3 miles today in 41:50 (13:57 pace). Intervals were W5/R8.5, W5/R5, W5/R3, W5/R3, W1/R1.5. I checked back...this time last year, pace was right around a 16 min mile. I finished the half with a 14:21 pace, so I'm hoping for some serious improvement between now and the next half.

Lily...I posted the websites as a separate post. Thanks for your help!

I'm planning to place the order in about a week so they'll be here in time for DL!

Have a good training week!

Hi Everyone,

Wow, I feel like it's been forever since I've been here - not sure what I last and I still have to get updated on everyone's postings.

Friday, I did 3 miles on the threadmill. Although, the week itself was exhausting....We were short a few admins -- so their client teams had me hopping, as well as my own. I did get some overtime though....so I guess that is a good thing.

Yesterday, I went for my training with Macy's - would you believe it took 8 hours to go over everything? Everyone, had already worked retail in the past so it was all review for us. Thank god, we do get paid for coming in for training.

Today is my Ice Cream run (5k)....I'm a little tired but I guess I will be okay. After the race I have to drop off at my brother's house to drop off his birthday present -- I made him a party tub.

Well, I'm going to get going for now, going to try and catch up with last week.

Jodi

I SIGNED UP FOR THE WDW MARATHON!
Yeah!

Jodi - Best of luck with your 5K. Be sure to take it easy with the second job. As training for Goofy intensifies, you're bound to feel fatigued more often. Please listen to your body.
Thank you for the well wishes….looking forward to today. No worries, I will take care of myself – I have a feeling I won’t be able to hack the job but I’m hoping to stay for sometime at least. My DH has already said that if he feels that it is getting into the way of my training that he will make sure that I quit.

Happy Belated Birthday Cam!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: Hope you had a wonderful birthday!

Oh Sunny, I hope someone is able to help you soon! I would love to see you at Disney World in January.

Jodi- I just wanted to wish you luck with your ice cream 5K this Sunday. Eat some for me OK? Oh yeah, and have a good run too.
Thanks Dave – I will :teeth:

I'm heading out for my long walk (8 miles) in a minute.

But first, I'd like to impose on everyone for a prayer.

Please pray for my nephew, Matt. He’s 11. His appendix burst Friday morning and was promptly removed. However, he is not improving. Peritonitis has set in.

The diarrhea and vomiting started Wednesday and they haven’t stopped. Even with IV he is trapped in permanent dehydration, not to mention the pain of surgery and residual infection. If he still had vomiting and diarrhea last night, he will be getting a feeding tube today.

Thank you.

Jodi - HAve fun at the Ice Cream Run! Good Luck at Macy's. They just opened one here in downtown Philly. It's so sweet of your DH to be looking out for your training. :)

KelNottAt - I'll keep Matt in my prayers! :wizard: :grouphug:

Mel - Looks like we're at about the same pace. I'm hoping for some improvement before the DL 1/2. I also want some consistency. Sometimes I finished at a 13 - something pace and other days I'm into the 14's. I wish I could be more steady.

Terri

Finished my 4 miles LR (after all this training, it doesnt seem like a LR to me anymore :teeth: ) my overall pace 14:23 which is good considering how hot it was. My breakdown:

1st 2.09 mi 13:58
.91 mi 14:31
last mile 15:09

I really had to slow down because of heat. But at least I smoked the first 2 miles :cool1: And I learned a valuable lesson. Dont ride 9 miles on your bike for the first time in 3 months the day before your LR. Your legs dont appreciate it!!!!!!

I bought some new shoes yesterday & they seem to be o.k so far. My Kayano's that I love have changed models & didnt feel right in the store (wasnt going to gamble on $135 pr of shoes) so I tried the Asics Cumulus. They are very ugly -white with really, really, bright orange but they feel good. And bonus, they are much cheaper that the Kayano's. Also this weekend was tax free shopping so that helped too.

KelNottAt-My prayers are with you & your family :wizard: for your nephew's recovery.

Mel-Awesome pace :cool1: Is your foot holding up ok?

I bought our tickets for WDW last night :thumbsup2 Thanks to the DIS boards I found out about the price increase effective today so I went ahead & ordered them. I saved about $40 ! My whole family is excited about the Illuminations dessert thing.

Off to get productive! Have a great day everyone!

Just 22 weeks away now..... and just two weeks until the "official" start of training for most of us "full-ers." :cool1:

Catching Up....
Tracey-- Don't worry too much about the difference between running on the road and running on the treadmill. So long as you spend most of your training sessions on th pavement, your body will get used to it.

Cam-- DL packets! :guilty: I'm totally jealous. (Stupid work and school..... :furious: )

Matt-- Awesome job on the race for you and DW!! :thumbsup2

Kelley-- :grouphug:

This weekend was pretty much a bust training-wise... just too busy--- or rather, not nearly motivated enough. I said after last year I would get over the "I'm too busy" thing.... and I need to start now.

I spent a lot of time this weekend getting ready to start training... I ordered GU, wrote out my training schedule in my planner, wrote out my itinerary, downloaded new stuff on my iPod, etc. My goal for this coming week is simply to get all the training I have scheduled in. I'm hoping to suspend worrying about pace and such and concentrate on getting out there 5 days a week.

Oh, I did my "Marathons to Run" list this weekend as well. I would post it, but believe it or not, I came up with 32 of them! Certainly something to shoot for.

Happy training all!
Kevin :earsboy:

Morning WISH Team!

Kelley, PD and Prayers for Matt.

Dana, whew! Sorry about being sick. Glad it's better now. You might want to check out the CafePress WISH stuff Sunny made for t-shirts. You might be able to get "scream team" shirts there for the kidlets.

Tiff, Yay! for the new shoes and the pace. You are doing great.

Terri, you are doing great with your pace. I think it is a bit faster than January's pace right?

Jodi, good luck with your event today. I hope you can manage that 2nd job and training too. I've considered that, but figure I won't be able to get something where I can continue with training and then I tell my employer when I need to be away for January and they go for it. Hope it all comes together for you.

I went out this a.m. to do a 10k...turned it into 7 miles. I tried r/w...I don't exactly like to do that. I guess though I do it in the event b/c I usually walk all water stations...fear of sliding on all the cups. I managed a 16 min pace. It's all good for me.

Going to play this afternoon at a park near here that my DSis has her RV stationed. Taking Mom and DH so it should be enjoyable. Enjoy the day everyone.

Great to hear that you are on it!

One step at a time, you can get to it.

Hey everybody! This is a sort of drive by, I'll be back later today to chat. I just wanted to post my race results for the 5K yesterday. I finished it in 32:07--my best time for 5K. :cheer2:  :cheer2:

Oh darn! I am so fired! Must have been too late for me last night because I forgot half (or more) of what I'd planned to post.

Someone asked about chat a month or so ago (Monica, was that you?). We have a cool new chat option here on the DIS. Check out this link:
New Chat Room up ready
We could plan to meet occasionally if anyone's interested in a live chat option. Would a weekday night work okay for most people?

We have ADR at Ohana on Jan 6 for 5:45. Who else will be there that night?

Kelley...wow...your nephew will certainly be in my thoughts.

Kevin...my race list is expanding too...with the WISH team's and marathonguide.com's help. I have national and international...looking for small, quirky races instead of all big, famous races.

Krista - Congrats on your 5K! A PR! :cool1:

Mel - I like your race choices. I'm working on my list.

I'm, making my list based on completing at least a 1/2 or Full marathon or 1/2 or full ironman traithlon in all 50 states. If I do at least 2 of these longer events a year, I figured I should meet my goal when I'm about 70 years old.
Gives me something to shoot for :teeth:

I was thinking of tabulating everyones race choices to see which one's are most popular among WISH-ers. If anyone is interested, please PM me your race choices for each state and I'll keep a tally. To give folks time to research races, I'll take everyone's list up until August 31st. Then I'll tally them and post them for all to see.

I think this would be a good way to get exposed to different races in different states. When sending your info, please include the name of the event, state it's held in and the distance. Running or tri's are acceptable.

Terri

Kelly - My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Mel- Yes, that was me inquiring about chat. Wednesday evenings are best for me. :goodvibes

Hi all!

DId 5 miles yesterday. 1 mile shorter than last week. 10 degrees cooler. SHoould have been great. :( Stomach issues, and liekly lack of hydration as I fueled with coffee a lot last week, and it was a stonker. WOrse pace than last week! Grrrr.

I was doing some calculations in my head. We were a 5:10 last year. We want to break 5 this year. SOunds liek nothing, except when you realize that's almost 30 seconds a mile. Plus, I'm slower this year than last. How did that happen???? Time to start getting my butt serisouly in gear!

Paul - Sounds like you're close to our pace. If I can ramp up again, you can run with us. At the rate I'm goin, though, you'll leave me in the dust, like i'm sure dh wants to.

Glad so many have their shirts. If there are problems with the shipments, please let me know. I was gettign kind of tired towards teh end.

Have a grat weeke everyone. I'll try to do a better catch up later.

Good weekend for some things, not so good a weekend for others.

First, the good things: Got the WISH shirts in the mail and I am very impressed. Good job to everyone who helped make that a success.

Second, got the DL packets in the mail! Yesterday was a good mail day, except the power bill came in the mail too! (can't win them all, right?)

Third, mapped out my workouts until the Goofy. I am going to attempt to follow Higdon's Intermediate II schedule. There will be some modifications, such as a 1/2 marathon on a regularly scheduled 11 mile day and switching the Wednesday runs for Thursday runs. This way I can still do my usual speedwork on Wednesdays. If I am unable to maintain the training for the Intermediate II, then I will drop to the Intermediate I. I like that it has the back-to-back long runs pretty much the entire program.

The bad part of the weekend was my workouts. I woke up yesterday morning at 5:00 am for my 15 miler, and it was pouring rain and thundering. I decided not to go out in that! So I thought I would try it again...same thing this morning. Someone forgot to tell the weatherman that I live in the DESERT! I'll try to get something in today, but it won't be anywhere near 15! I rationalized it to myself saying that my Goofy program does not start for another month, and I think I am still ok for the DL 1/2.

Kelly...PD for Matt. Here's hoping he recovers quickly.

Marathons I would love to do include NYC, Chicago, and Vegas (running down the strip!)

I've been having lots of dreams lately that I am competing in Triathalons. Pretty interesting, considering that I really don't swim all that much. (more doggie-paddle than anything). I guess some of you are rubbing off on me!

Happy training all.

Paul

Kelley - tons of prayers & PD for your nephew Matt! :wizard: A friend of mine had an ordeal with her almost 2 year old & a burst appendix, so I can understand how scary this is. At first the doctors (even the surgeon) refused to consider that the problem this toddler was having was her appendix. They finally removed it! Then she had all sorts of complications and kept having stays st Boston's Children's Hospital. Long story short - she is perfectly fine now! Hang in there, these little guys are so resilient!

Ok, quickie post - did my mock 5k race today:

11:55
12:08
12:56
1:10
38:10

I did some more running than my usual w4/r1 - I just ran more whehn I felt like I could. That first mile was the fastest mile I ever have done.

I will catch up more tomorrow at work now that things have settled down more around home.

Terri--I'm thinking of you right now, watching the Eagles play in preseason. I'm so excited the season is finally here. ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL!!!!!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Quick delurk-

Happy belated B-day Cam!
PD for Sunny, Dana, Kristi's loss, Kelly's nephew and others who need it... :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Dave- no, I didn't do Ironman Lake Placid this year. Next up for me Ironman wise is Wisconsin(Madison) Sept 10th.

NH races for those looking- running Big Lake Half Marathon in May, triathlons either Mooseman(oly or HIM) in June or Timberman(sprint or 70.3) in Aug: all are endorfun sports events and Keith Jordan puts on awesome events. I've done Big Lake and Mooseman HIM so far this year and will do Timberman 70.3 in 2 weeks.

Did a big training weekend this weekend. Major confidence boost for IM Moo which is 5 weeks from now. It's not so much about being able to do the distance as whether some time goals I've set for myself are realistic. Rode 117.3 miles on Saturday in the Adirondack Mtns and then ran 18.2 miles on the Ironman Lake Placid course today w/ Mom providing a moving aid station on her bike. Did it over 10 minutes faster for an extra 0.3 miles than the 18 for this year's WDW marathon and that was after yesterday's 'short, little' ride. This coming weekend is a 80 mile bike and the longest run scheduled at 20 and then it's Timberman and taper. Told Mom that if triathlon brains are messed up, there must be a special brand of screwed up reserved for people who specialize in long distance triathlons. This is our idea of "fun"? Oh boy.

I found some other like-minded individuals:

50 States Marathon Club
P.O.Box 15638 Houston, TX 77220-5638 www.50statesmarathonclub.com

This web site provides information for the members of the 50 States Marathon Club. The club operates under the direction of a board of directors selected by the membership. The club is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of health and fitness and the members share the common goal of running a marathon in each of the fifty states.

To join, a runner must have completed a marathon in at least ten states.

Lily...Thanks for the sticky! :cloud9:

Krista...it's football season! :cheer2: :dance3: :cheer2:

ETA: Okay, y'all HAVE to come do this one:
Stumpy's Marathon
Read the whole race description...it's hysterical :lmao:
Cam, Howard...if I'd known y'all were so much fun, I'd have moved to Delaware a long time ago :teeth:

Ya know...I never thought about it taking so long. I guess at that rate, I'll be 62ish :rotfl:
