WK of 14 December - WISH Walking/Running Club

Jeff: You PRed with nearly half being at a walk?! You must have been bookin' it the first half!

Yep, my old PR was 5:20:__ in 2006. This was a new PR at 5:11:49. About 9 minutes off my 2006 time. My goal was 4:00-4:10, before my legs gave up on me.

I ran this race fast. 2:04:48 for the half, and walked 11 miles in in 3:07:01, cramping several times along the way.

So yes, with walking I still was able to turn in a PR. Pretty funny if you ask me.

And Claire, yes, two pairs of shoes for Goofy. I always bring two.

Good Morning everyone!

Hope you have finished your holiday shopping as the weather over large parts of the US looks YUCKY! (Jeff, of course will be glad to provide proof that he lives in Paradise :) )

I did 9.5 miles with my Galloway Group this morning.... And this was my worst run EVER!!! I started with the faster group and I think that was an error. At about half way I had to drop. Luckily another woman did too so one of the leaders moved with us and we went back to the 2/1 pace. The speed, humidity and HILLS did me in. I feel like I have been hit by a truck! YUCK!

However, this really was my last long run before Disney so I guess I am glad I did it!

Off to Jamica Monday for for Christmas! Where it's in the 80s and sunny!

Have a good Saturday!

Hello All my wonderful WISHers!!!!!

This time in 3 weeks, those of us that are doing the Half Marathon will be walking (or maybe limping) around at the parks showing off our "new" Donald Medals!!!

Yeah Us!! It is going to be so great. With more people on the course this year for the half and starting at a spot further back in the parking lot/road area of EPCOT with a slight change in the course route, it should be interesting!!

Hope everyone is coming along with their training and their miles. Please take care of yourselves and don't push anything if you are suffering with any kind of injuries!

AFM: I did an easy 4 miles this morning. On my route back home (I do an out and back route) I saw a SUV that was "parked" in the middle of traffic near an intersection. As I got closer (the intersection is where I turn to head home) I could see a lady with two small kids on the side walk. I felt bad so I headed in that direction. A car pulled up behind the SUV and put on his flashers. I decided to keep heading that way, not sure if the lady knew the guy. I saw the lady and kids getting into the SUV and then guy behind it and I realized he was going to push the SUV to the side turning lane so it wan't in the middle of traffice. I ran up just he started pushing and helped him get it moving. The lady was very thankful. The guy reminded her to put on her flashers (she didn't have them on before). I then went to the drivers door and asked her if she was ok and she said she was and that she heard a loud thump and her car stopped working. I asked if she had a phone and she said she did and had a mechanic on the way. I reminded her to maybe stay in the SUV, with flashers on and be safe and off I ran. Kinda felt like a little holiday helper with my green wish shirt and visor on.

I have my Half before the Half 13.1 miles tomorrow, hopefully should go well.

Let you know how it goes.

Sorry haven't caught up with everyone, things are a bit busy with life and I am stuck on reading the VERY addictive Twilight series. I started two weeks ago and I am on the third book already!!!!!!!!

Racey TracyLou!
ps - don't forget that if you want a nametag for the WISH meet on Friday, please find the link in my sig at the bottom.

Way to go Tracy.

Exercising, and pushing vehicles in the same workout. You rock!:thumbsup2

Jeff, I thought about you on my long run.

The subdivision we ran through (and got lost in) had street names like Hawaii, Diamond Head etc. Views however... not so good! Basic Atlanta homes LOL!

Hi everyone! Once I again I tried to go out for that elusive 9 mile run and didn't make it. It was downright chilly this morning (-12C or something like that). I doubled up on everything - tights, socks, shirts... I forgot about my hands though and the running gloves I had on weren't able to keep my hands warm enough. My mile 6, they were hurting so badly I had to turn around and go home. :( So it looks like the longest run I'll get in is 9 miles - I'll give it another shot next weekend. My short runs on the weekdays are going well - I'm able to run at a faster pace without stopping.

Tracy - You sounds like Superwoman pushing cars!

Carol - Have a fun trip! I sure could use some of that warm weather!

Have a great Saturday everyone!

Finished 20 miles this morning with Jeanne and Wendy. WISHers are the best! Thanks to both of them for getting me through it!

This was the most difficult run/walk I've ever done in my life - not only was it the longest distance I've ever done, while doing it I was making the very difficult decision with the vet and family members that we're going to have to put Mystic down. Will have to wait until Monday when the vet reopens, but we've done as much as we can and they still have no idea what is wrong with her without doing much more complicated - and expensive - testing, and even then the chances are that whatever is wrong is terminal anyway. So the weekend is gonna be a little rough...

Thanks again to Jeanne and Wendy - they had to endure an awful lot with me this morning!

Jackie

Jackie- I'm sorry to hear that you have to put Mystic down. That is so, so sad. I'll my best.

Jackie: Sorry to hear that they can't seem to find out what's going on. Can be frustrating and rough. My best to you and your family. I know how hard making the decision can be, I have a fastly aging 14yo dog.
My prayers and thoughts go out to you.

Tracy

Jackie,

Enjoy your remaining time with Mystic. It's hard to say goodbye, but even more difficult to watch them suffer longer than they should. We're all thinking of the two of you.:grouphug:
