Due to time conflicts over the weekend, John & I headed out on Friday to do our last long w/r of 20 miles. It didnt go well at all.

First is was 34 degrees, raining, & wind blowing across the lake (we do our L R/W on a 5 mile loop around a reservoir). Since it was so cold we decided to do a longer walking warm-up before starting our intervals, well that changed quickly to strictly walking the entire time (instead of our w3/r1 we have been doing for L R/W) when we saw how muddy the trail was. (didnt want to take any chances of slipping in the mud). I was so cold the entire time never warming up at all. The wind was blowing the cold rain right down to my bones.

Plus the tops of my feet were hurting from mile 2 on.

We ended up calling it quits at 10 miles (2 1/2 hours). We were soaked, cold, & hurting. Couldnt bear the thought of freezing for another 2 1/2 hours. It ended up taking me approx 5 hours to fully warm up. Logically I know it was the right thing to do, to stop before we made ourselves sick or hurt. But mentally I am struggling with not having finished a 20 miler. At least the 18 miler 2 weeks ago went well, so I am trying to hang on to that. The top of my one foot is still pretty sore so I have been trying to rest it as much as I can & I have had a scratchy throat since Friday night so have been taking lots of airborne. I am hoping to get out there for a short w/r sometime today.
