Hello everyone!

For those new to us, we are a group of people who are planning to participate in walking/running events throughout the year. For most of us, the ultimate goal is to train and compete in the annual WDW Half/Full marathons. We'll also be posting news and training for various other events throughout the year. We range from beginners to triathletes. Come join us, whether you're training for an event or walking/running for fitness!

New WISH Team members. If you read one thing over and over, believe this. Being part of this team is fantastic. Part of the ever to come here and just post up anything. You don't have to know us right away, or all of us at all. You will get to know some of us. It makes the event you are enjoying have MORE meaning and we love to have you.

9 miles in the books for me today!

Everyone get their bib numbers?

Hey Everyone,

Getting in early this week.

No activity for me today. Did my 20 miler yesterday (20.5 is where I ended up) and 6 on Thursday. Yesterday was pretty tuff on me. The weather was not good at about 15 or so at the start and it felt like 8 or 9 I think the computer said. I should have stayed on the Treadmill, but I just had to get outside. One more 20 miler to go in two Fridays and then it's taper time.

Mel - I got my numbers and have read the Program and I'm so excited.

I did my final 8 before next week's Honolulu marathon. Rest and recover now.

I thought I'd share my 18 miler photos. It was NOT 82 degrees.

Those specks are snow.
This was early in my steps about 8 miles or so this stuff kept up for the remainder of the time I was outside.

My eyebrows are not white.

I was headed home and the coyote were out. I've got one in this pic. There was a second not too far away.

I got it done, but oh my I need to pick up the pace. I hope it was due to the mess I was trying to walk on out there. I managed to pick up a few blisters too. I wanted to take off my shoes and just make snow feet and snow angels as I iced down before I left, but I had to drive home and figured if I sat too long I would not get back up.

I need to do my 8 miles today and I am not that excited. I guess I'll do it this morning so I can just be done with it. It will be inside on the treadmill, cold out there and the roads are white with snow. I guess I'll just crank the tunes and go.

Best of luck to all with the long runs this week! We are really getting close! I got DH and I's waivers printed, our ME tags arrived this week, it is feeling more REAL!

Allyson

Oh, my Tiger Lily! You definitely deserve the medal for most dedicated!

Lily, you are hardcore! DH is out doing his 18 right now, but it's definitely not snowing.

I meant to post last night...the pace groups thread is up. If anyone would like someone to walk/run with during the races, check out the thread and see who's close to your pace.

I thought I was being bad with my training before - this week it just all fell apart. Mostly it was dealing with my girl's Nutcracker performance (which was yesterday - absolutely beautiful!), but a couple of other things also conspired to get me off the straight and narrow.

The plan calls for 8 miles today, but I've made a command decision to do last week's skipped 4-miler today, and do the 8 next week in place of the 6 that's on the schedule then. This will still have me on track for the 10-miler the weekend of the 20th. I am also bound and determined to get my short runs in as well for the next 3 weeks.

Thanks for listening - I'm so glad to have this team on my side. Training was so much easier in the summer when there wasn't so much else going on in my life!

Kira: Hang in there!! Try to get back on your schedule and things will work out.

Lily: OMG!!! You are dedicated!! You do get the award. I can't believe your eyebrows have icicles on them!! I thought walking in the rain was bad.:thumbsup2 You go girlfriend! I think the coyotes would've made me go faster, kinda like when I see the racoons at my park near the Everglades.

AFM: I did my 12 miles today. Not too bad, but did start getting tight around mile 10. I sat in the pool for my 15 min ice bath. Pool temp is at about 70 degrees and saves the filling up the tub. Enjoying my post race McArther Dairy Lowfat Chocholate Mile - yummmmmm and tasty!

The award for most dedicated goes to.....Tiger Lily

Good job!

I agree!

I thought I was dedicated by going out in the cold yesterday. If we get that much snow in Atlanta we just "shut down" :lmao:

Of course I just booked a weekend in Cleveland in Jan a few weeks after the Disney Half. Guess training will be on the Marriott treadmill!;)

Kira, sounds like you have a plan. Do we get photos of the Nutcracker?

I am Christmas shopping this afternoon! More Cross Training!:rotfl2:

Have a great week everyone!

I did my 8 miles today in 98 minutes. This is the furthest I've ever gone. I feel good!

I used Sport Beans today for the first time. I don't know if they really helped or if it was more a mental thing. I am a Run/Walker but today I ran a lot more than usual.

I walked the first 10th of a mile, ran 2 miles, walked a tenth, ran a mile, walked a tenth, ran a mile and so on. I was able to keep it up the whole time and it shocked me! I was pretty happy with the run today and for being able to push the running part longer than I usually do.

Allyson

Congrats to you Allyson!! It is a great feeling when things come together and you feel the results of some good training.

As a reminder, try to get those miles in, if you miss just keep going but don't try to make up for anything missed, don't skip ahead with miles. It is better to show up a bit undertrained than to show up overtrained and hurt, suffering or injured!!

I know this was posted one time before, but it is so funny I wanted to post it again....

Allyson Great job! Sounds like your training is going well.

Kira Hang in there and don;t worry about shifting things around or missing the occasional run. You will definitely make it. I'm chagning things up myself a little to try and keep my knee in some kind of shape to run. I'm not worried. I know that when I trained for Minnie, I had the same kind of thing happen and it all worked out fine.

Lily You definitely have me beat! I thought about doing my LR yesterday, instead of today, but it never did let up with light snow all day. I don't mind being out, but only if the footing and visibility is decent. Thought I'd go out today, but with roads still covered and wind chill at zero, I made an executive decision to run my 9 miles indoors.

Did 9 miles at the gym. Cranked the treadmill up a 1/2% and ran a little slower than I do my weekday runs. Decided to break it into 3 3-mile runs with short walk break in between to fuel. Worked well. I felt pretty good--no pain! Finished my 9 miles in 84 minutes, with a littl burst of speed at the end. I gotta tell you, it felt great! Not an outdoor run, which is always harder, but still I have begun to dread the long runs--never knowing how I would feel.

Anyway, I earned my chocolate milk, pepper steak and cheese and football!

Maura

Thanks everybody! I did my 4 miles today and felt good. I did it on the treadmill because I'm not as hardy as Lily - there isn't much snow on the ground, but the wind was really icy.

I'll upload some Nutcracker pictures today or tomorrow and post them here (or if you're on Facebook you can check out my new album). I forgot my camera at the dress rehearsal, so the only photos I have are backstage ones, but the girls look pretty darn cute!

I gotta say I don't feel as hard core as you all give me credit for being. I think more brain dead. Today I spent a good amount of time shoveling snow while my menfolk finished our indoor repair/painting project. I must say I am quite sore right now and looking to crawl into bed. It will be a long day tomorrow.

Our Honolulu Marathon Clinic had our last talk of the year. Doc Scaff covered tapering, nutrition, race day preparation, the finish line, and the recovery week after.

I estimate 250 people (not all shown in photo) showed up, many who were not regulars throughout the year.

Way to go on your miles everyone!

Wow - everyone is doing good getting in their miles. Lily - wow - that I some weather to be doing 18 miles in. I was a chicken today and decided to do my 16 inside on the TM. Its not like it was even cold here today - it was in the 60s when I started - had the windows open so it felt like outside.

The Marathon of the Palm Beaches was run today and I wanted to see the results (little did I know until after it was over - another station was playing the whole thing!!!) I also had a DVD that I needed to get finished - what other better way to finish watching it!! LOL Anyway I got my 16 done (furthest distance for me so far) I didn't do it in a time that I am happy with but for some reason I am WAY slower on the TM then outside yet wierdly I prefer to train on the TM. When I was done all I could think about was - man I am going to have to do that and 10 more in 5 weeks. YIKES
