Good luck and keep in touch to let us know how your doing!!

Had a good time in California hanging with my Fam (Aunt, Uncle and Cousin), seeing Hollywood, LA, Laguna Beach, Seal Beach, Disneyland and California Adventure, oh and participating in the Disneyland Half Marathon.

Special shout-outs to my CCI buddies - Susie, Pat and Jim. Was great being able to have our rooms together!!
A Shout-out to Lynn who was my buddy at the begining of the race.
Shout-out to Michelle who we caught up to around the middle of the race, you gave me a goal to catch up to you!!
Shout-out to Jim who passed me early on after exiting DL and gave me a goal to get up to you before the end of the race. Thanks for the company!!
Shout-out to JEFF!! ALoha Jeff!! You were a gracious host for the MEET and fun to be around.
It was great getting to meet and see everyone.

Still trying to get rid of my "feels like I'm still flying" feeling and can't turn my head to fast or I get very disorientated and dizzy. Hoping that will go away by tomorrow. (Weird, didn't have that problem when I on the way over to CA.)

I have my Race Report done with some photos.

Have a good evening everyone.
Tracy

Glad to see our DLers coming back!

Yesterday was crazy! About 1pm we lost power, at about 2 the winds got high enough we had to "shelter in place" in the hall for three hours. Winds here were 90 mph sustained and gusts well above. We had a window in the lobby blow out and lots of trees down but everything looks okay. We got power back at noon today. Very welcome as it is very humid!

I woke up this morning and my calves were soooo sore from yesterday's belly dancing. I did get in a short jog before it started raining again though!

Happy training!

Welcome black DLers! I am so jealous of teh coast to coast bling and your meets too!

Thansk to Jeff for the pix!!!!

twinmmickeys - We don't think you're crazzy. We completely understand. Do you havea training plan. Many here highly recommend John Bingham's Marathonign for Mortals. Looking forward to eharign about your training journey.

Terri - WOo hoo for training!

Claire - Glad you are safe!!!

Maura - Thanks fro the laughs you posted last week. Hope that plan keeps working fo ryou!

Tricia - OMG, I jsut got new shoes too. DIdn't realize how bad mine were until I tired onteh new ones. SO lucky I did not do any damage. You are right about it not being worth it to wait.

DAvid - COngrats on a great week.

Ugh, where did I leave off? No idea. Did a 30 mile bike ride Thursday. * mile run Sat, 5 mile walk Mon. Trying ot go easy this week until our tri on Saturday.

A quick post before work.

Now that the rains have subsided and the heat might be considered a little better, training is following suit. I got out Sunday for a few bike rides and then was able to run on Monday. It felt good but was still too humid for decent times. Seeing that the Saturday run was shortened because of me getting too hot, I was happy to get out.

Howard - Those are great splits. Training seems to have a positive result with you.

Carrie - Great job on the bike ride. Good luck on the tri this weekend. I hope you have a great time.

lilouisianagal - Glad you made it through the storm and it wasn't as bad as it could have been. You are lucky to get power back so soon, we had to wait a few weeks to get our back after the storms hit us a few years ago. Not fun when it is hot outside.

Tracy - Glad to see you made it back and had a great time at DL. We have to go back sometime to let Lynnda get the medal and now they are adding extra medals with it. Hope you are faring well with all the new storms out there.

twinmickeys Jen - Welcome. Congrats for signing up for the race. Feel free to ask questions and there should be someone here who can answer them for you.

Allyson - I wish you luck on your training plan.

Terri - Glad things are calming down for you. Hope you can find a plan you like that will get you to your goals for Philly.

Hawaii Jeff - Love the pictures. Glad you had fun at DL and it was a productive race. Hope you have a safe trip back.

Tricia - Glad the rain subsided by running time and you were able to stay somewhat dry. Hope the new shoes will solve some of the pain problems.

Mel - Glad you didn't get too many of the rain bands from Gustov. You seem to be avoiding everything quite nicely this year.

Have a great day everyone.

Bill

twinmickeys Jen- Welcome!

Terri- Thanks for wishing me luck!

Yesterday was the first day of classes and they went well. I got up and did 4.25 in 35 minutes this morning. It was nice not to have to get up at dawn to beat the heat.

Best,
Jennifer

Jennifer - WTG on getting your work out in with class starting!

Did 7.7 on the bike yesterday. It was a to/from dinner route. Our cop out when we're tired. No one has to cook adn it's 2 easy rides, but at least we get out and move. Funny, with our new bikes, a leisurely ride was 2 mph faster than a fast ride with our old bikes. :-p

Got in 4 miles tonight with Mom. We didn't break any speed records (thanks to me). BUT, we got 'em done! :thumbsup2 I was just so tired with nothing in the tank tonight. Mom threatened to hook a bungee cord to me & drag me faster!

I promise to be faster tomorrow! ;)

(I am trying hard not to let my computer suck the life out of me, so forgive me for not catching up with everyone. I do read about all of you & love hearing your training & accomplishments!)

I went out for a 3.5 mile recovery run yesterday afternoon. Running a half, then sitting on a plane for 5 1/2 hours really lets the lactic acid build up in the muscles. LOL.

Will get back at it tomorrow afternoon with my usual 9.5-10 miles. 18 on the slate this month for Sunday runs.

Bill~ Thanks for the kind words. I think our running is closely matched. I ran near you most of the time last January (ahead, behind, next to, etc.).

I went out tonight and dogged it a bit. :rolleyes1

Miles: 8.01
Time: 1:09:39
Pace: 8:41

Splits:
8:25
8:36
8:51
9:11
8:28
8:41
8:32
8:49

At almost the 2.75 mile mark I felt a twinge of pain coming on with the Hip Flexor so I stopped cold and stretched a bit. I decided to keep running and stretch it at each mile until it felt better. It did and I finished well.

Tomorrow I have only 4 miles on the schedule. I am looking forward to that!

Have a great night everyone!

Hey all, Haven't done much since getting home. Kinda the same story as Jeff said, I got on a plane the same day as the Half for 5 hour flight home. Now, dealing with a slight cold/allergy thing. Will get out there tomorrow for a walk. I have a dental cleaning tomorrow, no big deal (it's in my line of work.)

Later all WISHers!!

Racey Tracy

Hey everyone. I am so ON this week. I did 3 miles on Sunday, 6 miles bike on Monday, 2.17 miles with core work on the ball yesterday, today I did core work on the ball. It feels good to be back on track. I am doing a 5K on Saturday (pray for no rain!!)

Thanks for all the DL pics. I LOVED THEM. I have a friend that lives close to DL, actually she lives close to Knotts Berry Farms which is close to DL. I have gotten her to start wogging... now she says I have to come out to do the DL 1/2 with her. Ughhh, if only it wasn't on Labor Day Weekend. Schools start here at that time and it's hard to get away.

Welcome Back DL-ers! Glad you all had a great time. The bling looks awesome!

Welcome Jen (twinMickeys). I decided to do my first road race in a very long time at WDW, too. I picked the Goofy. I decided if I was ever going to get started, the 1st ever Goofy medal would make it happen.

It's been two days on my new training program and at least I'm consistent. On Monday I did w2/r2 for 7 sets, with a 2 min. cooldown walk and finished
2.29 miles in 30 min. Today I did the same sets and finished 2.30 miles in 30 min. So far, so good.

Terri

Hi all!!!

Just a quickie from me....

Congrats to all the DLers... I'm totally jealous. Someday I'll get out there and run that one too...

Jen-- :welcome: This place is incredible... some of us have been around here a LONG while so any questions you might have, just ask!! :thumbsup2 Lots of encouragement and success around these parts.. glad to have you aboard...

As for me, I "officially" started Goofy training this morning... 3 miles in 29:090... not too bad fr 80 degrees at 5am, but it still feels like I'm dogging it a bit... Just have to get in the steps till my fitness improves...

Happy training all!

Kevin: Are you planning on doing any local races?? Just wondering.

Tracy

Hi Everyone!

Pretty good week for me, I've gotten all my C25K runs in and have done pilates and crunches.

Tracy Are you getting worried about Ike yet?

AmyKab: Just a bit, need to wait another day or two to see exactly where it might be headed right now the "cone of death" is so wide!! Ugh!

Kevin: Are you planning on doing any local races?? Just wondering.

Tracy

Tracy,

I really really really really really want to do some local races... but I can't seem to find any.... any ideas on where to look?? I was considering running the A1A half in February to try and PR, but it's on my official "old man" birthday and I'm not sure about the course (since I drive it to work every day...)

If you could point me to where I can find a few local races, I would GREATLY appreciate it....

Kevin :earsboy:
