Wk of Apr 1--WISH Walking/Running Club

Laurie--- Floyd Hall Arena must be one of the newer ones that I had not been to. However, I have been to the Ice House as we played the Avalanche team that plays out of that rink. Girls hockey in this area has grown alot. I was the Hershey Jr Bears tournament coordinator for nearly 10 years and we started off at Thanksgiving with only have 1 girls division with 4 teams. By the time I left it had grown to 3 divisions with 18 teams divided among the 3 divisions. Good job on your run. We must be doing a 1/2 marathon on the same weekend 4/29.

Kristie--- I also didn't realize that Mollie was only 9, I'm sure they will show her on TV with the auditions because of the fact she is so young. The show was on last summer.

I'm glad that some people aren't whimy like me and actually ran outside in the cold and wind. I did my LW 14 miles on the TM at the gym and I felt really good doing it. I had a book that I was able to finish reading to occupy my mind. I didn't think I would be able to walk that long, but was able to complete all of it at a pace of 15 minute mile. So I feel much more confident about my upcoming 1/2, plus the fact that I can do a longer time on the TM than I everthought possible.

Hope everyone has a Happy Easter.

Nancy

Hi everyone! I am just checking in, saying hello and reporting some "non-couch potato" and "non-studying" activity.

I managed to make it to the YMCA and onto a TM today where I logged 3.1 miles in 30:58. Not earth shattering, but something. I really haven't run for a few weeks and that was at a 5K event. I also cross-trained a bit. Again, nothing like all of you Minnie ladies gearing up for your awesome weekend in the sun.

Happy Easter! Belated Happy Passover!

Hello everyone out there,

It must be close to 2 months since posting on one of these weekly threads (as stated earlier by other posters, I was a victim of Life Taking Over), but I hope I can get on track here. I even checked to make sure my name was still listed on the front of the thread. I wanted to post before this thread moved on to next week's thread.

I was able to run my target race in Dallas on April 1, the Big D Half Marathon in 2:58 beating my goal of 3 hours doing 9 minute runs with a 1 minute walk break.

Now I am dealing with the post race let down this week. I was able to get back on the treadmill today for a couple of slow miles, after a light week of post race training. I am looking at my next big target races to build on what I started last December. I have come a long way since not being able to sustain more than a pace a 1 minute walk/4 minute run since then.

I am looking towards the fall since the warmer weather down here means that the longer races are done until cooler weather returns to south Texas. Fortuntely for me, there are a series of progressively longer races (1/2 marathon, 25K, 30K) building to the Houston Marathon--which is the same weekend as the WDW Marathon. So I will probably run those in my training to next year's full marathon.

Quick drive by and I promise to catch up tomorrow:
Started doing a run/walk pace (4R/1W), by doing 3 miles in 34:30 on the TM then two sets of light dumbell workout.
Have a Happy Easter Everbody!

Nancy--Yes, I am doing the Long Branch, NJ Half Marathon on the 29th. Which half are you doing?? Floyd Hall Arena is on the campus of Montclair State University and is only about 5 or 6 years old. A very nice rink! BTW, I am so impressed that you were able to stay on the TM for 14 miles!! I dread going on the TM for even 2 or3 miles, let along 14!! Way to go!!!

Howard--nice to hear from you! Glad to hear you were able to get some training in. When is your next race--the Spring Lake Race???

tiberius--Nice job on your half marathon time! And welcome back!!

Andrew--nice job on your workout!

Happy Easter to all those celebrating tomorrow!
