Wk of Apr 29--WISH Walking/Running Club

Bekkiz - What a great accomplishment! You are making such progress.

Eeyore45 - Plantar fascia pain generally hurts most in the heel, but sometimes along the bottom of the foot. Mine hurt worst when I would get up in the middle of the night or first thing in the morning - when I first put weight on it I'd feel like there were knives shooting through it. Great job on your run/wog today!

It does appear it'll be a slow weekend on the boards. I'm going to hear Jeff Galloway tomorrow morning, so I don't think I'll get my LR in tomorrow, but I printed out the map for the Minnie course and thought I might run Sunday morning along with all the Minnie runners!

Jackie

Christa - I am very relieved to hear the good news.
Big Vic - Going to the Biergarten on the 11th? I'm green with envy!
bekkiz - Awesome 2 miler and making Esteban your...well, you know, your...well you made him eat your dust! Tell him he's better off selling guitars than trying to throw down with you on the track!
Angietuck - I cannot congratulate you enough on a job well done!
disnutt - Congrats on the Goofy entry! Good Luck!
eeyore45 - Sounds like the weather we had today. Good job on the training run/wog, you're still out there!
Kiena - Have a great time at the festival this weekend, just watch where you toss your caber. As for the running kilt, I doubt it as coolmax undies wouldn't be considered "traditional" (that's why you don't see traditional scots running the hurdles).
Mike/optimator - Great job on the dedication to your training! Tear it up this weekend!

Sorry for the absence this week...LTO, WTO, etc etc etc, bu tI did get in a 3 mile run Monday night after work, a 2 mile run on Wednesday (in 18:35 no less) and a 4./5 mile walk/run with my favorite Chicago Distance Classic training partner (DW Darcey) as well.

Good luck to all this weekend especially those of us not going to Disney World, we will try to get by...somehow...where's my Ben and Jerry's?....I need to have a cry...sniff...sniff.:sad1: :sad1:

GO WISH TEAM! FLY PIGS and RUN MINNIES!
Angie! WTG on the graduation!

Have rehearsal this morning but wanted to post about my dreadmill run yesterday! 10 miles in 1:22min! Ave 8:12 MPM!:cool1: I would run on a 7 then during my rock'n songs push it to an 8...Yes I use IPOD on the dreadmill. A guy came and tried to out run me...Ha Ha Ha Ha (insert evil laugh music!) He soon gave up.:confused3

bekkiz, that is so great! Congrats on your walk!!! :yay:

Christa, I swear you must look like you're flying!

I guess I'm eventually gonna have to try running on the treadmill. We have several trips planned this summer and I'm afraid it is gonna be too hot to run outside. (Like the trip to Vegas in July!)

I can't wait to hear back from everyone racing this weekend. I hope there are lots of trip reports and pics on the Minnie, too. I'm thinking I may go for that next year! :scared1: I feel like I will always need a goal to keep motivated. :confused3

I cannot keep up (and am going to stop saying that every time I post), but had to pop in here to say:

good luck to all the minnies (I am so jealous every time I hear about others going to Disney) and flying pigs and anyone else racing this weekend!:cheer2: Ans a special cheer for Mike --good luck on your first marathon!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Christa, so glad you got good results, and fast!! Great news.

Angie, congratulations on graduating! Very impressive.:cool2:

Bekkiz, yes that is under 14 minutes. Way to go!! I am finding your progress very inspiring.:woohoo:

Okay, so now I have a small request....I ordered a W.I.S.H. shirt (and hounded poor Carrie) just so I would have one for the Long Island Marathon this Sunday. And I put it aside someplace very *special* so I would have it ready. :laundy:

So, um, anyone know where the heck I put the darn thing?! How on earth could I have lost it? Seriously, the thing glows in the dark, but it is nowhere to be found.....I am going to be pretty bummed if I cannot find it, but I have turned the house upside down and no shirt. I even (gasp) checked my adolescent son's room, and lived to tell the tale, but no shirt. So, could someone tell me where it is? Please??

Erica, the organizationally challenged.

Good morning everyone!

It's yard work day! WooHoo!!

Angie - Congrats! Very well done! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

eeyore45 - Way to go with the training! :thumbsup2

bekkiz - Great pace! Way to go! :thumbsup2

Andrew - Good training this week. :thumbsup2

Christa - Way to go with the dreadmill run. I guess that guy didn't know who he was dealing with. :rotfl:

Erica - It's in the last place you put it. ;) :rolleyes1 Good luck tomorrow.

:)

Erica - Hope you've found the shirt by now. Have you tried turning off the lights and looking for the glow? :rotfl: I keep all my running stuff together, and I have 3 of them in the same drawer - it's a wonder I can sleep at night!

Christa - I only use the MP3 on the TM too. And my speed definitely changes based on the songs. I am definitely a child of the 70's and 80's rock! BTW, if you haven't seen it already, Raleigh has a NEW full and half marathon in November... http://www.cityofoaksmarathon.com/

I just went and looked at the pix of the 5K at the Minnie. I actually teared up remembering being there last year - it was my very first race! It seems like yesterday, and then it seems so long ago too!

Went to a kickoff meeting for the local Jeff Galloway training group this morning. Got to hear Jeff - he is AMAZING! I think I'm going to join the group - will give me someone to run with on those LR's so DH won't freak out, plus I really like his theory on run/walk intervals. (I just have to break it to DH that I need to spend MORE money on this free sport...) Also decided I'm going to run the Raleigh Half in November before doing Donald - may be a little crazy if I talk DH into the ToT race too, since Raleigh is the weekend after ToT!

It's lonely on the boards today...

Jackie

I miss a week and I fall so far behind on the messages! I read them, but can't bring myself to go back again to make comments.

I had a long run (5 to 6 miles) planned for today, but I never really felt into it. I ended up just doing a comfortable speedwalking pace for 5.6 miles in 91 minutes. I guess that was better than nothing at all today. I suppose it says something when I can still do OK on an "off" day.

I feel a little envious of all of you preparing for upcoming races as my local racing season is over until fall, presumably because it is getting too hot and humid for most organizers to host an outdoor race down here (Houston area). On the other hand, I will have a wide variety of opportunities from next October through April.

Good luck with for the runners this weekend, I am looking forward to reading about your experiences.

Yeah Jackie, I saw that marathon! Cool! Are you going to be there?
It is lonely here!

Christa - I'm pretty sure I'm going to do the half. It seems crazy NOT to do it if it's in my hometown!

Jackie

Angie - Congrats :cheer2: I hope you enjoyed this special day!!!!! You certainly deserve it! :thumbsup2

Got my Lands End running skort in the mail yesterday. I love it! Hope I still love it when I run in it in a few hours, course I'm up with insomnia now so hopefully I'll get back to sleep soon. (Ya know, in time for the kids to wake me up!)

I had tried on the women's regular small at Sears and it was a tad big and the pockets hit on my hips, but this petite small I ordered fits perfect and the pockets are on my backside. (It even covers my remnant mommy belly!) Amazing how different they fit. I really should order petites all the time!

The fabric is really nice. I got the black, but if the other colors go to outlet end of summer I'm gonna get a couple more.

2:20AM?!! wow!! Thanks for the tip on the running skort for Land's End, I'll keep my eyes open!

I did 3 miles today - I was determined - I found a pedometer and clipped it on, I'm not sure how accurate the google gps is! Well, it was pretty accurate!! :rotfl: I ran 3 miles under an hour, but I had to take 2 stops!! I still maintained a slow and steady pace - not over exerting in the breathing, and that felt good. One hour seemed ok. I am going to try and keep that up this coming week. I may have to invest in better shoes...

WOOHOO TO THE RACERS THIS WEEKEND!!

Loved reading the reports!! :woohoo:

Jackie

Funny you should mention this, Jackie.....I was just in the running store on 6Forks on Saturday and saw the flyer. I am also doing the 13 Tot, but thinking of doing the half in Raleigh as my LW that week!
Hope everyone had a good race this past weekend....anxiously awaiting reports.
