Wk of Apr 2--2007 WISH Walking/Running Club

Oh, Terri!!! So sorry this happened to you :sad1: , but so glad that YOU are ok!! There was a police report showing that it was his fault, yes?..so HIS insurance will take care of it!! ::yes::

and glad that you are going to DL!! :cheer2:

I can't believe there are sooo many WISHers suffering with sickness  or injuries right now. I send you all prayers and lots of pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: May you all feel better soon!!! Do you think it could possibly be due to overtraining? I thought I read that somewhere in MFM. Hmm... :scratchin

Lynnda, Dana, Jackie, Jodi, Tiff, and others-Thanks for all the congrats about my weightloss!! :grouphug: It has really been hard doing it the right way!

I went today and tried on clothes and everything in a size 16 fit! I couldn't even wear this size in high school or when I got married. I am so loving this! I still have a long way to go since 185lbs is still a lot to haul for 13 miles. :snail: But I'm savoring my success so far. For once in my life I am proud of myself.

Goofyguy- thanks so much for the training help! :thanks: I think you're right. I should focus on training up to a 4/1 interval that way if I get tired during the 1/2 I can always fall back into my trusty 3/2 and still finish. I just find it so hard to increase the intervals. :scared: I had made it up to a 3:30/2 but when I realized my runs got slower than my 3/2 I said forget it! It took me 7 months to get from being able to only run 30 seconds at a time to a 3/2. So I guess I shouldn't expect this to happen overnight. I can't believe that I'm already completely anxious about the 1/2! I'm wanting to focus on increasing my long runs because at the beginning of the year I thought if I just added one mile per month I'd be set for 13 in January '07. So do you think I should make my Monday 3 miler the run to primarily focus on increasing my intervals? Then keep my Wednesday 2 miler as my fun run for the week and then just increase my Friday long run a quarter of a mile per week? That would make it to my 1 mile added per month goal. And for now I've got to keep it M-F with the weekend off. I've found that I need the mental break of 2 consecutive days off or I get rebellious. Plus knowing that I can have 2 days off is a great incentive to make me complete my LRs. :cool1:

Lisa- it made me sad to hear that the DL 1/2 is closed. I had secretly wanted to try for it but I didn't have enough confidence. Plus we don't have enough money right now anyways. It was still hard to hear that the 1st one ever will be going on without me. :sad1:

Terri- Sorry about the :car: crash! Aren't they the biggest inconvenience? I hope everything works out for you. At least you are safe!

Kristi- Wow, 7lbs from your final goal?!? I would be so excited if I were you. I've heard the last few are THE WORST. But I know you can do it. :cheer2: :woohoo: :cheer2:

TnTsParty- what an awesome time for a first 5k! My first was over 45 mins and I was happy! :teeth:

RunningLilo, I like your idea of adding 1/4 mile per week to the Friday long run - that keeps you well below the 10% rule and should minimize the chance for injury. Are you going to make Fridays your day for the long run from here on out? That would be a good way to train as then you would have the built in rest days afterward.

Terri, sorry about the accident but glad to hear you are not hurt. Yesterdays weather around here was really a stay in and watch movies and/or the Masters - depending on what you like.

Dana, great job!!!!!

TnTsparty - Awasome effort in the 5k!!! Does your TAG come from being a TnT member? I am an alumni from the 2006 WDW marathon with TnT.

crzy4pooh, thanks for the well wishes - DS is feeling a lot better but I am now fighting the sinus infection that moves into the upper respiratory infection but getting there. I tried out the Garmin this morning on a very hilly 5.3 mile run and was very pleased with it. I think this can be habit forming.

Hi Everyone,

I am so very glad to say that I have gone out today with my Garmin - I ran a 5k and did it in 31.57 - A little bit more time off of my last 5k which was 35.04. I'm so happy, I was a little scared that something was going to happen to me again (thank god - it didn't). Ankle felt great and now that I did so well.....I glad to have had the opportunity to rest.

Still have to check on everyone's posts.

Jodi
