Hello everyone!

For those new to us, we are a group of people who are planning to participate in walking/running events throughout the year. For most of us, the ultimate goal is to train and compete in the annual WDW Half/Full marathons. We'll also be posting news and training for various other events throughout the year. We range from non-running beginners to triathletes. Come join us, whether you're training for an event or walking/running for fitness!

New WISH Team members. If you read one thing over and over, believe this. Being part of this team is fantastic. Part of the ride you get for the event is what I call the roller coaster. There will be lots of ups and downs. The more you post here, the more you will find yourself enjoying the ride. It is an incredible journey. Don't be afraid, shy or whatever to come here and just post up anything. You don't have to know us right away, or all of us at all. You will get to know some of us. It makes the event you are enjoying have MORE meaning and we love to have you.

Good morning WISH team!

Special shout-out to Carrie and Scott for the 1/2 marathon today! Good luck and let us know how it goes. Can't wait to see the shirt.

Good luck to all WISH team members in races today!

Sorry I've been only posting on our team thread. WTO since I took the new job at the beginning of December and I just don't have the time I used to. I've been following everyone's posts as best as I can. I cannot make any promised to be a better poster. I'll do what I can but know that the WISH team is never far from my mind.

I'm supposed to run 7 miles today and I'm going to run outside. Hope the weather holds for me. We got a little sun yesterday and it would have been nice for some carry-over of good weather. Alas, not to be. Oh well. I'll play the hand I've been dealt today.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Good afternoon WISHers!

It's been a wet and rainy weekend in NW Florida.

Got in 3 miles on the TM this morning. Nothing significant to report.

Martha - Have a great run!

Congratulations Carrie & Scott :moped:

As I walked in the house and Martha walked out (ships passing) she told me "Carrie PR'd today in her half marathon."

Okay, so give us the details. Since I know the result be sure to put in lots of uncertainty and drama for your effort today. You and Scott must be especially pleased with yourselves, you earned it out there.

Martha did get her 7.25 today, thanks Big Vic for the positive waves. She was the brave one and went out into the weather.

It's 41, and has been all day. Damp and mist to boot, so I ran inside. With the weather sure to be warm to hot and humid on May 4, being inside a hot and humid room is better for my training so my body hopefully won't wilt. I did the full race distance, 15K in 90:42, 9:44 per mile, with the marathon course map in front of me so I could visualize every stretch. I went through 6 barely faster than 10 mpm and pushed in the last 3.32. It was a success, but I was pretty blown at the end, giving me reasons to re-consider my time goal for the 15K. Maybe the smart strategy is to ease off the first half, and if it feels right push the second half.

Then again, when have I ever exhibited signs of intelligence in a race? That's a trick question since the answer is of course, never.

Best
Craig

Amy: Yup, I'm going :goofy: in 2009. You were flyin' on that run! It's okay to brag around here so long as you don't make a habit of it! :upsidedow

Jeff: [with all other members] Welcome Jeff. *whispers*we won't be helping you get over your Mickey addiction, as a matter of fact, we'll probably make it worse! Yay for the throat getting better. And a big congrats on the race!

Angie: Glad the interview went well. Do you know when you will hear back from them? Yikes on the calf!

Scott: Hmm maybe an apple pie with a vanilla flavored gel??? ...or better yet just hand me some ice cream! :stitch2: and I'm always cheering on my Tigers! Wahoo! :woohoo: on the shirt.

Duckie:

Jen: oooo what fun! My favorite cake is the treasure chest cake: http://jas.familyfun.go.com/recipefinder/display?id=50213 but they have a whole bunch of Pirate & Princess themed cakes.

Kristi: Good luck on the race! Hopefully any cats will be behind you and just make you run faster on course!

Martha: Good luck on getting that run in. Hey if it rains you can just play dodge-the-drops!

Craig: LOL thinking during a race??? What would be the fun in that? Certainly sounds like a good run though.

:boat:

I had a very enjoyable 10 miler on Friday, and a nice relaxing day off yesterday. Today I went on a 4 miler. Right now I'm forgoing the Garmin and not timing myself when I run so that I can just enjoy it and save the being competitive for training for Goofy.

Hi Everyone,

It feels like forever since I've posted on the weekly thread. Just too busy I guess. I'd like to say that it's because I'm spending so much time running, but that wouldn't be the truth. After suffering cold after cold for 7 weeks this winter I finally felt well enough to run consistently then after two weeks I hurt my foot. I fear it's a stress fracture. I had xrays that came back negative, but I've read that you can't always see it right away on the xray. I have an appt. with an orthopedic on Wed, maybe he'll have a better understanding of what the problem is. In any case I'm not very positive about my being able to finish a 15K in one month's time. I'll try to build up my aerobic fitness on the bike and ellyptical and see how it goes come Minnie.

Craig: Fantastic job on the TM. Taking the first part of the race easy just doesn't seem to be your style. Best of luck no matter which strategy you choose.

Martha: Nice job getting out in this dreary weather today.

Jeff: Great job on your race. Did the new visor make you speedy?

Looking forward to reading everyone's race reports from today.

Have a great week everyone.
Cindy

Hi everyone!

I just thought I'd stop by and say hello. I'm still new-ish here and I've been posting mainly on my team (the fabulous Team 'Ohana) threads. It seems like sometimes life gets in the way and makes it nearly impossible to find the time for reading and/or posting.

Craig, I see you're from Wellesley. I'm from West Roxbury. I was actually thrilled that it was 41 today. It's the first time I haven't needed a hat and gloves when going out for my morning run! I've only been running since January, so 41 seemed like a treat to me!

I hope everyone has a great week. I will try to stop by more often so I can get to know you all. :goodvibes

Good afternoon WISHers (it's still morning here).

I helped guide about 16 people with the clinic today on a 8 miler. We kept it between 10-10 1/2 minute miles. At the half way point it started to rain, which kept things cooler than normal. Bumping it up to 10 miles next Sunday.

CINDYLOU: Yes, wearing a WISH visor makes one faster. It streamlines your hair, thus reducing the drag in the wind. :rotfl2: Don't be surprised if everyone gets a personal record racing in their new WISH uniforms.

Good going to everyone who got out and trained or raced this weekend.

I posted this on the thread for this weekend's races, but I want to be sure to report here too.

Just back from Great Bay...quick drive-by report:
Met Lisa & Angie (and families) before the race.
Chad finished in 2:00:53!!!! :woohoo:
Me & Angie FINISHED and we were not DLF!!!

I am so proud of Angie (pungodingy). She was having a terrible time with blisters yet again. I talked her ear off at times. I went a little ahead of her at times (to give her a break from my jabber mouth ). I even jumped around a bit like a fool at times to get her to smile. She plugged through in ALOT of pain. And she did it!

Gotta run. Chinese food is calling my name... :rolleyes1

Hi, TEAM!!!! Just sitting here in the new rocking chair in the baby's room watching Stephen put the crib together. :goodvibes

Carrie and Kristi--Congrats on your half marathons!!!! Can't wait to read all the details. :) And now, thanks to Kristi I'm craving Chinese food.

Carrie--I had the craziest dream about you and Scott last night, I can't remember all of it, but it involved parking next to you in the Krogers parking lot while you guys were driving a gigantic Winnebago. :confused3 :confused3 I've been have the CRAZIEST dreams lately!!

Duckie--Sorry to hear about your grandma.

Martha and Craig--It sounds like you both had great runs!!! I won't brag too much and tell you that we hit 68 degrees today. ;)

Scott--Lucky you getting to buy smaller sizes! I'm counting the days until I can start wearing smaller clothes again. Although to be completely honest, I can't complain too much, I'm really not that big. How did you like that Gu?

Amy--Nice job on the speed work pay off!!!!! I am so jealous as to how fast you are!

Lily--So glad that the doctor cleared you for training. I agree with Craig, don't let Ted know that!

Angie--I thought about you on Friday. Hope all the everything turns out just the way you want it to.

Stephanie--I'm glad to hear that your family is safe!

Sara--If you are on this thread, I sent you a PM.

Well, Stephen is about finished with the crib and the bedding is probably all dry in the dryer, so I better earn my keep and start putting the bedding together. I'll post pics later.

Keep up the good work everyone!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Krista

Hello Everyone!

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Duckie, Sorry to hear about your grandmother.

Jeff, The visor looks great and now I hear it makes you faster WOW!!!

Craig and Julie. 41 degrees is COLD LOL!

I managed to get my 6 miles in.....I went to Greenville yesterday morning and spent the night with my friend and her family to offer moral support. I then headed home around 1, got here at 3:30, changed clothes and went to the park. Six miles in 78 minutes (which is faster then the sweepers at the Minnie LOL!) I am doing a walk job combo. I think I walked 1.25 miles of this training which I think was good.

Hope everyone has a great week.

(And GO LADY VOLS!!!! Tonight's the semi-final game!)

Hey everyone!

I just came back from a really great run - 3.4 miles at an under 12 minute pace for the first time ever! I ran overall a 11:50 pace - just one week ago I ran the same route at 12:34! Wow! :goodvibes

It was a really great running weather, about 50 degrees and threatening a drizzle. Spring has really sprung here in Philadelphia, and it is absolutely beautiful - flowers are blooming and the trees are sprouting. It was great to be out there running on a day like today.

I can't wait to hear the race reports from everyone this weekend!

Duckie - Sorry about your grandmother. It has been a while since my grandmas died, and I still miss them. Take care of yourself.

Jeff - WTG! You rock. I went over to your blog and read about you getting back into running - very inspiring.

And hello to everyone else as well! I hope you had a great weekend.

GOOD EVENING TEAM!

Christa HI! :flower3:
TXAng Congratulations for making it to page 1.
Jeff Awesome time on the race!!
Martha Glad you got your run in.
Vic We ended up with your rain down here. Glad you got some miles in.
Craig Great job on the run and i love the idea of the map, sure would give me something to preoccupy me !!
Claire Glad you got your 10 miles in and good for you letting the Garmin go. I keep telling myself I am going to get out there and "just run" but it does not happen :confused3
Cindy Godd to see you back around and here's WISHing :pixiedust:you build it back up in time for MINNIE!!
Julie :welcome: Hope to see you around more often.
Kristi :yay: :woohoo: CONGRATULATIONS!!!! TO YOU AND CHAD AND ANGIE!!! :yay: :woohoo:
Krista That is so exciting. I am so glad you are still posting and sharing everything with us!!!

So I met Mel at Sweetberries today - a place here in Bradenton that serves unbelievable frozen custard, so I could pick up my new WISH shirt. They look great. I also got my stuff from Cariie, when DH gets home with the car (where my camara is) DS and I are going to take a pic with some of the new gear and I will post so you guys can see.

As for the training. Took 2 days off like I said I was going to, calf and back much better. (BTW - I was going to go ahead and do long run yesterday, then I saw Scott's post telling me good choice to rest and the guilt kicked in.) So I was going to do 10 today, as I was leaving the MAJORLY black storm clouds were building, but I am stubborn in case you guys have not figured it out so I figured I would go as far as i can and turn around when it gets bad. Let's just put it this way, I was on my way back when the heavens opened up. I don't know if any of you out there have been in one of our FLORIDA monsoon, soaking, can't see 2 feet in front of you rain but that is what I was running in at about mile 7!!!!!! It was ok because it was not lightning, but your shoes get very heavy when they are that wet. :rotfl:
Evidently I run well in the rain because guess what I did;

8 miles in 73.5 minutes:yay: :yay: :yay:

At which DH did find me and pick me up. I am a dork and I was very mad that I did not get to finish my first double digit run in over a year, but I am THRILLED with my time so it's ok.

I will be back with some pics a little later. BTW - CHECK OUT MY SIGGIE!!!! LESS THAN 30 DAYS TO MINNIE!!!! I CAN'T WAIT!!

Evenin' everyone!

I ran 7.25 miles today in 79 minutes. I started slow, which I always do, but finished strong. It was 40 degrees and misted on and off. I have no idea what I'm gonna do in Florida when it's 70 degrees at the start and humid. Yeah, that's comparable...NOT!!

angietuck2: LOVE the siggie! It's great.

Kira G: :thumbsup2 on the run! But, do ya HAVE to rub it in what great weather you've got in Philly?

CarolA: you'll do great at Minnie!

Krista: thanks for not bragging about the weather! Can't wait to see the pictures.

laughinplace199: we seem to have quite a contingency from MA! We should have a mini-WISH meet when the weather gets warmer. Are you running the James Joyce in Dedham this year?

Vic: Hi! How's it going?

Calcio: :love2:

Have a lovely evening everyone!

Sorry team I haven't been around in a while...

WDWTO (walt disney world took over! haha:rotfl2: )
I was hanging out with my friend Mickey Mouse and having a grand ol time.
However, I did keep up with my training for the Minnie15k. I did 3 miles Thursday, 3miles on Sat and 7 miles today. I think from this visit and visits past at POP Century I know every inch of the resort including parking lots from going around and around. I did good today on my LW kept a 14:25 pace. I am sure I would've done a bit better if I wasn't vacationing.

Sounds like everyone is doing well with training and with races!!!

I was excited when I say that my limegreen WISH visor came while I was away!!
I can't wait to wear it at the Minnie!! (Now if I can just get an EYE2EYE shirt I'll be set!!)
Tommorow is a rest day and I think I need it after walking around the WORLD and training!!
Take care all.

Good evening WISHers!

Sitting here watching Sunday Night Baseball.

Angie - WTG with the 8 miler! :thumbsup2

Martha - We're doing fine. Sounds like you had a great run. Supposed to be in the 80s this week. So starts the long, hot summer. :)

Tracy - WTG with the walk!
