Hello everyone!

For those new to us, we are a group of people who are planning to participate in walking/running events throughout the year. For most of us, the ultimate goal is to train and compete in the annual WDW Half/Full marathons. We'll also be posting news and training for various other events throughout the year. We range from beginners to triathletes. Come join us, whether you're training for an event or walking/running for fitness!

Good Morning Team: :surfweb: I'm going to try to stay in touch with my friends over here a little more. I can't guarantee that I can keep up with the fast moving thread, but I'll try.

Yesterday, I had an 8.67 mile LR through deep slush and snow. It was tough sledding and slow going. It took me almost 90 minutes for over a 10 mpm pace. I had to stop and walk often because my legs were tired from running in the snow. I also had to walk to get out of the way of cars and snow plows.

Jeff- I need to come run in Hawaii. You probably don't have to deal with the winter wonderland. Thanks for starting the thread.

Well I've always viewed the trek to my family home in Massachusetts and back to Michigan again as a marathon, so it is only fitting that my solo drive to MA yesterday took 13.1 hours--no kidding. The weather stunk from Schenedctady to Danvers, but for once the border crossing was not an ordeal.

So at least I'm here and now it's time to go XT--dog walking in the snow!

Have a great Sunday, all!

Maura

I am from Collegeville PA, and wish I had found you sooner. I have been training alone all year (18 mi yesterday in 30 deg chill) with little outside encouragement and am looking forward to meeting many of you at the marathon weekend.:yay:

Welcome Goofy393! Can't wait to meet you in a few weeks (YIKES, it's getting close!)

As for me, I won't be reporting much this week. I am going to Jamica for Christmas. Where it's suppose to be 80 degrees and SUNNY! YES!

Still sore from the horrid run yesterday, but not too bad.

Dave - Sounds like my run yesterday. I had on a pair of Ice and Snow grips on my shoes and I still felt like I was off balance. I really wasn't use to it so I got tired pretty easily - ended up taking lots of walking breaks. Too many actually because I really started to get cold, especially my hands.

Jackie - Sorry to hear about Mystic

Goofy393 - :welcome:

AFM - It's warmer today but there haven't been any road or sidewalk ploughs by my neighbourhood yet. I will probably do my 5 miles on the TM.

Dave,

This was 5:46 pm Saturday from my lanai.

I'm headed out to my Honolulu Marathon Clinic's last talk & run of the year, followed by a picnic. My two Princesses are riding bikes while I run. I'll post photos of Waikiki area this afternoon.

Hi Goofy! I'm just over in Eagleville. Not too far from you at all. I'm still relatively new to running. Nice to see somebody who is so close by.

Hello WISHers!!

Jeff: My wild and crazy friend - thanks for starting the weekley thread!! Nice photo. BTW the tree needs lights/ornaments and a star!!

Dave: Just think how much easier it will be in FL running, no snow to slow you down. You'll be flying over the course!!

Maura: So sorry about the 13.10 hours of driving - UGH! I can barely stand 9 hours.

Goofy393: :welcome: We're always glad to meet new people. Please, Please come by and introduce yourself on race morning. Just look for bright lime green shirts with WISH on them over by the W tent. Maybe you could come by the WISH meet at the POP Century Food Court area on Friday around 4:30pm.

Carol: Have a blast in the Bahamas - could've just come down here to S.FL high today was 81 degrees!!

Vicky: I hoping sending you some pixiedust: will help the ploughs to come your way!!

AFM: I did my 13.10 miles (half before the half) this morning. Relaxed with some chocolate milk after that. Did my "ice bath" in the 68 degree water of my pool. Now I am official TAPER. Yeah me!!

Have a good Sunday everyone!!

Hi, everyone.

My training sucks. We've had terrible weather, I'm over-extended with a school production that is on Tuesday, I've spent today baking cookies (with DH who is really impatient with cookie baking), and my uncle just called to tell me that he is bringing two more people to Christmas eve dinner. That means that the dinner I planned and shopped for, for seven people, is now for TWELVE people. Of course, we are doing seafood (which is why I think we have extra guests), but it is getting very expensive. I'm also doing the dinner for Christmas day and am ready to cry at this point.

I suppose I need to look over my menu, make adjustments, and start assigning people to bring stuff.

Hope everyone is having a good Sunday.

Duckie

Just a quick drive-by. I should be upstairs getting the Christmas tree finished.
Goofy393 – Welcome!!!!!!
I finally got my long run in yesterday. Since my training has been lacking I decided to do 16 miles today. What fun on the treadmill since they have them maxing out at 60 minutes per use. I wound up getting in 16.87 miles when all was said and done. I actually got a non-race PR today and took 13:32 off my San Antonio PR and broke the 3 hour mark by 52 seconds. My knees are a little stiff right now and I got a couple of blisters on my feet. Some dummy forgot to Body glide his feet.

Wow! What a deal we got. The first annual Crocs sale was awesome.

The regular style were $5 for kids sizes, $10 for adult sizes. Specialty styles like the fur lined, and "Topsider" styles were $15. Every make was available except Disney Mickey Ears sold at the parks. T-shirts were $3.

At least 300 people were there during the hour we shopped around. Great Christmas presents if you knew the sizes to buy for family and friends.

The lowdown from the company rep was, new models are being released in 2009, so they are clearing out all their current inventory.

We got 6 pairs, two t-shirts for a total of $61. :woohoo:

Well we had to go back today and check if the sale got any better. Let me tell you, it did.

The original style Crocs dropped from $10 to $5. The "dress" shoe style for my daughter went from $5 to $3. I couldn't pass up on those deals so we got more.

This time we got 9 pair for $51.

Hey team.

I got in about 5 miles with my two Princesses riding their bikes with me. They really slowed me down.

Afterward's, our clinic had a great picnic with way too much food. Just what the doctor ordered.

Jackie,

I should have ordered a case of small, medium, large, and extra large WISH Crocs. But shipping them to WDW would have eaten up all the profits, and likely cost me some chump change. :lmao:

As of 12/22/08

18 days to the 5K
19 days to the half
20 days to the full

Jeff- are Crocs made in Hawaii or something? I'm so jealous.

Not much news here except snow, snow, and more snow. Schools are closed today, and the New York Thruway is closed too. Maybe I'll try to get out and do some running loops around the neighborhood.

Jeff, I'll definitely join others in the Croc envy. I never liked the original style, but I love the "flip-flop" style -- the double-thick heel is just what the doctor ordered (literally) for my Achilles tendonitis. By the time I added the flight to Hawaii to the price of my Crocs, though, I guess it wouldn't have been such a good deal. ;)

Haven't read the posts from last week's thread yet (working, working, family, working, church, working...) but I barely survived my 20-miler over the weekend. It's good that I've actually completed a marathon before (one a little over a month ago, in fact) because my last long "run" (walk) certainly didn't contribute to my confidence level in my upcoming Goofy. :sad2: I had a great time at the Run to Victory Half the first week in December and thought meeting Jeanne, her DH, and Jackie for the "20 on the 20th" would pretty much be a moving party for me. Instead, for reasons I cannot fathom, after about 10 miles I felt exhausted and it was all I could do to simply finish the 20. Not at all what I expected, and really quite disturbing. I'm trying to shake it off though and I'll focus on getting some rest and some quality shorter distances in over the next couple of weeks. That's what makes the marathon a challenge -- you never know what the day will bring.

Happy training, all! Can't wait to see everyone!!!

Just wanted to let everyone know that Mystic has crossed over the Rainbow Bridge and is in a much more peaceful place now. Me, not so much, but I'm coming around. Thanks for all your support - will be counting the days till marathon weekend and my "Happy Place!" After that, we'll be looking for the right dog who needs a home...

I'm so, so sorry Jackie. Please accept all my sympathies with your loss. You were such a good Mom to Mystic.
