QUACK!
Hi, all.
The five extra family members who invited themselves to Christmas eve dinner that I was making, thus triggering a last-minute change of menu, complained about the dinner.

DH says maybe they will think twice before inviting themselves again.
Last week into this week I had serious late-night obligations at school. I was cross-training with a dance routine, including lots of practice and stretching. LOTS of stretching. Today I did 4.4 miles outside. It was 43 degrees when I started and about six degrees less when I finished. I couldn't feel my chin by the end. The last mile I left it all out there--really moving, and I think I was well ahead of my usual pace. When I was walking, right up until the end, I felt like I could keep walking for a long time. However, once I stopped, my legs felt super heavy. I came home and spent 20 minutes stretching my legs/groin/hips. I'm hoping to get six in tomorrow and LSD on Sunday of 10 miles or so. Then just 4 and 5 miles scattered for the next two weeks.
If anyone has a suggestion on an affordable pace tracker, I'd love to hear it. I wanted to buy DH a Garmin but I am not permitted to spend $300+ he said.
And now, in no particular order:
Aloha Jeff, I really need to get to Hawaii. Looks amazing. Can't wait to see you in TWO WEEKS!
Tricia, good job getting those steps in! And on a TM! Do you use an iPod to make the time go by, or watch tv? And the kittens are so cute!
Jackie, congrats on the newest member of the family. And I'm so glad your vet went out of her way to set your mind at ease. It's hard to leave pets at the Rainbow Bridge, but I'm sure Mystic is glad to see you making a new friend.
Debra, I hurt my back two days before Turkey Day and it has hindered my training. I'll be walking the half--not that I had any plans to run in the first place. I can't wait to see your photos!
John (and Karen), we're supposed to have mild weather this weekend if you're looking for some final outdoor long slow days. The 60s! Woohoo! See you in two weeks!
Becky, as long as your coughing, take it easy (so says my dr). You have two weeks--I'm sure you'll be stronger by then. Don't try to do too much--you don't want a relapse! We'll be cheering you on for the full!
Allyson, isn't it strange how hard it is to be motivated this close to the race? I blame the cold weather. We'll be walking at Mickey's house before we know it!
Stacie, enjoy Mexico! Woohoo!
Laurie, new running clothes! Someone was good this year and Santa noticed!
Krista, you must be so excited to have the time to spend with Carter!
Tracey, only two more weeks!
