Wk Of Dec 1 - WISH Walking/Running Club

Good Morning WISHERS!!!

So... I kinda fell off the thread last week! It got a bit busy! I did finally catch up though!

Christa--I'm from Selma, NC! It's about 45 min east of Raleigh. Matt and I both work in Cary though.

Mel--Hope you are feeling better!

Lily--Glad tohear you had a good weekend!

Panda--How's the foot? Did your 6 miler go well? Any packet yet???

Lisa--12 inches of SNOW!!! We'll be lucky if we get a dusting!

Stephanie--Glad you had a good LR!

Steve--Good job on the LR in the rain!!!

For me... I did my C25K Day 3 of Week 7 on Saturday. I did 2.2 miles in 32 minutes which is my best time yet! I the last few minutes, I picked up my pace and almost felt like a runner! :goodvibes My STUPID FEET went NUMB though! ugh! This has got to stop! If hadn't of been for that, I would have felt great--maybe best workout yet! On Sunday, My mom and I decided to walk. We would pickup the pace occassionally. I attempted the race-walking. I'd seen a few videos on it. Not sure if I was doing it correctly though! WOW! What a workout! I felt that in my legs more than the jogging! Kudos to you who do that for many miles!!!

:wizard: to all who are not feeling well!!!

Good snowy morning all!!! :cold: We have been upped to at least 12" and maybe as high as 20 by the time it is done!!! Kids have no school so I am working, chatting and defusing. I guess that is either multitasking or cross training, not sure which!!

I have 40 minutes today which is supposed to be running, which I could do on the treadmill....but I could snowshoe....or I could ski...so many choices. I am thinking outside since: A. I can leave the kids and it is peaceful in the woods and; B. I can get some fresh air and out of being cooped up in the house!!! :rolleyes1

 to the sick and injured. Panda, hope the paw: makes it through the 6 today. Good luck with the training today everyone!!

Hi pretty princess.

No Erica and I have not ventued out yet. We are waiting for it to warm up a bit, it's currently 29 degrees with a stiff wind. It's stopped raining though. I still have to do that 6 miler, still hoping it will go ok.

Stacie numb feet are a sign that your shoes are to tight. The rule is that your runners/walkers should be a half to a full size larger than your regular shoes. Your feet swell with exercise so even if a shoe is comfortable when you are just wearing them for everyday stuff, they will be to tight after the first mile or two, and in the higher miles they can get really snug.

Good morning WISH TEAM:flower3:

Have a super day y'all.

Hey all... Not a whole lot to report. I didn't run until Sunday because I just got home from me trip and wanted to get some things done before the blizzard hit. So Saturday was spent with the kids and running errands. Sunday I hit the home TM because it was quite sloppy outside with all the snow and the lack of snow removal on a Sunday. My TM is in the basement right by a window, so the kids played outside and would stop by the window to wave and make faces at me. I did 1:45 which is about 8 or so miles for me. I was so glad it was a cut back week!

Big Vic - I have had those days where I thought I need to run more and was pleasantly suprised that I didn't!!! Congrats on your pace!!!

Mel - Oh I hope you feel better soon!!!! It's no fun being sick, especially when you have training to do. Right now I live in fear of all the germs my kids bring home from school!

Lisa - I live in the Winter Wonderland also. I love the seasons we have, but really don't live the windy cold. If I could live without wind, I think the weather would be perfect!

OK, I have a ton to do at work. And a staff meeting. My staff is being scroogy this year and not donating to the food bank, the box is half empty... or is is half full??? Well anyway, it should be 2 boxes full!!!

Have a great one all!!!

Frozen Panda--Thanks! I will try to losen my shoes! They are normally ok for the first 20 - 25 min, but those last 5-10. I just got them a few months ago and only use them for my training. They are the New Ballance 1223 (I think). They are regular width. Sometimes I need a wide, but I thought these may be ok. Maybe I should have gone w/ the wide... Oh, well. I'll losen them and hope they will be ok. I really don't want to have to buy new shoes! These cost me an arm and TWO legs! lol!

Hope you and Erica get in your 6 miles today! 29 degrees AND wind! Whew! Hope are able to stay nice and toasty!

Stacie

Greetings all -

We had a tremendously busy weekend but still managed to get the miles in. I only had five on Saturday, but hey, that's what MFM calls for! :confused3 Actually, it only called for 4 but I add a mile every weekend just in case. But seriously, five miles feels like so little right now. Anyway, then I did three this morning. So I go add eight to our mileage thread.

Saturday night we had our benefit for the Sanctuary that rescued Mist. We had 19 people say they were coming but only 8 showed up! :headache: Grrrr. Well, thankfully those 8 were very generous.

Yesterday we saw Cirque de Solei Wintuk at Madison Square Garden. I guess we hadn't see La Nouba we would have liked it better. Charlie still thought it was good but I thought it was totally boring. La Nouba keeps you so entertained and awstruck the entire time. This one was nothing like that.

And now....drum roll please......many of you might remember when I got my first pair of Kayanos. Remember how I took them to bed with me? Ha ha ha! Well, this morning, I retired them. It was a hard decision to make, as those were the shoes that took me thru my first Half marathon in January. But they are just too worn out now. The treads are almost completely gone on the outside. I feel like I should hang them next to my medals or something. :guilty:

OK and yes, those of you who are right now thinking I get too attached to inanimate objects, the fact is, yes I do. :upsidedow

Mel - Oh you poor thing. :wizard: Who the heck ever came up with the idea of sinus' anyway!? They are nothing but trouble!

Lisa - You have cows? That is so totally cool. :cool2:

Lily - Excellent on the eight miles! :woohoo:

Gimping Panda - Ohh I'm sorry to hear about your paw. :wizard: I don't have my race packet either. WAHHHHH!!

Vic - Wow, excellent pace on your L/R! :thumbsup2 And you even did more than you had too!

Kristi - Umm, why do you have only faces in your post? Did I miss something? :confused3 Hows the Matrix? Do you love it?? Oh, Ok I see. :rolleyes1 Did you get a spanking?? Oh what great lights!

Stephanie - OMG you were booking on your L/R!! :thumbsup2 You go girl! OK, well, that would explain why I don't have my packet either. :upsidedow

Steve - Fab-u-lous pace on a particularly nasty L/R! :woohoo: Sounds like you really didn't let the ugly weather slow you down a bit!

dkp - As long as you are ahead of the sweepers, that's all that's counts! :thumbsup2

Jackie - Oh Jackie, my dear, I hate to argue, but you DO run that fast! Whooo hooo! :woohoo:

Stacie - Did you see the latest edition of RW magazine with the really nifty different ways to lace up your running shoes? A different lacing pattern may help too. :)

Kim - Don't worry, we won't kick you off the team but we will send the Big Dogs out to find you! :goodvibes

Hello!

I finally got back out after my recent cold/flu - whatever it is you wanna call it. I have only run twice since my Thanksgiving 10K so I was a tad worried, but DayQuil and a cup of coffee got me thru it. :thumbsup2

I ran 3.10 miles with DH and managed an 11:04 pace, decent considering I was trying not to push myself. I like when DH runs with me. He is faster, but he'll run up ahead and then come back. I just like him being in my view - I feel safer.

Hope everyone is well today! :wizard:

Yes Erica and I got our 6.2 chilly miles in and my foot was fine. A little discomfort but much better.

Evil Erica caught me sleeping going up a steep hill and took off and left me. I finally caught her at the top. She is doing really well this year.

Walking Panda:hippie:

Good to hear the Panda paw is on the mend. And glad that Erica keeps you wondering!!!

Judy: Cows are food. Cows are not cool. Horses are cool....cows not so much.

I went out snowshoeing with my DS6 today and we made it 1.55 miles. At about 1.3 miles he decided to stand under a tree and hit the branch hanging over his head. We had to switch hats. I looked marvelous in his rabbit fur bomber hat and he looked equally as fabulous in my ear warmer. But, he was a trooper and even though his neck hurt from the freezing snow, he tramped on. :thumbsup2

I can't speak for the rest of you but I'm just about over all this training business.

I say we all just call up those nice Disney Endurance folks and tell them to set up the mile markers and water stations.

We're coming down this weekend!!!

How do you join WISH racing?

Both of my parents, rKyDeX and mrstrx, are on WISH racing and Im currently training for the Goofy 2008 in the 3 to 4 hour mark.

Welcome! You've just joined the team!

I'm guessing you must be Chet. Glad to finally 'meet' you!

Little humor to start the day.

We went to get our Christmas pictures last night. After getting home and finding what I was supposed to wear on the bed, Lynnda came in to describe everything. Afterwards she asks a question that totally floored me, "Do you think they match?" My cloth selection each morning goes something like this, dark pants have a light shirt and light pants have a dark shirt. Now I am being asked if something matches. Figuring that she had spent time picking eveything out, I was sure that everything matched more than I could ever do even by accident. So being confronted with one of those questions that a guy has no clue to answer, I said the only thing I could think of, "Sure honey". :)

Pondering more during my run last night, I figured it was a way to blame me if the pictures didn't turn out good. I had been given the opportunity to change things and didn't so now I can accept all blame. However, the ace in my pocket is the fact that any picutre with her in it is good therefore I won't be in trouble. :thumbsup2 Which is good since we spent way more time there than we should have. :sad2:

Panda Dave - I have been looking for spare paws for you but so far I haven't found any donors. Our golden doesn't seem to want to part with his and the stray cats in the neighborhood have been avoiding me recently. I did find some bear paws but they didn't look like they would do much more than keep the current ones warm. Hope things work out quickly for you. By the way, what's up with this swimming thing when it is freezing outside. :scared:

Vic - Great job on your race this weekend. Those are great times, I will have to work harder now to keep you from catching with me early in the morning.

Lisa - Sounds like you had fun snowshoeing. Hope the doctors can figure out what is wrong.

Shan - Glad you are feeling better now. Hopefully you are now done with illness for the season.

Judy - "5 miles is so little now"...:lmao: I have a feeling that if I looked hard enough I could find a quote by you that said just the opposite. See how far you have come to think those distances are short. In no time you will feel the same about 13 or more. :thumbsup2

Kim - I don't think anyone will be kicked out. Glad to see you back.

Jen - Glad you were able to get your run in even if it was on the TM. Good to see that your kids had fun with you during it as well.

Stacie - Great job on keeping up with your training. You are doing great.

Kristi - Glad that you got your new "toy". Hope you enjoy it.

Better get to work now. Have a great day.

Bill

Good Morning Wish Team!

Another beautiful day in Atlanta. What I wouldn't give for a little of the rain that hit the West coast!

I did run on Saturday morning and it was a great run. One benefit of a serious drought is that you almost always have perfect running weather!

For some reason, life has decided to make training difficult. Sick kids, shopping, parties, projects, and DH's travel schedule are all conspiring againest me this week. How does anyone with a full time job train for a marathon at Christmas? Do you guys ever sleep? Wow.

I can't speak for the rest of you but I'm just about over all this training business.
Sign me up! Wait! I am not ready. No, sign me up. Wait! I don't have my packet.........

Marathon quote for the week:

Pain & Suffering are inevitable but Misery is optional.

Kristi - Umm, why do you have only faces in your post? Did I miss something? :confused3 Hows the Matrix? Do you love it?? Oh, Ok I see. :rolleyes1 Did you get a spanking?? Oh what great lights!
Apparently one cannot ask for help in a contest on the DISboards.
BUT you can list what you are selling on eBay & your seller name on the Budget threads...

Anywho, I have done nothing worthy of posting here on a training thread. I didn't manage to get to the Y as planned yesterday. I was truly all psyched up to go, then it started snowing again! :sad2: After my 2 hour commute yesterday morning in the snow:scared: , I did not feel like going out in it again. Bad Kristi! I will get to it today though.

For the record - I also don't know how anyone with a FT job trains for a marathon. I can't even get all my half marathon training in for goodness sake!

Bill - you will have to share your holiday picture with us!

Guess what--I am running the half marathon!!!!!!!!!!!!!   A friend of mine was supposed to run the half, but ended up hurting her knee really bad and actually will need surgery. She's letting me run using her bib/chip. I know it's not 100% ethical, but personally I don't have a problem with it, especially in a situation where an injury is preventing them from running. Anway, I feel REALLY bad for my friend, but I am HAPPY for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, I confess, I haven't read the boards much for the past couple of weeks, so I'm off to go get caught up, be back to talk!
