Wk of Feb 17th-- WISH Walking/Running Club

Panda - yes, the only difference is the water parks. We had a premium one years ago but just get the regular one since we don't go to the water parks more than once a year if that. You do get a discount on tickets for water parks if you do decide to go and still get the 1/2 off mini golf.

Hope everyone nursing an injury or cold gets better soon.
Way to Go for everyone's efforts and accomplishments!

Is DH's bday today so won't be working out tonight. Have dinner ressies and tickets to opera (Baber of Seville - the one that has the music they used in Bugs Bunny cartoon). However Sunday is supposed to be 38 and sunny - heat wave! Will actually be able to do an outside long walk! :woohoo:

Thanks for the Sunshine Jeff! We need it around here!

Amy: Great job on your hill workout! yay!

Martha: I'm w/ you on the TM. I can't stand it!

Not too much new for me. Matt did get a phone call from the Neurologist yesterday. His EEG and Bloodwork came back looking good. They have now released him to drive short distances (within State) and hopefully when we go back for a follow up next month they will lift all driving restrictions! yay!!! :dance3:

Hope all you guys have a good weekend!
Stacie

Hi everyone, I'm posting here because I want to be on the WISH Racing Team Roster!

I am not good at keeping track of all the posts on this board - I only have a little time every week to enjoy these boards, and so I don't post very much. But I love that everyone is so supportive of everyone else.

So please add me to the list! I'm doing the 1/2 marathon in 2009 and maybe a few other Disney races this year if it all works out. I've been running a few miles almost daily, but no official "training" plan yet. Just running for fun & stress relief right now!

:sunny:

AP Panda...I'm not sure if the water park admission is the only difference, but you certainly can park hop with a regular AP. That's what I have. I figure, if I ever decide to visit a water park (which would be on rare occasion--haven't been in the 3 years I've had an AP), I'll just buy the ticket for it.

and....I have to tell you a funny....I play a Mah-Jonng solitaire type game on the computer when I am just killing time. One of the tile sets has a panda in it, so I always think of you when I see it! ha!:goodvibes

Thank you princess, that was a very nice thing to say. It's rare for someone to say something nice to me since I was razzing the teams, trying to get them wanting to beat me real bad. Now most of them just want to beat me up. So kinder gentler Panda is only playing nice. The thing about Vic and Mike on the tripple Ds thread was nice.

Amy and Liz thanks for the AP information.

Krista

I'm glad that I'll share the half course with you on January 10. I assume that means Steve will be doing the full. If he would push the baby in a jogger, then I might, just might be able to keep up with him for 26.22. Do you suppose the race director would allow this variance?

Kristi

Good luck on your job search. I wish you a smooth process and successful result.

Today is my speed and strength workout. My plan is half mile intervals, easy, fast, repeat, 5-6 miles, with the fast intervals right a 9 mpm, my target Minnie 15K pace. My only issue is I've felt pretty fatigued the last week from my training, and I wonder with 72 days to the race am I pushing too much too soon? I'd hate to peak about April 15 and have nothing in my legs on race day.

Debra

I'm a dude too, or at least I am when I'm on a surf board. In the words of Jimmy, I'm an "old fart middle aged surfer," and a beginner at that, but man is it fun and the hardest work imaginable.

Best to all

Craig

Welcoem Sunshine girl!!! DOn't feel teh need to keep up at all, but please pop n and let us know alittle about you adn youor training when you can!

Jen and Kristi - By no means would I be any better when mixed with a WISHer. IBesides posting my info, I'd feel the need to discuss it all in person.

DKP - The MAckinaw Bridge run is the Saturday of Memrial day Weekend. It's an awesome race. very small. Hot catered breakfast afterward. It's so different from Disney, but very cool. They give you a tiem for a bs=us and you just start after the bus drops you off (or after you make the last potty stop, as there are no potty stops on teh bridge. lol) You are on it fro sunrise adn it seems liek you have the bridge to yourself.

Stacie -  fro dh's results! That shoudl take a load off you, right?

Amy - I do believe the aliens have taken over 100% now. ;) OCngrats on havign fun runs!

Martha - I am so with you on hatign the TM. Except, I am bored before I am on their 5 minutes. :sad2:

I have a question about annual passes. We bought the best one last time but this time we are thinking just getting a regular AP. Is the difference just that you don't get free water parks with the regular pass? Can you still do the park hopper thing at the Epcot, Magic, MGM and AK?

AP Panda--I have purchased the regular AP when buying. Although the family tries to get to a water park when we go, we are usually not successful (they have fun just playing in the BWV Evil Clown Pool). As to the couple of times we have made it to a water park, there is a DVC discount on water park tickets and I believe there is also a AP discount (but would have to verify). As others have said, you can park hop all you want with the AP (I did 4 parks in one day ToT weekend).

and....I have to tell you a funny....I play a Mah-Jonng solitaire type game on the computer when I am just killing time. One of the tile sets has a panda in it, so I always think of you when I see it! ha!:goodvibes

Panda Dave--Although I have never played Mah-Jonng solitaire, my guess it does fit you as you are quite "puzzling."

Bill, dear, life is way to short to be normal. Besides who would keep you in line if I didn't.

So, I haven't finished catching up on this thread.... Just here to celebrate some non-training related outdoor sports--snow dogs!

We have a snow day today (our first snowfall of the season), so I took my friend, Robin, who is our rescue springer spaniel, outside this morning to make a "snow replica" of us....

Robin ate the noses off both her snow buddies....

Catching up here.... Apologies in advance if I miss someone...

Helen, I hope you see kangaroos, too! And I'm afraid of horses--they have big teeth! And big feet!

Bill, I hope Timmy's ear(s) are feeling better. I hate ear infections.

Allyson, sorry the weather has been keeping you in. Work that gazelle! :)

Krista, I love the bedding! And, like you, I am hating treadmill workouts. I hope spring finds us soon!

Minnie Marathoners, I wish I was joining you! Right now, it doesn't look like we're going to get the flight we need at the price we want to pay...

Craig, I teach high school and every now and then a student will ask me if I have a job. I try to tell myself it's because I make it look easy....:rotfl:

Carrie, I have had many embarrassing moments at yoga classes.... Including falling on my face and knocking other people over. Coordinated I am not.

Judy, I have so much admiration for you. I don't know if I could do it alone. I am bringing dh along because that long walk alone would probably be too overwhelming. You are so strong!

Jen, congrats on the camping spot! Some of my best memories growing up were of the camping trips we took (especially the first year when we didn't know enough which spots NOT to take, and our site was under 2' of water for the weekend! :rotfl:

Z, you'll be in our thoughts--come home safely! (And it's true--after nearly 5 five years, we still have sand in some stuff that dh brought to the gulf!)

Kristi, congrats on the new job! I hate job hunting, and I switched jobs this past year myself. I hope you are happy with your new employment!

Kira, did you get snow today? We have some here at the shore.... It's raining and slushy now, but will turn into snow again later.

Debra, woohoo! A birthday surprise! How exciting! I do all the planning on this end, too, so I can imagine how much fun it would be to be surprised to everyone else!

Matt, you are amazing! :cool1: I also am thankful you are on our team! You keep me moving, Matt. Hard to feel like I've done a workout when I look at your training!

Stephanie, I only have the Donald on my calendar right now, too. I definitely need to add some as well. Glad you are feeling better and back to your workouts!

TXAng, congrats on the sleeping through the night! :cool1: Woohoo!

Martha, how are you holding up? We have the snow, sleet, and rain... no sign of frogs yet.

Panda, we have regular AP passes. DH LOVES Typhoon Lagoon (so much so that we never have made it to Blizzard Beach, but we somehow always have rain on our scheduled water park days, so it wasn't worth it for us. I think that we get $4 off of water park admissions with the AP.... We also have Disney Dining Experience, and I think we get the half-price PI admission for that.

Amy, does the part where the workouts are actually "fun" come eventually for everyone, or just a few? I never have fun. I am sometimes glad I did it, but I haven't felt like anything was "fun" yet. I'm hoping that "fun" shows up at the Donald....

Sunshine Girl, welcome!

Duckie

Ran my first 9 miler yesterday! :woohoo:
Pace was slower than my 8 miler I did a couple weeks ago, though - 11:11 compared to 10:54. Still, I'm within my goal pace for my half. Fingers crossed...

I was originally gonna run it today, but DH was on call yesterday for some event and home so I decided to run with him instead and change around my schedule.

I felt OK and I did my first ice bath! :scared1: I took all the suggestions and ran the water while I was in it to get accumulated. DH then poured the ice slowly in and was laughing... I think he took some kind of pleasure in it all. :sad2:

I was in pain after my 8 miler before so I thought I'd give it a try. I think it might have helped a tad, knees still both a tad sore along with my right foot, but otherwise I feel pretty good. :thumbsup2 I was WIDE AWAKE last night for some reason, though...

Next week I have to run a 10 miler and my schedule is so crazy I seriously don't know how I'm gonna do it. I can't imagine training for a full.

Last night we went and saw Spirit of the Marathon. Did I enjoy it? Yes. Do I now feel inspired to run a full? No. :lmao: Matter of fact, in the middle of the movie I felt my stomach turn and questioned myself for even running a half. popcorn::

And can someone tell me why after that long run yesterday I get on the scale this morning and I'm a pound heavier? Running is not helping me with my weight.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

So cute!

We got our first snowfall today also, and I got to take the kids sledding. It was really fun and may be our last chance for the year.

I'm off to the gym now!

Oh no!!! Dh was right. he said if he had not alrady run a full, it would have scared him off. I was hoping he was wrong. Do not let it scare you!!!! After you finish your half, you will understand more. That I can do anythign feeling will be closer. (I still don'' feel like I can do anything, but I feel like I can take a challenge and break it down and make it work). COngrats on teh 9-miler adn surviving your first ice bath. :thumbsup2

Martha: Hopefully the boils, pestilence, and frogs will be a quickly passing storm so that you can get off the TM and onto the road! I was trying to think of the appropriate conversion for TM boredom --> road boredom. I'm not coming up with any numbers, though, that accurately convey the difference. Anyone?

Amy: Speed workouts = fun? Hmmm, I'll have to add that to my "must try before I die" list. :lmao: Good news about the hill repeats. Once spring really hits here, instead of this intermittent rain followed by sleet covered by snow, I'll have my choice of the Pgh. hills (and trail running, which I've never done! :woohoo:). Your training sounds great--it's helping you meet your goals & you're having a great time doing it!

Aloha Jeff: That's it. I'm moving to Hawaii. :goodvibes I'm so glad you're enjoying your runs, hot and humid as they may be. And thanks for sending what is apparently virtual sunshine our way!!

Liz: Happy birthday to your DH. I love opera & cartoons, so I can't think of a better combo! Here's hoping for a sunny Sunday for the Windy City!

Stacie: :woohoo: :cheer2: for the doctor's news about DH!

Sunshine Girl: Welcome to the boards. I'll be able to scream team for you at the Disney 1/2! :cheer2: I hope you get a chance to post every once in a while, as we'd love to get to know you before POP!

Craig: Duuuude! I'd love to be a surfer Dude. I have a friend who absolutely love it, says there's nothing like it even if you're a beginner (she is, too).

Carrie: The Mackinaw Bridge Run. Ah, I'd forgotten about that! It sounds like it'll be a great experience. I can't do it this Memorial Weekend, but I'll talk to my brother (a long-time runner) and maybe we can do a family get-together next year. Thanks for the reminder!

Ms. Duckie: Those pics of Robin are so cute. You have good taste in friends, and the fact Robin is a rescue dog is doubly good!

WWDave & Everyone who answered: Thanks for the question and responses on the APs. I haven't had a WDW AP in several years (had a DL one, though!) and we'll need to invest in two during the b-day trip. You're giving me lots of good info! :thumbsup2

Shan: Good job with the 9-miler and your pace. Even better, bolder job with the ice bath. Brrr....I have sympathy goosebumps just thinking about it. Can't answer your question about the scale, but I can say it happens to me, too. I tend to weigh less after rest days, oddly enough. I try to ignore the evil scale.

Kira: Have fun at the gym, not that it can top sledding!

As for me: Strength-training & XT for me today. Tomorrow I get up extra early (for me, on a Saturday) to go the gym to run and XT. Then off to catch the AMC theater's full day of the five films nominated for best picture. I predict I'll be sorer from sitting all day than from a LR. (Not that I've been doing a lot of those recently.)

Debra-

The rescue group we adopted Robin through has a fund-raiser calendar every year. I took those photos for that calendar--I hope it helps someone else find a best dog friend, too! She is a sweet girl--so well-behaved. She is always complemented on her lovely manners when she walks with me.

I hate to say it, but she's much more reliable at walking with me than dh is. She never stops for yogurt or a banana or to shop.... Maybe it's because there's a leash around her neck. I'm sure there's a lesson for me in this somewhere.... ;) :rotfl:

I agree! I saw it last night too and left ready to go run the full 26.2. DD made fun of me cause I had tears in my eyes through the whole thing, but she stopped laughing when they crossed the finish line at the end and she had to wipe the tears from her eyes.

Judy, I have so much admiration for you. I don't know if I could do it alone. I am bringing dh along because that long walk alone would probably be too overwhelming. You are so strong!

My DH got up and walked me to the bus (which was a wonderful surprise), but that was the longest ride and walk to the staging area until I found other WISHers. I admire Judy and everyone who made that long trek alone - it's enough to make someone turn and run back for the safety of the room!

Sunshine Girl - :welcome:

Shan - Congratulations on 9 miles! :cool1:

Amy - Way to go on the workouts!

Stacie - Great news on DH!

DH surprised me at work this week by delivering a shadow box from the Half with the medal inside that he'd ordered marathon weekend without telling me! I was absolutely floored - laughed and cried at the same time - was having a really bad day at work anyway, so it was perfect timing.

Trying to decide now whether to run tomorrow or take a few more days off. The ankle feels pretty good, but every now and then I move wrong and it's really tender. The half that we're scheduled for is 2 weeks from tomorrow - do I take a really long taper or try to continue training?

Jackie

:) good evening team

I hope you guys will continue to bear with me as I have not found ANY time to catch up individually (computer problems are not helping) Anyway I did rest Thursday after that awesome run Wednesday and then this morning i did the early morning thing again :scared1: but today I just went to Bodypump ( 6 am again -- :scared1:) didn't run.

So tonight I have 9 --- 11 to 13 years olds for DS bday sleepover. Yes I AM CRAZY!!! especially since DH is on duty at fire station. SERIOUSLY WHAT THE HECK!!!!!!!! WAS I THINKING????? There is a light at the end of the tunnel-- DH comes home at 8:30 am to take them paintballing and I go to the gym and then for a pedicure. Belated bday present for myself -- this was our week: Monday - our 13 year Wedding Anniversary. Tuesday -- I turned 34  Wednesday -- DS turned 12  So I guess we have been a little busy :confused3

OK so thank you guys so much for being here, all I have to do is show up.

BTW I don't know what's wrong with me but we saw Spirit of Marathon first time around and it made me sooooooo excited to train for my first full this year :dance3: I have always been a little off :lmao:

Going to Body Attack (aerobics ) in morning!!
