Wk of April 6 - WISH Walking/Running Club

Kristi - Having been the beneficiary of your never-ending smile and enthusiasm and energy during a race, I think I can say with some certainty that Angie LOVED every minute of sharing that race with you!
:goodvibes You should know, I told her stories about you! I told her all about us walking for a few miles in Disneyland together. I then also told her about your surgery & how healthy you've become in those few years.

Speaking of cribs and babies and all that, we had the pleasure of spending a lovely meal with DDalmost20 and her very endearing boyfriend yesterday...
OMG, Cam!
You just about gave me a heart attack here!
I thought you were going to say you were going to be a grandmother! :rotfl2:

Carrie - fabulous job on the PR! :thumbsup2
Funny, you mentioned texts. Yesterday I wanted to text someone, anyone about our race. I didn't since I thought everyone would think I was a wacko! Next time...watch out! ;)

Bill - get better soon. We need your cominc relief around here! :wizard:

Did anyone see Biggest Loser last week? I just watched it and LOVED what Bob was saying about yoga! He was talking about how hard a workout it can be. I needed that. I sometimes feel like I am wimping out or something with my fitness yoga xt.

Since I have been struggling with the whole training thing, I think I am going to take it down a notch for a bit. (I have great epiphanies while walking 13.1 long miles  ) So, I am going to plan on the Bradford 5k as my next race in July. I am going to train like heck to PR a 5k. The shorter distance, with shorter weekend workouts should fit my crazy schedule for now. I think I was getting overwhelmed with the LRs on the weekends with everything else I had going on & Chad working weekends lately. So, for awhile, I am going to try to go shorter, but faster........................................

See, that was me whizzing by! :rotfl:

Cam - :grouphug: SO good to see you here! HOpe that emns life is slightly less crazy!

Julie - Good to see you!

CIndy - :grouphug:

Claire - An enjoyable 20-miler is somethign to celebrate. Yay!

Martha - Great pace! Very clsoe to mine yesterday. Darn. Thought i might catch you someday. ;)

Kristi - Text away! I love getting updates like that! COngrats again!

Krista - :rotfl: SO glad i'm not the only one with weird dreams. No, I'm not pg, just always had weird dreams. That's classic, though. Can't wait to visit with our WInneabgo soemday!

Leanna - Great that teh team competition worked. MAke sure you don't overdo, though. Too many oeple have crud relapses when tehy do!

Carol - Great pace. You will have plenty of pic time fo Minnie!

Kira - WOo hoo on the great run!

Angie - Very cute pic of both of you! I knew how cute you were already, though. ;) Must see what I must have skimmed over from last week. Didn't the interview gowell? :grouphug:

Scojo - Consensus of the weekend was that we like Amphipod fuel belts. (OK, so there were only 4 of us, but we all liked our amphipods). So jealous that youwere on my all time favorite trail. Sigh.... ANd I have now heard good things about Vanilla Bean Gu twice in3 days. Must try.

BillF - SO sorry you're sick again. :wizard: Hope you're better soon!

Cecelia - Sorry you're still feeling poorly. :wizard: for you too!

Judy - So glad you are finally getting better!

Anyone want to run my 40 minuts fro me tonight? Bueller? Bueller? My nrain is really hooked on runnign again after my PR, but my body is screaming at me, "YOu wnat me to do what? I give you a kick-butt PR yesterday adn you can't even give me a day off?" Hope it doesn't go on strike. We have a Minnie to PR, though. I've promised it quality spa time after that. :upsidedow

Carrie I'm not sure at all at this point how the interview went. It was ok I guess I'm just afraid that my lack of confidence caused me to not make a very good impression and I'm worried about my lack of experience and of course at this point I have spent the entire weekend picking every milli second of the interview apart. That being said the interview ended with me talking to my friend that works there and that friend told me today that his boss was asking what I thought and what kind of questions I asked him. When my friend got the job there he said it took about a week for them to make him an offer, so I know I shouldn't fret but I REALLY WANT THAT JOB!!!!

OK off now sorry guys.

Angie - Don't fret! Sometimes the interviews that you think were awful went well. Like the time I had a major coughing fit and had to take a break in the middle, or the time the interviewer snapped at me for asking a question about their business but that she didn't feel "was relative to the position." I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you girl! At least you now have an idea of the kind of direction you want your career to go in!

Did anyone see Biggest Loser last week? I just watched it and LOVED what Bob was saying about yoga! He was talking about how hard a workout it can be. I needed that. I sometimes feel like I am wimping out or something with my fitness yoga xt.

Kristi: OMG...Yoga is a GREAT workout. I do pilates ALL the time but whenever I do yoga it TOTALLY kicks my butt. I'm usually sore for days. I wish I had more time to add it into my schedule...I think it's a wonderful strength, stretching and core workout! Never feel like you're wimping out. :thumbsup2

Carrie:  I'm SOOO happy for you and that awesome Half time that you had. You must be totally walking on air today after such a successful race!!! Just love it when the stars align and all that hard work finally pays off!

Cam:  So nice to *see* you here!!! Wow..yikes...yes talking about "serious" relationship. Goodness! And GREAT job on your 8 Miler!!!! I know you've been struggling with your ear problem for a while as I've followed your journal. I'm glad to hear you had a successful run!

Leana: WTG on getting out there for that 8 miler...considering you are still not feeling well. Just make sure that you take care of yourself girl! Don't push too hard until you feel a lot better!!! :goodvibes

Kristi, Lisa, Chad and Angie: WOW you guys really did WiSH proud at the Half this weekend!!! :grouphug: What a great example of team spirit and friendship. You all must be so proud of your accomplishment!

BillF: OH NO! Take care of yourself. So sorry to hear you're ill! Just rest up and get yourself better. It's been such a long few months with you guys fighting the germs! :(

Angie: Awesome run...incredible pace!!! You are kickin' butt girl! Keep being kind to that back though ;). BTW....LOVE the race ready shirt. It looks awesome...I will have to order one before marathon weekend! Thanks for modeling it for us! :thumbsup2

Claire....enjoyable 10 Miler? Does that exist? I guess so...you just gave me some hope girl! GREAT job!!!!! :cool1: And I'm so happy to hear you're doing Goofy 09! yay!!!

Scott: Wow...great pace on your long run. Looks to me like you slayed the dragon on the Comet. I know you haven't enjoyed your runs on the trail and prefer to bike there. BUT...sounds like you had a very successful run AND some awesome XT as well! Way to rack up those miles for the bunnies ;). And thanks for the Gu report! Gonna' have to get them!

Judy: Everyone around here who had that same yucky mess that you dealt with were coughing for a while. Was just so hard to get rid of that cough this year :(. Just know that you WILL be better soon and back in the training in no time. Make sure you take care of yourself and don't push too hard too soon! :goodvibes

Kira: Congrats on the run! You deserve to be proud of yourself!!!

Cecilia: Hang in there...I know you're going through a tough emotional time and dealing with being sick on top of it! I'm sorry things are so difficult for you right now.

As for me...I had a "character building run" yesterday. Otherwise known as a stonker ;). I set out to do 10 but only managed 8 due to starting late among other things. I was on a trail that became wilder and less "runnable" as time went by. I twisted my ankle...lost the trail several times...ended up on a busy highway on a steep 200 ft climb...the weather was chilly and windy....i got stuck in a mud pit....lost my balance and grabbed onto a branch that turned out to be a sticker bush and had a bunch of little pin like needles stuck in my hand....had to stop my garmin and completely bring my run to a halt MANY times due to MANY circumstances....*sigh* :sad2: . So yeah...it STUNK! Although it wasn't accurate b/c I had to stop and search for trail, dig myself out of mud, etc etc....my "running" time/pace was 8 miles in 82:39. I now remember why trail running is so difficult LOL. I was not prepared for an adventure yesterday as it was my first time on a supposed nice trail. :headache: Oh well...aside from that the usual....lots of pilates (one more class to teach today) and managed to get on the bike trainer again this weekend.

Leanna: Listen to your body and rest. Running while sick just prolongs the illness. It's entirely okay to skip a long run for sleep. That goes for eveyone who's under the weather this week. Take your Zinc vitamins, it really helps with recovery.

And what's this about drinking wine and tapas? Where's the samples for the rest of us WISHers??? :rotfl:

My weekday clinic running group, our motto is "Live to run, Run to eat". I even had that imprinted on my Road ID tag for my shoe. I've previously reported we BBQ after training days, picnics, and birthday dinner parties. Good fun, as long as the next day isn't my long training run day.

EvilQueen Crista: I inadvertantely did a Bandit run last year. The Nike 30K. I was out running on my own, turned a corner, and ended up on the race course with everyone else. I had my own Gatorade bottle, so I didn't use their support tables. And at the end, I ran around the timing chip mat. No one cared I wasn't wearing a bib number.

My weekend report:
I had a up and down weekend. Good news, after the 10K race, I won a sweepstakes, and got a nice check as a consolation prize. The Princesses didn't get a single penny of it. LOL. Will go to running boards for the new truck.

The sad news, I learned that two friends recently lost their fathers to illness, and a younger friend from my school days lost her life tragically in February. Learning of their three deaths all on the same day was a lot to handle. It was a sad day indeed for this WISHer. I'll get over it, but I miss them all.

Sorry to post such a downer message. I'm glad to be a part of the team. Have a great day everyone!

Amy - Oh my gosh, character building is one way to put it! Just having one or two of those things happen would be bad enough, but all together it sounds insane. Thanks for the kudos and the reminder to take it easy too. I promise not to push too hard as I really want to be better before the Minnie (that's a month away, hopefully that isn't asking for too much!). At least I feel like my running mojo is starting to come back!

THANK YOU WISH TEAM!!!

Thank you for letting me fret and supporting me.

I GOT THE JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Angie-- THAT IS AWESOME!!!! I am so happy for you and your family. Go out and celebrate, girl!  :dance3: :woohoo: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Krista

Jeff, Sorry to hear about your bad news. At least if it's true that it comes in three's you should be finished with bad news for a while!

Angie WAY TO GO!!!! Congrats!

Congratulations, Angie! I am so happy for you!! Hugs from Howard and me! party:  :cheer2: :goodvibes: :sunny: :woohoo:

Starting a race with other WISHers and also knowing how many poeple are wishing us well from afar. FInishing and having dh be sure and bring your phone to you, because he knows there are WISHers waiting for texts. Getting to the boards and seeing congratulatory posts before you even had a chance to post anything.
I really can't wait to experience this for the first time in January!

Good afternoon, WISH teammates! :wave2:
Hey Cam! DD is talking marriage?!?!:scared1: Twenty isn't so young -- that's how old I was...;)

THANK YOU WISH TEAM!!!

Thank you for letting me fret and supporting me.

I GOT THE JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congratulations!

ANGIE: Congrats on the new job!!! That's awesome!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Great news Angie, when do you start this new adventure? :woohoo:

Thanks for the notes gang, it's good to have your support. I appreciate you all.

It would really be nice if I could stop coughing. :sad2: Other than that I guess I'm feeling better. No training to report. :headache:

OriginalBill - Oh no.....Listen, the past two weeks I was a nominee for the "Most Dramtic Performance During a Near Death Illness". I'll nominate you for that same catagory. Oh you poor thing.

I don't know how dramatic it was but when I told Lynnda I had a 103.5 degree fever, she quit laughing and threatened the ER. I just wanted to sleep so I made sure she was feeding Timmy when I told her. :lmao: Then she threatened to poke me all night and continue monitoring me.

There is so much "new" here. I have been completely swamped with some new cases at work and one old one that may prevent me from getting to the Minnie weekend. :sad1: I alternate between crying about the prospect of not being there and thanking God for my wonderful career and continued employment. :confused3

Speaking of cribs and babies and all that, we had the pleasure of spending a lovely meal with DDalmost20 and her very endearing boyfriend yesterday. They decided we all needed to spend time getting to know each other because they're "serious"! OUCH!!! I literally remember putting her crib together. I swear I do. My Dad and Howard put the crib together and then my Mom & I took over and put on the bedding. After it was all assembled we realized we'd forgotten the dust ruffle and Howard had to take the mattress out so we could put that on. See? I told you it was like yesterday. Now my baby & her BF are joking about a Disney wedding and an Alaskan cruise for a honeymoon. I am seriously NOT believing that much time has gone by. :scared1:

I thought lawyers were supposed to always get continuances (sp) and delay trials so that they never occur. That sounds like the perfect solution, then you can come keep eveyone in line at Minnie.

When you started talking about babies, my first thought was you were going to have an unexpected surprise next year. :scared1: :lmao: Thankfully we have a few more years before that but it is hard enough with kindergarten next year.

:
Bill - get better soon. We need your cominc relief around here! :wizard:

I think everyone was laughing at me yesterday when I was stumbling around in a haze. That was some good medicine. :rotfl2:

THANK YOU WISH TEAM!!!

Thank you for letting me fret and supporting me.

I GOT THE JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats, with all the dread and worrying, I hope it is everything you were expecting.

Jeff - Sorry to hear about the bad news. That is a lot to take in one weekend.
Bill

Jeff - so sorry for the bad news. :grouphug:

Angie - Congrats!!!:cheer2:

Amy - character building sounds like an under statement!

Bill - hope you feel better soon.

To everyone -- Howdy!

Yesterday got out and walked the farthest I have so far - 5.65 miles with a 16 min pace. Feel pretty confident that I'll be able to pick it up to keep from being swept at the Minnie. It'll be first time with the WISH team so certain that'll help, too.

Taking it easy tonight and back at it tomorrow.

Hope everyone has a great evening!

Amy - That is not a stonker b/c of you...it was a stonker b/c of everything else...WOW! That sounds like a hard run. You did wonderful though!:thumbsup2

Scott - YOU ARE FAST!:worship:

Jeff - so sorry for all the bad news. I hope your week gets better. You rock the races man!:worship:

Angie - WTG on the new job....:cool1: When do you start.

Me - I rode my bike on the trainer today while watching Little Mermaid. Did 18 hours in 1 hour. Tried to keep it easy b/c my hip is hurting a little. DDs are on spring break so I have to be creative. Glad I now have the trainer...even though I would rather be on the road.
