Hello everyone!

For those new to us, we are a group of people who are planning to participate in walking/running events throughout the year. For most of us, the ultimate goal is to train and compete in the annual WDW Half/Full marathons. We'll also be posting news and training for various other events throughout the year. We range from beginners to triathletes. Come join us, whether you're training for an event or walking/running for fitness!

New WISH Team members. If you read one thing over and over, believe this. Being part of this team is fantastic. Part of the ride you get for the event is what I call the roller coaster. There will be lots of ups and downs. The more you post here, the more you will find yourself enjoying the ride. It is an incredible journey. Don't be afraid, shy or whatever to come here and just post up anything. You don't have to know us right away, or all of us at all. You will get to know some of us. It makes the event you are enjoying have MORE meaning and we love to have you.

Just getting in before the thread goes nuts!
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! It is hard to believe the end of the year is drawing close and that January is just around the bend!

I had a hard month keeping up with my training in November, just a bunch of reasons, not feeling well, sick child, etc. I am trying to get back on track. This week I have an 8 miler as my long run, I've only gone up to 7 in the past. I know I can do it but gosh on the treadmill it can be sooooo dull. Might need to rent a movie or something for this one.

Have a great week all!

Good Sunday Morning...

Hello.... Hello.... Hello....

Echo, echo, Is there anyone in here??

Testing 1, 2, 3....

Where is everyone??

Oh Well, I'll just talk to myself.....
I did 8 stonker miles this morning. Was just not feeling it and almost chucked the Garmi. It wasn't giving me the pace I thought I was going and always said a slower pace, I was getting angry. Oh Well, it's over and done with. I guess the bit of dancing I did last night at a wedding in heels probably didn't help me much.

Hope everyone is doing fine and recovering from the Turkey day festivities. I am almost done with decorating for the holidays.

Tracy

While putting up Christmas Decs, I put together all the Sants Mickey's. I have 4 and my Mom has one.

Aren't they just too cute for words????:confused3 :lmao:

Um, Tracy, Riverdancing in heels does not count as crosstraining. :lmao: Stonker or not, you got in 8 miles. Yeah girl!

I did 11 easy miles. 9:10 pace. I tend to lose signal on my Garmin when I'm in Kapiolani park underneath trees, and going up Diamondhead both ways out and back. Never consistent with my readings, but it's close enough.

A very large group of about 200 people showed up for the next to last talk by Doctor Scaff. Lots of people who have been AWOL are all now trickling back in. Some don't have a good base mileage under their belts, so they will suffer some on the marathon.

Have a relaxing Sunday everyone.

Hi everyone! Can't believe we're at the end of November already! I had planned to run 8 miles on Saturday but my knees weren't cooperating and I ended up walking a lot. I would basically run the distance between fire hydrants before they would start screaming at me. I tried to go as far as I could and I made it 10K before calling it quits. If it had been the summer, I would have just walked the remaining 2 miles but it just wasn't comfortable in my sweaty clothes with the wind. I tried to go out this morning and same thing again so I didn't get to do 4 mile run either

Guess I'll have to get my PT to look at it tomorrow.

Tracy - WTG on the 8 miles! :cheer2: The Mickey Santa ball is too cute!

Allyson - I use to love running on the TM until I actually went outside. I have to agree with you on the boring part. I always find myself watching the clock when I'm on.

Jeff - Sometimes I get the feeling people think that marathon training can be like cramming for a test last minute. Doesn't quite work that way does it?

Have a great day everyone!

Vicky Your run sounds like my run. Was hoping to do 9 miles today. Managed about 5 before I just lost it. It was windy, I was laboring from the start and my knee/leg/hip just let me know it was there. Did a little run then walk fro another mile or two and went home.

Tracy Love your Mickeys! And ditto on stonker miles.

Jeff You mean you can't just train for the marathon like "Run, Fat Boy Run" (in 3 weeks!)?

Tomorrow is my B-Day (capital B since it is the "L" one----Roman numerically-speaking). I am going to the doctor for another consult on the ITB, treating myself to new shoes, lunch and chocolate.

Have a good evening all.

Maura

Good Evening Team,

Just catching up on my long/short 4 day weekend. Man has it flown bye. Yesterday I got in a 9 miler at about a 10:40 pace and today I got in 13 Miles at 2:28 minutes. I was really dragging on my run today and was really thankful when it was over.

Here is my quick race report for the Flying Feather I ran. I also got to meet DianeL while at this race so that was pretty awesome.

Tracy - LOVE the Mickey's. Congrats on fighting through those 8 miles with the Garmin issues to boot. Can't wait to get mine for Christmas. :thumbsup2

Maura - Happy Birthday :bday:

Jeff I can't even imagine how beautiful those runs of yours are. 11 Miles nice job. :cool1:

Hi, WISHfriends!

Allyson-I hear you on how hard November was. I'm kicking my own butt at the moment. Can't wait to see you in January!

AlohaJeff: It always sounds like such a beautiful, scenic run when you do it.

RacyTracey: I love the Mickeys! And don't listen to Jeff--dancing in heels is too cross-training! :cool1: And 8 miles is 8 miles, which is 8 more than I did today!

Maura: Happy Lth Birthday! Enjoy yourself! :cheer2:

AFM, my back still hurts. I alternate between resting it and stretching it, especially since I know I overdid last week. I did a 90-minute dance class tonight (for a school show I'm doing as a faculty member). My back is so sore, but i had fun. And DH made dinner for me tonight, so that was supercool (crab legs!).

I'm debating flying in on Thursday night instead--I'm having a hard time finding a good flight, and I don't think we can get a room for a good rate, either. i'll make up my mind quickly, though. By this week, I guess.

I'm so excited! :-)

Maura - :bday:

Jeff/Vicky/Maura - Apparently you CAN cram for a marathon. How many Goofy's has Howard (KeenHo) completed while not training until the semester ended in December? :lmao:

Tracy - Love the Mickey's!

Must have been the weekend for stonker runs. DH and I did an 8K Turkey Trot on Thursday - first time I've run in 3 weeks since I've been sick. Thought I was sufficiently recovered, and we did okay - went out a little too fast and almost died during the 3rd mile, but recovered enough to finish under last year's time. Then went out Saturday to do 10 miles with the Galloway group, and realized long before the 2 mile mark that whatever had been in my chest had not cleared up and that I'd really been lucky to get through Thursday's race. DH and I shortened the route and ended up doing 6.2, and I felt rotten the rest of the day. I have a marathon in 6 weeks, I still can't breathe, and my longest run so far is 16 miles! :scared1:

Jackie

Sorry to hear about those stonkers, but good thing they are happening now instead of at the event!

Went shopping and think that should count for XT. Tried on a lot of things before deciding to buy. Definitely good XT.

Hello everyone. I start my training for the princess 1/2 tomorrow. My feet were really hurting after the 8k in Philly last weekend. It wasn't PF issues, but it was a pretty bad pain along the outside of each of my feet. Standing and walking were really tough for me. When I was home, wearing my beach crocs helped since standing in bare feet was not easy. I plan on taking it easy and getting them checked out if they start bothering me this week.

It snowed today, so my girls built their snowmen out on the front lawn.

Following that, we went to the farm to pick out our Christmas tree. Note in the photo that we had to put on our winter clothes and snowshoes due to the cold temperatures here...

Hey everyone,

Jeff, Tracy love the photos!!! Jeff you have a beautiful family.

Training is going great. I can not believe how close we are!!!!!

Morning everyone! Today's a training/gym day for me - I'll have to go in and ask my PT if he can do a little ART on my knee instead of stretching. Back out tomorrow for a 4 miler.

Maura - Happy birthday!! Sounds like you have a great day planned! Have some chocolate for me - I'm trying to make sure I lose some weight before January.

Jeff - The pics don't show up at work so I'll check it out when I get home. Did it really snow? :)

Kim - Glad to hear the training is going well! Did you get a lot of snow Sunday night? It mostly rained in Toronto - so much for the big storm that was predicted.

Megan - I had the same foot pain after running my 1/2 in September. I asked my PT about it but I can't remember what he said it was. It went away after he gave me a foot massage though

Jackie - I hear ya on the LRs! My longest has been 7 miles and I feel like I'm a little behind. I'll be happy as long as I can do 10 by the third week of December.

Lily - I think it should count as XT. Lots of walking right? :)

I guess that's all for now! Have a great day everyone!

Jeff - SOrry., although I hate driving in it (or avoiding the idiots taht can't drive in it), I can't fathom not gettign my Xmas tree from snow-covered ground.

Maura - Happy birthday!!!!!!!! FYI - We'll be startign our 18-miler around 8 am Saturday at Kensington. Feel free to join us for all or some of it. FOund out this wekend that they actually plow and salt all but teh 1 - 1.5 mile stretch by teh highway. Best place we've got to run right now, even if it is 2.5 hours away.

Tracy - Cute pic!!

Duckie - SO good to see you! SO sorry about the problems you're having. :(

DId my 8-miler Saturdya. It stunk, but I don't think shopping Friday and lack of hydration helped.

I know I missed many. My brain's power of retention has dwindled greatly. :guilty:

Hey friends.
I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving.
Just checking in before my crazy week really gets going. Long run on Friday will be 9 miles and I really hate this cold weather! :scared:

Ran the Gobble Jog 10K last Thursday and beat last year's time. That was my goal, even if it was by just a few seconds. I'm pleased since I took off four months this summer for my knee and unrelated surgery.

Garmin said 1:05:52, pace 10:33, but official time says 1:06:02, pace 10:38. Still better than last year. Last year it was 1:08:08, pace 10:59. They only had a timing mat at the finish, I guess I should have moved myself up closer to the start. DH ran it in 53:06, pace 8:33. He was a tad disappointed, but still that gets him a chip for the Peachtree and I'm happy cause I'll probably get in the first group behind the timed runners again this year. I really want to run the Peachtree cause I had to give my bib away last year cause of my surgery.

Should I bother showing my new time at the WDW Half expo? They have my Gobble Jog time from last year. Would the two minutes make any difference in where I'm placed? :confused3

Have a good week WISHers. Stay warm! (And Jeff, I know you're already warm! ;) )

Hey fellow WISHers!! I know I have been slackin (and most of you probably have no clue who I am cause I am never on here!!) but I am gonna try to post at least once a week. Marathon weekend is coming up so fast and I am looking forward to meeting more WISH friends!

I convinced my DH to run the full with me and I am so excited to have a running partner this year! This will be his first race ever - so he is really nervous. If you meet him in January, please offer words of encouragement to him.

Shan - Way to go on the turkey trot!! That is speedy!

Jeff - as always, love your pictures!

Have a great week everyone!

Becky

Aloha Vicky, Kim, Carrie, Becky, & Shan :wave2:

Sending you all warm thoughts from my tropical island in the Pacific. :beach:

Becky...welcome back!

Maura...Happy Birthday!!!

Carrie...DH is doing 18 this weekend. You guys could come down and join him...I promise no snow, though we do have some white sandy beaches where you could run.

Shan...congrats on your race!

I'm hangin' in there. Did 5 miles while in Gainesville last weekend, 3 miles tonight on the TM. I may have to adjust my PR goals. I'm keeping up my mileage but the speed's just not there like I'd hoped. I'm fairly content with my training right now though. Looking forward to 9 miles this weekend!

Good training everyone!
