Wk of April 4 - WISH Team Walkers and Runners

Maggie: Welcome! You're off to a great start. Competitive swimmer, huh? You probably have the shoulders and back muscles I would like to have.

Thank you! I haven't been taining for a couple years so what muscle I did have is gone now

4/3- ran/walked 2.32 mi.
4/5-massive headache decided to push run off 'till Monday
4/6 ran/walked 2.78 mi! my longest so far, before my injury I could run 3 mi so getting back there is exciting

Oh and what does XT stand for?

Jeff: I guess coming all the way from paradise to Florida it makes sense to get the cruise and marathon in all at once. You might be interested in this thread on the cruise forum. I hope someone is still doing the run on Castaway Cay.

Debra: What I usually do is some short and slow runs the week of the half just to make sure there are no pending aches and to remind the legs that a lot will be asked of them shortly. You know, if you have a bourbon ice cream cake you could get all 3 done at once. Check out the Stars schedule and let me know when we can go catch some real football.

We had some snow last night so I just hit the gym and will be going home to watch the Champions League games tonight. I just do some core work in front of the TV. It is the age of multi-tasking. :thumbsup2

Morning all, things are as they usually are here. Took 2 days off for my shin, it felt much better so did a hard, fast 4.5 miles on Sat. Took Sunday for a rest day, then did hills last night and pickups this morning. I guess I stepped wrong, so now my ankle is sore. So there is now a full dose of RICE on my plan for today.

I am suppose to do an easy 2 miles tomorrow night, then pace for 5 miles on Thurs and a 5K this Sat. we will see how this goes. It is spring break here so the kids will drive me nuts I am sure. Yesterday it was rollerskating ( I am sore in places that I forgot about) then Mc Donalds and today it is cold and rainy so inside day. :confused3 Oh well only 2 more days of this till camp starts for the rest of the week.

Maggie: Welcome! I swam D3 in college and played water polo when I transferred to a D1 school. I really miss it. I need to get myself up earlier to get to the pool in the morning and start getting some swimming in a few times per week.

Debra: Congrats on you son getting into Central! I had a few people in my law school class who went there.

Tonight will be the last day of W3. Tomorrow, maybe hopping on the bike at the gym or swimming. After I return my sneakers and get a new swimsuit.

I keep telling myself I need to start swimming again...but the pool isn't free so I'll just wait untill summer

4/7- ran/walked 2.92, it was awful the wind was blowing and felt like it was pushing me backwards the whole time (I'm not sure that that is possible though, I run a loop around the neighborhood)

All night and day travel. I've arrived at Augusta, GA for Wednesday's practice round and par 3 tournament at the Masters. 4,000+ miles, and going to be sooooooo worth it!

A bit chilly this afternoon when I got here, and had a short snow flurry in Atlanta as I was driving out of the rental car agency.

Stood at the gate at Magnolia Lane. Guard was way cool, and took my picture for me, since I was by myself.

Gary Player and Luke Donald drove out the gate while I was standing there. Gave them a shaka, and they waved back.

Saw John Daly selling his wares (not qualified for the tournament).

Jeff, Glad you had a safe trip.
Swmr359, I did competitive swimming until high school and my favorite event/best event was the 100 Fly.

As for me today. Tried to run at lunch, but my body could handle it (it wanted lunch first), so ran between work and dinner. Did 4.5 miles in 35 minutes (slightly better than 8 minute miles) and then met my friends for an hour Zumba class.

Best,
Jennifer

XT stands for cross-training.
Ahh that makes sense!
Well I guess the only cross training I do is teaching swimming lessons... treading water while talking and/or holding a child wears you out:rotfl:

Me too!! that and the 200IM

today I had to cut my run short because I went to DC yesterday and wore myself out walking. tip-never walk the stairs at the Woodley Park/Zoo metro the day before a run ow!

What a dead thread. Everyone must be out XTing now that we all know what it means :rotfl:.

Just got back from a nice 10 miler which will be my longest pre-CMM run. I was about 10 seconds off race pace so I am feeling good. I'm at that point where I make sure I don't step weird on anything and twist an ankle this close to the race.

Been there done that! Where are you in VA? I'm in Alexandria.

I need to get back in the pool. I'm signed up for three triathlons this summer. I love swimming once I'm there. It's the getting there part I've been having problems with the last 2 weeks.

I'm in Sterling, near Dulles Airport.
I agree about it being hard to get to the pool, I'm there 4 days a week and still don't manage to actually swim laps!

Don't know why this thread's been so dead this week...

Anyway,

Thursday I did speedwork 9 x 400 top speed equalling a 6:30 mile and low speed about a 7:20.

Yesterday, was a rest day, and I went and saw Hannah Montana the Movie.

Today, did 5 miles in just under 39 minutes (7:45 pace) and now am off to Target to finish off the Easter baskets.

Hey everyone!!

Threads are a bit slow right now it seems, most people seem to have some LTO or WTO or just not training for much right now.

I did a 10K this morning in Boca Raton. I think summer is here in South Florida. We tend to skip right over Spring and just head right into Summer with full force.
Don't have official time yet but it was somewhere around 1hour 18min.

Have a great Saturday everyone!!

Hey WISHers!
Back from Hilton Head late last night. Had some rain, cold, wind and then finally some sun. :yay: Girls got a little beach and pool time before we had to leave and I still managed to get a little sun burned. :rolleyes1
Hope everyone has been well since I left. Apparently the time has come for us to get with the real world and get a laptop and/or cell with email cause we missed some important emails while gone. :headache: So maybe next time we go out of town I'll be able to check in. :surfweb:

So the big news is I ran for the first time since my surgery six weeks ago. It was tough, but I did it. My face was red as fire each time I finished. Very scary looking! :scared: So here's my runs -

Monday - 2 miles / 22:34 / pace -11:17
Tuesday - 2 miles / 22:41 / pace - 11:21
Thursday - 3 miles / 32:25 / pace - 10:48 :woohoo:

Also, got in some bike time following my daughters riding to and from the beach. :goodvibes

Monday - 3 miles / 40 minutes
Wednesday - 3 miles / 40 minutes
Thursday - 3 miles / 40 minutes

Sooo, I'm back in the game. :yay:
Happy Easter! :goodvibes

Shan: :thumbsup2:woohoo: Good for you!!!:yay::cool1:
Sounds like your getting back into things and doing well with it!! Keep up the great work!!
