Wk of April 11 - WISH Team Walkers and Runners

I really envy all of these "just a lazy 6 miles today" posts! :)

I'm with you on that...

I made it to 3 miles today. I almost didn't go out, so it's a really big victory!
It was raining on my way home from work, but I had a break during the run, it started to sprinkle a bit on the way home though. Which brings up the question... What do you wear to run in the rain?? (not downpours, but light rain) In the past I just wouldn't go if the weather wasn't nice,, but now I have a goal.

Just finished week 2 of Couch to 5K tonight. 2.5 miles in 38 minutes. I really envy all of these "just a lazy 6 miles today" posts! :)

Anyway I going slightly farther, slightly faster each time. Small victories.

Thanks for the encouragement everyone! I was feeling really blah because my pace was terrible last night. Then this morning I remeasured my route with my car...I really went 3 miles, not 2.5!!! So my pace was really 12:54, not 15:29! That just made my day!! I am still slow, but not as slow as I thought I was when I posted last night. Yay!

We have the same weather. I swam tonight, but I ran in the sprinkles last night. I wore a light weight fleece. I'm sure there are better things, but it worked for me.

I ran today for the first time in 9 days due to my vacation. My oh my, my body really appreciated the rest. My IT band was good to go, so I must have had a micro-tear in it for a while. Time off allowed it to heal. Good stretching before, during, and after the run.

8 1/4 miles, 1:17:02.

Guru Les is on injured reserve, and will likely need back surgery to repair his disk. So I'm running alone for a while.

I got in 1.5 miles last night. I forgot my time though. 24 minutes maybe. I got to try out my new sneakers though and had to be creative with the nike+ transmitter since I forgot to buy a pocket for it. The new sneakers are New Balance. My feet feel good today (aside from the normal aches and pains that I had before the new sneakers). Hopefully I'll be able to start having less pain now that I have sneakers that fit better. Or at least my toes won't be so ugly.

W4D1 is up next!

Hello WISHers. :goodvibes

I ran 2 yesterday (10:41 pace) and another 2 this morning (10:56 pace). It went better this morning. Yesterday I felt HORRIBLE at the end and almost felt like I was either gonna get sick and/or faint. I really tried to slow myself down this morning. It seems like it went a little easier last week when I was at the beach. Might just be a mental thing, I don't know! :confused3 Gonna take off tomorrow and try and run 3 miles again on Friday. I hope it gets easier soon cause I'm really debating on signing up for the full... I can't believe how much endurance I lost over six weeks! :headache:

Good luck to those going to the CMM this coming weekend! I'm so excited for you guys! :cheer2:

Jeff Glad to see you back. Did you see any of the action during Thurs-Sun or just Wednesday? I was hoping Kenny Perry would win. And I kept saying to my DH--"Augusta has to be one of the most gorgeous golf courses I have ever seen". It looks so good on TV--is it really that way live? BTW, our best friend is taking a job at St Andrews starting next January and guess where the British Open is in 2010? We already talked about visiting and this may cinch the deal.

swmr359 If it rains and it's warm--no other layers (just shirt as usual). If it rains and it's cooler or windy, I have a lightweight shell. I get really warm when I run, so I try not to pile on too much.

Maura,

I always thought Augusta National looked amazing on TV and in magazine photos. Until you see the course in person, you will never know how beautiful it really is. TV and photos do not do the course justice.

I only had tickets for Wednesday's practice round and Par 3 contest. It was a blast, and we did see the Big Three. Jack, Arnie, and Gary we paired again for the Par 3. I was sitting behind #9 green when Gary plunked his shot in the water, re-teed, and knocked it in for his par. The crowd went nuts. I have it on video.

I tried getting a scalped ticket on Thursday, but it was out of my price range. Even though it was 1 pm, I wasn't willing to pay what they were asking.

Keep me posted on your plans to St. Andrews, I may just want to tag along! Is your friend a golf pro, or going for a administrative, or a greenskeeping position at the course? Or just moving to the City of St. Andrews?

Jeff My friend is going to head the English Department at St Andrews University--I should have been more clear. But at least he'll have digs in the town, so I guess I have a place to crash!.

Shan Hang in there. You know you have it in you--it may have just disappeared for a little while, but there is plenty of time to train up for the full.

Hi all,

I did a 3 mile warm up run in 23 minutes this morning (7:40 pace) and then participated in my school's 2.6 mile fun run/race this morning in just under 19 (7:15 pace) and thus placed high enough to win a free Adidas backpack/gym bag.

Jennifer

I did 30 minutes yoga and 20 minutes of Bollywood dancing thanks to On Demand.

I'm feeling a little bit like Dory now. Just keep swimming...

Megan, Bollywood sounds fun! I'll have to see if it's on my on-demand too!

As for me up early and did 3 miles in 23. Probably hitting the gym with my friends later tonight for pilates and ZUmba.

Best,
Jennifer

I'm afraid of getting to hot is I put too much on, I'll have to look around for something...

Ran today (just now actually...) Oh boy did it hurt, I think I need new shoes.
just over 3 miles, I say ran but it was mostly a walk

I'm so glad to see the sun today though! Off to plant some flowers :flower1:

Hey Team!

Keep up the miles and smiles everyone, you're all doing great!

As for me, it was a bit hot out today, so I cut my run portion short to 6 miles. When I got back to the park where I start, I jumped into the Pacific Ocean for 400 yards of swimming.

And so my triathlon training begins. LOL.

My soon to be 11 year old daughter is training for her second kids triathlon next month. She's running pretty well, which is her least favorite of the three elements.

I'll be "Mr. Mom" this week, as the Queen will be taking her annual trip with students to Washington D.C. Lots of fun things planned in her absence, and gourmet cooking with the girls. :thumbsup2

Have a happy Aloha Friday.

Jeff: I didn't even know they did kid's triathlons, are the pretty much sprint triathlons with an age restriction?

I went out last night and did 6.25 nice and easy. I'm now in maintenance mode for Nashville because I think I have the speed in me for the 90 minutes...we'll see.

Jeff, I too want to know about these kiddie triathlons. I'm curious as even the few triathlons.

Gorgeous weather here. Did an easy 6 miles at roughly an 8:15 pace (49 minutes).

Best,
Jennifer

If you look at the 2008 video, she's the girl walking her bike into the corral in the dark. And you may spot me in my WISH racing shirt in both the video and the photos.

- Trust me, there are many days I can't believe I'm running 10 miles every Saturday. 3 years ago I couldn't get to the end of the block without wondering what the heck I thought I was doing. But I was determined I was going to WDW to run a 5K, and then I found the WISH group... We were all there once!

Swmr359 - I have a lightweight (WISH green) pullover rain jacket that I wear over a tank and shorts if it's raining. I can tie it around my waist if the rain stops enough. I also usually wear a visor to keep the rain off my face. So far I haven't had to run in a real downpour.

Shan - I'm sure the endurance will come back quickly. It's depressing at first, but your body will quickly remember what it's supposed to be doing. Based on your pace, I think you might be trying to go too fast too soon? And Maura's right - you have plenty of time to train.

Jeff - If Augusta National is even more beautiful in person, I can't even begin to imagine it! I'm always in awe throughout the entire tournament. Glad you enjoyed your trip.

Went out for what should have been an easy 10 mile run with my off-season Galloway group. We changed our usual route for a change of scenery, and ended up doing 11 miles on an extremely hilly course. I'm happy to say I didn't give up and walk during the run intervals until mile 10.5, but I know I'm going to be hurting tomorrow!
