7 miles this morning, R4/W2. Not a bad pace of 12:47. Even the feet faired well.

AlohaJeff – Great Pics! :thumbsup2

Lynne – Payment sent.

Z – Keep your head down and your powder dry.

Amy – Get out there and run! ::cop:

Julie - :welcome: Hope the new shoes work out for you.

Lily – Glad to see you’re able to get a workout in. Keep it up! :thumbsup2

:)

:welcome: Julie! Let us know how the ankle is doing. Find a good running store and work with them on shoes. Don't go to a sports outlet--they don't typically have the staff to know how to fit people for shoes.

Amy: did you get your butt out there yet?

Vic: 7 miles is great! I did 7 miles today but it was only one of running, one on the eliptical and 5 on the bike. I know, I know, I'm a slacker! If I remember correctly, you are the head honcho this week, is that right? We'll come complain to you when Panda, er, I mean, anyone gets out of hand, right?

Lily: so very happy to hear you are feeling good today! Great job on all the exercises!!! You will so be ready for Minnie.

WWDave: what do you have in store for Vic this week? Got keep him on his toes!!! :rotfl2:

Z: :thumbsup2 on the 24 miles! Can you send some of that warmth to New England? We sure could use it.

Aloha Jeff: so love the pictures.

Yesterday I ran 3 miles of speed work which felt so good. Then today was 7 miles of various cardio and weights for an hour's workout. Also felt good. I will hopefully get some more running in tomorrow before the meat of the week hits. Never can tell.

Happy training everyone!

Thanks! Hey, 7 miles is 7 miles, no matter how you get'r done. :)

I'm instituting "Topless Tuesdays" and "Thong Thursdays" during my reign, and you're clear to deal with Panda, er, I mean anyone getting out of hand. :thumbsup2 :lmao:

LOL you sound like me today! I'm going to put it off a little longer . . .

Jeff - great pictures of your daughters! You make me want to move to Hawaii.

Everyone have a great day!

You'd never believe what I saw on my run today- SURFERS!!!

Why is that so amazing? Because I'm currently in Maine, it was in the low 30s with wind chill in the upper 20s and the water temp in the Atlantic is currently 37 degrees. Maybe it's a new anti-shark tactic:confused3

Did 10.11 miles around Biddeford Pool and along Fortune's Rock and the beach. Beautiful sunny crystal blue skies and the winds were relatively light for the coast. Must have been some decent offshore wind though as it was one of the better sets of waves that I've seen for that beach.

Thanks for the rapid responses. I want to get the order for the hats/visors in by March 3rd so that we'll have them by April. Happy training everyone!

I KNOW I am not going to be seeded, but if you submit ANY "offiical" time you get in at least group 3. Since there are NINE groups that's a great improvment over the potentially random assigment to 8 or 9 LOL!

The first group is "elite" invited runners and folks like that who get paid to run.
Then group 1, I think Randy told me it was under 42?
Then group 1A and 1B. Randy is in 1A.

I think everyone in the 1 groups and "elite" gets chips. The rest of us are on our own. Actually the Minnie will be the first race I have ever done with a chip!

And Julie Welcome to the Party! The Half in January will be my first!

Carol...:thumbsup2 ahhh gotcha. I wouldn't get seeded either LOL. Those are some speedy quick times needed. And at least if you get in group 3 you'll have an advantage of a better start time.

Vic and Martha: Ummm...still haven't ran....:guilty: BUT I swear I'm heading out there RIGHT NOW.

Vic: NICE run there chief!:goodvibes

Martha...GREAT job on the workouts!!! Glad you had a successful speed workout!!! :thumbsup2

Lynne....SURFERS???!!!! :faint: I can't imagine a wet suit that would keep me warm in those chilly Maine waters in February!!!! WOW!

Lynne

Yes, I knew surfers in thick wet suits hit the breaks in Maine and Ireland of all places. If you watch Riding Giants there is a part about Mavericks in Northern California. An hour long paddle, in ice cold water, sharks in the cold water, surrounded by razor sharp rocks, plus 30 foot tall waves.

Those guys are totally insane dude. My idea of surfing is 4-6 foot waves in Hawaii. Warm water, beautiful mountains and plants above the sand beach, and you only need to wear a rash guard.

If someone can give me posting pictures for dummies, I'll post a pic of me on a board on a break below Diamond Head.

I'm plugging along, did 4.36 miles Friday at 9:10 mpm, including 4 half mile intervals around 8:30 per mile. I had hoped to do that outside, but 1 foot of fresh snow took care of that.

The Minnie 15K is 10 weeks away, and I'm be more than ready for it. I think I'll actually buy some racing flats or super light trainers specifically for that day. My strategy will be to run as fast as I can for as long as I can. Hopefully that will be 9.32 miles.

Best
Craig

I got in a 6 miler today, with DD #1 riding her bike along side. She said she earned her breakfast today. LOL.

What's so funny about seeing surfers in February? I see surfers practically everyday I run. Oh yeah, location, location, location.

Have a great day, and glad everyone enjoyed the photos.
