Wk of Feb 11--WISH Walking/Running Club

Jen – You lucky duck on that audit! I’m stuck with a newbie (transfer from tax to audit) and she’s driving me batso. On the plus side I’m outta here at the end of it so I’ve decided not to take too much crap!

TXAng – I’ve got to make a decision shortly about whether to take the CPA or the CMA. Right not I’m leaning towards the CMA as that is the direction my career is taking. Thanks to Craig for his earlier input on the exam! It won’t be for a while though as I’m not doing anything until after I finish my MBA thesis.

AbrCat –
Good luck!!!!!!!!!!

Carrie – Do you like the skirts? I have to admit I’m tempted after taking a peak at that website (I love anything pink). I don’t have anywhere to try them on first though so I’m kind of hesitant. Which version did you buy? The one with the built in shorts or the other?

Anyone else ever give those skirts a try?????

Thanks!

I've never actually worn one, but I have heard several people that I know say wonderful things about htem. I got teh Gym Girl style as tehy are cut a little higher in the stomach and lower to the hem. They also have the built in compression shorts. If I did not have those, I'd just wear my own underneath. It's a it of a splurge still, as I usually don't like to go higher than $15 or $20 for shorts, but it's about the best price I've found, so I figured it was now or never.

Minnie - I know Cam & Rhonda wear the skirts. Hopefully they will chime in soon.

Today is supposed to be 2 miles or xt for me. Since I had the commute from you-know-where home today, I am calling it xt! It took me over 2 hours to do my 40 min. commute. I had to stop several times to clean off the windows since they were icing up with the defroster going full blast the whole time and the wipers going as well. I get within 5 or so exits from mine, and when I snapped my wiper to get the ice off, it broke right off and flew into the highway. :sad2: I got the wiper, but it was busted. And, of course, it was the driver's side wiper. So, I called Chad in a panic and told him to come get me. Meanwhile, I drive to the next exit while leaning all the way right to be able to see out the passenger side of the windshield. This with my side windows rolled down and sleet blowing in the car all over me. I get off the next exit and it of course is the only one in the area with no gas stations or any businesses off of it! I pull over, clean off the windshield again and decide to go for the next exit - I know there is a Mobil there. And I have to pee really bad! :scared: I get going and I can see pretty clear. I then decide to ride the whole way home, being very cautious. My prayers were answered because until I was at the bottom of my exit, I could see fine! Even out the drivers side with no wiper - very weird. At this point I am one mile from home. I had to stop 2 more times to clean the windshield. I finally got home, bolted out of the car & into the house. I am so NOT going back out there! So, I think all that counts as XT and I am going to veg on the couch like you are supposed to during a snow/sleet storm. :teeth:

Sorry that was so long. I feel better now.
And again, why oh why do I not live in Florida yet???

Kristi, where in NH do you live? I use to live in Lincoln, NH and work at Loon Mountain. My friends say that they are in desperate need of snow...glad you got home ok.

I am practically in MA - Nashua, NH.

They are getting alot of snow up north today - thank goodness!
I know in thr Sunapee region they are getting hit really hard. My family is happy - now they can break out the snowmobiles when they go up to the lake this weekend. Shoot, maybe we should go up too!

I just ordered the gymgirl style. We'll see...

Cam and Rhonda told me I should try the running skirt. I like the "sausage shorts" already and these are the style I would wear with a skirt over. A match made for me? I hope.

Hi all!

Just checking in from snow/ice-bound Philly. Nothing like upstate NY, but I took the day off from work anyway :woohoo:

Kevin - hard to believe I've been out of high chool for almost 27 years!:scared1:

Stephanie - I'm trying to do the same thing with resort ressies. My home is SSR, but would like to stay at BWV for marathon weekend. We stayed at OKW this past year and that was fine, too. Being at BWV would allow my friends to walk to Epcot instad of trying to get around on the buses.

Carrie - hope you're feeling better!:wizard:

Whew - I missed a day and got so behind on posts i'm worn out just from skimming!!!!

I did actually laugh out loud that carrie was surprised that the zebra print was on sale!!

No training this week as the 50k is this weekend. the weather is now supposed to be 20-40deg and we have 2 water crossings (one at the very beg and one at the end)

I've spent the last few days using my workout time to try to figure out how to make maps for our next orienteering meet. I have finished a rough draft map of the area where we are planning the event, but it is still really rough!!! I'm hoping to get it looking useable over the next few weeks.!

Hope everyone is having a great valentine's day!!

This is going to be a drive-by as I have only had time to skim this week's post. Things have been so crazy around here. Cincinnati got hit with that snow storm, although we didn't get at much snow as the Northerners. On Monday night we got like 3 inches of snow (no big deal), yesterday we got about an inch of ice on top of the snow (kind of a big deal) and then last night another inch or two of snow. I'm one of those people who will drive to work in any condition (I will NOT waste a vacation day sitting at home--my days are for Disney :) ), so since the weather has been so bad, a lot of people are staying home, guess who is super busy all day long doing other people's work. At least it makes the day go by faster. I'll try to catch up later when I have time. I do have to say that I officially started training for the Flying Pig half on Monday. :woohoo: :woohoo: With all of this bad weather and freezing temps (our temps are supposed to be in the teens for the next week), my treadmill will be getting quite the workout!!

ETA: I forgot to say, HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!!!! I have a vase of a dozen beautiful red roses sitting on my desk. Awwww ;)

Hi team!!!!

I have got to catch up with everyone I feel so out of the loop:grouphug:

Mel....50K wow.....that is amazing. Good Luck:wizard:

With all this talk of running skirts I want one also but I will have to find a really funky one that will go with my lime green shirt....:woohoo: The hunt is on.

Minnie - I've only tried the gym girl, but I like the idea of the shorts underneath since I have chaffing issues with my thighs.:sad2:

Just to give you some info on sizing, if in doubt, go up one size, but they are pretty forgiving.

Kristi sounds like a horrible ride home, glad to hear you made it home safe and sound.

No high school reunion comments here either.....mine would be coming up 25th.....OMG:scared1:

I hate mushmellows but love smorres....does that make sense???

I will try and keep up with the posts,

Hope you are all safe and warm.

Dave - The Grand Californian looked amazing when we were there last summer, but I didn't go inside. Being able to walk out the door and be in the park was really cool, though!

Tiff - I looked at the lime green Shuffle, but DD16 wouldn't let me order one. I have a Zen Micro, and she told me I didn't need another MP3 player! I kept saying "but it's lime green!"

Carrie - Glad I'm not the only one who has traumatic blood donation experiences. But I keep going back... scheduled for next week, actually. It's been a few months since the last trauma - hope you have better luck next time!

AbraCat
- Isn't it great when you can see a difference in your endurance?

Kristi - Stay home! I would have been in tears - don't think I would have moved after the wiper broke on the first stop. If you can't make it all the way to FL, at least move halfway - at least in NC we don't have snow THAT often!

Krista - Wondered how much snow you had. Our corporate office is in Mt Hope (tiny little town outside of Wooster), and they closed yesterday and opened late today because of all the snow, so I figured you were getting hammered too.

I conquered the demons this morning. Woke up 15 minutes before the alarm, wiggled my head to see if it was still hurting, thought it might be a little sore, decided I'd get up and walk on the TM if I had to, but once I got started I felt great. Did 45:00 (4R/1W), except at the end when I decided to see how long I could run (Cam - I'm coming after you on that mile run!) I did a full 8:00 before I decided I probably should start the cooldown - I had a meeting at 7:30 so I absolutely had to be on time - no extra time in the schedule getting ready!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Jackie

Zebra stripes with pink accents are not funky enough for you? :rotfl:

Krista - Glad you are safe and sound. I'm with you. We do not have snow days and my vacations days are for vacation!

Melissa - Yikes! Those sound like some cold crossings! :cold:

Abra CAt - Full size or mini marshmallows? And, you're already effecting my weight loss goals. ;)

Thanks to all who have given me pity lately. :guilty: My arm is pretty good today. I do wish something could go right for me soon, but I know there are many of you out there who would trade with my minor problems in an instant! :wizard: :wizard: to those of your with real injuries!!!

Ya that one is cute, but I want to find one in one of our local stores, I am always nervous ordering sizes off the internet.

Plus I am hoping that closer to run time I will be able to fit into a smaller size.

What happened to your arm....sorry I missed so many posts yesterday and today. Hope you are feeling better:hug:

Jackie: Awesome workout.

Kristi--I'm amazed that you kept going through all of that. My parents have a similar story from when they used to live in Oxford, OH and tried to go to Wisconsin for xmas one year. The wiper broke--so they had to break out a hanger to scrape the sleet off the windshield so they could get home. After that my dad vowed never to travel north in the winter--and he never has (even for the birth of grandchildren--we had to come south!)

abracat-- you would not be derailing my training as this is Taper time!!

melR--good luck this weekend! 50K-you go girl!!! Where exactly is it????

Well, ds is waking from his nap! Chat later!

I went to Curves for Xt this a.m. I am lovin it! I am all about a "social workout"!!! Talked the whole time & didnt realize I was done.

Kristi-OMG! I'm glad you got home ok I would have sat there & waited for Rick to come get me.

Jackie-Awesome job!!!! I'm glad you are feeling better.

Krista-be careful out there!

abracat-YUMMY!!!! Good luck with your new venture!

:lmao: Yes, I love that too. The biggest complaint I've heard about Curves is not gettign a good enough work out. This is a big part of the problem. ;) If you get to where you don't feel you're getting a good enough work out, try closing your eyes and not talking (at least on teh machines). It is a great place. Boy do Ineed to get back there. :upsidedow

Thanks to Leana (for telling us all about the 50% off) and Carrie for saying what a great deal they were.... I ordered the gymgirl (black/smooch) and the TRIKSmesh fitness tee (in smooch of course) can't wait to give them a try. New running clothes should get this slug back on the dreadmill ;)
