Wk Of Dec 15 - WISH Walking/Running Club

Lisa--Hugs to you! But at least they caught the polyp early. You'll be fine for WDW!

Cecelia--PD and hugs to you as well! Hope your episodes become less frequent and then leave entirely!

Christa--thanks for the kind words of encouragement. I was really down yesterday after that workout. Talked to DH last night, as he's out of town, and totally understands how I'm feeling. So he said, we'll just have fun and take it easy at WDW, if we have a good day, great, but if not, no biggie--we'll have lots of friends and family there to make the whole experience worthwhile.

Gonna try to get a short run in during the kids' naptime, between Christmas parties. Time to go get ready for party no. 1

Hi all -

Lucky me, I got my 6 miler in before the RAIN hit.

Adventures in running story: My partner and I are running along. I am pulling her as she is having a tough day and constantly wanting to take walk breaks. We are alone on a path in the woods so it is very isolated. ARound a curve, we see a man in clothing very similar to a Jedi from Star Wars. Loose pants, big cape looking thing with a large hood covering his face. He is carrying what looks to be a large stick. We had to check ourselves to make sure we hadn't run through some sort of time portal. It was very strange and more than a little scary. I no longer had to encourage my partner to run. We ran past him and kept running until we got back to our cars. She knew I could out run her if he chased us so she wasn't going to let me get too far ahead!

Terri - Menier's Disease is a disorder usually associated with the ears. Basically it means that you have episodes of horrible vertigo or loud rushing or ringing in your ears. These episodes are not caused by anything and they just "happen" There is no cure either. Some people suffer hearing loss and even eventual deafness. Some Dr's treat it with prescription version of dramamine. My experience is that the meds don'tr do anything but put you to sleep. Of course, sometimes when it gets too bad, sleep is a nice escape.

Lisa - My Dr is sending me to a balance therapist to see if that will help. I have only had 'minor' episodes so far, so that might be why they haven't sent me to a neurologist. Even this time wouldn't be so bad if I weren't running a marathon in three weeks. But I can't run when I can't tell where the ground is. Thanks for the pixie dust! Be sure to sprinkle some on yourself that you heal quickly. You will be nice and rested for the Half and feel great. :wizard:
Judy - :lmao: You are so funny! I could just see the whole story, thanks for the laugh.
Amybeth - I hope your shoes came and that you got out for that run! as for how I get out there: I have a whole slew of running buddies so I always have someone meeting me. My wednesday night crew has come up with a new way of making sure people don't whimp out- they make up horrible nicknames for the no shows.

One more big run then we head to Arkansas for Christmas! I am hoping it doesn't snow since I have to run a bunch while I am there. Call me a wimp, but I think snow would stop me in my tracks. I doubt I would even search out a treadmill. Hopefully I won't find out!

Thanks for teh PD! Must have worked, because teh bone scan came back negative. Now to see what doc advises fro work outs.

Lisa - So glad you cauth thigns early!!! :)

Cecelia - Hope you can find something to help!

Why do I train this time of year? Because it means I get to go to WDW in January. If I did not have a race in January, I guarantee I would slack all winter! :wizard: :wizard: To everyone who has teh training blues! Hope you pull of some good runs adn put some fun back into things soon!

Looks liek I may be outside for my 20 miler!!! Now to get over teh mostly solo part. I know many of you do it, but Ihave been spoled by dh. Remind me that the bnext time he stays 20 feet in front of me for the whole run adn I want to kill him. ;)

Hello, WISHers!

I got in 3.5 miles today and the whole time thought about the big 2-0 on Saturday. I'm just praying that it doesn't rain! Even though I'm loving running with temps in the 40's, I wouldn't mind it warming up a bit as I seriously doubt it's going to be that cool at WDW. Tomorrow will be an easy day of XT and weights (and carb loading!) to get ready for Saturday.

Carrie - So happy for the good news! I'll be doing my 20 solo this Saturday; I'll think of you and hope you don't feel too alone.

Cecilia - :scared1: That would definitely put me on pace for a PR!

Stephanie - Hope you're doing better and got your run in!

Judy - Love to watch DH with his "stick" -- almost as entertaining as listening to him lowering himself into an ice bath.

AmyBeth - UPS never gets to my house until after 5:00, so I decided to run before my new shoes came. Well, guess who came early today?!? If I'd only waited! Hope you got yours.

WWDave - That Hummer might also come in handy to give those of us who don't quite make the 26.2 a ride back to Epcot!

Christa - I am officially nominating you for WISH cheerleader. Just keep reminding us that this is FUN!

Lisa - Sorry you're laid up for a couple weeks but so glad that they caught it! You can definitely do the half -- just stay well and we will sprinkle you with enough PD to get you through!

Terri - I get a quote emailed to me every day from Runner's World. A recent one was "there's no bad weather, only soft runners". I'm trying to make that a mantra because I HATE cold, windy, wet weather!

Kristi - A snowstorm here would mean no shopping, unless it's on the internet!

Bill - Color me lime green with envy! Have fun at WDW!

Dana - PD! I've decided to back off on my time goal. My biggest goal is to finish with a smile on my face.

For those of you needing inspiration, go to youtube and search for Dick and Rick Hoyt. I watched a couple videos on them before my run today. That's my cure for the pity-parties that I sometimes want to throw for myself.

Happy training!
Renee

Cecelia -
That is so scary! OMG! Where were you running at? Was it a nearby park?

I'm sorry to hear about your problems. I find it interesting because I have had problems with unexplained dizziness. It has been bad the last couple of days. I do sometimes have ringing in my ear. I thought maybe I had vertigo or something. On my short run Tuesday I got really dizzy while out running. At first I panicked thinking I was catching DH's stomach flu, but the dizziness continued throughout the day and night and I never got sick. :confused3

Sorry guys I'm not keeping up. It has been crazy this week as I'm sure it is for all of us. Plus, our WDW trip is creeping up on us fast!

I ran 3 miles for my LR this morning - my first official week of my half marathon training program. I managed to get in all four runs this week - total miracle. The run this morning was hard for some reason, I felt plain ole' tired.

Anyway, I hope everyone has a great weekend! :goodvibes

Hi guys!!! Seems there are lots of injuries going on around this board! Please all take care of yourselves! You must make it to the starting line healthy!!! :wizard: :wizard: for all you guys and gals nursing injuries!

Lisa--So sorry to hear you cannot run right now, but try to stay positive. I know it's hard, but it looks like they found it in time. That is worth sacrificing 2 weeks of running! You'll still be great!!! :wizard: and

Try to stay warm these next few days! Enjoy your time off (if you work... :goodvibes ) and spending time with your families!

Stacie

I also went to the Doctor about my Menier's Disease yesterday. Unfortunately there is still no treatment option for me. The medications they use to treat it cause severe drowsiness. Not only that, they only treat the symptoms. There is no cure. So for now, I just continue to hope I get over this episode quickly.
Cecilia

Cecilia...I'm not an ENT, but the patients I have who also have Meniere's are usually on a low salt diet. I believe the theory is that increased fluid in the inner ear contributes to Meniere's symptoms. I've also seen some folks put on mild diuretics to decrease the fluid retention. Hope things get better for you soon!

Carrie...glad everything turned out ok for Scott. Are ya ready to start some trash talkin' over the Capital One Bowl? ;)

Charlie really enjoyed the show, as he sat in the recliner with his coffee, watching me roll around, most of the time putting my face in the carpet and making sounds like a sumo wrestler. But once I got the hang of it, I was rolling around pretty well, whimpering only a little.

But oh geez! Afterwards...it was amazing! Oh my legs feel soooo much better! I think I love me some foam roller! :thumbsup2 Yes, yes! :goodvibes My legs feel so good I want to roll all my other parts around on it.
Judy, Judy, Judy - Why do you insist on doing this?

I try to take the high road.

I always give WWDave and Vic the first shot. And still...

No comment! No, wait. I have to.

So, Charlie likes to watch?!

Judy: The image is precious! :lmao: You made me LOL.

Everyone: Thank you for your encouragement. I do not know what I would do without WISH right now. No one except my MIL seems to understand that I am happy that I had the procedure done and that I am free of potential cancers but that I just want this over and moving on with my life. Running is what clears my mind, it makes me feel good and it frees my soul and yesterday, I felt grounded and trapped.

Today, I am feeling better. Not only have my WISH friends shown me the light but a heart to heart with my MIL has also brought me back to reality. I cannot run for 2 weeks but, I can ride bike, I can do elliptical and I can ski (as long as I don't fall) so I am once again freed from my everydayness. I am going to be a good girl until Saturday and then I am going to ski at my DDs birthday party, nice and easy, I promise. If I feel good then, I will hit the gym with a vengance on Monday and do what I can do.

Thank you again to everyone for their support. You are the best group of people I have met and I cannot wait to meet all in person in January!! :woohoo:

Greetings Racing Team

OK, let's talk about foam roller. :goodvibes

Oh

my

GOD!!

THE PAIN! OMG! MOMMY! IT HURT SO MUCH! THE PAIN! MAKE IT STOP!

Charlie really enjoyed the show, watching me roll around, most of the time putting my face in the carpet and making sounds like a sumo wrestler. But once I got the hang of it, I was rolling around pretty well, whimpering only a little.

But oh geez! I think I love me some foam roller! :thumbsup2 Yes, yes! :goodvibes

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMpopcorn::

Doesn't this belong in Penthouse? :confused3 :lmao:

Well, I should have seen THIS coming...... You guys! :lmao: Santa's not going to bring you anything if you keep this up!

I've decided to do the 10 MFM calls for tomorrow, and not do the 13.1 I was planing on. The reason I wanted to do 13.1 was to compare it to the 13.1 I did last year at this time, but since I have to do it on the TM tomorrow, there really is no point. So I'll do my 10, then start tapering.

I want to WISH everyone on our Racing Team a very Merry Christmas and thank everyone for the support and encouragement and yes, the abuse, I've gotten the past year. You guys make me laugh, make me cry, keep me going, get me to the start line and to the finish line. You help me get up at a ridiculous hour every day I have to train and you keep me going when I don't feel like I can do another mile. I am grateful for that. It's really made a difference in my life.

I want to give a special shoutout to some of my WISH friends who I don't see to much of anymore, but I really hope are just lurking....Sunny, MSDave, Paul, LLPLisa, Jodistar, Kevin, GoofyGuy Mike, ...I hope all is well with you and hopefully we'll see you soon.

:snooty: Happy Holidays everyone, from your Queen of Y.A.R.C. :snooty:

Hello everyone......it's been ages since I posted over here. You guys are so hard to keep up with, both on the boards and in training. I'm just content to waddle away with the mostly walking people.

I was sent over here by Dave who informs me that Judy has once again blessed us with another visual. Good grief, the lady makes my inappropriateness seem tame. All I did was talk about my anatomically complete gingerbread men with big, jagunda.......and some with teeny,tiny........but Judy has to outdo me by reenacting the entire Kama Sutra on her living room floor! What a riot! I am so in awe of the Queen.

I hope everyone's training is going well as we approach taper. I have my last long walk tomorrow. I am dreading the 20 miles but will be so happy when it's over. I have not kept up with the thread but noticed some mention of injuries and illness. Best wishes and pixie dust to all those who are hurting.

Last but not least, a very Merry Christmas and happy holiday to all the WISH team. And safe travels to all those on the road or in the air.

jeanne

I am just checking in and read the post by the Almighty Queen and would like to say ditto to her thoughts.

I am new to this board but in the past few months I have learned a lot about myself. I do have things to share and there are people who will listen. I am not alone in my pain, dissapointments and in my sacrifices. I am also not alone in my goals, drive and determination. WISH is a gift that I will treasure for many years to come. Thank you to everyone who posts, no matter how often, some days you are all that gets me out and moving.

So, MERRY CHRISTMAS to everyone and here is to an injury-free, rocking running/walking New Year for all!!
:dance3:
From the frozen north, your YARC Princess of Fun and Adventure signing off now.......All Hail the Queen! :worship: Oh, and that Panda Guy too......:rolleyes1

Renee - :goodvibes That's what I love about WISH. You know tere's always another WISHer out there when you are. I'll keep you in my htoughts too!

Mel - Have you looked at our recent bowl history? If Henne and Hart are healed, I'd liek to think they'd win this one for Carr's last game. I'm not sure if I'm confident enough fo rtrash talk, thoug. The BIg 10 really neesd to redeem itself after last year, though. Sadly, had marathon been earlier this year, we could have had a chance at gettign there. I'll hold out for the ROse Bowl, though. ;) BTW, Scoot loves your idea of a 20-miler meet next year. SO, does that mean you're doing the full again? ;)

Scott update - Doc gave him teh ok to start training again, but his evil wife said she was sure taht doc didn't mean he should start with a 20-miler. We still don't know how he got hurt and re-injuring himself this late in the game could be nbad. he listened but he now belives I'm the most awful wife in teh world. :sad2:

Safe runs fro everyone this weekend and have a VERY Merry Christmas!!!!

:confused3 HELLO TEAM - ONCE AGAIN I GOT LOST!!! :confused3

I just now started reading this weeks thread, no way I am going to make it through the whole week but thank you so much to everyone for the welcome back and I know it was a loooong time ago :rotfl2: but my workout last Saturday went ok. I was so scared to do anything:sad2: but I made it through and even though I was SOO sore the next day ( I love that feeling - is that sick or what) but I can honestly say that was the best my back felt since surgery.

So then Monday I made it to gym to do the slowest run/jog I have ever had on treadmill for 2 miles. The good news is I felt great  I was frustrated because I wanted to go so much longer and so much faster.

Then came the rest of the week and NOTHING!!!! :scared1:

Oh well a little at a time right? I am SOOO jealour of all you guys doing marathon but I will be there cheering. DH is kicking but with his training and I'm so excited about DH and DS doing 5K.

I have not had a chance to catch up but here are a few:
SCoJo15 I had a herniated disc in my lower back that was crushing the nerves and causing unbearable pain for 6 months and no reflexes left in my right ankle so I had the herniated part remove and it feels great :cheer2:

Speaking of pain I was thinking yesterday how bad it was. I remember standing in line at Port Orleans to check in for MINNIE marathon literally in tears because it hurt so bad. The thing that never made sense was the only time it did not hurt was when I ran. I proceeded to complete the 15K at an 8:58 pace :confused3 But now it's all better

Stephanie I can not believe all you have done this year and I think you are very wise to take a break after Disney. I had started to feel TOTALLY like you do - to a tee!! Guess what, after the break I have had I can not WAIT to get back out there. I'm so excited :dance3: The first thing I'm training for is MINNIE 15K!!!

OK gotta to go to bed early going to EPCOT tomorrow for candlelight processional, it has become a family traditions. We don't even have APs this year but someone at work gave us free tickets to park for the day :cheer2:

Good luck to everyone on your long runs this weekend

GO TEAM:cheer2:
