Wk Of Aug 26 - WISH Walking/Running Club

Yes, I am with you, I am definitely missing Sunny and Anne and Melissa and Sara and Colleen and so many of our WISH teammates. I definitely understand how life/kids/work, etc. take over! :headache: :guilty: :sad1: :scared:
You know I love, love, love you Cam] !! Colleen and I are over on the MCM training thread. Living the manic life myself it is mentally exhausting keeping up on this thread:confused: . I do try to lurk here but find myself too lost to post. I can't do the "all about me" post. Howard found us over on the MCM thread:thumbsup2 . Glad to hear you guys are all doing so well:grouphug: .
I am counting down the days til my WDW trip 9/22-10/1. Southwest opened up their schedule through March if anyone needs flights back from marathon weekend:woohoo: .

Happy training, racing to all this weekend:cheer2: .

Happy Labor Day:banana: !!

Ok, I need to fess up....Chad does at least half of the laundry. :laundy:
He just likes to fold it & leave it all over the living room, cuz I am sleeping. Problem with this you ask? He NEVER puts it away! I can leave a pile on the end table in the living room for days & days - just to see if it ever moves - and it doesn't!

Ok, enough of that....

Judy - yes, I am horrible. I will call the person at Disney sports now....

Cam - I don't care what you say, like Judy said, reading your posts makes me tired!

No allergy shots for me today - can't give them to you with a fever.

Does anyone know if an ipod (the original one - forget what it is called) and the ipod shuffle use the same software? I am thinking about running to the store tonight to get a shuffle and then using my sister's software (she has the original one) since she already has tons of music uploaded on her computer.

I decided not to use a babysitter for the DL half on monday - it weirded me out too much. So DH graciously volunteered to sit this one out and watch the children while I run alone. So now that I am running alone I am thinking about getting the ipod shuffle. Anyone know how hard it is to program? I leave for CA on saturday.

If I remember right, we will have about 16 more weeks of summer, 1-2 weeks of fall, then 1-2 weeks of winter, then maybe 2 weeks of spring if lucky, then back to summer.

Ain't that the truth! :lmao:

Beth and Becky: Good luck with your events this weekend!

Cam: Please take care of yourself.

Judy: Tenafly....the Jersey burbs. Just over the GW bridge and about 5 minutes north. We left there and moved to NC in '99, but I still have 2 sisters in NY (da Bronx and Albany) and my son lives in Brooklyn. I am such a New Yorker at heart. We try to visit a few times during the year and catch up on all the new B'way shows. We'll have to swap celeb stories......I have a ton!

Wow! I am amazed at what a properly running A/C can do!

It is the heat of the day---they turned it on at 4pm  .

The starting temp was 86 degrees. In less than 2.5 hours it has brought it down to 83 degrees.

It used to take the dinosaur---well...it couldn't manage that between noon and 7pm. Then when it could finally be effective, it would take about 3 or 4 hours to make it go down 1 degree.

So yeah to the new A/C!!!:woohoo: :woohoo:

Don't think I'm gonna catch up on 11 pages of posts this week. Just back from BWV. Had a great time. It was hot! (visions of 2007 marathon weekend).

Tried to hit the hotspots of each park and did the P&P Party.
Woke up this morning and did 3 1/2 miles in 52 minutes, not too bad since the last 3/4 mile was uphill (still ahead of the sweepers!)

Hope everyone's training is going well!

Terri

Jackie, it's too bad you will miss your 5K, but good news about the marathon! Did you hear that my boyfriend (Helio - as if you could forget ;) ) is going to be on Dancing With the Stars. :cool1: My oldest absolutely LOVES that show and now I'll have a reason to watch, too. Tell Annie that her heart may belong to Marco, but in the off season she should support any IndyCar driver who brings much needed publicity to our series.

Annie ADORES Dancing with the Stars, but had completely forgotten to check the lineup of stars for this season. What a squeal just came out in our house! DH is completely baffled - he does NOT get it! She said to tell you Helio is her 3rd favorite (behind Marco & Kanaan), so she will definitely be pulling for him. (Dario was moving up in rank until he made disparaging comments against Marco & Michael after last weekend's race!)

Jen - My PF got mad at me after every run when I got back from WDW. It's just now beginning to forgive me (which is good since the bursitis is in the other foot - I need at least one halfway good foot!)

Moon - Try using Body Glide on the area around the waistband. That may help with the rash.

No training at all! Set the clock to get up and do upper body weights this morning, but just decided to take the entire week off. Saturday I'll probably try the bike to make up for the LR I'm missing...

Can only do a drive by as I am trying to finish getting ready for our trip out of town this weekend. We are going to the lower Keys so my dh can finish painting at his boss' house. But its nothing luxorious since we have to bring EVERYTHING with us and its not a PARTY :cool1: kind of place its a :cool1: quiet do nothing at night place!! I am not going to have internet for the whole weekend so it probably will kill me!! LOL I am bringing a small TV and antenna (so no satellite with TIVO either) basically its going to be camping but indoors. I still haven't had a real chance to get some running in so maybe I can do some running while down there. I mapped out some runs/walks so we will see what happens!!

Hope everyone has a wonderful, safe holiday. Good luck to those with races. "See" everyone Monday or Tuesday.

Wow sorry guys I haven't been keeping up with the posts, I've been so busy with all the homeowners coming up for Labor Day. DH and I have been running around the building, inside & out, making the place perfect! Also I been doing my fundraising for TNT and getting Members Appreciation Week organized at work.....

I did manage to walk 7 miles on Wednesday and been nursing my PF ever since....the ole' golfball rolling under the foot does the trick. Have a safe and happy Labor Day weekend TEAM:goodvibes

Yikes, so far behind this week so just a drive by.

I have gotten in all my training....feelin good.

Big new....I got new running shoes!!!! I really liked the ones I had but they must be a discontinued model cause I couldn't find them so I have bought saucony excursion 2. Don't know much about them but wow they where confortable. I have a hard time breaking in shoes so I will slowly break these in and get them ready for Jan. The ones I have will be great for my 1/2 in Sept.

Have a great weekend all.

Kim

Just a quick drive by to WISH everyone a great holiday weekend. Hope the weather cools off for all of us.

Happy training, all!

Steve

Becky - I took us off the waitlist. We're still at SSR. I booked another trip for the last week our AP is good so I had to use those points and then some. If the waitlist for BCV or BWV came thru I wouldn't have the points for it. :lmao:

Are you getting excited?

Yes!! Are you? How are you planning on getting to the start? Do you want to share a cab? We will be at SSR too ;)

Thank you Steve your wish worked, our temp is down for at least the next week and hopefully the heat wave is over.

Good morning WISH Warriors.

How is everyone's first week of marathon training going? It feels good to have the goal ahead again. I can't wait to have our ToT and then our Goofy adventure.

The Goofy still seems pretty huge. Lots of respect for those who have taken on the challange in the past. I can't even begin to know what that must feel like. The marathon has been mine and Erica's longest distance. Once we do get the Goofy behind us and it becomes an annual event, we might look at an ultra challange. But Goofy first.

How is everyone's aches and pains today, feeling better?

Remember you will only get one chance to live today, do something that makes you happy, even if it's just giving someone you love extra hugs.

Not too much going on for me, got in 3.21 on Tuesday, but yesterday only just over a mile (we had violent thunder and lightning and lost power for a bit)

I do have a question though, right above my ankle has been really sore, feels like the muscle is pulling and gets really hot. I thought I might not be warming up enough, when I am ready to go, I need to go, or might lose my motivation, so I tried doing more stretching to warm up the last two times, but the pain still shows up about about 10 minutes after I start walking. Any ideas what I'm doing to cause this? Or to prevent it?

Also, can anyone tell me about BioFreeze? I've read about it in a few magazines, but am not really sure what it is/used for? I think it's similar to BenGay or IcyHot, but one article said to use it before running, so I'm not sure?

Thanks guys! Hope everyone has a GREAT weekend!

Angie ~ Hi, I have limited knowledge of BioFreeze, but what I do know is that it was really helpful during the Marathon portion of the Goofy last year, at least for me. The medical tents had volunteers at the side of the road with huge pump bottles giving it out to anyone who needed it. I needed it for my leg/calf muscles that were tight and sore/achy. It went on super cool and then some how, almost magically :wizard: , made them feel better. I am sure it works on the same principle as icyhot but it is better in my opinion. I didn't see it being distributed/offered at every aid station, so I wouldn't count on getting it at each one. I remember it helping Kevin (Kevin Z) and I during the marathon. I am not sure if Lynne needed any, she was doing better than Kevin and I at those points in the race.

Yes, I do the :laundy: . When Cam started working at law firms, almost all of her clothes needed to be sent to the drycleaners. So, if I wanted any clean clothes for work, etc. I had to do them.... it caught on and low these (almost 23 years later) I am still taking care of it. No biggy. :thumbsup2

My classes (so far) seem like they will be somewhat enjoyable but challenging. Due to the way the dates fall, my Monday class doesn't actually meet until September 10.

Happy training everyone!

Angie--I tried BioFreeze for the first time the other night. Got a sample in a race goody bag. I had been having some hamstring pain, so I thought what the heck, I'd try it out. I "guess" it relieved my pain, all I noticed was the super cold feeling it left behind--traded one uncomfortable feeling for another;) It didn't smell as bad as bengay. I'd probably try it again, but honestly, I think I ice would work just as well.

No training to report from me for the past 2 days--LTO. Anyway, hoping to get 14 in on Sunday before work. We'll see how that goes, time wise--might end up being a speed workout!;) Gotta run, kidlets need me!

Work is showing no signs of slowing down, so another total drive by post for me.

Monday was 6 mi in 1:06:39 (11:07/mi)
Tuesday was a stability ball workout at boot camp.
Wednesday was a hilly group run of 4.54 mi in 48:27 (10:40/mi). Splits were 11:31/11:08/11:04/9:54/9:04 (for 0.54 mi)
Thursday was speed intervals with boot camp.
Today is a rest day, and tomorrow I have 14 miles on tap - my longest run ever so far. I'm meeting up with the group and running partway with them since some are going longer, some are going shorter. I thought I could use some company.

Have a great long weekend everyone!

All righty then! JIC anyone wants to see how my traininging and mini LR was this week, I am posting it. WISH I had time to catch up, but not today Zurg!;)

Anyway!
I told you about my LBR (Long Bike Ride) I am supposed to do this weekend. Well I just cannot see my DH and DDs allowining me to be gone on a bike for that long so this is my insane plan!

Yesterday (Thursday) I cycled 35+ miles on the paved greenways and roads of Charlotte.
Today I ran 10 miles (will get to that below)
Tomorrow (Saturday) I plan to bike another 35-45 miles and see if I can rope my sis into it with me, so if we get lost, at least we will be together.:)

My LR today!
Was a bit cooler (80s) so I was really excited! I only did 10 today, so I knew I would be finished in at least 90 min. Here is round about the break down in milles.
1 - 8:20
2 - 8:20
3 - 8:00 - it was up a BFH, but a woman came up behind me and was trying to "race", so I had to "kick it in".:rolleyes1 But I don't like competition!:lmao:
4 - 8:10
5 through 10 I am not sure of where the miles are so I won't post those.
I finished in 1:24 (but did not stop the watch for traffic every time and I think I did a little over 10 miles...like 10.2 or something). But whatever....I ended up with an ave 8:24 MPM...so I must have slowed a bit at the end (up East Blvd.) I could tell in the last 2 miles that I had biked the day b/4, but all in all, it was a wonderful run.

Later team!

Sara – So nice to see you, sweetie! Sorry I hadn’t thought to check the MCM thread to catch up on our WISH teammates doing that race. I am so glad to know you are still here! And thank you for the heads’ up on SWA – I got a good price for Tuesday after the marathon for Howard, Jenn and me. :woohoo: I had totally forgotten to tend to the detail of a flight home. :confused3

Stephanie – LOVE the new picture!

Lisa – :woohoo: for new AC!!! So, no hotel last night?

Leana and Christa -- awesome workouts!! :thumbsup2

Christa -- please give Bree a hug for me when you see her!

Life and work are still busy here. We have our final meeting with the kitchen designer tonight with demolition to start 9/10. Sure, Howard goes off to class and I go home to a “demolished” kitchen!! LOL!!!

Hoping to get in some miles this weekend, since we are unexpectedly home part of the day tomorrow and Monday. I bought a cloth covered resistance band last night and have added some lower body strengthening exercises to my push-up/crunch regimen. At least it keeps me doing something even when I don’t have time to get to the gym or outside.

I am soooo excited at the prospect of meeting Nancy tomorrow, if she has time. How cool is that? :)

Sorry for all I missed. So glad we can all gather here. :grouphug:

Have a great weekend everyone! And to everyone doing races – have an awesome time!
