MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

MikeHat.jpg

This is Mike Malinin - the drummer who does ultras! He promised he will do the Disney races one of these years with us!

JohnHat.jpg

This is my boyfriend, Johnny Rzeznik's autograph. He doesn't run, I just  him!
Well, at least he didn't run from me! :rotfl:

I won't bore you with all the details...I'll do that to my GGDs message board people!

Everyone can now use the 'Kristi Bail Fund' for more Disney Marathon souvenirs! :teeth:

Anne-you HAVE to be there Friday night! Your energy is so contagious, we need that pep before having to get up at 2:30 in the a.m.

Colleen-great pics & great job on the race!!!!

Kristi-I am so glad Cam didnt have to drive over & plead your case in front of the judge ~ GGD addiction coupled with the beginnings of taper madness is a plausible defense, right?

MelR- I feel your pain. I subbed yesterday & while having my class in the computer lab, the computer teacher had to pick up her son from the middle school because he had a fever. So he couldnt stay at school because of this fever, but she brought him to sit in the computer lab, with me & all my students until the end of the school day. I'm thinking if he couldnt be at the other school, why should you have him here with all these younger kids?! We had over 100 students out Monday

Terri- :wizard: I hope you feel better soon!

AmyBeth- :wizard: to you too. Although, I think you have built up a pretty good base, just try to keep at it but not push too hard or it could get worse. I know you can make it!!!! :cheer2:

DS woke up at 4:00 this morning with a headache, gave him Tylenol & sent him back to bed (and of course he always wakes me up never daddy) well by 4:45 he was back up & still not sleeping good. I have him propped up on the sofa hoping he will fall asleep. And as I type this he comes in here wide awake. It's going to be a long day at school for him!

Just a quick drive-by.

Judy--so sorry to hear about Mist. We'll be thinking and praying for you.

Kristi--cool hat! That had to be exciting!

Anne-- :rotfl2: about the soap.

So, does stuffing your face with cookies and donuts constitute eating healthy during the last big week of training??? Would it be rude to throw away all the food everyone keeps bringing into the office so I'm not tempted to eat everything, including the plates and napkins?

Training's going well this week, but then again, we're not to the weekend yet. We'll see how that goes. :sad2:

Have a good hump day, everyone!

Steve

Judy-- :grouphug: Ugh. I can't believe all that you and Mist have been through only to end up here :confused3 I'm so sorry.

Terri-- :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: Get better soon!

Heather-- I forgot to say hi yesterday... Hi! Sounds like between the two of us, we make up one pretty good training plan!

Colleen-- great pics, Wow! you are so slender, did you lose weight? You look great!

Amy-- I can totally relate to all that you wrote. I am so sorry you are having such a hard time. You'll make it to the start line, I just know it :grouphug:

Kristi-- you are so funny :rotfl2: I hope your head doesn't sweat too much ;) So do they recognize you yet????

Steve-- I don't know about the cookies, etc. but the plates and napkins probably add some "fiber" :rotfl:

TiffJ & MelR-- :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: Swoosh those bugs away. People have been sneezing on me all week. I'm ready to wear a sugical mask.

I went to the Y last night and did 8 miles. I was planning to wimp out around 5 just when Joe Buff hopped on the TM to my left. The IC made a cameo appearance :lmao: I had to outlast him. He was running much faster than me, but I'm sure I out distanced him ;) But I woke up at 4AM with horrible pain and I'm starting to wonder if I should do the final LLR this weekend. At 4AM I decided I would do 3 hours on elliptical/arc trainer intead. I'll see how the rest of the week goes. My schedule won't allow for back-to-backs, so I'll be going into Goofy having only done two b2b this whole season. Oh well.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
Yeah, some may frown upon that, but we'd understand! :lmao: :lmao:

So teh first thing that pops up when I open this thread is a hat with scribbles on it. I think, "Cool, Kristi did it!" Is that normal? :teeth:

Amy - :grouphug: :grouphug: I am so sorry that you're going through this. You did that 12 mpm pace and felt like you cuold do that forever? I ber you can. I kno w it's not the race youplanned, but you will finish. Don't hurt yourself more now though. Keep up with teh yoga and pilates to keep your muscles in shape. If you don't push too hard during the race you will not need quite the endurance as if you were doing 10 minute miles. The base is there. DO what you can, but don't hurt it worse. :wizard:

MelR (Pat, you'll like this too) - Went to pick up my contacts last week and this guy who could do nothing right, knew that from visit #1, was the only one there. Yay me. Anyway, he's nice, so I'm trying to be nice while asking for teh stuff he forgot to give me last time. "Oh, that's right,. I forgot to have you sign this too." So, he gives me his pen. I sign adn start putting my gloves back on. he procveeds toto tell me how hard it is to be working alone when he is so deathly ill. :scared: Great. Haven't worn those gloves since. ANyone know how to sanitize leather gloves?

Kevin - GOod luck finishing up finals! :wizard: Have a grat trip!

Jen - GLad you had a good time on teh TM. Hope you were able to gain some sanity during that time! Hang in there!

OK, day 2 after my TM run adn I'm still ok! :cheer2: Going to stick to teh tm today and tomorrow so that I don't reinjure anything prior to teh 20-miler. Still looking like an outdoor run! Woo hoo!!!!!

ETA: Anne - Is you dh participating in a race? My dh hates plannign stuff, but I swear, he LOVED teh Monday mornign meet. He is not a sit and talk kind of person either. But tell him there will be other marathoners there now adn he's excited! :woohoo: Hoepefully your dh will get caught up in teh excitement too!

Sunny - I loved your post, up to the pain part. :( I think the eliptical is a wise choice! :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: I swear the guy walking next to me Monday kept looking to see how fast I was going and wondering why I wasn't stopping. :teeth: Yup, I outlasted him. These TMs bring out the worst in me!

Kristi! That is great that you got the hat signed. The pics made it all fun for me too!

Amy, what Carrie said. You should make it even if you need to go slower. Sometimes some events are not the ones as we planned and hoped to have. Do what you can and don't over press.

Sunny, you too. I know you are going to make it through. I know it's been difficult. Keep a lid on it!

Carrie, good idea to TM these next couple. I'm with you then. It looks like an outside run for the weekend! Oh this is great.

Steve, if you figure out that cookie thing let me know. I simply cannot resist. It is getting ugly.

All I need to do is stay healthy! It's around here and I'm so trying to ignore any little feeling of colds/flu/aches... I think I've become to extremely sensitive to any little feeling.

Everyone dealing with the difficult parts either nursing the sick, sick, injuries, or whatever. Hang in there. Do what you can. Get to feeling well. Stay well.

PD to all for any needs.

Yeah, Carrie :cheer2: I'm watching the weather closely. Looks like perfect running weather if I go that route. It's amazing how mild its been here. Also hard on the pocket book since Dx plows... But I'm not complaining! However, the "competitive" TM syndrome does have its advantages. :p

Lily-- Thanks for your words to Amy and me. I've struggled with the whole pace thing but you are so right, let the event be what it is and don't expend energy thinking of what might have been.

I actually plan on making this my last long-distance event until further notice. After Goofy is behind me, I plan to concentrate on swimming and non-impact workouts until I feel much better. And, believe it or not, I'm ok with that! I'm not retiring my running shoes (especially since my new Kyanos will only have about 80 miles on them), but I'm going to take a break.

Greetings Team.

Today was a rest day so that's what I did.

I'm in a lousy mood. The bottom has fallen out of my enthusiasm. I was "Mrs All About the Race" but now I'm "Mrs Cranky Puss". Rather than subject you all to that, I'm laying low for a while, until this Mist things is straightened out.

I am however, sticking to my training plan. It seems to be one thing I do have under control.

:rotfl: Oh, no, actually I am up 6 pounds from this time last year. I think it is my new CWX tights that just SUCKS :crowded: everything in! I takes me 10 minutes to get them on and 30 minutes to get them off! :rotfl2:

OMG! I am NEVER going to catch up! I go away to a seminar for one day and this thread grew by about 4 pages!

I am so reassured to read everyone’s posts. Of course, it makes me feel better to know that everyone is training and doing well. But it is also reassuring to know that I am not the only one finding it difficult to carve out training time.

I know I don’t have time to catch up with everyone, but wanted to say:

Lily – I hope the furbaby is feeling better. So glad you lined up VIP viewing for DH!

Bill – sending pixiedust: to Lynnda and a  to you for taking such good care of her and Billy.

Carrie – feel free to send your donations to Kristi’s bail fund directly to me. I have been saving my pennies for when she calls me from a jail cell. :teeth: BTW, I am amazed at what garland can do for the ugliest, errr. .. I meant “barest” tree.

Matt – awesome pix! Congratulations on your great finish time. :thumbsup2

Mel– please be very careful and don’t let that patient get anywhere near you, sweetie.

MelR – Sending pixiedust: for your poor toesies.

Diane – you’ll have to tell us all about your VIP experience. We’ll love living vicariously!

Bekah – so glad you have come so far toward fulfilling your dream! Not too long now until you will be crossing the finish line!

Oh, Judy – poor Mist. I will be thinking of you.

Tiff –Thank you so much for helping me stay on track yesterday. I was missing all my WISH buddies while I was away. :lovestruc

Amy – Don’t beat yourself up for not being able to do LRs right now. You have built an incredibly strong base and anything you do right now, yoga or walking, is just going to help. I can’t wait to see you at the START line in January! :cool1:

Terri – I hope you are feeling better today.

I just read Kristi’s “MISSION ACCOMPLISHED” post – YAY!!!! Oooo, I see a new marathon tee shirt on the horizon now! Very cool, Kristi!

UGH! A colleague just sent a hershey’s chocolate tower food gift! Thank God I am not even interested in chocolate. At least that was one good side effect of 10 years of heart problems!

Sunny – you will be fine. You DO remember that you are supposed to be taking it easy, right? NOT trying to impress Joe Buff, you silly girl!

I finally figured out this morning why I am feeling incredibly wiped out all the time – I don’t think I’ve taken my vitamin more than once or twice in the past couple weeks. Just fell out of the habit. Getting back into it and even put some in my purse. I cannot get sick now!

My plan is for 6 on the TM tonight and another 6 tomorrow, rest Friday, and 20 or a bit more on Saturday, then on to the taper.

The really strange thing is that as of Saturday a.m., DH will be training for the Goofy. I must tell you all – regardless of how unprepared you think you all are and how deficient you think your training has been, no ONE has me in the panic I feel for DH. I am just hoping he will be able to walk come the evening of 1/7!

Hello from Preggo-ville!

Lily asked me to stop by so I could toss in a few of these:
:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

After a year or two for some of you and 3 months of "official training"--you are in the HOME STRETCH!!!! WTG!!!!!!!!!!

You made it to Taper-Land, now what are you gonna do?

That's right--in 3.5 weeks you will be at the land of mouse pushing some shoe leather to collect that Mickey or Donald!!!!!!

From my coaches mouth for the past two years, to my ears, to your eyes:

ANYTHING that happens now--you get a headache and you have to miss a run, you get the sniffles and you must miss a workout, your muscles are a wee bit on the burning side so you want to take an extra recovery day.....GUESS WHAT?????

It won't change the fact that you are ready for race day. 2 seasons ago--my taper got cancelled b/c I hurt my back on my 20-miler. Coaches told me to ICE and REST and do nothing. HUH---I still have 4 weeks left, what do you mean to do nothing???? They said get it better--then do some baby-easy-things and all will be fine on race day.

Last year--I couldn't run from the end of October until Thanksgiving due to knee surgery. But I finished the half in near record time--it was only 15 minutes slower than my PR. Not too shabby for 1 month off where for the first two weeks, my exercise consisted of range of motion stuff.

It is so easy to be in disbelief if you have to take care of yourself in these final weeks and sacrifice a run or two to recover from something. It truly is NO BIG DEAL!!!

You have spent several months training--what you can do on race day isn't a matter of what you can't do in these last few weeks..it is an accumulation of everything you have done to date.

So what does that mean:

Take NO RISKS!!!! You have a ski holiday planned? Cross-country it!

Your muscles are screaming for you to do just a few more miles? Whip them into submission with a massage--but don't give in.

You think you need to get in another super long day the week before just to try it and see if you can do it? TRUST THAT YOU CAN and stick to the taper!!

Best of all---YOU CAN DO IT!!!

I stood at the finish line of the full last year. I had knee surgery and a wonderful PT who got me to the half--so since I coudln't do the full..I went and watched all the runners come in!

Let me tell you---don't be frightened....b/c you CAN FINISH!!! It may be the best day of your life--it may be the worst day of your life....but YOU CAN DO IT!!!! Have fun---stay ahead of those sweepers..and make it to the finish line.

Even if you are the last person "running" while a Disney CM is casually walking behind you with the clock on wheels---you are finishing...you WILL get that medal!!!!

Good luck! Do NOT try anything new on race day--no new shoes, no new gu's, no new power bars, no new pretty outfit that you saved just for race day...no new nothing. Your body will thank you for it!!!

So run or walk or scoot that 13.1 or 26.2 and remember that the preggo Wish chick who can't be there---is thinking about you every mile.

Lastly--have a mantra--something you can repeat to yourself when the negative thoughts enter your head. Chase those negative thoughts away!

It starts with one step--it finishes with one step. It isn't rocket science, just a bunch of steps. ;)

As the Penguin would say--"YOU ARE AT DISNEY WORLD FOR PETE'S SAKE! WHAT'S THE RUSH???" Then he said something about having fun that I have long since forgotten. (Team In Training Pasta Dinner, WDW 2006, keynote speaker)

Oh, how I wish I were running my 1st marathon with ya'll at Disney! I just decided to check out the course map for the Little Rock marathon since they posted it. Okay, so now I'm ready to throw up! The last 2.5 miles are practically uphill--really uphill! So, I talk to my dad, mr. marathon extrodinare, and he says "Well, there's nothing written in stone that you have to run all 26.2" Well, yeah, was planning to walk my fair share, but what about crawling for a mile or so! ;) Guess I should add a little hill work to my training!

Got a 5 miler in yesterday and today is a rest day--or maybe I should say an "eat everything in sight" day! :rotfl2:

:rotfl2:
Joe Buff was about 19 yo, I'm sure he was vaguely aware there was an old lady next to him!!!!

Colleen-- I can't squeeze into my CWX tights :sad2: I'm not sure they could even do it now... I think I need to borrow Dave's Batman suit ;)

Lisa  :grouphug: It's so good to hear from you, and what wonderful advice and encouragement you have to offer us. I think we all needed to hear those words right about now.

Last year my final mantra came from a post of Colleen's: "Pain is temporary, finishing is forever". I said that in my head over and over starting somewhere around 24+.

Judy-- Focus on your training... one workout at a time, let the stress drain out with the sweat. You will get your optimism back, I promise :grouphug:

Bill-- Tell Lynnda hi, for me, too! Hope she is feeling better.

Cam-- Phew, take a deep breath! You've been a busy bee. BTW, chocolate is my number one downfall... Good thing I'm not at your office right now!

Sunny

Stephanie - I rana marathon in January and this summer came to almost a dead stop on a hill on a 10K. I'm sure you'll be fine. A little hill work won't hurt, though.

Lisa - :sad1: I miss you!!!!! Thanks fro all those words. We all could use a little reminder. EVen though part of me knows and preaches that, part of me is fraeakin gout ebcause I've missed so many runs lately. Are we going to have you back for 08???

Colleen - I don't care how much my clothes suck, they don't look like that on me. ;) Must be 6 pounds of muscle that you gained.

Hello Team:

I've been busy with work today. Yesterday was scheduled x-training, but I gave myself a rest day. I just haven't felt like training this week - so I took that to mean that I need a break. I'm going to head out for a run later today.

Craig and Lisa- Thank you so much for your advice and words of encouragement. I really needed it at this point. Craig, I thought your advice was right on, and was part of the reason I gave myself a break yesterday. I think I have been asking a lot of my legs this year. Lisa, I need to come up with a mantra for when it gets tough in the marathon. Good advice.

Kristi- Congrats on getting your hat signed. Don't sweat that signature off now.

Amy- I'm so, so, sorry that you are hurting so much these days. Hang in there. You have put a ton of training in, and you have a good base built up. You can do this marathon. Slow and steady, right?

Judy- I'm also so sorry that you have all this headache and complication to deal with Mist. I wish you all the best.

Sunny- Go easy on yourself. Impress all of us at Disney on the course, and don't worry about Joe Blow on the treadmill next to you. Just think, "I could out run you on the treadmill, but I'm saving myself for Disney (and Pluto)." Do it for Pluto, OK!

That's the plan, Peter Pan. :woohoo: :woohoo:

Hubby volunteered to run the full. :wizard:

Now as long as the sitting services at Disney run at 3:00 in the morning on race day--we're in business. :woohoo: :woohoo:

Thank so much Lisa! We do miss you around these parts. Glad to hear that you are on for 2008 and with DH too!

Judy, oh I'm so sorry Mrs. Cranky Puss. You come here anyway. We've got lots of hugs for you.
:grouphug:
Cam, don't worry. Howard will do it. Good for you staying away from the chocolates.

Dave, good thinking to listen to your body and take that break.

Stephanie, a little hill work and speed training at the appropriate time in training will make a difference for sure. Yikes on the hills at the end though.

Colleen, I've been meaning to put CWX tights on my WISH list. Now knowing I may have to live in them if it takes that long to get off has me rethinking.
:rotfl2: Nawww, not really. They are on my list though along with the funky ones.

Today I'm really liking the sunshine and as I am progressing through my day I'm feeling my OTHER knee bohering me. What's up with that?
