Oh, that's okay, I do not look like Meg Ryan either! :rotfl:

I could look more like Val Kilmer if I had a latex Batman suit though... not George Clooney's though, too much nipple.

Cam - You need to let those legs rest! I would do 20-8-22. I think you're looking for a major injury to go 20-22-24.

I signed up for teh gym tonight adn we start TMing it tomorrow. Scott would "rather run naked int eh snow" than run on a TM, but I really don't see how that would help. ;)

:rotfl2: So, if my leopard tights will get me stoned, what'll happen with the naked running?? :lmao:

Chimera-- Nah, zebra makes my butt look big. :teeth:

Steve-- I'm not an ice-bather, but that's some committment right there! :thumbsup2

Cam-- Honestly, I think less is more. Back off this week and then get another 20 in next week before taper. Definately don't shorten your taper up whatever you decide to do. I can understand wanting to respect the distance, but you don't want to go into it tired or even worse hurt.

So yesterday's run went very well-- 5 miles in 42:35, or 8:31/mile pace. I kind of don't know what I'm doing today--- last week of classes, crazy work schedule and it's STILL SNOWING. :guilty: I get something in, though.

Four weeks from right now, I'll be in Orlando. That's NUTS!! I can't believe it's coming up so quickly. I honestly believe I'm starting taper-madness early this year. I put in a huge order with RRS the other day, I'm starting to stress over my packing strategy and I got all excited last weekend when there was a college basketball tournament at the Milk House on TV... I had to tell my roomate all about the cool Expo stuff... to which he duly rolled his eyes. I'm so glad I'm busy this month.. I'd go bonkers if I had time on my hands...

Kevin :earsboy:

Good morning Team.

Thank you all so much - you too Andrew - for your kind thoughts and good wishes. We have asked for an extension of custody until the civil suits are finished. So now we wait to see what happens. :guilty:

To all of you who asked "How can this be" I can tell you that the trial was a complete joke. I could go on and on about it, there was so much just plain wrong. The defense attorney made the abuser out to be the victim. Never mind that the horses, Mist included, were out in below zero temps all winter, with no water, and no food, some with very serious medical problems, hoofs so long they looked like slippers, no dental care...it makes me sick. My horse alone was 400 pounds underweight. She went WEEKS with no food or water, with no shelter in the middle of the winter. Oh and did I mention she was nursing a foal thru all this??? It is unfathomable to me how they could come up with a verdict of not guilty. :furious:

I wouldn't be at all surprised if I end up on some sort of medication by the end of this month. (Not seriously, but you know what I mean.) My emotions just this morning ran from "I won't let anyone take Mist from me!" :furious: to "OMG! A month from tomorrow I am RUNNING A HALF MARATHON!" to "Holy Moly! I have SOOO much to do! Packing! Shopping! Christmas Day meal planning!"

Then of course this morning I pick up the October RW and read about "Taper Tantrums", which, until this morning, I didn't even know I was supposed to have.

On the other hand, maybe that's what I am already doing.

Thank goodness for training. I really NEED it right now.

I did 60 min on the TM yesterday. I don't remember if I reported that. I also did 30 @ 4.2 @ 1% this morning. Then took the stationary bike for a spin.

I'm so far behind I can't even catch up with everyone so please forgive me if I have missed something significant.

Cam - I always thought you were Hard Core. :thumbsup2 Thank you and Andrew for your kind thoughts. It's true, if it was a human child they would be appalled. They obviously don't care a bit about those who can't speak for themselves.

Andrew - Congratulations on your first 5K! You did great!! :woohoo:

Steve - Ha ha! :lmao: Great story! You're right. What could you say! Ha ha! :rotfl2:

Dave - I'm only gone for a few days and I come back to find you having everyone take their shirts off?!?!? What goes on around here when I'm gone??? Batman suits! Talk of "too much nipple"!! :rotfl:

OK, let me try to get some work done. Yeah, OK...like THAT'S gonna happen.

Yeah, I'm still wondering wher ethat comment came from. Guess I should start a bail jar, though. :confused3

Congrats on the 5 miles!

Judy - :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Krista & DAve - :sad2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

What's going to happen around here when taper madness hits????

Huh! :confused3 Yeah what's going on here??? Batman, Iceman and Janet Jackson is in the house??

Can we say TAPER MADNESS !!!

Wait we have one more LR to go!!

The marathon weekend is a month from tomorrow!! :faint:

You all are cracking me up. Too bad I am in Vegas and don't have time to play with you all!!

I got up early and hit the health club. I did 50 minutes on the treadmill. I was a stinky run, but I got the steps in. It's amazing the number of people that are working out at 6:30 am in Las Vegas!!!!

I have to go... I will try to check in on your sillyness later!

Krista

Thanks from me as well for the excellent article. It was filled with great stuff for all of us.

Craig

I'm following MfM's plan for walking the Half, even though I will be running some of it. OK, jogging. :teeth: And on the LRs I have been adding an extra mile as a safety net. My question is....

On December 16th I am scheduled to do 11 miles. I want to do 13. Is this an OK day to do it? :confused3

I thought this was pretty time relevant: The Monster Month--the last 4 weeks of marathon training.

Yes, I'm bored at work. :teeth:

Krista -- Just had a chance to skim the article. WOW! Lots of really good information. Thanks for sharing.

And thanks for the input on my miles, everyone. I think I will dial back this weekend to 8 or 10 (perfect since I have to decorate and cook for guests this weekend) and then do 20+ the next week. I HAVE to do something a tad longer than last Saturday, just to convince myself that I can push beyond what I have done before, but maybe to 20.5 or 21.

Judy this is just aweful...it does not surprise me though...I have seen children put back into situations like this and then I have to go in and try to clean up the mess AGAIN :furious: ...Yeah, thats my job as the therapist. Sorry for the OT downer, but this is part of the reason I have lost weight.

Off to run! And that is my therapy! Later

Cam- I just got back from a great run! I went down to the University track and did 4 miles outside. I wanted to run on the track for a nice cushy surface. The battery on my Garmin went out right before I started, so I have no idea about time or pace, but it felt really good.

Anyhow, I was thinking about your question while I was running, and remembered this piece of advice from John Bingham. Remember, the rest days and rest weeks are when your body gets stronger. It needs that recovery time to repair itself, and you may find that your 20+ the following week will go that much better.

Thanks, Dave, I really appreciate that you gave my question some thought. Right now, I have so much enthusiasm and I am in one of those periods of euphoria that comes from accomplishing something that seemed so unattainable (20), that I do need the reminder of what is sensible for my body. Thanks again.

BTW, have I mentioned here that my Garmin is MIA? I have not seen it since my LR in Hilton Head and I have been in an absolute panic the past few days tearing my house apart looking for it. I may have to ask Santa for a new one if I can't come up with it really soon. No WAY am I doing the FULL without my Garmin.

Man, you guys post a lot! :)

Cam - Sorry I missed this before, but congrats on your LR. Great job!

We're back from the Woild. Had a pretty good time. The weather was decent, the parade and fireworks were spectacular.

Now, it's back to business, and if I don't get some miles in, it's going to be a long 1/2.

DID YA MISS ME!?

Why Vic, of course we did!!! Glad you had a swell time. It's great of you to take those nose hairs on vacation once in a while.

:rotfl:

Oh Cam, no! Not a missing Garmin! Not now! :faint:

Dear Santa,
Cam has been such a good girl, please bring her a brand new sparkly Garmin...
