Wk of Dec 17--WISH Walking/Running Club

Sunny - I'm so happy to hear that you are feeling a little better! I've been logging on several times a day to check on you! We had a horrible year about 6 years ago and i just said that Phil and I were not y2k compliant!!! Here's to a great 2007! Even if it gets off to a goofy start!

OK - so the dreaming has started! Last night, I did a long run 15 w/ Christa. We weren't tired but we were running in a strange city and we just did a point to point not out and back or loop. We had to drive back, but i couldn't keep the car on the road so we had to walk part of the way back. We also had to carry the port-a-john back. It was designed for easy carrying so it wasn't too heavy. I woke up before we dropped or spilled anything (thankfully).

Christa - I generally can find real life elements to explain my dreams! I'll have to fill you in as to my dream theory when I see you in a few weeks!

Good morning everyone - :wave2:

I did 40 min @ 3.8 @ 1% on the TM this morning. I thought I better take it easy today, but I am happy to report my ankle didn't really hurt. It complained a couple of times, but not really much. I'll continue to ice it.

Cam - Oh how exciting that you are getting a new car! And such a cute one too!

Kristi - WOW! :thumbsup2 You go girl! You're going to be a bright lime green streak!

Craig - I'm so impressed! :woohoo: You were really booking there! But your advice is right on and I really have to listen. I too tend to go out too fast - although not nearly as fast as you. I find myself saying "Easy up, easy up!" which is what I used to say to my mare if she was cantering too fast on the trail. Is there really a Miss Disney Marathon?

Mel - Oh I'm sorry you're not feeling well either. :wizard:

Dave - Oh no, et tu? Well, I guess better now than next week... :wizard:

Cecilia - Oh I'm glad your feeling better. :goodvibes Thanks for sharing the advice! The leash idea is a good one! I'll keep that in mind so I don't run out of the gate too fast.

Jen - Oh Jen, why is it so busy everywhere? Isn't December supposed to be a quiet week? :confused3 More importantly, who's idea was it to have the WDW Marathon Weekend right after the holidays?

Christa - Some of those are very very funny! :rotfl: Thanks for sharing! I actually just told someone I didn't feel like going to the cafeteria to get coffee because it was too far to walk and she said "Didn't you just do 13 miles last weekend?" Ha ha ha! :lmao:

Sunny - YAY! :Pinkbounc Did you get the Z-Pak? I love that stuff. It wipes out my bronchitis in no time!

Oh look everyone! It's Kevin! YAY! Ha! That's a good point about the little kids. So true.

Ok, let me pretend I am working...Although I don't know why. Theres no one here! :surfweb:

Judy - GLad your run went well!!!

Mel - There's a CHimera who plays hocky for COlumbus. He just finished 2 games iwth them adn the announcers keep mispronouncing it! It's drivign me crazy! ;)

Jen - Appts with clients may not be great for you so close to the race. You may want to readt what the Penguinsays about your c-workers not wanting to be in the same room with you! lol.

Been reading the Game Face chapters last couple night. What to expect from Taper time cracked me up. So, I guess MelR's normal. :teeth:

Here is something funny Ron sent me. I thought we could get a kick out of it. Sorry so long, but I laughed my butt off...wouldn't that be great!
Christa- That list is great. I forwarded it on to my DW, and she said it was scary because it was true. I LOVE "Chariots of Fire" too! Such an awesome movie! Watched it again before my first 10K this year, and I considered bringing it to Disney with me. Maybe I'll watch it on the plane.

I KNOW!!! But thankfully most of these appointments will be online through web conferencing, so I can make nasty faces if I need to!!!! It's one of those things that once the day is over on Wednesday the 3rd... I AM OUTTA THERE!!!!

Wow! I don't know where to start!

First of all, Sunny -- I am so relieved to hear you are feeling better. I have been so worried about you. Glad to know the pixiedust: worked.

MelR -- That dream cracked me up. I am kind of worried that I haven't had a weird marathon dream yet. Maybe my brain is in denial. :confused3

Christa -- I LOVED that list. Sadly, many do not yet apply to me, but I really do plan become a "runner" in 2007, instead of a wogger/swogger. I am already making my next goal to run the 1/2 in 2008. I can't wait until I can relate to more of those characteristics.

Kevin -- the comment about Judy being the envy of many children this Christmas really touched my heart.

Judy -- Mist really is the lucky one here, but I know you know that you are so fortunate that Charlie understood how you felt about your girl and wanted Mist to remain in your family. I  him already and haven't even met him. I am so glad he has been so supportive for you in your quest for the Donald, too.

Craig -- I am so glad you had such a great run. Thank you so much for your words of wisdom and encouragement. Your words always have such an amazing calming and reassuring effect on me. :lovestruc I really, really appreciate that.

Carrie -- I am so impressed you did 40 minutes at Curves and am so glad you reined yourself in and didn't stress your legs or hips.

Sara -- How are you doing with your stretching? I have been thinking of you and hope all is going well.

Okay, training? Non-existent this week so far, but I am determined to get to the Y tonight and test out my foot on the TM. Hopefully, my migraine will be gone by then.

I have to tell you guys, I was such an emotional mess last night. We watched a special on the NY marathon that tracked 3 athletes -- a veteran in a race wheelchair, a former marathoner who overcame breast cancer, and Lance Armstrong. Can you just imagine me sitting there with Howard, Jenn and Andrew, watching this and just sobbing? Geez, I cannot even imagine how I will be on January 7 when Rhonda and I cross the FINISH line.

And then, I started to tell Andrew and Jenn about Mist and Judy and how happy I am for their family and started bawling so much that Howard had to tell them about it, since I just couldn't get it out.

I am such a basket case. :confused3 ;)

So, I thought some of the lyrics from "I'll Stay With You" by Kristi's beloved Goo's were very fitting when I thought about doing this race with Rhonda (our 3rd together):

These streets
Turn me inside out
Everything shines
But leaves me empty still
And I'll, burn this lonely house down
If you run with me
If you run with me

I'll stay with you
The walls will fall before we do
Take my hand now
We'll run forever
I can feel the storm inside you
I'll stay with you

. . . (blah, blah, blah -- some stuff that doesnt' quite fit)

Kind of fun and fitting, right?

Didn't Helen have you in a port-a-potty in the middle of a restaurant last year? :happytv: I haven't had any dreams, but I made the mistake of watching LotR with a 103 temp. I had a half conscious/half asleep nightmare of orcs and ring wraiths stampeding through my body while I slipped in and out of that netherland Frodo goes into when he puts on the ring. Those movies should have a warning label, "Do not watch if you have a fever or suspect you may have pnemonia" :p

Cam-- Great lyrics! You're allowed to cry :grouphug:

I bawled liek a baby. I would thinkthey'd be used to it by now, but they did seem a bit concernd. :confused3 Great song!

Sunny - I am so relieved teh the pixie dust is working!! Sending more! :wizard: :wizard: lol about the warnign label.

Kevin - If you run out of adopted family, or people who will pput up with you due to taper madness :) , give us a call! :teeth:

Wow!
Cam, I really liked all you have just said so will "draft" offa you. Thanks.

OK, so I'm thinking there is going to be so much water at the finish. Happy Tears we will have.

I didn't see that special with Lance Armstrong and hope they show it again.

Hello Everyone'

I've been MIA now I'm back :)

I'm so happy to read that everyone is doing well and anticipating our run in two weeks. I take it that everyone has been running because I have not :( Why, lets see work (the Air Force) is making me sustain my pay grade :) I've been traveling. On top of work, the divorce finally went final, plus I've went back to school. so its not like I've been sitting on my butt doing nothing. However I have two weeks, starting tomorrow to loosen up my muscles just in the nick of time for the run. I gotta do it; not running is not an option for me and neither is failure :)

I want to pass on words of encouragement to everyone who's getting ready to go out there in the next two weeks and "do their thing"!!!!! You can do it!!! Its yours, mentally you are already finished and have your medal, now its the physical. As long as the mental is in tack, the physical will follow!!! I can't wait to see all of you out there, sweating, hurting, digging deep and feeling the good pain of success!!! I'm proud of each and everyone of you! My motto for this year is DREAM!!!! "A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes, Always Follow Your Heart And Live Out Your Dreams" Right now my dream is to run this race and finish!!! Continue with the great work and LETS DO THIS!!!!!!!!

For those who have asked, my packing list is located at the thread Lily set up for all of those who want to post theirs:
Packing List Thread

Something that should be added for those to whom it applies:
PROOF OF TIME.
Howard will need to show proof of time for both the 1/2 and the full and fortunately, was able to print out from the official websites for the Delaware Marathon and each of the three 1/2s he did this year. He just searched for his runner results on each website and did a print screen, so we will add those to the packing pile -- in the important paper section of course (those are the things I carry in my carry-on! ;) )

Too funny.....
I think it means we are full of it for taking on this again! :teeth:
Melissa you and several others like Sunny, Mel, Cam, Howard, Kevin, Dave (even though I am not sure what you look like) and some others were in my dream Monday night....
We got to the start of the marathon and found out it was a TRI! :confused3 I could not find my number, but you guys helped me look for it. I remember telling Matt that I was further back in the corrals b/c I was a slow swimmer.
This is totally a stress dream. I dream that I cannot find something or cannot remember my lines for a show when I am stressed about something.

Carrie -- STOP THAT! You are NOT helping matters!

Judy, you know I love you, sweetie. Here, let me take those off your hands for you. That's what friends are for, right? And, dark chocolate is my absolute favorite! :teeth:
