Wk of Feb 11--WISH Walking/Running Club

Minnie - Woo hoo!!! :cool1:  :cool1:

Jen117 - That was mistake #1. Paying too much attention to my mp3 and none to where my feet were. I was wayyy to far back when I realized where I was. I would have been ok had I not tried to get back on to save face, though.

Kim - lol. We got a lot of "why"'s too. The classic was my MIL freaking out because my face was all read when we came back from a run. Funny, people sitll ask why. At least we have an answer now. "It gets us off the couch."

Just got back in from my S-L-O-W walk. :tiptoe: It was time to up it 0.2 to 1.8 miles and I did it!!! :yay:

I pushed dd in her stroller. And the little stinker looks back and says to me, "Mommy, why we going so slow?" :crazy2:

P.S. Today is my pregnancy halfway point!!! Just 20 more weeks!

Minnie - YAY!!!

Jen & Judy - The Funky Js - I love it! :rotfl:

All this talk about working for Disney has me very jealous. I would love to work for them. (for the perks, not the rest that goes with it) But they had to get rid of all their video production years ago and outsource everything. Nevermind, I could not live that far away from family since we now have Zack. But once Zack hits college, all bets are off! I'll hand out strollers if I have to! My job kinda stinks. I am WAY underpaid for my position. But I am FT with a Monday thru Friday schedule. Kind of unheard of in TV. If I go anywhere else, I'd make more money an hour, but be PT forever and working nights, weekends, holidays, etc. It's not very nice to know you are "stuck."

Enough complaining! I am heading to the Y for 4 miles (28 laps) around that track. And it should be busy by the time I get there, so I will let you all know how the roller derby goes! :rotfl2:

Wow, we are dealing with one heck of a storm here today. I am a little bummed because I was supposed to hit the TM tonight. But, I can't even see the road from my house, so I don't think it would be a good idea to try to make it to the gym.

Thanks for all of the supportive comments re: my disbelieving family. I know that I will have the last laugh when I cross that finish line!

For all of you dealing with this latest storm, or still digging out from the massive amounts of snow in the NE, stay safe!

Yes, Jen, I believe that makes up the Funky J's! Now, not everyone can join us, you see. They have to be exclusive. Cranky and their first name has to begin with a J.

:rotfl2:

I have a question....

Should I start another "If You're Doing the 2008 WDW Full or Half Marathon, sign in here" post? Did anyone ever look at the list? :confused3 I did all the time, because, well, because I was typing it - :rotfl: - but also because I am nosey and want to know what everyone is doing.

I liked it Judy. I haev a hard time remebering who's fdoign the half or full and there tend to be people working f orthe bnext year. It helps keep me from saying something stupid like, "See you there!" when they are onot going. :headache:

If it takes too much time, though, I completely understand.

No, no, actually, it was fun! I think I will start it. :goodvibes

Minnie-- CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!:woohoo:

J*2 -- So sorry your in a funk.

Meghan-- try to keep that storm to yourself;) It's heading our way... JK, hope you make it to the TM soon.

Kristi-- I'm stuck, too. Not that I'm complaining, I could make a lot more money elsewhere but no where near the perks/flexibility I have where I am. I just don't like the idea of being stuck either!

I totally ditched the TM today. Hal's just going to have to deal with it:rotfl2:

We're supposed to have sleet along with our snow in the prime "sledding" hours of the day tomorrow, not to mention wind chill in the teens. After being slighted this winter, there's no way DS will let me stay in the house:cold: It's going to be really hard for me not to shovel. That was one of my primary "bring it on" tough-girl activities:sad1: With a shovel in my hand I'll play "chicken" with a one-ton plow:lmao:

Lisa – It may be a smaller “world” than I thought – Is your cousin’s DH named “Brian”?

No it is Jason...they say is is THE lead--maybe he is one of the leads. I dont' know the infrastructure.:confused3

Hope all the Blizzard Wish Babes are hangin' tough!!!!!

Sunny - you can always come up here if you run out of snow to shovel! ;)

I never can shovel since the cold air does really bad things to my asthmatic lungs! And my uncle bought us this crazy, heavy duty snow blower some years ago and it's way too powerful for me to handle. It's actually way too much for our little driveway. But heck, it has heated handles!

I was kind of hoping the snow was coming sooner. In bad storms, they put us up in fancy Boston hotels to make sure we are there for work at 2am. But I like the fancy hotels part! :cloud9:

Kevin – WTG on the run! Best of luck to you for finding a new and WAY better job, too. What are you getting your degree in?

Abra Cat – Good luck with the business start-up!

Sunny – Great saying! I’m going to print that out and post it at my desk here at work.

Jen – WTG! I wish I had enough motivation to get to the gym on my lunch break, but I always end up eating instead.

Vic – I’m very jealous of you that you’re at the World.

Meghan – Hope your knees feel better! Don’t overdo it!

Angie – What’s your degree in? CONGRATULATIONS on completing it this May!! Only a little while left to go!

Think of how much extra scrappy time you’ll have once you’re done with school! :)
The “Dreams Come True” album sounds like a great idea. I’m planning on doing an album about our half-marathon training journey this year.

Dave – We’ve only taken one overnight DL trip, and we stayed at the HoJo. Nice and clean, and definitely within walking distance to the front gates.

Minnie – Congrats!

Dena – I am so impressed that you’re still getting out there and walking while pregnant. I know I’d be using that as the ultimate excuse to sit on my rear end for nine months straight.

Ok, y'all, here's my BIG news: DH and I are officially signed up for our first ever 5K! We're doing the Bun Run here in Austin on April 15. We get a fun long-sleeved t-shirt out of it, too, with a little running sandwich bun on the front. :thumbsup2

I'm excited about it. We've had a hard time sticking to the training this past couple weeks, and I'm hoping that now we'll be more motivated, since we've got a date to work towards. I'd like to run/walk it, but even if I end up walking the entire thing, I'll just be happy that we got out there and did it.

Dena – I am so impressed that you’re still getting out there and walking while pregnant.

Ditto! Plus congrats on the 50% mark. My first pregnancy I was 25 and in a fit phase and determined "not to be one of those women that let themselves go...":rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I gained 70 lbs. You are doing great!

Kristi-- I'm bummed, too. I was expecting to watch a pretty snow fall this evening. No fancy hotels around here, and no lab closures. I'll be using vacation time:mad: Then of course next week is school vacation. You can send your oversized snow blower with heated handles down this way anytime.:thumbsup2

Abra Cat-- what sort of business are you doing? I did a home business when DD was little. It's a lot of work and you'll be the worst boss you've ever had, but it's also sooooooo nice to work in your jammies:cloud9: Good luck!

Sunny

Missing Persons Alert!

Where's MelR?????????

Melissa, if your lurking, please say "hi!" so we won't be worried about you:grouphug:

Kevin - Whew. WTH?? Old Man??? Watch yourself!! IIRC, you'll be 28? Keep that up and us old folk will hit you with our canes! ;)

I'll officially be closer the 30 than to 25.... and when you have a bunch of college kids working for you.... that's darn old!! I recently got my 10 year HS reunion packet in the mail and I was depressed for the entire day.... :guilty:

Maybe you do need to leave the university. ;)

Melissa? WHere are you?

MY AUDIT WENT GREAT! It was a random audit and the auditor was non-traditional. He had the "whatever" attitude. He figured if the numbers were close, that is good enough. AWESOME... one less stress in my life now!!!

Now I have to go deal with my vomitting kid. I hope she is feeling better!

Sorry Kevin, but you won't get much sympathy here. My 20th HS reunion was last year (although I don't think our class did anything about it), and I'm closer to 40. Next year will be the big 4-0 for me. Another reason I started running again.

Well I went to a small HS and my class never organized a 5, 10 or 15 year reunion. I doubt they will do a 20 either. Doesn't bother me a bit, tho I would like to brag about my running!!! :goodvibes

I didn't realize that you can book hotels already for next year's marathon. Does anyone offer special rates, like Anthony Travel does for the Minnie Marathon? Or do you just pay the posted Value rate for that time of the season?

I did 60 min of cardio/weights last night for XT. Still a little chilly out for running for my taste, so we'll see if I get another XT session in tonight...

Vic – I am so jealous that you got to do more than a 5K at CBR!! But it couldn’t happen to a nicer guy! What a beautiful place to get out and around. Great pace, too!

Why thank you, Cam. :)

Haven't got to do anything but work. Only scheduled for a half day tomorrow, so maybe I'll take a ride over to the MK.
