Wk of Apr 29--WISH Walking/Running Club

Greetings Team -

I can't believe I am saying this for the first time in what, 18 months....but I blew off my L.R this weekend. It was SUCH a busy weekend, but I realize that's no excuse. One good thing, we put a rowboat in our pond and I realized it a great upper body workout.

Christa - Oh no! :wizard: for your major health test. Oh girl! That pace! :thumbsup2 You are amazing!

Stephanie - "A goose al la Judy!" :rotfl: They don't mess around when it comes to their nest, do they!

Meghan
- Oh no! Sorry about the broken toe. That really stinks!

Sunny - Wait. You chickened out meeting MelR once? I guess I didn't give you much of a chance this year at the Half, did I? I practically accosted you at the water table! How excited was I (At that crazy hour of the morning even!) to meet Sunny! YAY! I wasn't going to let that chance go by.

Vic - My man Tony got robbed again. :headache:

Laurie - No big wrecks? What race were you watching? Did you see the last couple of laps?? :confused3

Lisa
- on the "invisible ink' You know the guys were looking! Maybe your scale, like ours, is suddenly in metric.

Yo all who have cheered teh "wrong" thing at runners: I would rather have everyone cheering teh wrong thing, than not have people cheering. :goodvibes People out htere cheering means the world to me!

I have to completely agree. There was one guy I swear at the 1 mile marker who was screaming "Only 25 miles to go!!" Seriously, I could have smacked him, but I would much rather have had that then no one there, at least he made me laugh. The hardest part, and best part of the people cheering was the fact that they would call out your name. The reason I say it is the hardest is because every time I heard my name I started to cry and my poor chest tightened up. "O" well, I'll take them calling my name any day!!

Hey all... just a quick skim by today. I am a bit busy at work. After my 8 miler on Friday, I didn't play online at all the rest of the week. I got in plenty of cross training by cleaning the house for DD4's b-day party on Sunday (my baby is FOUR!). My foot is feeling better, it is tender but not aching sore. I still use the frozen water bottle to roll over the arch, it breaks up the discomfort. I get my custom orthotics on Friday, then I leave town for work for 2 days... sometime after that I have to fit in a 10 mile run. My last long run before my 1/2 marathon. With all my problems, I don't feel as prepared for this race.

Christa - WAY TO BE A SPEED DEMON!!!

Kristi - I am glad you stuck with your run. Too funny about turning on the shirt. DH wore one of mine this weekend for his 5K and I saw him coming a 1/2 mile away!

Dana - It's good to see you back on the boards!!

Jeanne and Nancy - Way to finish! You gotta love passing people!!!

Sandy - When I started walk/jogging, I was doing a 17-18 minute mile and it made me cry. I never thought I would make the 16 minute pace. Really, it will come if you keep getting those miles in!

OK, gotta run, work is nuts... and it's lunch time!

Hi guys,

WE DID IT!!!!!

They just posted the official times and we both got 3:11:07 which comes out to a 14:36 pace. Not too shabby for our first event. Thanks so much for all your support....we couldn't have done it without you. As Nancy said, it was as if we had been walking together for years. The shirts that Cam lent to us were an enormous hit! People kept raving about the DLF slogan and I sincerely hope we keep that one for 2008 when will proudly have our own. It was a great day weatherwise and an absolutely beautiful course. For anyone in the area it is a wonderful event to consider for next year. Only $40 and very well organized. We got a beautiful long sleeved racing shirt, a stuffed teddy bear and lots of other goodies included in the entry fee. Plus they had about 12 -15 different music bands along the course to keep us motivated. I will post a race report on the other board later on this day. In addition to being a marathon virgin, it was my first time using a porta-potty.....I didn't want to come out because I couldn't find the flusher!

Again, thanks for the encouragement.

Lisa - I really appreciate the time you took to post - it makes sense, and I think that's where I was heading, but I really appreciate your post!!

when DH ran his firt marathon (20 years ago, the Chicago Marathon) He forgot he was wearing a sweatshirt that I put his name on - he couldnt believe all these people cheering for him - by NAME! It was sweet.

guess that means I need a shirt with my name on it - it is all about the outfit!!

Oh, & a funny for you guys! I am wearing my long sleeve WISH shirt. Chad & Zack were out doing errands and found me somewhere between mile 1 & 2. Zack asked Chad if my shirt "turned on!!!!" :lmao:

Ok, I am heading back out. I'll report back later...

Kristi - My DD6 also commented about my shirt this weekend. While I was trying to decide what clothes I wanted to pack for the Minnie race, I modeled my racing outfit for the family. My DD6 said that she couldn't look at me becuase it hurt her eyes.:cool2: She asked if it was a night time race. She thought it must be because why else would I wear a shirt that glowed in the dark.

Good afternoon everyone!

Today is scheduled XT day. Will do some upper body stuff when I get home tonight. The foot, well, it's there. I've been stretching and icing it. Just something I'm going to have to work through. No doctors just yet.

Lily – Great job with the 8 miler! :thumbsup2

Martha and Craig – Congrats on the 10K. :thumbsup2

Christa - You was smokin! :thumbsup2

Shan – Way to go! :thumbsup2

Bill – Glad to hear the family is doing well. Take care of that ankle, and glad to hear you were able to get out on the bike. I was a big Dale Sr. fan, but always liked Jeff. I knew he’d break Dale’s record eventually. Just don’t understand the throwing of beer cans. Isn’t that alcohol abuse? ;)

Cindy – Don’t tell anyone, but I didn’t do any yard work. :rolleyes1

Heather – Great job with the 5 miler! :thumbsup2

Laurie – Yeah, it was a pretty tame race for Talladega. Richmond this Saturday night. That’s normally a pretty good race.

Cam – Great job with the walk! :thumbsup2

Angie and Leana – Way to go with the 9 milers!

Lisa – Great job with the workout! :thumbsup2

Krista – Congrats to you, Steve, Hines, and mom and dad on the 5K. :thumbsup2

Dana – Way to go! :thumbsup2

Nancy and Jeanne – Congrats and great time! :thumbsup2

Judy – Row, row, row your boat. :lmao: Tony just isn’t having a good year, is he?

Jen – Glad to hear the foot is feeling better. :)

Great pics, Cindy!
And I am not too far from Groton - I wish I would have known about the race.

Cindy: what an adorable photo! The kids are just precious.....how old are they?

Cam: you will do awesome at the Minnie! We will all be there cheering you on. :cool1:

Lisa_Loves_Pooh: :lmao: OMG!! I just hadda laugh. It's not funny, and I really do feel sorry for you and totally understand. Those of us with children have been through the same thing. Stay away from the scale. Just walk away. You do NOT need to see that right now.

Krista: you have SUCH a thoughtful coach!! Always lookin' out for ya!

Dana: good luck on the training!

Nancy: AWESOME job on the half marathon!!! :thumbsup2 You should be so proud of your effort!

Jenn: glad to hear your foot is getting better. Please be careful with it!!

Cindy: LOVE the pix!! The kids are adorable.

Today was 30 min of cardio circuit. 10 min stair master, 10 min eliptical and 10 min on the bike. It was good to stretch and loosen up the legs. Tomorrow I will run 50 min at race pace, or what should be about half the Minnie distance. Then only one more day of workout before heading to WDW!!! Man, am I excited.

I hope everyone has a great evening!!!

Hey all - I have been so busy at work that I haven't had time to play on the internet. Sometimes I think I have a thankless job and it really bothers me. Anyhoo, I did 35 minutes speed walking on the TM when I got home. I didn't want to run just to make sure my foot stays OK. I am off to do some Balance Ball work in a bit.

I just made it final and have my bib number for my Green Bay 1/2 marathon on May 20. I am #4979. I saw the WDW is really filling up. My gut says do the full, but my feet say stay with the 1/2. Oh I am so torn.

Cindy - Cute pics. Are your girls twins?

Martha - I am jealous of all you Minnie-ers. I can't wait for the race results and see everyone with their medals. This weekend I get to go to a boring work training that I have to teach. I would rather be in WDW.

Cindy - What a cute family you have! Love the pics

Lisa - :lmao: :lmao: about the running saga! I totalllly understand!;)

jeanneg - :rotfl: about the port a potty!

Nancy WTG on the 1/2! You did great:cool1: !

Craig and martha - WTG on your race! Love reading the reports.

Jen – Glad the foot is feeling better.:wizard:

Krista - My JRT is a speed demon! She was pulling me the 1st half and I had to pull her the 2nd half! :wizard: to you guys on the Pig and WTG on your 5k!

Cleaned house today so no "training" for me. Sometimes you just have to suck it up and clean the house. I may have gotten out to run if DD9's room had not been so bad....something grabbed me and pulled me under the bed...I did get away though....:rotfl: Nah, JK!

Hey there WISH team!! Well, since I did my race yesterday, I planned on taking a few days of to rest. And let me tell you, I needed it!! My legs were really sore today!! I ended up having a blood blister form on one of my toes yesterday, and had to pop that because it was in a lot of pain. My quads were also really sore today!! Since I am on my feet moving around for my job all day, the soreness feels much better now, I guess from moving around a lot today! I don't plan on running until this weekend, partly because I want to rest a little but mostly because my schedule is packed this week!!

Judy--I guess there was a few at the end, but I love the BIG ones in the beginning that take out half the field! Your guy Tony can't catch a break this year!

Jeanne-Awesome job on your race this weekend!!!! Isn't it such a great feeling to finish!!

Cindy--I LOVE the photo!! How cute that all the kids ran also..that is awesome!!

I know I missed some others, but gotta get some rest!!

Hi WISH Team!

Cindy that pic is so precious!

Lisa, tee hee on the scale. I wonder if we got ours from the same manufacturer. I'm hoping that you get some relief with the girls. Try doubling up. Sometimes when I wore 2 it has helped some.

That You Tube link is soooo me right now! I am so ready!

Got my physical trainer w/o tonight. It was the last I've scheduled. Need lots more $$$ and not sure it will happen. I do love that w/o though. Now I'm going to have to take it easy for the remainder of the days and fit in that packing thing.

Oh, one more wonderful thing to share:
30 years ago today DH were enjoying our wedding day! This year we've been celebrating all year long too!

Enjoy your training everyone.

I did 30 min tonight, 2.55 for avg pace of 11:46. My first two miles were really consistent, 11:32 and 11:31, but got a cramp in the last half mile. I think I need to be more conscious of what time I go out now that the weather's icky. I left at 5:30, probably should've waited until 7 or later. Only one more run before the Minnie!

Cindy...great picture!

Laurie...congrats on your race!

Krista...thanks, but only a couple pounds. No, I'm not thinking Goofy, I want to see if I survive the full first.

Jen...it's a tough decision. The 15th anniversary medal tipped me over the edge. I don't know if I'll ever do another full, but I figured if I only do it once, this is the year. I still have moments where I'm terrified of the whole idea...I can't quite conceive of doing my 20+ mile LRs, but I'm looking forward to the challenge. It was weird last year...most of the team that I did the half with in 2006 had stepped up to the full, so it was kinda hard to be training for the half again. Whatever you decide, you'll have the whole team behind you and plenty of folks to run with either way!

Well, I think tonight's run was God's way of saying "I'm sorry" for the stonker on Friday. I had a great run--minus the heat! 3.2 ave 8:19pace. :cool1: I'm so ready to leave for the Minnie! I'm the kid in the commercial "I'm too excited to sleep!":goodvibes

Cindy--great picture! Your kids are adorable!!

Well, it's time to do a little xtraining by eating some strawberry shortcake--spoon to mouth, spoon to mouth--building those biceps!:rotfl2:
