Hello everyone!

For those new to us, we are a group of people who are planning to participate in walking/running events throughout the year. For most of us, the ultimate goal is to train and compete in the annual WDW Half/Full marathons. We'll also be posting news and training for various other events throughout the year. We range from beginners to triathletes. Come join us, whether you're training for an event or walking/running for fitness!

New WISH Team members. If you read one thing over and over, believe this. Being part of this team is fantastic. Part of the ever to come here and just post up anything. You don't have to know us right away, or all of us at all. You will get to know some of us. It makes the event you are enjoying have MORE meaning and we love to have you.

Oh wow I am the 1st one after the starting message (Thanks Big Vic)

I really should be already started with my 18 miler but as usual I am procrastinating. I had to print out my marathon course map so I can tape it on the TM. For some reason I do not like to do these long runs outside (even though its a nice day temperature wise) I just don't like to be away from the house for that long by myself (I wouldn't feel that way if I was in my truck but by myself running I do) I don't have that fear when I was running with my group - so that was probably the worst thing I could have done by quitting the group - just couldn't afford to pay for another session. At the marathon I won't feel by myself either so I am mentally ready to run outside - its just by myself for that many miles I don't like to do.

Oh well better hop on that TM for the next couple of hours.

Hello All! I am getting ready to go out and do my 8 miler. Seems it is about 32 degrees right now. *shiver*

I'd have a hard time being on the TM for that long to... Good luck!

Stacie

Well, its 3:07 am, Hawaii Standard time.

I'm up, had breakfast, and about to slather up the bones with Bodyglide and Vaseline. Must mean I have a 26.2 training run today.

It poured all day Saturday, and it's raining lightly now. I expect to be puddlejumping today.

I'll check back in this afternoon.

Hope all goes well today Jeff!

I'm just back now from my 8 miler. 14:56 avg pace. Very good for me. I think it's about my fastest one yet... I'm going to try to slow it down a bit for the 12 miler as I don't think I can push that hard for 12 miles. At WDW for the Half...maybe, but the for the 12 local miles...not so sure. I just want to get them done.

Hope everyone is having an enjoyable Sunday!

Stacie

Good morning team!!!!

Stacie: WTG on your pace

Jeff: Good luck today

TnT: Did you get your 18M done?? That would be tough on the TM. I only use mine as a very last resort.

Have a great Sunday all

Yep got my 18 miles done on the TM. Its not as boring as you would think. I at least have a TV right in front of me. I also tape the marathon route on my TM and each mile I go I figure out where I would be during the marathon. The back of my legs (are those my hamstrings?) really start to bother me after I get past the 13 mile mark. I am really thinking this will be my one and only full marathon (ask me again Jan 12 - LOL) I like the half marathon and shorter distances better.

I am not happy with my time today on my 18 miler but I am never happy with my time on the TM. Oh well I am just planning on finishing any time will be good with me.

Copied from the race report thread.

Well, the good news is I PR'd!!! 5:11:49.

I was feeling in the groove through mile 15 1/2, and then the legs said that's enough and cramped up on me. I ended up walking the remaining 11 miles back to the finish, and whenever I attempted to run the cramps returned.

Oh well, it was a training run for next month.

Rain was falling the first 12 miles, then it faded to a drizzle. Finally around mile 20 the sun popped out, and made it hot and humid.

Got my shirt and medal, and the family picked me up.

Took my ice bath, threw everything in the laundry, and I am ready for lunch!

Three other things I am happy about, no chaffing, 10 toenails, and I can walk down stairs normally without holding onto the handrail.

Robin B. from Massachusetts, went chugging by me around mile 14. I looked to my right, and saw the only other DR Storming the Castle hat on the course. She didn't see mine, so she must have been in a zone. I had to yell at her "Nice hat" before she looked over her shoulder and saw me. That was pretty funny! We exchanged high-fives, and that was the last I saw of her.

Hope everyone is having a good Sunday.

Aloha Oe.

Hi everyone! Just popping in to say hi. :wave2:

My training is going so-so. I won't be breaking any speed records, but hopefully I'll feel good when I finish the race. Walking normally will be a blessing.;)

Work is still crazy due to the economy. Budget cuts are hitting hard, worse than originally thought. I'm pretty sure my job is safe, but overall staff morale is at an all-time low.

Jeff - sent a post on the tattoo thread, in case you have any left.

I hope to be checking in more frequently, but it never seems to work out that way.

Happy training! :goodvibes

Hey my WISH family!!

Back from visiting my friend Mickey Mouse at WDW!!!!
Had a great time and met up with an old friend who works at HS!! Weather was very nice. Got a great score on Buzz, actually you could call it a PR!! (hehe)

Buzzscore.jpg

Yes, that is MY score and it does say 999,999 which I got by the time I was in the second room so I started using the other gun and got an additional 125,000!!

I got in two practice rounds at TSM. Very hard to get practice anything on that. Just a heads up for anyone really WANTING to go on this ride. Get there early to ride it standby and get there early to get a fast pass or they will run out!!!!

Take care everyone and hope the training is coming along great. I got a 8 miler in today before leaving POP. I have a 13.1 on tap for this coming Sunday and then I taper!!

Tracy

I am really thinking this will be my one and only full marathon (ask me again Jan 12 - LOL) I like the half marathon and shorter distances better.

I am so with you on that. I even told my doctor last week that this will be the only marathon I do - going back to halfs (halves?) after this one. My body just isn't cut out for the longer mileage.

Jeff - Great job today. Sorry about the cramping, but if you PR'd even with the cramps, what in the world are we gonna do with you in January? :worship:

Stacie - Great job!

Terri - Hope work hangs in there. I'm in a similar situation - they won't let us replace anyone who leaves, and it's getting tougher and tougher to get the job done. We have a key employee leaving right after marathon weekend, and we're going to have to get very creative to figure out how to do his job.

Finished day 3 of the prednisone high. Have done more laundry and cleaned more of my house than I ever thought possible, plus have half of next week's meals already prepared! I'm ready to crash tonight though - need to get in a run tomorrow to remind my body that there's more to life than long runs on the weekend.

Jackie

Hi all!

No running for me today. Off to the Dr for yet another lung & sinus xray. My dh is concerned that I am not recovering like I should and wants proof that my lungs are clear before I do my last two long runs. Unfortunately, he rides bikes with my Dr and she agreed. I am kind of hoping she gives me another steroid shot - I have a lot of laundry to do!

Jeff! Way to go! Awesome job! Now get recovered so you can rock at Goofy!

Tracy - my kids were amazed by your score! What fun.

TNTsParty - I almost jealous of your long run. Glad you feel good!

Cecilia

Good morning everyone!

Jeff hasn't post the countdown yet to make us nervous this week!

Sorry you had a roungh race Jeff, but a good time! You always put a good spin on things.

Today is suppose to be cross training with the strech and strengthen class at my Y.

Have a good week eveyone!

Jeff- Way to go sticking it out on teh marathon. Walking 11 miles sounds awful. And rain? Yuck!

Jackie - Hope teh cras isn't too bad. never had to do steroids, but have seen what it deos to friends. not fun.

Cecelia - Oh no. Hope those xrays show clear lungs adn i really hope you feel 100% very soon!!!

Terri - Such a hard time. Glad your job is safe, but I can't imagine how hard it is to see the otehrs. DH is watching the same thing and it's taken its toll on him :grouphug:

Tracy - lol. My buzz score is pitiful. I have fun, but it's way sad. DH can't ride it, though, so I don't ge to do it often for practice. If lines are short, I'll go on my own, but it's not worth leaving him alone fro too long in my eyes. I'll just dream of maxing out someday. lol.

Tricia - Congrats on finishing your 18-miler. That is my least favortie distance.

Did 8.5 this weekend. I'm tired of the cold adn wind and really dreading my 20-miler.

OMG, taped the WI ironman a week or so ago. Watched it lst night. The last place finisher looked liek a WISHer (just a regular person, not a pro). Not the body that people considerathletic. Brought tears to my eye to see her. Very cool.

Cecilia - Did 8 loads of laundry this weekend while on the first couple of days of steroids to clear up my lungs! :laundy: Plus scrubbed the bathtub, mopped the kitchen, ran 10 miles on the TM (with dr's okay), made 2 batches of fudge and a pot of soup. I know it's not good for your body, but every now and then it's really nice to have the extra energy surge!

Tracy - I did that Buzz score once (there's some magic spot in the first or second room that I've never found since) and DH and DD couldn't believe it. I NEVER score well on that game! I wasn't smart enough to take a picture though, so I have no proof!

Carrie - If you want a really slow 20-miler, come on down this weekend. I'm planning on walking it with a WISH group! Based on my lack of training, I still haven't decided how I'm doing the marathon - all walk, walk/run, run/walk, or crawl! :rotfl:

Just got back from a scary visit to the vet. :scared: Mystic hadn't eaten for a week, but she's been drinking water like she thought it was going to run out, in addition to throwing up anything she tried to eat. After $$$$ of lab work and xrays, the doc thinks it's some strange bacterial infection in her liver and stomach, so we have antibiotics for the next week. Fortunately they ruled out more serious things (hence the big $$$), so I'm at least relieved about that, just broke!

Jackie

Jackie,

Hope you and your pup feel better soon! :wizard:

Same goes for you Cecelia.

Carrie way to get it done in any type of weather! :cool1:

Shannie, Kimmer, Terri, Tracy, Stacie, and the rest of the gang.

Carol

24 days to the 5k
25 days to the half
26 days to the full

Jackie - I owuld love to come down. sigh.... We have not one Xmas decoration up, though, and still have a lot of shoppign to do. Add in [lanes fares adn it's a no go. :( SOunds like a great time, though!!!!! Hope the drugs work on Mystic!!! Glad it was not more serious!

26 days? Can we just skip teh 20-miler and Xmas and go to marathon? I don't feel ready, but I'm more ready fro marathon than XmaS! ;)

Did last 60 min weekday run last night. Topped off with Yoga taught by satan. :guilty:
