Hello everyone!

For those new to us, we are a group of people who are planning to participate in walking/running events throughout the year. For most of us, the ultimate goal is to train and compete in the annual WDW Half/Full marathons. We'll also be posting news and training for various other events throughout the year. We range from beginners to triathletes. Come join us, whether you're training for an event or walking/running for fitness!

New WISH Team members. If you read one thing over and over, believe this. Being part of this team is fantastic. Part of the ride you get for the event is what I call the roller coaster. There will be lots of ups and downs. The more you post here, the more you will find yourself enjoying the ride. It is an incredible journey. Don't be afraid, shy or whatever to come here and just post up anything. You don't have to know us right away, or all of us at all. You will get to know some of us. It makes the event you are enjoying have MORE meaning and we love to have you.

Good luck to all the DL racers!

We may not get a lot of training this weekend. Edges of Gustav are pretty much covering the state so we'll have a rainy weekend. May not get a lot of training in the next couple days. Hope none of you are in the landing path.

Thanks for the awesome photos, Jeff! Looks like everyone's having a great time.

Quickie post since my dad's laptop is possessed and loses posts on me...

Just got 6 miles done up at the lake.
Didn't break nay land speed records, but it's done. :yay:

Thinking of all our DL WISHers this morning! :cheer2:

Great photos, Jeff! While out walking this a.m. I was thinking of our DL 1/2 WISH'ers. Go everyone!
BTW, saw this in the Detroit Free Press travel section this morning (which consists pretty much entirely of generic AP stories--boy has this newspaper disintegrated over the last 10 years or so) deekaypee Debra--this is for you!

"Connecticut opens ice cream trail
You've heard of winery trails and biking trails and birding trails. But how about an ice cream trail?

Eastern Connecticut has created an official ice cream trail to guide visitors to the best spots for locally produced and often homemade ice cream.

A brochure, "Follow the Ice Cream Trail: Sundae Drives," lists 35 places to get your scoops, cones, shakes, rainbow sprinkles and hot fudge sauce. It is available online at http://www.mysticcountry.com/"

Hi! I got out this morning and logged the following:

10 Miles in 1:31:16 for an overall pace of 9:07. My splits: 9:07, 9:05, 8:45, 8:42, 9:20, 9:07, 9:10, 9:07, 9:34, and 9:20.

I am happy with my results given my lack of running this past week. The last time I did ANYTHING fitness related was one week ago today.

Have a very happy and enjoyable Sunday and Labor Day tomorrow!

:grouphug:

Great pictures Jeff, wish I was there.

Logged 73.1 miles last week, average pace 8:45, average HR 138. Max HR 184.

Had a good workout this morning. It was hot and 95% humidity. 2 miles easy then 3 miles at Tempo pace (7:00 mpm) then 60 mins easy. Ended up running 12.8 miles, avg pace 8:11, avg HR 150.

Have a great week everyone!!!

David

Thanks for the photos Jeff. Looks like the 5k was fun. Can't wait to hear/see about the 1/2.

Howard - Wow on your distance and time with little activity this week.

David - also WOW on your distance and time. That is awsome that you have so many miles logged.

As for me I went out yesterday morning with my marathon training group. Not to many showed up for the 6 AM start (some had come early and started at the 5:30 start time) but alot must have been scared away by the storm we had early in the morning. It was the very top band of Gustav. Luckly by the time of the run it wasn't raining. The only bad thing (beside the humidity) was all the puddles. So I start out and I notice my shin is bothering me, then my calves are killing me, then my arch on my left foot hurts when I am running. I had 8 miles planned but in the back of my head I wanted to go 9 miles. So I end up going the 9 miles walking alot because of my foot. I end up doing it in 2 hours - and my foot was still killing me after I was done so the shoes came off immediately when I got in my truck. Now I must say that I knew my shoes were shot and I needed a new pair but I didn't want to spend the money yet. Let me tell you its not worth it to keep going with dead shoes. I ended up getting the same exact shoes (Asics Kayano 14) and the new ones felt like putting on a cloud!! I also ended up getting a 4 bottle fuel belt and a ball to massage my foot. I am all set for tomorrow - I am planning on going early in the morning and do 4 miles.

Quick run by...

I completed the half in 2:02.17. I just missed my PR by about two minutes. Thunder Matt and I started together, and he blew by me around mile 11 to the finish. I just couldn't match his pace at the end.

I didn't take a lot of photos during the race, just a couple before and after. So there isn't a mile by mile photo essay this year.

All the WISH team had a great time. Some had to rush off soon after the race ended, some heading back home already. Others just wanted to get out of the heat and humidity.

It was overcast and cool for most of the race. About the 3 hour mark, the sun broke through, and made it pretty hot. Unfortunately I did see a few people passed out, and even one lady taken away by ambulance just outside the esplanade near Harbor Blvd.

Had a great time, and I'll be back later with a few photos.

Farewell to all the WISH team, Disneyrunning.com, and Disney Dead members. It was great meeting you all, and please have safe travels back to your homes. Especially those of you who live between Texas and Florida. I hope you're all spared from the hurricane's path.

Hi, All! I'm here!

Bronchitis ruined most of my August (my birthday, 08-08-08, which I've waited my whole life for, was spent with a high fever lying on the sofa feeling sorry for myself) and then I remembered I had a graduate paper to write....

Anyway, I go back to school Tuesday, and I'm back with a vengeance! woohoo!

I'm so proud of all the WISHers. Liz (TwoWDWFools) and Pat stopped by on the their way home to Chicago today. We made a trip to Island Beach State Park with a longish sandy walk and then walked the boards, where we had waffle ice cream sundaes (peanut butter caramel cookie dough ice cream, Deb!). So wonderful to see my WISH friends. We thought of you doing the Half in DL today.

Woohoo to the DL-half wishers!

Sending good thoughts to our gulf coast friends.

Tomorrow is the mad scramble to get ready for Tuesday (!). Kids don't show up until Thursday, though, so a built-in breather to get ready.

Jeff: Nice bling! Thanks for posting all the pics. It's nice to "be there" with y'all. I never realized Mrs.I was so tall...guess she's out on my characters-to-be list!

Mel: Well we got a little bit of Fay, so we figured we'd share some of Gustav!

Kristi: Good job getting it in!

Maura: Mmm I can see a wish trip in the making....running from one stand to the next!

Tricia:Ooooo new toys! Have fun on the run!

:boat: :umbrella: :fish:

I got my run in yesterday and I have another scheduled tomorrow so cross your fingers the storm is passed. Actually, I probably could have gotten in a short run today, as is, I just went on a walk before the rain started up again. I have plenty of readings and classwork already so I'm not complaining about only having class on Thursday :) So far we've had some pretty stiff winds and bursts of heavy rain, but it should increase during the day. I've decided to learn belly dancing as long as we have power....I'd like to make this a productive storm  .

Safe travels to DLers.

Jeff, Lovin' the pictures. Looks like everyone had a great race and a good time. How bad was the heat?

Anyone along the gulf coast, please stay safe. While Gustav may not have been as bad as it could've been for New Orleans any hurricaine is a serious issue.

As for me, I back at school (Wellesley College) and got my first post-move in run in this morning 3.5 miles in 30 minutes. Not to bad for basically taking a week off.

Best,
Jennifer

Jeff - the pics looked great!

Jennifer - Good Luck in school!

Hope everyone in Gustav/Hannah's paths stay safe.

I trained today!!!! WooHoo. I'm still trying to find a training plan I like and can stick with. Picked up a book the other day and started the plan today. It feels promising. For this week, I r2/w2 for 7 sets. Do this 4x week and on other days cross train. Next week it bumps up to r4/w2 and the 3rd week
r6/w2. That will put me at the Philly Distance Run, so I'll try out the r6/w2 and see how it goes. I just want something that'll get me into longer running sets w/o leaving me totally spent and frustrated. I'll see how it goes. And since my busy time at work is over, I shouldn't have any issues making time for workouts.

Terri

Congrats to you DL runners!

Duckie, hope you are feeling better and that September is a healthier month for you!

I started my training this week. I'm using the M2M Run/Walk training for the Half. I am just going to do week one this month each week and then in October move on to two. I think when I counted it out it should start around the first or second week of October. I ran yesterday, today is crosstraining. I'll be doing some yoga and strength training tonight.

Have a nice rest of the day everyone!

Allyson

Hello!
I just wanted to introduce myself. I am new to the forum. Just signed up for the Princess 1/2. I must be crazy! This will be my first race ever (no 5Ks even!!). I decided that by signing up for the race I would be committed to doing it. And I thought that there is no better place to run my first race that WDW. I look forward to being a part of this group.
Jen
