Wk Of Aug 12 - WISH Walking/Running Club

Thanks for all the well wishes on our "Ohio" trip. The girls still don't know, but I bet anything they will scream when they hear, then roll their eyes that we didn't tell. I have to do this now, because once they get older we won't get the thrill of it!!!! I have a HS Musical tee for dd6 and a Tink tee for dd4 that we will give them once we tell them. Plus, I have autograph books that they get to decorate on the second leg of the flight, you know, the one that LEAVES OHIO!!!!

Krista and Steve - I will wave when we pass through Cinncinati!!!! Maybe I can drop some Pixie Dust on you!

Cam - I am with you, all this talk of Pump Class has me wanting to do one. Last year my schedule and the girls schedule didn't allow for organized classes at our Y. I am hoping with the school and busing changes that maybe I can find one that fits my schedule. I really don't want to do the Saturday morning classes because that is my LR day.

Dana - ROCK ON with your miles!!!!!!

SWDave - I will give you a full report on POP. We are excited about trying it out. AND, they have slushies in their soda machine area that are included with the refillable mugs. DD's will LOVE that!

Vic - I am glad your foot is feeling better. Mine too, tho at times it hurts like a motha still when I overdo it!!!

Matt - It is awesome to see you back!!!

OK, gotta run to lunch. We are cashing in our coins that we save for WDW spending money!

Quick drop in post -

Got my run in this morning - 4.1 miles with an average pace of 10:32. Felt pretty good. For the week I ran 12.11 miles with an average pace of 10:37.

Sunday is my birthday so DH is taking me out to dinner downtown and then to see the comedian Kathy Griffin. Everyone in the house is excited cause my girls are going to spend the night with my Mom and watch the High School Musical 2 premiere. Tomorrow we're going to the American Girl store grand opening. I best get a night job to afford what that store is gonna cost me!

Got two birthday cards in the mail today with checks! Looks like I'm gonna get to order that Garmin soon! :woohoo:

Hope everyone has a great weekend and awesome runs! :wizard:

OK, Pump fanatics- I've never seen a Pump class but they might have them at my gym. The last organized class I did was an aerobics class years ago and it involved me constantly being on the wrong side of the stupid step thing. You know, not so much a fitness problem as a coordination problem.:rolleyes1 Is this Pump class you speak of easier to deal with? You've got me intrigued...

Good news: I did 4 miles on the TM giving me 20 for my total this week. Bad news: I'm getting kind of bored before my Goofy training has even started. I may actually have to face the elements outside just for some variety...

Jen in GA

Jen -- Have a great trip!
Shan -- Happy Birthday!
Jen -- I am with you on the coordination thing! Total lost cause. Looks like there are a couple of evening fitness classes that will start right after labor day. Fortunately for me, sign up for full Y members is this Sunday, so I didn't miss it and hopefully the classes wont' be filled instantly. I'll run over there on Sunday when it opens and sign up for it. Looks like there is a Monday night pump class and they seem to bill it as what looks like working with weights. Is that right?

Jen & Cam The only coordination involved in PUMP is lifting and putting down the bar. No seriously, we use a step to lay down on for triceps and chest. But the class consists of using weights and working individual body parts for about 4 to 5 minutes each. For example squats for an entire song with a bar with weights on your shoulders, another song where you work your chest laying down on the bench with a bar with weights, same for biceps (standing up) There is not much moving around and no cardio involved whatsoever, except when we do squats I am always breathing hard and sweating.

I absolutely LOVE it and can't wait to go in the morning.

Girls, I can't say that I LOVE pump class but I have to say that it's a really good workout. I don't like the machines at the gym, but I definetly need to do weights. Pump includes all muscle groups, uses weights, and also includes a good cardio (increase MY heart rate at least!). Without an organized class, I would avoid all lunges, squats and weights! I have joined PaDisneyFan's gym because of the great class schedule. When doing this I have committed myself to 2 pumps classes, and 2 stretch classes a week. I have done pretty well getting it done so far.

I feel alot better when I cross train, and do my strength classes. When I didn't get a good class in a couple times a week, I got the fat all back in my middle. I have been working my fanny off to get rid of it again! UG!!!!!

Jen-My parents surprised my brother, sister and I with a surprise trip to WDW when I was 13(I turned 14 while we were down there.) They actually took us out of school on my birthday to go and I was beyond mad at them. I liked school and also wanted to be with my friends on my birthday. They told us when we got to the airport that we weren't really giving my mom's friend a ride, she was giving us a ride to catch a plane to WDW. All thoughts of being mad or upset were gone and I freaked out. I'm 25 now and I still remember that trip and I'd be just as excited if not more so to have my parents surprise me now. So the thrill won't really go away for any of you. Hope you have a great trip.

So I was aggravated after my 2 miler that I can't do well with getting my pace below 10 minutes so I decided to do a 1 miler today to see how fast I could do it. Well on this mile run I realized what my problem is, my motivation to run is excellent but when I get out there I can't push myself to run faster. (Which I know I can do.) So how do all of you motivate yourself to push faster or harder? I know it's in me but I just can't seem to bring it out.

Hey all! Got outside for a run today!:cool1: Only had 5 miles on the schedule, so I thought I'd get up early and head out. It was pretty nice--really humid and getting hot towards the end but what can ya do? At least our heat wave will break somewhat this weekend, giving me a little relief for my LR on Sunday. But for the specifics, 5 miles in 46:something (would've been under that 9:00/mile but had to make a potty stop)

Oh, and some sort of exciting news--I am going to be taking a part-time job at the fitness center my dsis works at. Pretty much sitting at the front desk and answering phones--maybe a shift or two in the daycare. The pay is pretty low--BUT I'll get a free membership to 2 of the most exclusive health clubs in the city. Pysched about that!

Sorry I'm not responding to anyone right now--I'm waiting on a call back from an insurance company. Someone hit my car in the target parking lot yesterday afternoon and we're sorting it all out. Ugh! Not what I needed!

Hey all, no I've not fallen off the earth again, just off to England in a couple of hours so had lots of work to do before leaving. Haven't even had a chance to catch up with the posts so I hope evryone did well at CDC. I will return in September about three weeks into training (gulp) and promise to post more often. Off for a cup of tea now then quick run before I sit down for two 12 hour flights in a metal tube!!! Helen

Good Evening Team

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend so far. I got out for a four mile run tonight and finally broke a 10 minute pace since MINNIE  I actually averaged about 9.5.

Dave My back still hurts but no where near like it did and I'm really seriously considering going for the full this year. I like the Tri - Charlotte training plan -- Thanks Christa This week it has me up for a 7 miler. I'm going to do it Sunday morning and we will see how it goes.

Hope everyone is having a good night.

Good Morning TEAM: :surfweb:

I'm waking up and fueling up for my Saturday LR. I have 16 on tap today. We'll see how it goes. My head/nose has been really stuffed up all day yesterday. I don't know if it's allergies or if I'm starting to catch a cold.

Angie- I'm glad to hear that your back is getting a little better. Sorry to hear that you are still in discomfort though.

Krista- How's your IT band these days?

Good Morning

Did not get up in time to do my run, core and pump. So just going to gym to do core and pump. It's probably better after my 4 last night my back was pretty sore and tomorrow is my longest run in a while -7 !!

Today I get to enjoy what used to be one of my most favorite hobbies -- Scrapbooking !!:woohoo: Hope everyone has a good day and I will let you guys know how the 7 goes tomorrow.

Stephanie that will be fun working at the health club. There should be lots of positive energy there, making it easy to stay charged yourself.

Mouse Buddy, have a good 16 miler. Erica and I won't be into miles like that till fall. We want to do a few more long walks than we did for the marathon training since we are doing the Goofy this year.

It's finally a bit cooler in the South this weekend, it's about darn time. These days in the 100s and breaking heat records really are yucky.

Have a great weekend y'all.

Hi Wishers.

What a week. Here's how it turned out.

I did 3 mile walk on Wednesday morning. Then finished getting things ready to move DD to college -- including leaving things in place for the little kids who were staying home with my mom while we were gone. DS went along to be free labor for the move. Picked up DD new contacts and got my port flushed before picking up DH after work. Grabbed a quick dinner and drove approximately 4 hours-- arriving at relatives' home about 11pm.

On Thursday we moved DD into the dorm -- a few minor glitches, which I will spare you -- but things went well, with the exception of the approximately 105 degree heat! DD stayed in the dorm and the rest of us descended on our hosts again at about 11 pm. Home again on Friday.

This morning (Saturday) I walked 5 miles -- again focusing on miles and not times.:woohoo:

I am really getting excited to start putting in more miles. Having the marathon to work toward has really made the transition to "college mom" much easier.

Thanks for listening.
Dona

Dona--guess I missed this before--but where in AR are you? Glad to hear that DD's move was relatively uneventful

Dave--WTG on the 16 mile--and cold you say? Blow some of that our way!

Nothing to report from me today--rest day. Got 12 scheduled for tomorrow, hope it cools off a little.

Stephanie--- Congratulaions on your new part time job.

Dave--- Great job on your 16 mile run.

Angie--- At least you were able to get the core and pump class done. Today my legs and triceps are hurting from Thursday's class. I tend to get delayed sorness 2 days after class.

Dona--- So glad my days of moving children back and forth from college are done. Now I am just the storage area from all those items they needed. I have microwaves, refrigators, computers, TV's, assorted pots, pans, dishes, silverware, etx. Could I ship any to you? Good luck to your DD.

I walked 9 miles today. It was beautiful weather and cool but not cold. It wasn't my best 9 miles, but it is done.

Nancy
