Wk of Feb 17th-- WISH Walking/Running Club

Carrie: honest! I really love you. You and Scott are my guardian angels!

Debra, ms. mightyduck, Jackie: I did it! I slept until 8:15 today! DH put the cats in another bedroom and closed all the doors and I put a pillow over my head. Next thing I knew it was 8:15 and they were wailing but by golly I got some sleep! Yippeeeee! I fed them and I went back to bed. Yes, it can be done!!!

Jeff: how was the new MP3 player?

Now, Mike: be kind! Carrie is a wonderful person!! So her typing isn't her strong suit but hey! she's really great at other things. Ahem, so what's the count so far this week?

Bill: great job on Billy's time! I can't remember which person it was who's daughters last year wanted to do a short race. I so enjoyed reading his posts about their training and eventual race. I look forward to hearing about Billy's training!

Krista, Steve: how are things going? What have you bought for the baby so far? When DD was born (2 months premature) all we had was a crib and no mattress and a stroller. We had to buy stuff fast!

Cruella de Mom: ANY shopping with children I consider cross-training! Add the stress of trying on bathing suits and you should get combat pay!!!

Off to run some errands. Have a great day everyone!!

:goodvibes Ice Bath for Wimps :goodvibes I think I could handle this. I am such a wimp when it comes to being cold. The ice bath was out of the question, but I think this is doable.

Stacie- sorry about your shoes.

I plan a nice easy 2 mile walk today followed by an hour of cross training.
Have a great week everyone.

Hi all!

I have been mia on this thread lately. Lots of LTO issues with my dad's health (AGAIN!) which has interfered not only with computer time but also training time (apologies to Herc's Heroes!)

My two friends I got started walk/running are still with me and coming along. They're having a tough time visualizing it ever getting easier. I remember all that and also remember the thrills of all the firsts! I really hope I can keep them going and get them to a 5K in June.

Mike - I really wish I could do the Cleveland Marathon, but it is (of course) a soccer tournament weekend. Of course, the tournament's at the beach so I'm not complaining too much!

Stacie - Congrats on your PR! You will be all set for the Minnie!

Jackie - Take it easy on that ankle! Are you planning on doing the Raleigh half in April?

Duckie - Think of the massage as physical therapy - not a luxury!

Stacie - Gross! I would also be mortified. Wish I had a solution for you. Good luck!

Carrie - Yes it is all you. You need to lower your expectations for the airlines.

Sorry I don't have time to respond to everyone; pd for any injuries/illnesses. Happy training!
Renee

Renee - So sorry about your dad. That is so hard. :wizard: Great for you for getting your friends moving!

Martha - lol. I didn't see your comment to Mike at first and could not figure out why you needed to tell me you really loved me, but you were kidding. :upsidedow

Cecelia - lol. Perhaps I can dictate my posts to you? :rotfl:

PS - This message has been spell checked. What will you do for fun now?;)

Heck, haven't thought about it.

I don't see why we couldn't do it at LTT again this year.

Cool would you do it for us again? It went great.

Who is doing the MNSSHP again this year the friday night before the ToT?

Robert are we having Mini Golf again, I promise to stay out of the darn pond this year if you do. That really wasn't me it was PatsFan Bill ion a Panda suit. I would never act that dumb in public.

Debra and Duckie you guys are fun, I'm going to have to enlist you two in the "YARC", (You Ain't Right Club). Judy is our Queen and ruler. Hence forth, you will be official pretty princesses of the court of "YARC", bow to the Queen and tell your hubbies that you require presents on a regular basis.

Mike, I'm sure we could set up a nude polar bare plunge at the Epcot Lake. Remember it's easier to get forgiveness than permission. Wanna set that up for us. We will of course require Cam and Bill's services for a bit.

Happy Panda:hippie:

Good morning WISHers!

Hoping everyone is having a wonderful Monday.

Martha – WTG with the 3 miler!

Shan – WTG with the 3 miler!

Debra – WTG with the yoga class. Yes, the NASCAR Sprint Cup season officially started yesterday. My DW is not happy.

Vicki – Be careful out there on the SEF course.

ms.mightyduck – WTG with the 6.5 miler! I can’t believe it’s taking so long for my feet to heal up also. I never had blisters until I ran the marathon. They seem to get better every day, but it’s too long for me. Take care of that neck.

Jackie – WTG with the 10 miler! Glad Jr. was able to finish in the top 10. It was a heck of a race.

Jeff – WTG with the 8 miler!

Betsy – WTG with the 10 miler!

Terri – Take care of that back.

SamSam – WTG with the training!

FLBill – Don’t let Billy show you guys up out there. The not pit deal was strategy. Yeah, that’s it, strategy.

For any other asthmatics:
I found a carrier thing-a-ma-bob for my inhaler at CVS. It just has straps that wrap around it and it has a clip. I am excited since I always have a problem making sure a waist pack has enough room for the bulky inhaler. Now I can just clip it to the belt strap. Much easier!

I need one of those. So do I ask for an inhaler thing-a-ma-bob carrier thing, or what? ;)

Krista – WTG with the 4 miler! Poor ol Hines.

Stacey – WTG with the 3 miler! Sorry about the shoes.

Allyson – I don’t run in the rain either.

Renee – Sorry about your dad. WTG with getting your friends moving.

So...I was so excited DH and I were going to go to the gym together tonight, but guess what... At lunch, he told me he wanted to go home and clean the house! It's just too messy for him so he wants me to drop him off at home so he can clean the house while I go the gym... I should be happy about this right?!?!? :confused3 Don't get me wrong...I am very happy he helps out cleaning the house... :lovestruc I just want him to be into running and training as much as me, and that's not going to happen. He likes to play sports like basketball, attempting golf, but he's just not into running. He's very supportive of me (enough to do the Minnie 15K), he's just not too into it himself.

So, I will go it at the gym alone while DH is cleaning away and doing laundry at home... In one way, I guess you can't get much more supportive than that! :rotfl:

WWDave: we'll be at ToT this year and our DD is saying she is going to run it too. I'm qualifying that b/c I have yet to see any training. But she really wants to go to MNSSHP. So we'll be there. I LOVE Fantasia golf but wasn't able to play with you guys in October. I do hope we're there long enough this time so I can tag along. However, if I have to guarantee that I do not hit the ball into the pond, then I cannot play. I seem to do that every time!!

Carrie: it's not fun when you spell-check your posts! You just ignore that mean ol' Mike. Pay him no mind. Just keep doing what your doing.

postesf: I don't mean to be critical but, are you nuts? LOL! DH wants to clean the house and you're complaining!?!! Let him clean! You'll get in a nice quiet workout with no one continually asking if you're done yet. Enjoy the workout!

Ran 3 miles on the TM--boy was that tough--and biked 4 miles. Not bad. I'm really trying to increase miles for Minnie training. My body really doesn't want to do this yet. Got to do it though.

See you all later!

True, true...

I do have one of the best Hubbies!!!

Great workout Martha!!! You can do it!!!

Now, now! I know Carrie is as golden as they come. I love her to death. She is so supportive to everyone, always has great advice, and is absolutely fabulous for doing those crazy shirt orders. Nothing but warm and fuzzies from me.

As for the count for the week, I was only hoping for one (don't want to set unrealistic expectations). She made it easy by stumbling on a correct THE right away.

Hey guys... kinda crazy today - kids are home. popcorn::

I forgot to mention DH and I are going to see the second showing of Spirit of the Marathon on Thursday night! :woohoo:

I'm hoping it will motivate me to run my 9 miler on Friday morning... :rolleyes1

NAME JEFF CITY HONOLULU, HI TIME 1:17:43 PACE 9:33 OVERALL PLACE 2163 DIVISION M40-44 DIVISION PLACE 200 / 706 GENDER PLACE 1591 / 6680

It was a bit humid today, but still a nice day to run. Approximately 20,000 walkers, strollers, joggers, and runners.

Men's winner was 42 minutes and change, and the women's winner was 48 minutes and change.

I had fun, and added yet another race t-shirt to the collection.

Happy President's Day everyone, hope you all got out and stretched the legs.

Wanna switch husbands? Please, even if it's just for a day? :woohoo:

Good Afternoon!
In the office here too but with the markets being closed it's way quiet. Figured was good time to stop in here.

Get better soon to everyone healing and/or fighting off various flu bugs.

WTG to everyone on times/miles and just for getting out there!

Stacie - oh ugh...might be able to use same solution they use for removing skunk odor.

Ice bath for wimps - sounds like exactly the way I'll need to do that when I start increasing miles.

Was glad to hear that skipping walking in the rain does not remove me from official "walker/runner" status. Temps here yesterday made it to 47 :woohoo: accompanied by heavy rain, t-storms and high winds. :sad1: Did get out Saturday - temp was only 30 but sun was out for about an hour so had to at least do a short walk. Got in a mile - not great but got out!

We're planning on doing ToT and MNSSHP. Did that party last year in costume and had a great time! Let me know if I can help out with planning for anything. Mini golf -- oh yeah....complete with hole-in-one-dance. :cool1:

Well, guess I should check back in around here....

OptiMike - I have no idea who you're talking about but that sounds nothing like the me of today! :rotfl:

HIJeff - Congrats! Great pic!!

:cool1: Did 2 fun things today. Got my ressie for Marathon 09 and got my Spirit of the Marathon tickets! Way past my bed time, but I was so bummed I didn't see it last time, that when the "local" theater announced they'd have the encore, I was in.

Martha, every one of the princesses on my team hit their ball in the pond. I was the golden retriever that rescued the balls. Any extra balls mysteriously found their way onto Jeanne and Nancy's putting area. I have no knowledge how that happened.

Golf Pro Panda:rolleyes1

GOLF PRO PANDA?:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Not only does he cheat, but he lies also.:sad2: Luckily for us, he thought the winner was the one with the highest score so it came back to bite him on the butt. :dance3:

HI Jeff: great job and great picture! Congrats on the race. Wish I was there than here today!

Carrie: WTG on getting those ressies AND the movie tickets! Have a great time at the movies.

Mike: I know you know Carrie is such a great person. I think your mistake was announcing that you were counting. See, don't announce it and just see what happens!! Then you'll get a real count.

Too bad the holiday is over and work looms for tomorrow. Sigh. I'd sure like a few more days off just to rest up. But then, the more time off the less I want to go back to work.

Have a great evening everyone!

Hey teammates--been MIA for a few days due to an IL visit. Was a good visit, but all my spare time was taken up. Did get to the gym today for a run--3.2 miles. Cold is finally gone, now just gotta get my fitness level back to where I want it.
