Wk of Apr 16--2007 WISH Walking/Running Club

I did my 30 minute run today and it was not good. My second bad run of the week. My 5K on Saturday isn't looking too promising. My legs were stiff and I felt sluggish. I'm starting to get this tiny little pain in my heal.....don't speak the P.F. thing....that's what I'm worried about :sad2: . I'm thinking happy thoughts! Anyway....not sure of my exact time but I felt like I was running in molasses...just had zero energy.

Now Saturday is supposed to be cold and rainy for the race. Do you guys think I should take it easy tomorrow and skip KBX, maybe do some yoga or take a walk instead of an intense workout? I was hoping to finish the 5k in under 30...right now I'd be happy to finish it  .

Hey all... I have been wicked crazy at work. I am in sales and it has been quite a week... which is good because I have been in a slump. But I get home at night and just want to crash.

Yesterday I mustered out 20 minutes on the bike and a 1/2 mile wog during my lunch break. Nothing tonight because DD2 has gynastics (have you ever seen a crazy 3 year old do gymnastics??? I need to post pics).

Oh and DD1 told me the other day that she wants to practice running so she can race with me and get a medal!! She is 5!! I was reading posts here and she saw the Donald medal for the 1/2. I told her I will get one when I race and she was so jealous she almost started crying. I told her she could wear mine.

Dave - when you get your new shin stretches, can you share those with us?? I am curious. My shins ache when I run, but not afterwards. Am I not stretching enough??

OK, gotta run and do my job!

Amy - SOUnds liek you're getting your bad runs out of your system so yu can kick booty on Saturday! I'd vote for the yoga tomorrow. Good luck!!! :cheer2:

Jen - SOunds like dd needs to go for the Chicken Little medal. Those are what the kids got for their races last year. Can't guarantee that's what they'll get this year, but there is supposed to be a medal. So, sign her up!

Krista-we start at 6:30 so we will be running together :thumbsup2 Good luck with the Pig! That sounds like a fun race.

Jen-DS did the Chicken little run & got a medal this year. He even got a race photo of him crossing the finish line. There were even kids being pushed in running strollers & then taken out right before the finish line so they could run accross it. They change it every year based off a popular movie. I think the year before it was the Incredibles.

Judy-say hi to Ty for me. He's a cutie!!!

Cam- I was talking with my friend who is worried about getting swept & I told her with that heat we may be flagging down those air conditioned sweeper buses :rolleyes1 Can't wait to see you in 2 weeks!!

Honestly I no longer recommend kid races. Too crowded, too disorginazed. No limits to registrants--which means that they cannot properly predict.

My girls will do a 5K and if they can't do that, no races. But I have calculated, that we will finish much much sooner. The medal is the same for teh kids races and 5K.

ETA: the straw that broke the camel's back....

Reverse age groups--oldest kids go first (something I don't like--but hey--that is the way it is).

this year only-they let the babies go before my daughter's group. They let kids in DIAPERS---go before the 3yo's--the kids--who would need a potty after waiting around for 120 minutes for their race to start. To say we were mad is the understatement of the year. the volunteers were great--it was the stupidity of the CM's that had me going--their excuse...we have X times as many kids as last year. :confused3 :confused3 Really carried little weight with me b/c it showed that they cannot properly manage a children's event. :guilty:

Good day everyone. Stopped in to read the posts, but don't have time to respond to all today. Still busy at work.

Dave - I'll either pay the additional fee or buy a few more pairs of socks. Whichever way you want to go is fine with me.

Terri

What have you people done to me????

Is it not bad enough that you made me fly to GA to get my 20-miler in last year?

Now, I discover I'm on the Minnie mailing list! Next thing I know, I'm checking hotels and flights and trying to figure out how to convince dh we need to speond $600 to go down on Friday and come back on Sunday! (Hints that I signed up to win the free trip have gotten me nowhere BTW)

I want to know where my favorite sane, rational couch potato went!

I cannot go. I went to Disney once this year, am going to Alaska in the fall and will be back at WDW in January. Repeat with me. I cannot go. I cannot go.

Solo - If dh decides to leave me over this, do you want his ticket and entry? :rotfl:

ETA: So, you think the "You could really use a break afterr all your family's been through" would work here? I have really lost it, haven't I? :guilty:

Okay, Carrie, you got me intrigued! What "Minnie mailing list"? I have not heard a single word from Disney re: my Minnie registration. I am in a panic. Have I mentioned that before? And I have no working email address to which to make an inquiry. It keeps getting bounced back to me as non-working address.

Cam - I got a Minnie just like the Marathon updates from last year telling me that teh MInnie's 80% full BTW. I'll forward what I got.

I actually got a generic type email soliciting people to register. I sent another email to them, asking them to confirm my registration. I am starting to freak out a bit here.
Anyone have a phone number? I can't remember the number I called to request the DVC registration form. I'll go check the website again.

Okay, just got off the phone with an awesome CM named Mel at Disney sports who confirmed that DVC registrations are handled by the Track Shack in Orlando, which is the charge that showed up on my credit card statement.
He gave me a phone number and contact name at TS to call tomorrow to confirm. YEAH!!! I will feel much better tomorrow after I make sure I'm on their list.
BTW, he did say registration is almost closed for the 15K. Carrie -- ya hear that, honey? If you are seriously considering it, ya gotta get your tush in gear! :teeth: Come on, come and play with us!

Carrie - Absolutely! That's the argument I gave for taking DD15 out of school for a day and driving from NC to WDW for a weekend trip just so I could run the Minnie - and I've never run before!

Dave - I want your PT! As for the socks, I can add a couple of pairs or pay more, either way.

Cam - I got an email this afternoon from WDW Sports Marathon confirming details for the weekend, but then I didn't register thru DVC.

Judy - You'll have to give us all the scoop on Extreme Makeover. I've heard that Ty is almost never there - would love to know for sure. DD has been devastated ever since she heard that he doesn't actually do "Ty's special room!"

DD is gone until Sunday on her band trip, DH is gone until Saturday at his mom's - it's just the dog and me, and the dog is sick! I hope it's a short-lived tummy bug - I did not plan to spend my days alone cleaning up after my darling pooch. Going to head out for another mile or 1.5 mile walk - did a mile Tuesday and didn't hurt during or after, so I'm taking that as a good sign. It's either walk or go shopping - somehow every time we go to WDW I seem to justify buying new clothes...

Carrie - you freaked me out for a moment, and I thought the WDW Full Marathon in January 2007 was 80% full. I then figured out that you were talking about the Minnie. Whew... I was thinking I needed to make a decision about running the full pretty quick there.

yeah, scared the crap outta me too!!

OK, well here's my update so far, since I haven't really posted one all week.

Monday - 20 min wog
Tuesday - gym weights/20min elliptical
Wednesday - 20 min wog
Thursday - gym weights/20min elliptical

So far so good. I have excersized everyday this week. I am getting up at 6:30 everyone morning so that I can get my kids and myself out of the house early enough for a run before it gets too hot. I have it worked out perfectly too. I push the 18month old and my 4 year old rides his bike!!

Dana

Count me in on being scared. I totally thought that I had to register tonight! WOWZERS!!!!

Dave - I would be willing to buy an additional pair of socks if it helped to get the price down. I would rather gets socks for the money than pay the extra. But if that doesn't fly, then I am still in for my 2 pairs at the higher price.

Ok, OK. It's edited. Teach all you peopel to skim. ;)

Carrie--And we all know what happens when you skim!! :lmao: I think you and Scott really need to get away for the weekend. The Minnie sounds like an awesome excuse.

Dana--I've been meaning to tell you :cheer2: on being smoke free!! Yay for you! It sounds like you are really flying this week.

Amy--I've had my wonders about AI. I swear if Chris gets voted out, I'm not watching it anymore!! Good luck with your 5K on Saturday. I've never run a race in the rain, but I've ran an 8-miler in the rain. It was not pleasant!!

Hines and I did 3 miles tonight, I was planning on 4, but it was raining, so we bagged the last mile. I'm done for the week, until my 11 miles this Saturday. FUN!! :yay: :rolleyes2

Have a happy Friday!!

Morning Everyone,

Well, I am officially a WW Lifetime Member as of last night :woohoo: I did gain a couple of pounds due to the Easter holiday weekend but I'm not worried that will come off in no time.

Looks like I will be doing my MS Walk in the rain on Sunday

I'm still a little behind on my training schedule. Tonight I will have to do my 3 miles on the threadmill......not sure if I will get to do my 10 miles this weekend - the 5 mile walk is on Sunday though.....maybe I can do a 5 mile run on the threadmill Sunday (I know it isn't exactly what is needed but I want to get on with training).

I haven't really had the opportunity to read everyone's posts, hopefully I will get to do that tonight as well. :thumbsup2

Have a great day everyone,

Jodi

Hi Jodi: :wave2: Congrats on reaching your WW Lifetime goal. I must admit I don't really know what it means, but I gather from the board that it is a big deal. So congratulations. I hope your meeting went better than last time. I remember they were giving you a lot of grief last time, and I hope you didn't get that this time.

BTW: Thanks for doing the MS walk. I really congratulate you for that. Don't worry about raising the money. You are out there supporting the cause, and that is just as important. I have someone very close to me with MS and it's a cause I really care a lot about. You go girl!
