Hey there WISH team members!! Today is a rest day for me, but I wanted to stop by and catch up on all the posts I missed the last few days!

Kathy--WTG to get out there and get a workout in despite all the snow you have there. Sorry to hear about the fall! Sending some pixiedust: your way that you are feeling better! I am hoping this storm that is coming misses NJ, because I don't want any snow!! I can't wait for spring!!
TiffJ--WTG for getting back into your training and signing up for Curves!! Good luck in your 5K race next week!
Cam--What an uplifting way to start off your day yesterday!! Wouldn't it be great if we could start everyday like that!
TXAng--you can call cleaning your scrapping room/office XT..if you scrapping area is anything like mine, it would definetely be XT!! :rotfl2:
Bill--Great job on your run this weekend!! I would be glad to send some snow your way, as long as that means we don't get any!! I am dreading the storm we may get this week!
Angie---I was wondering what SDV is? I love scrapping!! I can't wait to run some races so i have some pics to scrap!
Matt--Sorry to hear that you had a rough run this weekend, but it sounds like you have a busy racing schedule coming up! Good luck with all those races!
Monte--Sounds like you had fun snowshoeing!! I can't wait till I get to go next week!
Sunny-Great job on your training! Hang in there with the new drug, hopefully it will all be worth it in the long run!
Kim--I know the feeling about keeping up, I decided to sit down tonight and finally get caught up!! Hope you are having a great day!
hoosmi--Sending pixiedust: to you! i hope you are feeling better real soon.
Mike-I hope your 6 mile run went well today!
Kevin--Good luck with the job search!!
Scott--WTG on the TM workout! I know the feeling, the first part of my workout on the TM is always so hard, but after I get going I think about other things and I am fine. I still prefer running outdoors, but I am slowly getting used to the TM
Stephanie--WTG on the workout! Isn't it the best feeling when you feel GREAT after a workout!!!
Leana-sounds like you have a great plan for your upcoming races! Good Luck with those!

Ok, I know I missed a few people, but my brain is getting mixed up as I am still trying to learn everyone's names! Sorry if I missed anyone!!

I hope everyone has an awesome night!

Hello from the World.

Three laps around the lake at the CBR this afternoon. 3.54 miles per the Garmin at a 11:29 pace. Felt pretty good.

Mike - Haven't had time to find the mouse. Maybe Wednesday.

Bill - If we do any renovations involving heavy machinery I'll give you a call. :rotfl:

Y'all take care.

Just a quick check-in to let all of you know that I am still around and training. I am in the middle of week 3 of the couch to 5K plan and doing pretty well. My knees are starting to get pretty sore, so I am trying to baby them during my rest days. I really want to be able to do this and I don't want these old joints to keep me from my goal!

By the way, I can't remember who posted that they do this, but I spent 10 minutes walking backwards on the TM in order to strengthen my quads and boy did I get some strange looks! It made me feel better to know that somewhere out there, at least one other person is doing the same. Maybe we can start a new trend!

Oh, I finally "came out" and told my family that I am planning to run a 1/2 marathon. After they stopped laughing (thanks a lot for the support) my Mom told me that she would like to train to walk it. She isn't up to running, but thinks she can walk fast enough to avoid being swept. It would be fun and I would really like to have someone to start with.

:scared: :scared: You're kidding right????? Yeah, let me get over my forward phobia first.

SOrry about the laughter at tyour coming out with the 1/2 announcement. Hope you can convice your mom to join you! BTW, you are icing those knees, right? Please don't push too hard!

FYI - Scott just said that a TM video got a grammy last night. I can't imagine there being too many out there. It's got to be the one I posted.

Did 40 on teh TM tonight. Besides teh anxiety attacks, I did pretty well. However, the peole who drop weights should be shot. twice I almost had a heart-a-stroke and flew off when that happened. Weights adn timid treadmillers do not go well together. And no, I have never been timid in my life. This TM fear has GOT to go!

Laurie - Happy rest day!

Jen117 - Way to go!

Anne - Sorry I confused you for a bit. Yes, I've been actively searching since "it" hit the fan about 3 weeks ago. I finally realized that the goals and values of my comapny seem to be gtting further and further from my goals and values adn it's tiem to get out before I tell my boss and all the other pricipals where to go or what they can kiss.

Vic - WHy was I not invited? ;)

monica - That osunds awesome, except for the uphills.

goofyguy - Hope your wif eis recovering quickly!

Andrew - Congrats on teh 3 miles. BPlease be very careful on teh ice! We don't need anymore broken faces!

Helen - Hope thigns are btter for you soon! No mor egrumpy Helens!

Kim - I don't know that htey ever really post for sure. Seems like it's btwn 15 adn 20,000

Abra Cat - Way to listen to your body!

cdn_gal - I do believe I should stop complaining about snow in MI. I'm sure you've got us hands down! Hope it gets alittle more tolerable soon!

A quick update post. I went out tonight after it quit raining and wound up with 3 miles. My calf was still tight and never really loosened up so I stopped a little early. Since this has been happening for about a week, I figure that I will take a few days off to see if it will get better. I may just do some slow walks instead of running/walking for it.

We went to another ultrasound today and everything is looking good. I will forgo the details to the DW (the expert about them by now) but I can almost make out what everything is when looking at the black and white pictures. :rolleyes1

Mogulskr - Endurolytes is a new thing for me. I have never taken any supps. I've check them out. Interesting.

Do you still Gu when taking these?

I'm thinking you still need the energy from the Gu.

Wow, since y'all are already on page 6, I don't know how I'll catch up. Hopefully tomorrow I'll have time to read the thread and give everyone an uplifting, positive comment. Just in case I don't...Go Team!

I did my TM half hour today, so I've officially started week four of training to train. I still can't face a scale (yes, I need to get myself to that losing weight while training thread, it's on my list!), but I did measure and I've lost an inch in my hips, so I must at least be toning even if I'm not losing. I can definitely attribute that to the running and exercise bike!

Thanks to everyone for all the encouragement. All I can remember from last week's thread are:

Sunny-- I hope you are feeling good about the new doctor, and her desire to keep you running!

Kevin-- I hope you are feeling better, and your stress has diminished.

all the new Personal Record Holders-- Congratulations! You Rock! Reading about your accomplishments, whatever they are, is inspiring. I have a long way to go, and you are proof that hard work pays off!

Have a great night!
Maria

Wow, I finally finished catching up on this week's thread. :surfweb: I have been swamped at work and my DDs have been sick (everything from double ear infections to stomach flu). DH and I are still recovering from a nasty cold and cough that just won't go away. I ran 2 miles tonight with brief periods of walking. I am sending lots of :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: to all my WISH team friends who are experiencing cold and snow. I hope it warms up soon. Be careful on the ice!

Ok - just finished hw so try to catch up on this thread that exploded while I was at school and my head was exploding. :headache:

Sunny - Thanks for the encouragement. This is my last semester and I beam with pride almost every day but it is taking such a toll on my family. I am gone a lot and my kids are not dealing with it very well. Thank God for my mom and dad who are here to help out

TXAng - I WILL BE AT SDV!!!! I will have only scrapped once since last SDV (which was at the Yacht Club and wonderful)

Speaking of the Yacht Club - -- When we were there for SDV last August I was just really beginning my training for the RFTT (no marathon even remotely on my mind at the time) I tried to run the Boardwalk one morning that we were there and could barely make it 3 times around (less than 3 miles) without puking. How far we have come!! 5 months later finished a 1/2 marathon !!

Anyway TXAng - I miss scrapping so much it kills me, but I gaduate in May and I will be able to do it more again. In fact, my first album, other than my kids is one for myself titled "Dreams Come True" - graduating college and finishing my first 1/2 marathon in the same year inspired that.

Kevin - Good luck in the job search. :thumbsup2

Anne - We never made it to Epcot that trip, but we will be running through it next year when we do the full!!!! (that's me - scared!!)

Leana - I am taking Civil Engineering - focusing on Structural - thanks for asking. And I saw your dinner reservations for Minnie - we have done many of the character meals at the World and Chef Mickey is by far one of the BEST!! I am getting so excited about MInnie:banana:
It might also be because it's the day after I graduate.!!!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Jen - I'm so glad you made it to the gym it's amazing how much better you feel!!!!:yay:

Laurie - SDV is Scrapper's Dream Vacation and the Florida version has been held the last couple of years at the Disney resort (the first year I went - 5 years a go it was at a nasty Holiday Inn on I-Drive) they have them all over the country. This year's Disney version is at the Contemporary in September. Scrappers set up in a ballroom there where they can crop 24 hours a day for the weekend if they so chose( in a nutshell) check out this web site:
http://www.dreameventsinc.com/

My girlfriends and I use it as a weekend away indulging in our favorite past time ( besides running) - SCRAPPING!!

Happy Training everyone!! I have 2 tests in the next 2 days so I might have to disappear for a couple of days (but I am so addicted - I can't seem to stay away)

angie:cloud9:

Hi Teamies!

Just skimmed through this week's posts. I'm so glad to see all the excitement is still there! :goodvibes I expected it to drop off post marathon weekend, but you guys are kicking it! :cool1:

I haven't been walking for the past couple of days because I've been having some ligament pains- which means baby is growing!!! :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9: I'm going to try to get out tomorrow for a S-L-O-W walk. Just to keep my legs and back used to moving for an extended time.

:offtopic: I spent this weekend making an online journal to record all the silly things that go on in our family. It's at http://chasinggiraffes.multiply.com if anyone wants to check it out.

:grouphug: :cheer2: Keep on movin' guys! :cheer2: :grouphug:

Angie - Good luck on your tests. Your posts just scream with enthusiasm that bubbles right out of the screen.

Andrew - Maybe you should give some ice skates a try :) . Try to be careful.

Abra Cat - Good luck with the new business. At least you'll be able to ask the boss for time off to keep up with the thread, I mean training!

Leana - It looks like you've got a heck of a race schedule. Always good for motivation.

Jen - Great job. You can't get to Day 2 without Day 1.

Hoosmi - I hope you are feeling better. Good luck on the bridge.

Vicki - If you can figure why some runs are good and some are bad be sure to let us all know. We could skip the bad ones and maybe some of the doubting atheletes would stop doubting themselves.

Wait, was that a whole day without Krista, Dave, Mel or Melissa posting?? What's up with that? That's worth a good couple of pages right there.

I got my 6 miler in yesterday. It was 40 degrees and sunny. BEEUUTIFUL!! Only a long sleeve shirt (Well, more than that. I don't want to cause a stir in the hood). I ran a little faster than I probably should have (another reason to wear more than just a long sleeve shirt, if you get my TMI drift) but finished with a 8.13 mpm pace. Felt good. No major aches or pains, just that good fatigued feeling that tells you "I got off my duff today and did something".

Let's see... Training - 48 minutes. Keeping up with posts - 90+ minutes. I guess that ratio seems about right.

Have a good day everyone.

Guess what I did last night....booked my hotel...:woohoo: We are staying at POP....Jan 11 - 18th...wahooo.

Now just have to register for the race, I have decided to do the Donald however, DH is thinking he might do the full, his training has been going really really good and he thinks he can do it, but wants me to wait a little longer to book. I hope someone will post when the races are getting closer to being full.

Just did 2 miles on TM last night, 29:40 seconds, shaved a few seconds off my last 2 miles.

I believe it is 11 months today all you full marathon people will be making your way through the course.

Will be back to chat later.

Kim

I'm thinking you still need the energy from the Gu.

Yes, I still use gel. I use Hammer Gel, but that's a personal preference. I only use the Endurolytes when I am in 12 hour or 24 hours races. I usually start with 2 tablets and repeat every hour. I also take gel every hour.

The more heat the tablets you need to take. Last July during a race I was taking 3 tablets every hour and still cramped after about 9 hours. Race temp druing the day was ~90 with 90% humidity though.

Drive-by :car:

For all of you jobhunters out there:

http://www.disneycareers.com

Carrie...you could be an Imagineer :thumbsup2 Oh...and there's a 5K the day before the Sarasota half that you could certainly be ready for in 3 weeks. Did I mention that it's going to be 70 here today? And your parents are about 10 minutes from my house?

Kevin...to aid in your job search, there's a little National Championship college here in Florida where you could work :rolleyes1

Helen...sorry, looks like I was trying to read more into the fibber comment than needed to be there  I've been running with plantar fasciitis for almost a year now. Like Craig said, it involves lots of icing after a run, but otherwise manageable. I have those same feet that Craig mentioned...my podiatrist said they are not biomechanically effecient for running  I have been improving (slowly) since I got custom orthotics.

Angie...we should have a Manatee County mini-WISH meet. Chester, Tracey...you guys still out there?

I took an extra rest day yesterday. I have arthritis in my L ankle that rarely bothers me, but seemed somewhat offended after my 12 miles on Sat. :confused3 I think I need to find something besides concrete sidewalks to run on...that's one reason I'm on the TM now for short runs. Maybe I'll do my 8 at the beach this weekend :beach:

No crosstraining for me today.....

Hubby crosstrained his fingers though--opening the Disney Visa Card statement. We had our January trip, baby purchases (not MY fault mind you!!!), a couple of other things.

Then he got a little heart workout when he saw my charge for the Goofy. :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

I did a little speedwalk back into the house after that little chat.:rotfl2:

Wow Mel--thanks for that link. Hubby interviewed (telephone) with Disney a bit ago. Things seemed promising and we haven't heard anything. My cousin works for them in Marketing (Evidently thoughs cool personalized maps that you can order was her project) and her hubby works as lead engineer or something at Animal Kingdom (he's the one whose team fixes the rides when it breaks and he considers Expedition Everest to be his baby since his team was the one that took over after its completion for operations). In any case..for both of them...the process was VERY VERY slow to get on board.

Just a heads up. They love the company--but speed in hiring evidently is not their forte.

Cam in da House:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Helen, you never fail to come through! I actually have a song on my playlist (other than Scooter) that I don't really even like but it reminded me so much of a post you made way back when that I couldn't resist. Someone had asked you a question and you replied with "oh yeah, a chance to talk about me me me..." The song says "me me me me that's all you ever want to talk about":rotfl: I'm sorry you are dealing with PF. I hope Craig's and Mel's advice will work for you.:wizard:

DBounce-- thank you for that compliment, but I must confess that running, elliptical, etc., is one of the few ways that I am totally pain free, so it's not too hard to stay motivated. It's the cooking, cleaning, shopping that kills me; and believe me those have fallen by the wayside!

Carrie-- I loved that TM video so much! That must have been the award winner. We will all WISH you to Imagineer-hood!

Angie-- I know what you mean about balancing being a Mom and a student. My daughter was 3 when I went back to school full-time. I also ran a home business and there were many times when I was frantically trying to finish a school or work project when I would hear my husband's alarm go off:eek: But it's so worth it, and you will be done very soon:cheer2: I have a cute story from my Mom/student days. I chaperoned a field trip and overheard my daughter tell her friend, "my mom's going to be a physicist when she grows up". That right there made it worth it!

I have nothing to report. I am scheduled for a 3 miler on the TM today. Weather forecast looks like I'll be doing all my running on the TM this week.:scared:

Sunny

Hi Everyone-

DS decided to give me an early valentines present - his stomach bug. Ugh.

I am going to get out there today and run at least 3 even if it hurts. I have to run outside in honor of all my friends who are snow bound. (take care up there)
Sunny - Thanks for the update on your experience with Levaquin. My DD10 is allergic to almost every catagory of antibiotics and its a real challenge when she gets sick to find something to treat her. She is still young, but in a few years I could see them trying this stuff on her. I put some notes in my medical file to ask loads of questions about this stuff before they prescribe it. I hope they find a way to help you.

Hoosmi- Its not the 10K, its the whole running with your DD7 and the bridge run. Running with your kids adds a whole new element to the event. Our kids are running the Niketown race in a few weeks. I am more tense about that race than either of the half marathons I have soming up.
Where in South Ga are you? We lived in Americus for 6 years.
KristiRed - All I can say is "Good Luck". There's going to be hell to pay when the rest of the team reads that "I'm not a runner or an athelete" comment.
Accurate prediction.
Me? I'm an endurance athlete.
What's that look for?
One more look of disbelief and I'll sit on you.
Then I'll take you out for a gentle 10 miler and see what you think.....
I see a new tshirt in my future - I love this quote!
Oh, I finally "came out" and told my family that I am planning to run a 1/2 marathon. After they stopped laughing (thanks a lot for the support)
My family also laughed when I told them I was going to run the Disney marathon. One sister had to run to the bathroom she laughed so hard. However, they all got up and followed the race on their phones and computers. After every update, they called each other to make sure the others had gotten the update. By the time I got to my cellphone after the race I had 6 messages but I couldn't listen to them because the phone wouldn't stop rining. If you heard how excited they were, you would think THEY ran the marathon. Next year, they are all planning to come and cheer. Laughter is good, & they won't be laughing for long.

Good morning WISH team!

Dena- I love your web site. What wonderful memories you and your children will have. I think SAHMs have the toughest and sometimes most thankless jobs in the whole world. I admire your dedication to your family even when $$$ gets tight.

Lisa- My DH has a similar reaction when our Disney Visa bill comes. I just remind him that we are earning money back that we can use at WDW. So really a large Visa bill is a good thing. ;)

Angie- Great job going back to school and showing your children that they can achieve anything they set their minds to. You are a wonderful role model. Finding time with the kids may be tough right now, but you only have a few more months to go. I can't wait to see you at the Minnie and say "Congratulations Graduate!" in person. You rock! :cheer2:

Time to work. :surfweb:
