Wk Of Aug 12 - WISH Walking/Running Club

Jen or anyone else going to WDW soon -

Could I trouble someone to pick up a park map from each of the four parks for me? I am more than happy to pay for postage.

Meghan - We are leaving on Saturday and I will try to get you some park maps, and keep them from getting mangled. PM me your address and I can mail them when I get back. I would like a new set for myself, so I will just grab 2 while I am at it!

SWDave - We didn't get free dining, but we got a discounted package. We are also staying at POP for the first time, so it is a budget trip. The discounted dining made it even more worth it. Seriously, we are paying less for the room, dining and tickets than what we paid for WL only marathon weekend. Can't beat that!!!!

Afternoon teammates! Yesterday was a rest day for me and today got in an 8 miler (1:13). A minute slower than last week--but was having a really hard time getting going. The first mile was torture, but then after 10 minutes or so I got into my grove. Then it was errand/shopping xtraining. It's amazing what you have to go through for preschool--you'd think DD was starting college!;)

Now, I"m gonna try to squeeze in a catnap before we head back out to Target this afternoon. It never ends! Have a great afternoon all! Sorry for the drive-by!

Good afternoon everyone!

Have to post a work because we’re having cable issues at the house. No Internet (that's just wrong). :sad2:

2.5 miles on the TM again last night. No major issues to report.

Shan – Over 200 miles on the shoes. Cool!

Megan – WTG with the 2 miler.

Disneyluv - :welcome:

Cam and Howard – Congrats on the 5K!

MSDave – WTG with the 6 miler. Have fun with the DDs tonight.

Renee – Have fun on your TM run this evening.

Krista – WTG with the 7 miler!

Nancy – WTG with the training!

Beth – WTG with the 4 miler. Have a good training class tonight.

Jen – Take care.

Leana – Great pace. Sorry to hear about the “friction burns.”

Lily!

Rachel – Keep up the great training!

Stephanie – WTG with the 8 miler!

I have framed park maps hanging in my DDs' bathroom and they look so great that I decided to do the same in my new office. I don't want to wait until January to get a set of maps and would really appreciate it if someone could send a set my way.

Don't forget, you can order personalized custom maps from the Disney website. I've did this twice, ( you can do it again after a certain amount of time) so that I can have one map of each, and I'm going to frame them. They are really beautiful!

Good evening WISHers! Just a little drive by:moped: Just an update on my day! I did manage 5 miles on the TM, 60 min pump class and 30 min low impact aerobics. The TM wasn't as bad as yesterday, and I got it done!

Beth

Good Evening Team

No training tonight, but ran 3 with Bobby again last night.

Beth & Nancy I am so jealous listening to you guys talking about your pump classes. I have taken pump at my gym for 3 1/2 years and it was the only thing -- including all the cardio-- that I found really made a difference in my body and the way I looked. I am the same as you Beth - hate the machines and the PUMP kicks your but. I had really built up to some good weight too, now leaving for work at 7 am and getting home at 6 pm, I have not found time to go, except Saturday mornings. I love that class.. So next time you guys go PUMP a little extra for me K??

Stephanie Awesome 8 miler, you are well past my PR at MINNIE!!! That darn potty break. I will have you know I felt really bad, cause I was going to wait for you guys but I was so afraid I would never be able to catch you. I'm really leaning towards the full this year, my back is getting better, but that sub 4, we were all talking about after MINNIE is a very lofty goal for me at this point, but not for you. Maybe you will still be there to cheer me on when you get done!! :dance3:

I almost forgot Jen we have stayed at almost every hotel at Disney, and we love the POP you will have a great time and please give Mickey a big hug for me I miss him.

I'm so sorry for everyone else I missed, it is very late and has been a very long day!!

Had a great 4 miler tonight, wasn't totally comfortable but I was pushing it a little bit for the second half because I was significantly less tired during the first half than I had been during previous 4 milers over the last few weeks. Last Thursday's my splits were 10:03, 10:12, 10:32, 11:06. As you can see fading throughout and a terrible run. This Thursday was 9:48, 9:48, 9:57, 9:36. Not only more steady, but obviously a bit faster. Last Saturday's tempo "pace" run on Sat avg'd 9:25, but I had been shooting for 9. Based on the improvement this week hoping to get closer to that. Last Sunday's 8 miler ended up 11:17 avg with loads of walking, hoping this Sunday's 9 miler gets back towards 10mpm running continuous.

As you can see high hopes! One exciting thing is I was looking forward to this Sunday and finishing the 9 miler because that would be a 21 mile week, my first 20+ week since doing 2 half marathons in one weekend way back in Feb! But then I realized based on last weekend's 4+8, and the two 4's Tue and tonight, I'm already at 20 for the last 7 days wrapped around between two weeks, yay. :yay:

Disneyland HM is creepin up!

Good Morning TEAM: :surfweb:

Last night I ran in the x-country races at our neighborhood park with the princesses, DD6 pooh: and DD9 princess:. Everyone seemed to have lower energy last night. DD6 pooh: really wanted to get out there and run, but DD9 princess: needed some convincing. They decided to run the 800 m race this time, and I ran with them. They did great. I ran the 5K (slightly longer than a 5k), and I was really happy with my race. I finished in 26:35 min/7:54 mpm. I considered it my tempo run for the week.

Cam- That is a great picture of you and your DD. You should be very, very proud. You're looking good too!

Rachael- You're having a great training week. Hope your walk went well last night. Did you have to use your poncho?

Jen- Whoo hooo on the package deal. You gotta let me know how you like POP. I'm thinking if we go back next year and try to get the free dining, that we might try a budget trip at a value resort.

Stephanie- Very nice 8 miler! You are right on pace for that 4 hour marathon. Looking good!

Vic- Nice job with your TM run. How's your foot holding up?

Beth- That is a great workout day. 5 miles on the TM plus the 90 min of x-training. Wow, you are in shape!

Angie- Hope everything is going well with you. Good for you for doing the 3 miles with your DS. How's your back these days?

Matt- Very nice 4 miler. WTG! Looks like your conditioning is coming back pretty quickly. Good luck with your 9 miler this weekend.

Good morning WISHers....it's the end of the week! And, what a killer week it was! Last night's pump class was more like boot camp. The trainer was into hurting us, and she did it well.:confused3 :confused3

The 5 miles I did was at 5.5 mph, but I figured out to make the class in time I had to speed up the last mile. I bumped the speed to 6.0 mph (10 min mile) for the last mile and it kicked my butt! I got all 5 miles in at 55:00 though. It was a good workout. Then, I figured out that it was the 'boot camp' pump class and I was sad :guilty: that I had pushed myself so hard on the treadmill. I looked like a drowned rat after class! And, I am sore this morning and not sure actually which one caused it!:confused3

Nancy.....how are you feeling? Sore? We had a good workout, though didn't we?

SWDave: I guess I may be fit, under all this fat! But, who would know?:rolleyes1

Angie: Nancy and I will think of you the next time the trainer is kicking out butt!

Beth

Beth--- Other than my shoulder, I don't feel sore yet. It probably be tomorrow during my LW that my legs start screaming at me.

Angie-- I noticed a difference when I didn't do pump class during the winter. I was so intense on just building up my walking endurance in preparation for my first half marathon in April, that I dropped doing all the classes at the gym from Jan until I completed that event. I also hate the machines so if I don't do the class their is no strength building done on my own. It is amazing how fast you lose what you gained when you don't keep at it. So I have made a committment to somehow get to those classes while training for the Mickey. So I will pump hard and think of you. Now if I could just give you some of the soreness. :rotfl2:

Rachel--- How was you walk in the rain with the poncho? Doesn't it get hot with that on?

Jen--- Have a great trip to WDW.

Stephanie--- Good job on 8 miles

Vic--- Good for you doing 2.5 on TM.

Stacey--- I didn't realize that about the custom maps. Thanks for the information.

Matt--- Good job on your 4 miler.

Dave--- How nice that you are able to race with your daughters.

Cam--- Nice picture of you and DD.

My training yesterday was 4 miles on elipical and pump class. I had to do my miles after class as I had to deal with WDW reservations before class to try to switch to the AP rate for ToT weekend. Of course after being on hold and then finally getting through being told the computer is down. So had to deal with them again after the gym. Was eventually successful to switch my reservation and get the $50 dining card. At least I hope I have the dining card as it is not listed on the reservation confirmation.

Hope everyone is having a great day.

Nancy

Cam- That is a great picture of you and your DD. You should be very, very proud. You're looking good too!

Cam--- Nice picture of you and DD.

Okay, Nancy and Dave -- this just had me torn between :lmao: and :sad1: The lovely "young" woman in the picture is my law partner, Jess, and I'd have had to have her when I was 6 for her to be my DD. ;) Thank you for the compliments, however!

Matt -- congrats on the mileage

Dave -- so glad you were able to get the girls out in the August heat. What troopers. I just saw that you were in DE last weekend. I guess you planned that specifically for when Howard and I were in Chicago, right? :rotfl: J/K. Hopefully, one of these trips will include a stop in North Wilmington.

I know I missed soo many people. I am so swamped at work and life is really crazy.

I am thinking so much of Sunny and hoping we'll hear from her soon.

Sunny -- sending you pixiedust:

Sorry to be such a slouch! I hope to catch up this weekend.

Happy Friday, everyone!

Good morning, team!! Happy Friday!!!!!!!!!! I am so glad it's the weekend, I'm meeting my college roommates in Columbus tomorrow for lunch. I'm excited to see them, but now I have to do my lr on Sunday afternoon. Last night I went to the gym for xt and lifting. I rode the bike for 30 minutes on the hill program, but I didn't have much hills, I must have set the bike for 60 minutes instead of 30, so I was just getting into the rolling hills when my 30 minutes were up. I guess I could have stayed and biked an extra 30 minutes, but after working all day and stopping at the gym on my way home, I just wanted to get home. Tonight I have 4 miles, again at gym as our treadmill is still broken (trying to get someone out to fix it) and tomorrow is my rest day.

Body Pump Girls--Can you explain to me exactly what body pump is like? We have the classes at Gold's, but I haven't been yet. I'd like to know what I'm getting myself into before I go, kwim?

Stephanie--Great 8 mile run!!!! I can't get over how fast you are!!!

Jen--Have a awesome in WDW!!!! Please try to forget everything that is going on at home and enjoy the time with your beautiful family.

Sorry this is a partial drive-by, I'll be back later.

Is that the girl who runs a half marathon every Saturday, but doesn't train at all during the week?

Is that the girl who runs a half marathon every Saturday, but doesn't train at all during the week?

Great memory, Krista. Yes and no. She does 13.1 every weekend (sometimes at high noon on Long Beach Island in the brutal sun  ) and tries to get to the gym for 3 miles on the TM 2 or 3 nights a week. She is also the person who recommended the architectural tour that we did.

Good morning everyone!

2.5 miles on the TM again last night. Nice to be back and able to train consistently again.
Now, it’s onwards and upwards with the mileage.

SWDave – Congrats with the 5K, and glad to hear the DDs had a good time. The foot is doing ok. The PF is still there. Guess I’m going to have to suck it up and deal with it.

Beth – WTG with the training!

Matt – WTG with the 4 miler.

Nancy – WTG with the training!

Krista – Have fun tomorrow.

:)

I'm so embarassed Cam. I was following Dave's lead I thought he knew she was your DD. I am terrible with looking at people and knowing their ages. I am hanging my head in shame. :guilty: You look great.

Krista--- If you hate using the weights and machines at the gym this is a great class. You work all the muscle groups. It is for strength building and toning. We do squats, luges, ab workouts, legs exercises, with the weights we work out shoulders, chest, triceps, biceps, back etc. Some classes use the big ball and slide gliders. You will see it listed at various gyms such as Define Yourself or Power Pump. They are all basically the same. I think it is a good total body workout and you have to working off some calories in the process.

Whoops, sorry about the mistake with the picture Cam. It doesn't take away from the fact that you still look great in it. Yes, I had the family in DE last weekend, and I was thinking of you and Howard. I was knew you all were in Chicago, and I was bummed. I'd love to meet up with you all sometime. Sometime...

Nancy and Dave -- you know I LOVE you guys!!!! I just had to rag on you about that. ;) Now, I can't figure out whether Jess looks about 25 or I look about 55! :lmao: Really, I didn't take it personally.

Dave -- we'll catch up with you the next time you are on this section of 95!

Okay, all this talk of pump classes, etc. has me really craving a structured workout and something on my schedule that will have me XT at least one night a week. I am off to check our YMCA website. The fitness center is closed next week for renovations, so I am going to look at doing a drop-in class or two. Thank you for motivating me when I am definitely not feeling it right now. Oh, and I am going to make a commitment here to get up tomorrow morning and Sunday morning and take my dog for a walk. She isn't very fit and I am thinking it would be so nice to spend this quality time together each morning. Of course, she isn't up to any of the great running that Krista and Christa's furbabies do, but I am thinking something is better than nothing, especially since my "other" little girl heads back to college today. Better spend quality time with the ones that are left, right? ;)

Happy Friday everyone!

I apologise that I haven't had a chance to respond to everyone individually this week. It has been a total LTO kind of time lately. Last night was boot camp and it involved a lot of running up and down stairs and oodles and oodles of push ups (I estimate about 200) leaning against the railing of the stairs. My arms are so tired and the soreness has started creeping in... Today is a rest day (which I feel like I really need now!), tomorrow is a 10 mile run.

I am one confirmed flight away from having a big trip sorted out over Christmas and New Years. It will be interesting to see how the travel, holiday and time change affect my taper for the Goofy. Providing things work out I'll be in Singapore for Christmas and Perth, Australia for New Years. There will be plenty of opportunity for beach running in Australia, and I think I'll be able to run up and down the main shopping drag along the sidewalk in Singapore, so it should work out. I'll come home, go back to work for a few days, then turn around and head to WDW. All of this travel so early in the year may impact my racing schedule for next year since I'll be using up so much vacation time. I'm still hoping to do a Minnie/Princess run if they decide to put one on though!

Well everyone. I just got done with my LR for the week. I had to run it today intead of Saturday, because of football. Michael's and NFL!! So today I ran 9 miles this morning in 1:23:13. I ran the first 6 miles in 57:00 avg 9:30mpm. Then the last 3 I ran in 26:16 avg 8:44 mpm!! That put me at 19 miles this week, which means next week marks my first 20 mile week since training for Disney last year. I getting excited!!

Kristi - I can't wait until my youngest starts preschool. Just a little bit of quiet during the day would be nice. Then again, I may just be stressed with the end of summer getting here my 2 are driving me INSANE!!

Jen - Have fun in Ohio!!

Leana - Why is it the things we hate the most are the things we probably need to add to our training?! Hills.... I hate hills!!

Meghan - You might want to check out these maps. They are free and are REALLY neat looking, and you can get new ones mailed to you every 6 weeks!! Disney Customized Maps
